You can try editing the build prop.file
Goto root explorer /system mount folder in R/W and open build.prop file text editor. Scroll down to the bottom and see if there's some code like this "debud.sf.nobootanimation=1" delete this last line, save and reboot.
Let me know if this works.

Lineage os bootanimation for J5

IN THE NAME OF GOD
Hi guys, a lot of people here want to get Lineage OS on their J5, our developers working on that and they will realease it in the near future.
Since Lineage OS is basically CyanogenMod, I decided to find and install Lineage OS Bootanimation because I like it and also because it make me feel more having Lineage OS already installed..
So here is a simple tutorial, follow all the steps carefully and you will not have any problem, at least I hadn't.
1. Download here the bootanimation.http://www.mediafire.com/file/la7x6w1re5mvc3f/bootanimation.zip
2. Open any root explorer and grant permission.
3. Go to System > Media (folder).
4. Rename current bootanimation.zip to old-bootanimation.zip
5. Go to storage where you downloaded the new bootanimation. Copy and paste it in the Media folder where you previously renamed your old-bootanimation.zip
6. Now you should have two zip files: old-bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip
7. Reboot to see the changes and enjoy your new Lineage OS bootanimation!
I personally installed it and had no problems.
any pictures of it?

Just copy whatever you want in system/media/audio ringtones-notifications-ui-alarms :good:
Non rooted?
No sweat!
Install ES file explorer - play the sound file in its internal player and in the menu (top right corner) choose "set ringtone": you will see a submenu: set ringtone/set notification/set alarm.
Choose what you need.

I have created a small app to do this on not rooted phones...
For those that aren't using ES Explorer and similar apps...
It supports ringtone sound, notification sound and also alarm sound.
