Mi 5s normal working temperatures - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have recently upgraded from Redmi 4 Prime to a Mi 5s (3/32gb) and have a general question about the working temperatures as I feel the phone gets very hot.
While playing games the phone reaches more than 50C and the battery about 40C. The phone gets really warm to the touch. Sometimes I see it reach close to 60. The phone gets hot while charging as well. (I am looking at temps from CPU-Z)
Strangely I cannot find any info about heating issues for this model. Maybe mine is defective?
The Rom I am running is MIUI Global 8.2 Stable (8.2.1.0 MAGMIDL), Android 6.0.1 MXB48T.

Well.. Mi 5s is using SD 821 so that's that

For me it's the same, especially now in summer phone with use gets constantly hot.

Thank you for the replies. So the SD 821 is a hot SoC? I have previously had SD 625, which was very, very cool and stable.

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the OnePlus X stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.

Heats a lot!
Yup heats up like it's on stove at times. Every phone heats though . . In opx's case, it feels warmer because of the glass back design.
Not Frequent, but heats up! - 7
I find this typical heating while charging for more time or with a different charger or using the device while charging.
Try to watch a YouTube video with a cardboard...after 15min you can warm the milk
I went to the Sultan CM13 rom with 3.4.0 kernel and cpu underclocked, keeps most things cool for me
Cool for me!
I have rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader, I recently flashed blu spark's kernel and my phone runs a million times better and a definite difference with temps, I run really cool, all with keeping Oxygen OS.
Stock kernel makes the phone hot when playng games. Custom kernel with UV profile can reduce heat.

im running oxygen os 3.1.4 with twrp recovery can u give me a kernel to keep my device cool
Yeah, sorry for taking months, but the kernel I used was blu_spark on Oxygen 5.1.1.
rooted phone on 7.1.2 stays pretty cool.
I noticed similar conditions.
My device is sometimes only when listening to music and in deep sleep too warm.
When playing asphalt 8 it gets really hot. Does not seem to have the best cooling
method as it is with the oneplus one.
Extremely hot while watching youtube.
Sadly; Changing CPU governor to a less agresive ones or lowering clock in Stock OS, makes my OPX very unstable. So I always reverting to default values.
Haven't tried Custom ROM yet.

Without more information, I'm not sure if any of the forum guys and gals can really help you out. Without trying to diagnose the issue, a factory reset is a good place to start.
If she just got it then heat is pretty normal from what I remember. Mine got hot the first few days and now I don't ever notice it getting hot.
Of course, it also depends on what she's doing with the phone. Gaming and GPS will make the phone warm.

Temperature in the hand is quite subjective.
What is more objective is if your friend get thermal throttle.
Now all smartphone when it get too hot, lower SoC frequency so it don't get hotter but the phone also get slower. Even iphone throttle, with a gameloft game for example (god of rome, sniper fury).
usually, the OP3 get warm but not hot enough to throttle, so when your friend say it's too hot, launch antutu and if you get less than 110 000, yes it's throttling and too hot.

Got the phone today, and it feels very cold to the touch. Most of the heat It gained was from my own hands... though it is winter. I then put a silicon transparent case, and after setting everything up I did some google cardboard vr for around 30 minutes and felt a light warmth through the case... barely noticeable.
Mine is getting pretty warm after rooting, making a nandroid backup, and flashing xposed. Not quite uncomfortable, but very noticeable.
My phone has only heated up a couple of times, and that was when I really used it, games and such.. Otherwise it's really "dead" to the touch.
If you want to heat it up, use some benchmarks, or if you want to be more productive, use mapillary outside and photomap your area around.
Yes.. it's getting heated very often even I use for 5mins.. I got phone today only(23-12-2016). Please suggest a solution.

