Enable Require Pin to Start Device. - Honor 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Can someone please tell me how i can enablle Require Pin to Start Device.
This option does not pop up when i create a screen lock pin like in Stock Android. Even though the PIN is set the bootloader opens up without asking for the PIN. is there as way we can do.

I don't know About the feature of locking bootloader with PIN , but after setting PIN and restarting the device, It asks For PIN, not FPS.

Yeah.. Not sure on the bootloader part... But rest works fine... My other devices (oneplus3, zenfone2 with lineage os) ask pin for getting into recovery after i setul this required pin to start device...

I dont think so, I found that this isnt just a issue with Honor 8 Pro but with EMUI in general.

Head over to the custom ROMs thread in development forum. If you are coming from stock, unmodded EMUI, you need to format data to remove encryption. Otherwise your phone will ask a password on boot, which the users don't know.

You need to flash a boot image with forceencrypt flag turned off. Read more on the TWRP thread.

I had it working before also in Honor 8 B385. OldDroid was saying something about flashing a file that would keep the device from being encrypted at boot. But I can't find it anywhere.

But I could not pass SafetyNet check.
First time I flashed a zip to remove dm-verity and it ran into bootloop. Make sure you don't do that

Root for XA1 G3121

Has anybody found an exploit to root this handset?
Just read up on it. I rooted my G3123 with a quick search here. You will use a root method for the Ultra. I'll look for it when I have time and post you the link. The only problem is supposedly the image quality on pictures goes down, but I didn't notice anything on my phone.

Installed Oreo Beta On Honor 8 Pro at Last!

Thanks to 23anand23 for his post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75120971&postcount=208) on how to update Indian DUK-L09 to Android 8 (unlocked bootloader needed) There is no problem in unlocking the bootloader, it's easy and non tedious job and the bootloader can be easily unlocked later if you want.
Everything is same except the new Oreo features. Also, I heard that it has Project treble support. As we know that Treble makes updates easy, but do you really think we will be getting updates?
[I am using Nova Launcher, so there are two images, one with default launcher and one with Nova]

There is no chance of hard bricking whatsoever by simply flashing a system image.
Use TWRP for what it's for, backing up then flash whatever you want.

Tbh I don't think lineage would really be that useful on this tablet. Yes Samsung experience isn't as smooth but the features Samsung adds is actually useful on a tablet. Like DEX. Hide nav bar button etc . Lineage you would loose most of this

Hi dr460nf1r3,
I tried flashing twrp from this post several times after reseting by flashing a stock firmware, but every after flashing twrp, my device just boot loop and wouldn't get into OS. I downloaded system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img from here and flashed it, boot loop still appeared.
Details of my trying:
1. Reset device by flashing one of below stock firmware:
2. Make sure OEM unlocked, go to download mode, untick 'Auto reboot' in and then flash twrp_3.2.3-2_sm-t830_26918.tar with AP slot in .
3. Press volume up and Power buttons to go to twrp, at this , internal storage is not accessible, but I have an external micro sd card, which is accessible in twrp.
4.
a. If I reboot device, boot loop happens.
i. If I flash system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img to twrp's system partition, the flash is ok, but boot loop still happens.
b. If I flash TabS4_oreo_forced_encryption_disabler.zip and format data and then reboot to twrp, internal storage is accessible now, like below:
i. If I flash system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img in twrp's system partition, the flash is ok, but boot loop still happens.
boot loop screen:
I really want to flash a gsi rom because I'm a android developer, and firmwares mess up numbers of system code therefore is unfriendly to debugging. On the contrary, devices keep their numbers of code accurately same with system code in android sdk.
