Birght
Even on low this sucker is real bright. Had to use a screen filter

Me too. Screen filter is the only solution

someone made a kernel with lowered brightness

Too bright indeed

Pretty much every Sony phone I've had the pleasure of using does not get dim enough for use in low light. I use Twilight to get adjustable profiles for filters. @lonewolfbtown Whats the Kernel with a better minimum brightness?

The minimum brightness is low enough, but not the lowest I've seen. Among my devices the Nexus 7 (2013) can go lower, so to compensate I use Twilight to introduce additional dimming. As I already use Twilight to automatically cut blue light at dusk, this is not an inconvenience.

Although this is a very old thread, I have noticed that my recent A2017G from Amazon.es has a very high minimum screen brightness. It is in fact binding when checking emails with the stock email app (with its white background) in a dark room.
Do others have the same thing?
My LG g4 can go way darker.

Mine too. Lo compré en Amazon también...
I use CF.lumen in combination with Pixel Filter for nighttime reading. This makes the display as dim as I want, and thanks to the AMOLED screen, it actually emits less light as you go dimmer, while the same Apps on an LCD screen will just put more blankets over the backlight that's still blasting right in your face.
Since you can achieve pitch black with CF.lumen alone, Pixel Filter might not be needed. I just use it to save some extra juice by shutting off half of the display entirely.
It would be nice if the regular brightness slider would go a bit dimmer, but the scheduling options of CF.lumen make it very bearable

A little too high. Needs some screen filter.
Sent from my DUK-L09 using XDA Labs
is adequate for normal usage. no complaint with min brightness.
For me a bit hit high but ok no complain
Just enough for night reading.
I miss the days where we can get really low levels of brightness.
i use screen filter to use at night

could be dimmer...
Yeah the screen doesn't get nearly as dim as several Samsungs I've owned (S5, S6, S7)
The lowest speaker setting is also a fair bit louder than most phones.
Yes, the minimum screen brightness is quite high but it's nothing compared to sound volume.. !
For the display I use "dimmer" from F-Droid, a 2015 but solid app. I just launch it using a gesture in nova launcher (then it simply sits in the notification area)
Unfortunately I Haven't found something as convenient for the volume.
Sorry wrong thread

Minimum brightness is just enough for eye comfort.
Nothing extraordinary here. on darker room or under roof condition, this is ok and are easy on eyes and min brightness works well under such scenario
use app screen filter to make it as dark as you like, even 100% dark (off)

Didn't get you mate. Please explain. I am not sure.
I have the cousin Huawei GT3 which is a honor 5C with fingerprint scanner and its brightness it surpasses my eyes on maximum, so i keep it at 54% which is enough and still very bright on ambient light .