For me its exact the same thing...
Of course its gonna heat up if your cpu and gpu are working at max speed all the time.. its normal
First day when I flashed custom rom, installed all apps, rooted, twrp and all that it was hot to the touch because the reason above but now when I use it in a normal way its actually cold to the touch most of the times and I love that
I rooted mine and installed a rom really got hot then I changed to a different rom and it is very cool now.
OnePlus 3T is a really cool device. I suggest users to buy it. It has very cool features like Fingerprint access, Camera etc.
But if anyone gets Official TWRP for Android 7.0 for OnePlus 3T, Please tell me*
Never felt any kind of heat through the case (Orzly 2-part case).
Never been an issue.
i have noticed it's evenly warm when it shouldn't be. try enabling "Auto close high power usage apps" battery options.
the description makes me laugh. engrish.
"When it runs, the system auto clean up background power-hungry apps , prevent phone from getting hot."
It doesn't warm up much, if at all, for me, but I am using a rom that underclocks the CPU which could be the primary reason for this.
On 3.5.4 I would have occasional heating after a phone call. Battery stats would show that the phone was using the CPU for extended periods after the call had ended. Usually a deep clean of the ram would solve it. Sometimes it didn't solve and then a reboot would solve the problem. Phone was completely stock.
It was comparatively very cool throughout with the CPU temps being in the mid 20s or low 30s even during charging at 3.4A with the dash charger!

Heating issue
Got my phone few days ago its heating when i am playing clash of clans but otherwise no issues in normal mode.
Nvm
The phone stays cool to the touch even under heavy gaming. (Max 35C on cpu)
Heating hasn't been an issue so far. Had an app causing constant 70% CPU usage and the device was just slightly warm
my phone getting hot sometimes idk why
Any manufacter could make a super cool phone by just setting an agressive thermal profile. Oneplus 3/3T doesnt throttle at all, not with gaming. The phone gets warm, but you have to consider that it's using his full potencial. I prefer a hot phone (not the case) than a cool phone with half of the power the soc offers.

Heating on Mi 10T

Hello,
I am about to purchase the Mi 10T, have a final question. The only reason I am going for a 865 phone is that I am hoping it heats up WAY less than cheaper cpu phones. I want to be able to play a heavy game for, say, 2 hours straight and not have the phone overheating. Will the 10T be able to handle that?
Thanks
Well, playing genshin impact for over 4 hours continuously with my redmi k30 4g doesn't heat over 40 degree Celsius.
I'll tell you after a week of usage, mine will arrive on oct 23 if you can wait until tho

Literally bought it 5 minutes ago. I figured I would just return if it's not doing great temp and battery wise.
Had the OP8 which was 865. So far not that warm to touch. and before that I had the F2 Pro which was the same. so all good. the only device I had which was kinda warm was the MI 10 5G

I'm getting 60 celsius on cpu, 40 degrees on battery, after about 1 hour of gaming using 80%gpu 40%cpu, 18 celsius local temp.
I have no idea if the temps are good or not tho. What do you think?
Based on my experience i have stressed test the device using Antutu when the unit reached batt temp of 47 and up and goes back to homescreen when you're navigating fps will only be 60 or less automatic even though the screen refresh rate is set to 144hz in settings i dont know if this is a way to dissipate the heat or issue. It will go back to normal after 2-3 mins or when the batt temp goes down to 44 below based on my observation.
Been through the OnePlus device but did not encounter this kind of issue after playing a game

Question F3 heat issue

I bought the Poco f3 3 days ago from aliexpress I did install the latest update 12.0.5 when am using the phone it get little bit hot just browsing on social media nothing havy
i felt this too , not hot , but warmer than my nokia 7 plus , but i guess high end processors run hotter and my ambient temp is 37c
Its because the cpu is mostly running above 1200mhz normally it should be at 300mhz can be fixed with a system update lets just hope they will
Even the unit I purchased has heating issue while charging. It heats up greatly and is beyond what you call "warm". Mine is a Indian variant called as Mi 11x 6/128GB. Currently I'm trying to replace it.
