[Guide/Share] Shoot RAW photos with stock camera app (Root) - Honor 6X Guides, News, & Discussion

According to some early reviews for the Honor 6X, the phone was already capable of shooting RAW images, but I couldn't find it in the stock Nougat camera app (wasn't really searching for /or using it anyway). (Correct me if I'm wrong ofcourse)
Then the thread mentioned below appeared on the frontpage of xda (labs app) and the method described there also seems to work for our device.

EMUI lite... EMUI lite mode? So high end device which can shoot RAW should have set this as FALSE from factory... That's a neat trick, HUAWEI.

OIC, I've figured it out later. I thought there was a Lite version of camera app.

Thank you sharing this trick.
I have successfuly applied this "hack" on my BLN-L21 on Emui5.0 and it work realy good !

You don't really need all this workaround, just use Footej Camera or Lightroom to save and edit raw files

I'am not very good in photography, and i havent take any «real» pictures and all .dng are on my computer. But i'have try and the resolution is much better (max jpeg quality is still a lot crompressed) and editing with rawtherape work.

Unlock longer shutter speeds

Hello everyone,
Long story short, just bought nexus 5x, I have developed a few kernels in past for various devices, and I am little bit disappointed with n5x camera.
Phone does make awesome pictures, but it lacks longer shutter speeds, I would like to unlock it. Some people say that it is hardware limited, some that software, so here I am asking you how is it for real, and please, answer with any arguments, proofs, I would like to avoid guessing.
I would like to know if there is any sense in trying to unlock it and digging through source code.
Cheers
I managed to take photos with 1 s shutter speed with L Camera.

Most probably fake Bulb mode, which is as stated by app creator - fake. Just multiple 1/6s pictures stacked up together

Nexus 5 hardware is capable of capturing photos at 0.86s shutter speed (5x probably too). And this app uses this capability.
1 fps preview confirms this.

This one https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/releases/download/v0.3/lcamera-debug.apk. The newest dev-build only allowed down to 1/6s.
Thank a lot.
Now I hope that will be possible to implement this feaute on other (more advanced) camera apps (fv5,proshot,....)

I confirm the with L-Camere 0.3 is possible to have a shutter time of 1s (if I select 1/1,2) and the night photos are incredible
I asked to ProShot developer if is possible to implement this feature on his great app. I hope that is possible....
Looks like HTC 10 has same camera sensor and it's camera app allows to use 2s shutter speed, unfortunately, none of htc camera app versions let's me go manual on our nexus.
Also Xiaomi YI 2 action camera has it, and it allows up to 30s while taking pics. So i guess I/we would have to edit camera libs. I also emailed lcamera creator but I don;t think that he will respond.

Hey guys, I have Nokia 8 (TA 1012) and I don't like the fact that the longest exposure time is 1/2 s. Can you help me override it? To unlock longer exposure time.

I can't find one that works for wide angle, portrait or supports raw files - all raw files come out with 600 resolution. Have you had any luck? I've tested 10-20 different apks.

Here is the download link that you suggested. Any chance you can send us your configuration?
Link: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog666/
It works with wide angle, however, the RAW is still not working. If you enable RAW it will make take the image and it will be roughly 20 MB, however, when you look at the image it is very blurry and the resolution is 600-700.
The flash is also not working. The picture will be taken but not saved on normal angle with no crashing. On wide angle for some reason, you cant enable flash.

I guess you are correct. Flash doesn't appear to be working correctly (don't typically use flash so never noticed). And you are correct about RAW photos coming out blurry (don't use RAW either so never noticed). Sorry to get everyone's hopes up! lol I mainly just use gcam for portrait shots of my kids, etc. and for night shot, everything else I use the stock Samsung camera.

Entertained the idea to use the GCam.. I like the pics it does take, but all in all, the original Samsung app still works better when it comes to more options. But it was an interesting test run, so thank you.

I find the Samsung Camera app unusable due to the image quality.
In terms of GCam, I found the S10 port had the best quality, not sure if its just my mind playing tricks on me or what. I've been using version 6.1.021 with the profile from the link below.
No wide angle, no raw, flash works, but the quality seems the best. Hopefully someone can fix wide angle and raw support on this version.

General default camera so much better then Gcam my review

ok let me start custom roms blow stock out of the water but the only thing that made me go back to stock was the camera app , in my opinion gcam struggles to focus I do consider myself a a photography pro , that being said , i love the performance of the customs roms overstock , hands down, but the default camera is the deal breaker in my opinion, g-cam struggles to focus , especially in macro mode , I do hope some one port the ANX camera to a custom rom ... just my 2 cents and I tried them all Gcam / configs so save your breath...
I agree, the stock cam is just better, more convenient and faster imo. Luckily for me I dont care much about photos.
Sorry I got that wrong.

It's true, thanks to a user of this forum that I don't remember the name I was able to use the Gcam for normal and night photos but the macros are still a problem.
Another thing that is making me think about going back to Stock ROM is that there is no support and continuity of updates.
I really love the stock camera too. But for Macros or really close photos it can't focus could you give me a tip, to improve it.
Does any custom rom support the stock camera app?

Hi,
right after taking the picture the app closes, the picture is saved but every time I have to reopen the app. If I take a photo in night mode the app closes and the photo is not saved.

Question Modded GCam?

I want the ability to increase exposure times in astro mode, also want manual controls for shutter time etc in other spots.
I've looked and haven't found one that works perfectly with the Pixel 6 Pro. Has anyone found a good modded GCam yet??
I am using MWP gcam 8.3.253: it works rather well on the P6 pro (all lenses) and offers some manual tweaking (including for astro). It is still a beta version.
I'm not sure how this works, but will it be possible to have a mod that retains the precise version of GCam that's on the Pixel 6 Pro, but simply adds functionality? Eg. the ability to alter sharpness and noise settings? Or is it necessary that the mod replace the entire thing with a new version?
Oh, and would this require rooting the phone?

Sorry: this is in fact : Gcam_8.3.252_V1b_MWP.apk (MWP, 2021-10-02, pixel)
(not 253: my mistake)
Thank you.
Working on my P6 Pro.
I just can't find a setting for 100% jpeg Quality.
This version brings back the AE/AF lock function (padlock icon) !!!
I use it a lot to keep the exposure consistent between frame to make large panoramas in Photoshop.
selfie cam not working properly in the modded one, and if you take 20x zoom is a lot worse with more noise than the stock 8.4.
i feel DR is worse too in the modded one
