Zenfone 2 Won't turn ON Or Charge. just vibrates every few minutes! Pls help - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had 7% battery and was on call, phone had shutdown suddenly and won't turn on or CHARGE.
When I press power button it just vibrates Twice. I had connected charger but it won't charge.
Besides it vibrates continuously every few (2-3) minutes (even without doing anything.).
I tried the following.
1). Charged overnight and tried on....Didnt work.
2). Opened the back panel and removed battery to mother board connection few times and connected back......it just vibrates . that's it
Pls help! Its out of warranty.

Let me know hoe it goes, because Im having the exact issue. I tried the steps from sukhwant717, but getting stopped at the step when it goes to the OS. Will keep my phone to charge for a few hours. I observe, that there is no heating up (battery), but will keep it for charging anyways.
Cheers

Thanks man....I did actually fix the phone...your awesome.....
It went something like this...
First phone refused to turn on....no charging light notification..it keeps vibrating.
Even @sukhwant717 method stopped at "os" thing.
After exhausting all option taken to a local service person who did something and told phones dead.
After coming home I have checked He RIPPED /SNAPPED ANTENNA cable.
I didn't bother much as phone was prononced dead!
After 30 to 40 days was casually reading @sukhwant717 thread and thought of trying again. I coonected charger and SUDDENLY I SAW ASUS BOOT SCREEN and phone was showing BATTERY WITH QUESTION MARK. I let it charge for sometime suddenly bootloader screen appeared but was not entering into recovery.(perhaps damaged bootloader , recovery).
Then I followed sukhwant717 method flashed bootloader and RAW image using ADB.
and phone RESURRECTED but with very low siganl.
It's due to RIPPED antenna cable.
And was getting good reception on 2nd SIM (perhaps uses different antenna/cable)
So I decided to order new Antenna Flex Cable but it's not available in India. So I went to ASUS SERVICE CENTER (near Brandfactory) in Hyderabad
and asked them the cost of Flex Cable, they said they won't sell spares...I have to RMA.
So I did and after two days I have received a call from them that "ITS FAULTY MOTHERBOARD" and will cost 11000 INR (USD 170, seriously ASUS),I said I rather want my phone in previous condition. I even told them to fix antenna cable ...I will manage.
They said their "TESTING SOFTWARE " failing device test even after connecting antenna cable.so they can't sell a part for a TEST FAILED device.
I told them it's because I had unlocked bootloader..the test is failing.they didn't have a clue abt bootloader unlcoking.
So again went to local market for the cable found A cable (though lil longer) and got it fixed for about 300INR ($5).
and got back the reception and typing with LTE connection on ZF2.
Thanks again @sukhwant717 ...
My observations: the issue could be due to
1) it's battery related issue (completely drained bir failed battery)
2) damaged bootloader
The people who have similar problem should leave the phone uncharged for 30 to 40 days even more and connect the charger and see if u see battery with ? Mark.
Or if new battery is available change battery and check....

I had a similar problem, phone suddenly powered itself off and started vibrating. With the phone off and connecting the charger it started to charge, but after a while it started vibrating and overheating. I did a factory reset but the problem persisted. I flashed the raw firmware and it behaved properly for a while, but a few days ago the phone died. It does not turn on, does not charge, screen never turns on, no notification light, no vibration. But if connected to the charger it gets hot.

Left the mobile alone and tried to plug in after 35 days, IT WORKED. At first nothing happened but left it in charge for few hours. Later the mobile came back to life when I tried to turn it on..... 3 days in and still working just like it used to.... will have to take care not to let the battery drain below 20%

I am having same issue .. did you get it resolved ? Any luck ?

hello i'm having the same problem
will this method ensure that my data won't be lost?

