I can't access to Download Mode, I can't flash RUU, Don't Charge, Brick Phone - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hey Guys, I did a factory reset and the phone went don't:
I can't access to Download Mode.
It doesn't charge
I Can't flash RUU (Because I can't access to the download mode)
I Can't access to the recovery.
It is stuck in this white screen.
*I tried installing the TWRP (Sucess!) , Installing boot.img (from Bad boyz ROM) (Success) but the error is still there, I can't access to the recovery neither.
It has S-OFF
It has unlock bootloader.
Any solution please?
HTC 10 Sprint version.

Do you have the android sdk installed on a PC? if so you can boot directly into the the ruu download mode without actually having to reboot into download mode.
From the bootloader screen connect your pc with usb c cable
navigate to where your sdk/platform tools hold shift and right click and choose open command prompt here
type in the command
fastboot oem rebootRUU

The thing is, the phone doesn't charge. So I tried to Run the RUU but it showed "battery below 30%" , I need at least the phone charge, But I don't know how.

you can also flash recovery from fastboot oem rebootRUU if you have a copy of twrp place it in the same folder as the platform tools and execute the command
fastboot flash recovery <nameoftherecovery>.img
then
fastboot reboot recovery
it should charge in recovery

Also head over to omj'S thread and down the firmware in the zip file and put that on your sdcard if you have one. It should give you the option to install from the sdcard

I can't access to the download mode and recovery mode neither. It always stucks on the HTC logo, I only have access to the Bootloader mode (The White Screen) that's the problem. When I tried to enter to download more or Recovery mode, it stucks in the HTC Logo :/

I had a very similar problem as OP and I was able to get my HTC 10 (unlocked NA edition) to take an RUU after following this suggestion. Specifically I got the decrypt tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/tool-universal-htc-ruu-rom-decryption-t3382928

yes, I can enter fastboot.
ok start with
fastboot devices
you should see you phones serial number
now
fastboot -w
now
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you must have a valid recovery in the same folder that fastboot.exe is in. find this maybe in the wiki or 4ext site or clockwork site. also change the name of the image to "recovery.img" make sure it is an image and not a zip, if its a .zip extract the image

I don't get it. At my boatloader, there are option: fastboot, recovery, factory reset, somlock, system info & img crc. When I enter fastboot, there are option bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader & power down. What should I do? PC10IMG is already in my sd, but it fail to flash during hboot.
fastboot on you phone just puts you in fastboot mode, no commands are to be done with your phone rather your pc.
in the sdk you downloaded from android (I assume you rooted this yourself and I assume you have windows)
find a folder in the sdk called platform-tools. here should be fastboot.exe in this folder place your recovery image and name it recovery.img (not recovery.img.img)
now open cmd here (hold shift, right click in folder, select open command here)
now on pc type
fastboot devices
you should see you phones id, if you don't you did something wrong and we need to figure it out, if you see it then proceed
now type
fastboot -w
now type
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
now type
fastboot reboot recovery
you should now be in your new recovery

the phone id not appear, and the next command, the cmd reply error: cannot load. Probably the phone is not detected. any idea ....?
have you been able to use adb before? fastboot is similar, you need the proper drivers (same as adb) and you need to point cmd to the right place, either change the path in enviromental variables or change directories to fastboot.exe
this is also done by holding shift and right clicking in the folder fastboot.exe is in, then choose open command here.
in cmd if you type "fastboot devices" and it says waiting for device it isn't regestering it, your phone needs to be on, connected via usb, in fastboot mode on phone, drivers installed on pc. let me know where the trouble is

dont worry about the reboot command if all worked, truthfully if i remember right you cant boot to recovery from fastboot, or maybe its fastboot reboot-recovery
anyway if all says its good unplug usb and choose power down on phone
then boot into hboot again and choose recovery
see if this works for you

you are either just fine, this could be the case, try and flash a rom like you have in the past, no need to supewipe as fastboot -w from earlier did this
if you cant there may be a chance you have a fried emmc, my guess is you dont and all is well as fastboot write commands i dont think work when the emmc gets fried
let me know what happens

yes im on S-ON with an unlocked bootloader
but how i can make the fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img
im not smart in the phone world Sorry
Assuming you are an HTC Desire HD or Inspire 4G user, are S-On, have an unlocked bootloader, and are stuck on the boot splash after flashing a ROM, you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img as follows.
1. Get the boot.img: unzip the ROM zip on your PC and navigate into the folder from the file manager. You should see a boot.img file. Open a terminal there (in Windows, shift-rightclick in the folder; if using Linux or Mac, I expect you to know how to do this).
2. Put your phone in fastboot mode: connect your phone to the computer, reboot into hboot by holding power + volume-down, navigate to "fastboot" with the volume buttons, and select it with the power button.
3. Fastboot flash the boot.img: from the command window,
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot.
Note: you will need to do this each time you flash a ROM, but not each time you restore a nandroid.

I don't use this phone anymore, but look around the Development forums. The most active ROM threads float to the top. The OPs will give you a good idea of what each ROM is like.

Flash boot.img is only necessary for s-on. If you have s-off device, just flashing rom in recovery is enough.

If you unlocked your bootloader you are S-On. Make sure by rebooting into the bootloader (hold power and volume-down). Read my signature for the boot.img thing.

Maybe try running fastboot commands such as "fastboot devices" to see if its recognized.

You dont do "adb fastboot devices". You do "fastboot devices"
adb only works when phone is booted or stuck at boot animation, thats why i said try turning on phone then try adb while it bootloops r stuck at splash screen but his phone boots straight into bootloader. Also there is no command for fastboot to reboot recovery. Personally i would take phone apart and clean buttons, worth a shot.

