I had something akin to a circle launcher on the left side of the screen, but I terminated it. Not sure what it was or how to get it back. Can someone help me?

I'm currently trying to skin my phone. Using the latest stable CM6.
I figured out how to customize the jog tags in the lock screen, But can't figure out which one is for the backgorund. If I can't then that's alright I guess. It's the Status bar I really want working.
I'm trying to change that little CM6 icon in the status bar.
But when I photoshop it and put it back in, it stretches the image. But when I check the image the resolution is the same. idk what I'm doing wrong with that.
What I'm doing is finding the little cm6 icon, named "status_bar_close_on_cust.9.png," and simply photoshopping over it, flattening layers and saving. When I put it back in it turns out like the screen shot.
Also, the background for the status bar, "status_bar_background.png."
I copied the custom background from blackslide and photoshopped something over that as well. When I boot that didn't show at all.
EDIT: Figured that one out, didnt' realize there was an image for custom ones.
Just the icon thing I need help with now.
Anyone familiar with this stuff?

(FYI I thought it'd be cool to make a theme for my fraternity. The lock screen is our diamond. I used the phoenix from our crest as the wallpaper.)
The picture I've attached explains it best. For comparison, I've put the original foto next to the screenshot.
You can see the upper shadow right above the clock (Minimalistic Text). The shadow on the bottom is right above the nav bar.
I'm using CM9 with Apex Launcher. No other mods regarding the homescreen.
Any ideas what is causing this and/or how to get rid of it?

Apex/Nova all have this.
There MAY be an option to remove it...haven't dug around too much.
There is a "Hide shadows" option in the Screen settings of Apex Launcher.

OK first of all I'm not even sure anything like this is possible, but here's what I mean.
Take the normal white dots inside the navbar circle that follow your finger around and replace it with something like in the attachment. Is there already something like it maybe? I couldn't find anything... I just think that would be really awesome to have lol.
I've looked around and most are only for the S3. I was going to try them but can't make a backup right now. Is there a way to remove the am/pm? or the clock completely? Just like how it shows when on the pin/pattern lockscreen.

Pretty sure Its an xml edit which I have done before on the captivate but it has been a while. Ill give it a try when im done classes
Edit: Scratch that computer is on the fritz but a less permanent and slightly more glitch way to do it is by downloading omega status bar from the market
I have been playing around with Zooper for awhile now, but I can't seem to get a grip with the whole bitmap. I have been trying to create a battery bar using minimalistic battery icons that I found on Deviantart. I came across a thread that instructed to make sure a ZIP of your icon pack is within the sdcard/iconsets or something along those lines.. I have tried this but did not show up when I choose an iconset :/...
Hopefully this isn't confusing for anyone haha.. Would greatly appreciate it though if anyone can help me with this ;_;