Xperia play overheating

i rehoused me xperia play and when i tryed to turn it on i just got the blinking red light, so i bought a new battery that worked for 45 mins when it overheated to 47degress then died so i bought a external battery charger and the battery charges but when i put it in it overheats and dies in an hour and when it charges it gets even hotter and dies faster..... does anyone know how to fix this cause i cant afford to buy a new phone anytime soon
Are you using stock firmware or a custom one?
Stock
well the same thing happened to me..
i rehoused my mobile. but when i was closing up the phone, without putting in the back housing, i tried to switch on the phone so i would check if everything was fine or not. But what i did wrong here was that i just inserted the battery in wrong direction. Negative to the positive and vice versa. Nothing happened at that time, and the phone did not turn on. Upon realizing my mistake, i tried to power on my mobile again with the correct battery connections but this time the phone just wont turn on. There was a weird red light that started blinking and the phone just wont turn on.
so i completed the housing process thinking that maybe that was the problem and there was some sort of a sensor or something but that damn thing just wouldnt turn on. even if i put the mobile on charge it wouldnt turn on. so what i did was, i again opened up the back of my phone, deliberately put the battery in wrong position, tried to switch the phone on, and then i put the battery back again in the right direction and as i press the power button, walla, the phone is alive again.
BUT...
its getting HOT. damn HOT. after only being on for about 5 min, the battery got hot to 54C. upon inspection. i found out that the battery is not getting hot, but its the motherboard that is heating up.
i went to the service center, which opened up the board and found an IC that was damaged (caused by my battery mistake).
Found the IC from china. Ordered it, and TODAY it arrived. I will be going back to the service center, for replacement of the IC. If all is OK, i will let you know.
meanwhile, check out the pic of the IC that got damaged on my mobile during the process of rehousing and my stupidity.
hey thanks that helps cause i think i did the same thing with the battery...do u have a link to buy the new Ic?
FOUND a friend in china, and bought the IC from him ..
STATUS :
just now, after connecting the new IC, the phone has started working again. its NOT heating up. Everything is working fine..
EXCEPT
that now my phone shows no signals. In the settings when i search for other networks, i find many other networks also (MEANING THE TRANSMITTER IS WORKING FINE) but the phone just wont connect to my network and wont give me any signals.
I only get "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" status.
I am actually getting fed up of this set. Anyways, i hope u get the IC, and your phone works fine. ( I HOPE )

I did the exact same thing and have the same problem, but the difference is when i try the reverse method it still doesnt come on but cud i get a link to where u found the IC
The problem here is the same IC from the picture. Even though I found the replacement IC from China, I still couldn't get my set to start up normally without overheating. If you remove the IC from the board, the phone will start (even without the IC) but you will get no signals
For me, I was unable to get the phone back to its working condition. So I sold the phone as it was.

By inserting the battery in reversed position you probably caused some sort of short-circuit. You probably didn't burn only IC, but many different parts. When the part is damaged and short-circuit exist in it it heats up very very quickly as the current on this part (any many other parts that are connected with it) is very big (this also causes very quick battery drainage). So it means you had probably burnt the mainboard even if the phone switches on, so getting new mainboard is the only sollution to get the phone fully working (as I think you aren't proffessional who can diagnose and repair it. Neither do I ).
I hope this helped somehow.

Hello all I too have an xperia r800i play with the same problem or better the battery under the battery becomes very hot in a few minutes, and drain the battery quickly. Moreover, even when you plug in the charger not charging? only shows the loading icon but then not charged and only the LED flashing red?
And you can not start the phone FASTBOOT? because the LED flashes blue and then turns on a second phone in the normal
how can I do to fix?
thanks
Hey,
i have the same problem.
i tried isolating a pin from battery (the midle one) and i got it to work without heating, i thought it was fixed but then i took the battery back out and overheated again maybe theres something wrong with the pins any alternatives?
i did the same thing my phone is in the fridge now i boosted the battery by usb with bare wires got it started up hoping to get to 50% charge then try a reflash see if that works

Not charging, screen flickering

I bought a note 10.1 2014 Ed a couple of weeks ago on eBay. Not refurb and sealed in the box.
Devastated to find tonight, after completely discharged and shut down, that it seemed not to charge at all.
It becomes stuck on either the battery symbol, where nothing happens, arrow doesn't spin and no animation, or goes to the device model name. All the while the brightness flickers.
Have tried various chargers, I've taken all the cards out but nothing is working
I think it may be a loose connection with the battery (but open to other theories).
If anyone has had this problem, how have you fixed it? Is it worth disassembling and trying to fix it myself (as I'm sure you can tell I don't have a lot of knowledge about this)? Being an eBay purchase is it still under warranty with Samsung? How much would a fix be if it was a loose battery?
Thanks in advance

As far as I am aware items from ebay are not covered under warrenty.
Even with the screen off and nothing happening, leave it on charge for few hours then unplug and try to put it on.
Also have a look into the charger port of the tablet at the bottom to make sure nothing looks bent or out of the ordinary.