Would fastboot work without selecting it in hboot? If fastboot is able to detect the phone, then he can use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot into a touch based recovery like 4ext (without actually flashing it).

Check your android-sdk/platform-tools/ directory to make sure the fastboot.exe is there.
If its not there, redownload the sdk and setup adb/fastboot using this guide. Also make sure you install these fastboot drivers
Then try "fastboot devices" again and hope that the phone shows up. If it does you can boot a recovery by doing this:
-Download the 4ext recovery img from here
-Extract the zip and put the recovery img in your android-sdk/platform-tools/ directory
-Run "fastboot boot recovery.img"
If its not showing up in fastboot im not really sure that you have any options, other than to do what jmcclue suggested.

Setup adb/fastboot.
Download the 4ext recovery img:
http://www.4ext.net/ddl/bravo/recovery.zip (extract the zip), and put it in the platform-tools folder of where your android sdk is.
Boot the phone into fastboot (hold power and back), then use this command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Once your in recovery do a full wipe and flash a ROM.

It needs to be recognized by fastboot not adb. Download and install HTC sync then uninstall it leaving only the drivers behind. Also install these: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
Then boot the phone into fastboot mode (power and back) and run "fastboot devices" to see if it's recognized. If it is follow the instructions in my first post.

Yeah, it's working, thanks a lot!
I tried to boot with "back + Power" several times.... but without USB connected...
EDIT: No, it wasn't regarding USB...
This only works from time to time, more less then more.. (hopefully you know what I mean)
Okay, now I have a way to get into the recovery, a big step forward!!
What now?
I'd like to "install" this recovery now, as I did before on my HD2 in the past but this is far long ago, so sorry for this stupid question:
How to replace the actual existing Recovery with the booted 4ext one?
On 4ext.net I found a way with a booted rom, but without...
Later on, I'd like to flash CyanogenMod 7, so I already downloaded the suggested PB99img_cm7r2.zip.
I remember this has s.th. to do regarding partitioning, right? What do I have to do with this file?
Can I flash this with fastboot ?
During usual bootloader startup it says "No image or wrong size"
AS you may see, I know a little, but it's damned long ago...
Sorry for my worse english, but I don't know how to describe this better
Hopefully you can help me anyway,
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Use "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" to fully install the recovery. Rename the hboot(partition) file you downloaded to "PB99IMG.zip" and put it on the root of your SD card. Boot the phone into hboot and it will search for the file. When it finds it select yes to install it then reboot.
Go into recovery and wipe everything except the SD card then flash the ROM.

Hi,
thanks a lot for these great hints, but sadly I'm unable since yesterday to enter fastboot mode
System always starts into HBOOT - and dies, weather I press any additional keys to the power button or not...
Any alternative way to enter fastboot mode?

[Q] stuck at "teamwin" logo - twrp does not start - HELP!

hi
first of all iam from germany so my english is not that good.
i got a kindle fire a week ago from a friend. it was not rooted but in a bootloop.
somehow i managed to install twrp via the kf utility. unfortunally it was version 2.1.1.1 so i was not able to install a other rom via sideload.
i also tried the soupkit.
the last idea was that i just copy the zip file onto the device. it stuck in the middle an after 20 minutes i decided to abort.
now the kf just stuck at the "teamwin" logo right before entering the twrp interface.
i tried to reinstall twrp but that didnt worked. i also tired the unbrick tool with no result.
i have a factory cable too.
if you guys have any ideas please let me know!
thanks
nobody really...?
Just speculation. If this had the kindle software on it, then my guess is it tried to update to the 6.3.3 version, which is currently a real problem. Go to this thread and follow the instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790183
Once you are rooted, please install a different wonderful rom, like kitkat, so that Amazon does not dump on you again!

what bootloader is installed, do you see a press power for bootmenu?
likely need adb/fastboot.exe files from KFU, download a twrp.img from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/blaze,
latest is openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-otter.img
verify md5 check sum
move adb/fastboot files (AdbWinUsbApi.dll, AdbWinApi.dll, adb.exe, fastboot.exe)
and twrp.img to same folder like c:adb
connect fastboot cable to kindle powered off, connect to pc, power on kindle
if you have non stock bootloader use
open command prompt
cd\adb
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-otter.img
fastboot reboot
if you have stock bootloader you also need FFF bootloader.bin
verify md5 check sum
open command prompt
cd\adb
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-otter.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader fff-u-boot_v1.5.bin
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot

i did. at first everything looks good.
after rebooting the screen stayed black (green power light was on) and windwos played the "connected - disconnected" sounds for a while.
when i tryed to reset the kf (20sec power button) and turned it back on the problem was the same... is there any way to completley erase the kf without twrp? and if yes can i use ur methode to install twrp and flash a rom?

no, you need twrp
Yes it looked exactly like this...
could be bootloader is partially toast
try reflashing it like you did twrp
download FFF bootloader.bin
verify md5 check sum
open command prompt
cd\adb
fastboot flash bootloader fff-u-boot_v1.5.bin
fastboot reboot

"fastboot reboot-bootloader" worked but after that the fk tryed to boot in recovery again and it stocked at the "teamwin" logo... problem is that at this point no comunication between pc and kf is impossible... adb just says "waiting for device"..
i double checked my version of twrp... it says now V1.4a
i have to go now but i will check your answer tomorrow...
thanks for your help so far! :good:
Don't know could be hardware failure.
