Miui breaks graphic drivers - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

i've been struggling lately to install miui on my device and i remember that i used to be able to. but now, every time i flash any build of Miui, it looks like it's messing up the graphic card. steps i did:
having ob 18 installed, i flashed 3.2.8(and 3.2.7) firmware and modem (everything ok)
next, i flashed miui(all of them, with and without gapps)
and after the instalations succeds,, i reboot, and the screen looks blueish and pixelated, like it's burned.
the only way yo fix this was to flash 3.2.8 firmware and modem again, just to be able to boot to the rom
BUT.... that's not it
i boot succesfully into the rom, and if i lock, then unlock the phone, that overlay gets back
the problem is present even on the bootloader and recovery menu.
i'm back to oos now, but i will flash it again tonight and post some pictures
cheers

Here is a video I made

Thats riiiight. Now i remember that a moyh ago i switched from ext4 to f2fs.
Yet, i can't tell if this is the reason, because now i am running the latest miui from x_s, and this one runs just fine.
Thank you anyway.
Did you actually get the same screen issue?

No I had a different issue but I'm 100 sure that problem comes due to your file system...the versions u using is adapted to f2fs so it works but unmodified versions have a lot of issues and some of them doesn't even boot on f2fs

If you had searched for your problem, you would have come across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oos-3-5-2-comunity-build-t3461648/post68691560#post68691560. Reflash it in fastboot and it will work.

Are you running official TWRP? CM14.1 requires modified TWRP and I believe most people are using version 23 (Credits to @eng.stk) for CM14.1.

This is quite funny (obviously not to you and no offense) and sad, but people that have been used CM14.1 for a while have said the same thing for about 2 months now: "people coming to CM14.1 from 13 are in for a mess"

No offense taken. This is just what happens if you venture using MODs with limited knowledge
But the misery of updating hasn't ended yet. So now I have access to TWRP, and I had done a TWRP nand backup before going to CM14, but I found out this was from the Boot, System, EFS and System Image, but NOT from the 'data'. When I restore everything I have I do get back into CM13, but nothing is working and it's rebooting all the time. Completely useless. I just checked and both my data and sd-card are intact. So I don't understand why I am not just getting back to the state I was before starting the CM14 misery. Is this because files on the 'data' got changed when doing the OTA CM14 nightly?
I also tried first restoring the image and then putting the CM13 nightly that I came from on top of it. Same ****. Also tried other way around, first CM13 nightly from TWRP, and then the image restore ('data' excluded since I didn't have that) on top of it. Also no luck.
Anyone an idea how to get back to my CM13?
By now I have wasted a full working day. I regret ever installing CM14, I just want to get back to the situation yesterday with a working CM13... :crying:

I had to clean flash a new cm13 rom :/

Why were you unable to use your backup to restore CM13? In my case I didn't have a backup of the data-partition, which I think is the problem. But if you have a complete backup you should be able to get it back right? Isn't that the whole purpose of doing a backup before you update the ROM?

Okay so if you restored a complete backup and still wasn't able to get back to a working CM13 then we probably have exactly the same issue.
It could also be related to the TWRP version we have installed now, maybe the new TWRP is not able to handle CM13. Anyone here to comment on this?

Which TWRP version are you using? I flashed the 3.0.2.1-v23 and it supports cm13, because o already flashed a new cm13 rom and I'm using TWRP normally.

Bootloop while flashing Custom ROMs

I am using TWRP 3.1.1 on my redmi 1s and was using AOSP Extended Rom v4.4 .I thought of trying the phone encryption option but the device went into bootloop. Now only MIUI rom is working and all other ROMs' flashes result into bootloop. Recovery is fine. Is encryption the problem.
First, flashing custom roms requires firmware: get it at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73812026&postcount=2
2nd some roms has problems within zip files causing some bootloops or error while flashing
for example AOSP EXTENDED ROM, there is a work around for that get it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72648733&postcount=223

But I had previously flashed several ROMs without any problem they worked fine(even AOSP Ext). The glitch came after trying to encrypt my phone after which it went into bootloops. Strangely MIUI roms are working fine and recovery also looks good. could anyone please suggest what is the problem.I really hate MIUI.

Well I was unable to solve my problem with this but I ahve a question when do I have to flash this before flashing the ROM or after flashing this rom I am making a YouTube video on this issue so your opinion will help a lot thanks.
i have the problem on all oreo roms, i press encrypt, then i see the custom logo loading, and at the reboot i am STILL UNENCRYPTED. the problem is that being unencrypted i do not see any option to use the FINGERPRINT scanner!

YouTube App not working on MIUI Official global stable 9.5.6.0 OEIMIFA ROM

Hi all, I flashed the MIUI global stable 9.5.6.0 ROM through a fastboot flash and everything is working perfectly, except for the YouTube app. When I open the app it just keeps showing the circle loading animation and remains there, even after selecting trending, subscriptions, library or even searching.
Oddly enough, when I flashed the 9.2.7.0 NEIMIEK Nougat ROM through fastboot, YouTube was working fine. However, upon updating to MIUI 9.5.6.0 Oreo through updater app, the YouTube problem came up problem. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this issue? Any help is appreciated.

I've already done so but the same issue persists.
did u try updating the app?
From my experience, when such things occurs, that's almost always "incomplete" ROM flashing.
There is big chance that some partition didn't flash correctly and that this particular app have some residual data and it's in some "limbo" state.
My advice to You is to make clean flashing procedure.

Yes it is!
I didn't get impression that You have flash fastboot type of firmware! If this is the case, what flashing procedure did You choose?!
You should choose flash_all.bat or flash_all.sh (this depends on OS on which You are, if You are on Windows (flash_all.bat + MiFlash application) or Linux (from terminal sudo ./flash_all.sh)) If You flashed this way, than phone is in stock condition and there is no reason that some rudimentary app like YouTube can not work! Then Your problem is somewhere else (maybe network related issue?)

Auto Rotate is not working

Hello guys!
Recently the sensor (auto rotate screen, gyro, etc) of my phone stopped working after installed Dot OS 5.1.2 (android 11) , and i didn't liked at all, so i've wiped dalvic, system, cache, internal storage, etc - (default method that everyone does)
and i've installed Corvus OS 9.0 (android 10) again that was the current OS that i'm using right now.
i've downloaded the sensor check that i found in google play, and seems like it's not installed in my device or corrupted, and i don't know what to do.
Could anyone can solve this? use apps to rotate the screen is so boring
Barring a hardware problem, reverting to stock ROM with MiFlash should fix that; if it does, you can then start over with your prefered custom ROM.

Yeah, it was it! maybe because when i was flashing another rom, in the twrp there was a box to check "persist" and i've checked because i didn't know what was it, so, because of it when i flashed a new rom, the auto rotate isn't working because it wasn't installed. now i can rotate my screen without use secondary apps \o/ thanks a bunch!