I have not had this issue with my Note, but my Nook did the same thing once. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and everything reset. No idea if this will help, or if you are adventurous enough to try it.

samsung sm-p605 dead not starting, screen flickers
i am going to try removing the battery as u said.. lets see..
anyother ideas plz let me know..
but shld i do this quite often?? is this an known error of note???.. do we have this problem when complety drained????
samsung sm-p605 dead not starting, screen flickers
no luck.. i removed the battery from the board, then plugged in back after couple of minutes..
still in same state..
the screen flickers a lot.. is that normal when the note is completely drained..???
It is very bad for the battery to go completely down. I don't let it happen on my devices, so I cannot say if the flicker is normal.
My experience with the Nook was actually a friend's device. He had let it run down, and it was not charging. He left it on the charger for a few days, and it was still not showing a charge. He gave it to me to check out. I disconnected and reconnected the battery. It was probably half an hour or so, because I was interrupted. When I reconnected the battery, the Nook popped on and reported a full battery. Apparently it was charging but not registering anything, and the disconnect allowed things to reset.
If you do not any other ideas, I would suggest leaving on the charger overnight (or longer) and trying the disconnect again. Maybe leave it disconnected longer too.

I have the same exact issue right now! But mine is a refurbished unit. I tried the battery unplug, tried leaving it charging overnight, letting it discharge, flashing new roms, new kernels, etc. Nothing. THe only thing that did work a little bit was changing the kernel. Other than that, even flashing stock ODIN roms wasn't working.
When you charge yours, does it charge up to 75% but won't go any further? And does it take an extremely long time to get there? Because mine does. Reading about other devices that have the same issue, it seems to be the battery. But the other devices were phones. This is a tablet. The battery costs $65 :/

I know this is a very late reply and you have probably solved your problem by now, but for future readers with this problem:
I currently have the exact same problem, and just found out what it was. Either my charging cable (official Samsung cable) is faulty. I plugged it into another microUSB cable, and it is now charging again. No more battery symbol that doesn't have the spinning animation or flickering, and now it turns on.

Thanks for this information. Exactly this was the issue. Great!
Charging works and screen stops flickering with Samsung charger if you let it charge in Recovery mode. Mine is still charging as of now, so I don't have any news further yet, but it went from 0% -> 3% after around 30min.
Other than that, I only managed to get charging working with a Motorola's turbo charger.

[Q] GT-I9192 not starting and not charging.

Last week my I9192 battery went low and it switched off
When i plugged it for charging the charging logo didn't appear and phone didn't start.
I kept it for about it for 1 hour but still no use.
Even tried charging with PC/USB but no use.
My charger is all well (tried with other samsung phone).
So i went to the service center. The guy there told me there is problem in charging port.
After replacing charging port the guy told me that the port was all right, the battery was damaged.
So i got a new battery.
The phone stared, worked fine.
When the battery showed LOW, I plugged it for charging. After plugging in the phone turned OFF immediately and the same issue started again. The charging logo didnt appear and phone was in OFF state.
To test my phone I used my Wave525 battery and aligned it to my I9192 battery terminals, and phone started.
With Wave525 battery everything is fine. The phone charges normally. I even backed up my data with that battery.
Now i have given my phone to service center again.
The guy this time told me that its a strange problem and will need testing...
I dont know what the service center will come up this time..
If any one knows what this issue is, i would like to know and would be really thankful.
Happened to me before. Just leave it charging and after about an hour press and hold on power button until something happens

Thanks. Now my phone is with service center. If the center fails this time i'll try what you said.:good:
Sorry for starting this thread again, but I am having a similar problem. I replaced the charging port, phone still will not charge. I can charge the battery by jamming it into a S3 Mini. The battery charges to 100%, and will power my S4 Mini. Did you ever find out what the problem was, and how was the problem fixed? Thank you.

[Q] HTC One X violently died but I think I might've resurrected it?

