Current state of the Mi 6 development - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hey,
I have doubts about the current state of the Mi 6 development and I didn't find any discussion around here about that.
Is the kernel source code released yet? Will it take long?
No. Previous devices like the Mi 5 and Mi 5s took 6 and 8 months, respectively, to its release.
Is it likely that Mi 6 will get a AOSP rom?
This is more likely when the kernel source code are released. There is an (AOSP) UNOFFICIAL rom of the LineageOS for the Mi 6.
Did LOS or RR gave a hint about making the rom available for Mi 6? Is the chances high?
A UNOFFICAL release for LineageOS is out. Official roms will probably be released when the kernel source code is available.

Looking back at the previous Xiaomi flagship devices :
- It took 6 months for Mi 5's kernel source to be released.
- It took around 8 months for Mi 5S/ 5S Plus kernel source to be released.
Mi 6 is about 2 months old right now. I think we have to wait a bit longer for the AOSP/LOS ROM.

Yeah, but we can have AOSP unnofficial roms without kernel release, right?
I think the oddly delay on the Mi 5s kernel should not happen again.
I think I'll wait longer to buy the Mi 6 then.
Thanks for the reply.

This is kind of a bummer if true. I recently got my mi 6 hoping for an early LOS nightly in 4-5 weeks. Let's see how MIUI holds up for several months then.

You already have a unofficial LOS Rom here.

Mi6 releasing tomorrow, and still no source for the Mi5S old model

Looks like its time to chuck this phone and go to another brand which has actual support.
Looks like the Mi5S was an incredibly bad purchase support wise, i'm betting Xiaomi pretty much stop releases for it within a couple of months and move all dev to the Mi6
Mi6 releases on 19th April. Wait till the end of April, if there's no kernel sources by then, then it's time to move to another brand.
Mi6 is launching with MM so no chance of Mi5S getting Nougat now.
Im regretting not getting a Oneplus 3T now instead of this hunk of unsupported junk
I should have learned my lesson after my mi pad got no support
Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 may be released with Xiaomi Mi6 at the same time

If the Ressurection Remix for Mi6 is preparing?

I found the website of downloading rr rom of mi 6 has been set. If that mean the rr rom is preparing?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/resurrectionremix/files/sagit/
by the way, why the discussion of mi6 is so few, compared with redmi note3's? if it's because xiaomi didn't sold mi6 to foreign?
I'm sorry for my poor English.

Yes, partly. I think that's the cause.
I didn't quite follow Xiaomi when Mi5 was launched, maybe someone can make a comparison?

That is the issue indeed. Usually devices that hasnt been released outside China will almost impossible to have the kernel source to be released.
Mi5 is released globally eventually and also got their kernel source released few months after (september 2016 if I am not mistaken)
It's now being sold in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Russia. Maybe the sources will be released sooner than Mi 5?
hope it won't take to long.. I'm sick of miui not even basic android features...

Lineage OS for Lenovo Tab3 8 plus??

Hello, a month ago i bought a Lenovo Tab3 8 Plus (TB-8703F) and I'd like to know if this custom rom is compatible with this tablet? It has Snapdragon 625 octacore 2.0Ghz, 64 bits and 3 GB Ram
Thanks in advance

Me too - am really enjoying LineageOS on my Oneplus One. At this point I might settle for any custom Rom for this Lenovo Tab. The stock Rom is hinky (technical term) and no updates that I've seen.
please make it happen, I need 7.0
this tablet is under USD 150 in gearbest, such a great price for sd 625 tablet. I hope some developer gets one these tablets so we can get los 15

It would be great, this tablet needs really Nougat.
But i'm afraid it doesn't attract enough interest
plus my rom went crazy after a security update and not it won't see my sd card anymore
double sadness for me
any news??
Since Lenovo publish the sources of this tab in march there is at least a chance so see custom kernel or roms within the next weeks.
I think, stay patient.

There is no news on Android Q 10 on general AOSP. After Google releases the new OS I think it would be short enough, like a month or two until Xiaomi customizes the rom.
The last news about Android Q 10 is the Beta 6 launched this month.

Im expecting it like in October, November or December.
Nokia is planning to release Android Q in the fourth quarter this year, Xiaomi probably will be a bit slower, so prolly around end of December or the first quarter of the next year.

Andoid One 10 discussion thread.

Last generation Android Pie was launched on August 8 and around November 27 the Mi A2 Lite received the Pie update. This year, Android 3 is rumored to launch on September 3 and would probably come to Mi A2 Lite in the following months.
Will you upgrade the day it launches or will you wait a while longer before updating?
In this thread we will discuss news, bugs and solutions for the new upcoming Android 10 update.
Update:
Android 10 was finally launched and updates for Pixel devices started rolling out. Also, Xiaomi is not far behind releasing day one update for the Xiaomi K20 Pro (MIUI//China//India).
Since MIUI is a heavy skinned Android version we can't be sure yet about any bugs in Android 10 for the Android One program. Stay tuned.

With this phone, I think I've been in the lucky part of users (never had big bug or blocking issue all along updates)
But I will definitely do the same as for Android 9 :
Wait at least one or two weeks, and use this time for browsing forums likes XDA before taking a decision...
And I agree with you, system wide dark mode seems to be the more interesting feature (with native screen recording)
As i love Always to test new
I'll install the new os when it release
I will since I'm hoping they fix a bug in which the bluetooth and the wi-fi can't work together because wi-fi slows.

I never experienced that bug in Android Pie. I always keep both on since Bluetooth connects to my smartwatch and car and I never bother turning off wi-fi. Wi-Fi works normal at decent speeds.
Mi A2 Lite 4/64 model.
Any idea if enabled Camera2 API will survive the update to Android 10?
How about the prior update from Oreo to Pie with enabled Camera2 API? Does it still work afterwards?
I strongly hope they fixed all those Bluetooth issues
Has anybody installed the GSI?
This image was found on a subreddit for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. This seems like good news since it was posted about 8 days ago.
Maybe we should expect Android 10 in the October update.
This messages are from Xiaomi support Great Britain.
please do not share information without verifying that it is correct

It's quoting the same debunked source mentioned a couple posts above. So hold your horses, it won't come next week.

That's just like... uhm, your opinion. This is a discussion thread and ... guess what, people discuss.
The K20 Pro received the Android One 10 update on September 24. The K20 runs on Android One unlike the 9T which runs on MIUI.
This means that the Android One 10 is now ready, it just needs to be tweaked for every supported Android One device. As we see until now, the Mi A2 will get it first, about 1-2 weeks prior to the Mi A2 Lite. That's what we have to check out, the global version of Mi A2 official forums.
For example the screen rotation glitch was knows 2 weeks prior from we getting it on our Lites. When we got our update, surprise, the screen rotation glitch... And it took them 1 more increment to fix that problem for both devices.

And where is the beta program? It has not started yet. An update without it is unlikely.
On the global MIUI forum (also from customer support) there was information that Android 10 will appear for us in November. If the beta program starts in October, it will be likely.
It should be remembered that MI A3 will have a priority in update, and the beta program did not start for this model.

Android 10 had a Google beta program, not OEM beta program. Xiaomi was in the program from the beginning. The Android 10 Beta Program ended in August with Beta 6.
