Model of the phone you're using? And btw, we can't root Lollipop (yet) so you need to downgrade to Kitkat in order to root, then flash a stock Lollipop ROM with root included.

3. And this tutorial helps you to revert back to kitkat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 Just follow instructions there, it's easy
4. After reverting back, root your phone with PurpleDrake: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000 Again, it's easy just follow everything there.
5. Download Super SU from Play Store.
6. Now download TWRP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/recovery-teamwin-recovery-modem-support-t2939088 Save it to your SD card
7. Flash TWRP using Flashify (download from Play Store also)

[Q]Locked bootloader

So i was trying to install custom rom on my htc desire 816 dual sim . I successfully unlocked the bootloader , installed TWRP . I backedup the phone and then the memory was full . I perfomed a full swipe and the OS was also deleted . I locked the bootloader and now when i am trying to unlock it , the phone shows yes/no selection screen , when i select yes , phone will get stuck at entering recovery . Need help ASAP

update :- I submitted device in the service center and after 2 weeks i got my device back . they replaced the mainboard for free and the device is working fine now

I think u should flash the stock rom (RUU) by HBOOT first then try again

how can i flash it ? I am actually new to android

u can search the right stock rom on google with your ccid, and follow the instruction. It's very simple, no need flash tool or something similar.
In my case, i only have to download the rom, rename and put it on sdcard. Boot in bootloader and the HBOOT do the rest.

btw, that's the right rom for ur phone. Download and rename it to 0P9CIMG.zip, put it on sdcard and boot into bootloader. Just press volume up to confirm one. And wait it to be done.

it's lollipop sense 6, ur old link is kitkat 4.4 sense 5.5

be very careful with the update as you may lose your antenna by flashing a wrong radio. but It should refuse to install if it's not the right one anyway

No VoLTE after rooting [India - Jio 4G]

After rooting (unlock bl, changing recovery to TWRP, Factory reset, installed SU) my Reliance Jio app is not detecting the SIM card to enable VoLTE. However, 4G data is working fine in the same SIM card. Is root is the cause for this ? is there any place I have to enable VoLTE in OP3 after a factory reset/wipe ?
In OP official forum someone said that I have to enable enhanced LTE in Cellular Network settings. But I couldn't find it there. Please advice.

How u got sim, almost all retail asking for samsung phone

Mine is working fine even after rooting. I am also using Jio sim. Can you please explain how you rooted the phone?

Working for me too although I haven't rooted but my bootloader is unlocked.

Unlock bootloader > flash TWRP (Official) and flash SuperSU beta.

Well I Dont have it in my phone. I guess this is a network issue in Kerala, India. Because put my sim card in another device which worked previously is not working now too.

Did you get Volte back? I have the same issue after rooting.
Update: Nevermind, it was AFWall blocking VoLTE

Simply rooting your device can't break something like this. Make sure you provide more info like which rom are you running, which kernel, any mods, xposed installed or not,etc.
Also check by putting your sim in in other device. It can be related to your are too.

There was a bug in version Jio App 3.2.05 which can be used to generate the code and using that code with I have got the sim.
This may not be working now but you can try.
Process:
1) Install Jio App where 3.2.05
https://apkpure.com/myjio/com.jio.m...tails/version&fid=c/APK/1591/0219981173ee6905
2) If you have installed any other jio apps uninstalled it before installing MyJio
3) Now Install all My Jio apps one by one by clicking on install all jio apps.
4) Once installed all jio apps, disconnect WiFi/Mobile Data.
5) Now open MyJio 3.2.05 app with internet off and tap on Open button on MyJio tile, you will get Get Jio Sim Button.
6) Then enable Internet connect and tap on Get Jio Sim button proceed further take screenshot of the generated bar code.
If ask you for Samsung smartphone just make some excuses like that's your father's smartphone etc. or try onto any other store in your locality or try to get a samsung phone from a friend.

hi in my phone i have enhanced lte option and i have enabled it yet i cannot make calls. i can make calls with jiohdvoice app but not through stock dialer also even after enabling enhanced lte there is no volte indicator. i'm on stock 3.2.7 and stock kernel. I'm rooted ofcourse and on official twrp. can any one help me out?

You have to select "preferred SIM for cellular data" as SIM 2 (Whichever VOLTE SIM you want to use)
At Once, only 1 sim can have VOLTE if you are referring to use VOLTE on both sims at once. Thats not possible.

Copy to root of internal storage (providing you have WW fingerprint and unlocked bl etc...), restart and update. Don't restart if you want root. Just click 'later' then turn phone off, boot to fastboot and 'fastboot flash boot rootww190825.img'. Root boot contains latest magisk v.20...
NOTE: The root boot img does not have a working recovery, only the stock does. So in the event of requiring recovery, flash stock img first...

Yes, you can go straight to this version without the need to flash previous versions. Have you checked that your device is WW, fingerprint and all? If not, install device info hw from the playstore and under system it will show rom, product id and fingerprint, if they're all WW then you are good to go...
Yes, regarding root, if or when another update comes out, you need to wait until the rooted boot is released too, Flash it as per op

I managed to update from 1908.12 to 1908.21 and maintain root by following the guide mentioned in https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/update-root-t3977143 so I don't think it's required to flash the boot image each time.

only reason i recommended to flash boot is because i tried to update root using this method on one version and it left my device unbootable, on another it just would update, kept saying download failed or something, so i avoid saying about it.
incidentally, from .12 to .21 did you use the ota method, or direct install (recommended)? i couldn't get it to go...

I used the OTA method and it luckily worked!
Btw the links in the OP are not working for me. It's giving an error that file is currently not available.

For those who are already rooted it is not necessary to put the root image by adb, simply from magisk before restarting the device you go back, you get into magisk and give it to install, you choose the option of ota and voila.

Thanks for the insights. Have you guys noticed any problems? Basically my goal is to root the device and get rid of all the xiaomi bloatware and google stuff as much as possible and install FOSS apps with root access to apps that need it.
Also what are the disadvantages of not having twrp in this case?
And can I lock the bootloader back after Im done altering the ROM?

Yes... You can Lock Bootloader , if u need...
If u want delete System App, Like a Google App and Miui , I thing u can't delete Parmanen...
I already Try that, but Can't delete...
But I try delete Use Xiaomiflashtools , in home screen App removed In XFT , app that Gone... But I'm check in SYSTEM , App Still Have...

I assume you have Mi 11 lite
In that case you download Mi unlock tool https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
Setup a Mi account and log into it on your mobile and register using your mobile data
After that use Mi unlock tool to unlock bootloader
And then follow the guide as above

What I meant to say is that it fails trying to activate find phone with error saying something like cannot connect