Please look into this guys;
Last night, I charged my HOX from 18%-28%, used it for a few minutes and then turned it off (it was still at 28%). I then plugged it into the HTC "black box" usb charger (I've been using the same one since I got the phone like six months ago) but turned on charging after 2 hours - and left it charging for like 6½ hours.
EDIT: My brother actually switched on charging two hours after I switched the phone off. [IT WAS TURNED OFF FOR 2 HOURS]
In the morning, the red LED wasn't on, so I disconnected it and tried turning it on - it didn't work.
I tried holding all three buttons for minutes and all of that, but it still didn't work.
I googled the issue and went through a bunch of threads where the exact same thing happened, and most people said the battery either died permanently or something similar. This one person said he fixed his HOX by using a different charger, apparently the chargers themselves can die.
I plugged my HOX into my mom's Samsung charger, and booted it into bootloader, and selected RECOVERY. After a few minutes and to my orgasmic relief, my phone turned on.
I'm still confused as to what happened.
1) Is there something terribly wrong with my phone's battery now? (When it turned on it was at 1%, whereas I turned it off 6½ hours prior at 28%)
2) My HTC black box charger is obviously not to be used now, right?
3) Is there any problem with using a samsung charger on my HOX from now on? Or should I search for another HTC Black Box Charger?
I'll leave it on charge until it reaches around 60-70% and test it out, and let you know if it's fine. But until then, could you please try answering my questions?
THANKS!
On a side note:
I recently had my HOX repaired at the UK service center under warranty. The phone actually had a bunch of issues; yellow spots on the screen, the ruined wifi antennae thing.. Well, they replaced the screen and display, and replaced the Wifi wiring. When I got it back, it turned out that they forgot to remove a plastic cover from the in-call speaker. Thus I cannot use the phone for phone calls outside of extremely quiet places, unless I use earphones with a mic. I let HTC know this, and they said, "Oh, no problem, just send it back to center"
I reside outside of the UK. I had to send it there with my own money and bring it back with my own money. So now I have to choose between spending another $90 or being able to use my phone for phone calls.
Thanks again, whoever bothers to read this and helps me

Blinking LED, doesn't charge, can't get into fastboot

Hello!
First of all - yes, I am completely aware that there are MANY similar threads, I've spent almost 3 hours now finding solution, no luck. I hope some good soul out there will be able to shed some light on my case So here it is:
Today, I was caught in a bad moment with low battery, and the phone discharged completely and turned off. I've connected it to the charger just about 5 mins later max, but the blinking LED of death got me there I have it on a charger for about 4-5 hours now (original HTC charger, of course tried both, the wall and the usb), the LED is still blinking, phone is cold (it's getting quite hot when it's charging normally), no reaction whatsoever, can't even enter any fastboot or recovery or anything. I've tried every possible combinations I have found, vol+ & power, vol- & power, both volumes & power, long, short, nothing helps. Now what's different than any other threads out there? The phone was NEVER rooted, I didn't unlock bootloader, flash, nothing. It was as stock as it could be since I had motherboard replaced (2 years ago, on warranty in HTC service). Now the warranty has ended, so I'm really hesitating to send it there, as it's propably gonna end up with new motherboard again, no matter what the problem really is (I live in Poland, and that's just a common "fix" no matter what the problem is). Current motherboard is the one with CID B25 (the one that never got any update, so it's stuck on Kitkat for 2 years now). Everything was working completely fine just a few hours ago, nothing indicated any battery problems, it just discharged, and now I can't get it to work.
Does anyone have any helpful ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hello Scar9,
I had the same problem. To fix it, I had to charge my phone for 30 minutes. After that, I remove the back cover (to access to the battery). I connected the phone to my PC and I disconnected the battery. I wait any seconds (maybe 10 seconds) and I reconnected my battery (still the phone connected). The screen display a law charge of my battery (around 5 percents) but I can start my phone. After that I fully charged it and all seems OK !
I hope that can help you.
Regards.

Hello!
First of all - yes, I am completely aware that there are MANY similar threads, I've spent almost 3 hours now finding solution, no luck. I hope some good soul out there will be able to shed some light on my case So here it is:

Have you got any solution for this problem.
I too have same problem..
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to revive an HTC Desire 820 (dual-SIM model) that I have. There were several hardware issues with the phone - main one being the battery _completely_ blown and bulged out! So, I replaced the battery, along with the complete battery charging board, and the complete LCD display (which was also gone!)
Now, the issue I'm facing is, even after replacing 3 of the major parts with new ones, the handset is just not coming back to life! The red/orange LED on the front just keeps blinking (indicating that the mainboard is still working) but the phone simply does not respond to any combination of buttons, or even when I connect it to my laptop!
My core question is: Do I really need to have the _original_ HTC charger and USB charging cable (both of which I don't have) to get this thing up again?
If I can get some help and some clues as to what exactly is wrong here, I'll be really, really, REALLY thankful to you...!!!
Thanks a ton in advance!
