Software (ease of use, features, etc) - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Real Life Review

The worst part of the device is its stock ROM.
It is called ZUI, I guess short form for Zombie UI. Feels so dead. This ROM ruins the user experience and makes a SD820 phone feel like 4xx series.
However this complain may only come from an user like me, who has been using Moto E then switched to Moto G3 TE and used to the stock Android experience along with the features.
ZUI try to force an iOS like feel with an Android device. Very alienated experience for an Android user.
But the average Joe won't complain. Day to day tasks are easy to find and operate !! SD820 is a monster and makes this crappy ROM fly without any stutter, lag or hiccups.
The only good thing is XDA and many developers have bought this phone. So fully functional custom ROMs aren't in short supply. There is a ROM for everyone's taste.

Plus i hate the non stock android. It doesn't feel like you are using a phone powered by sd820. It is difficult to find the setting which is usually in the main categories of the settings app on a stock phone. I strongly want to flash a rom which improves the user experience, takes full advantage of having a sd820. I really like the changable modes on the aicp 13.1. And should i expect nova like features on aicp or other roms?? Or any other good suggestions??
Sent from my ZUK Z2 (Plus) using XDA Labs

Zui is fine for average user. For power user, go for viper os final.

100% only 5 stars apply here
Fastest Android phone I've used to date.
very fast android, slightly ahead of my other device, Xiaomi Mi5.
Good.
On 7.0 its a bit faster than on 6.0
In comparison to other e.g. One Plus it looks like a bit slower. But overall it is pretty good.
Everything is instant.
S7 8.0 oreo
On the last software update, everything is smooth. The apps open up very fast, for such an old phone. I've made a side-by-side comparison with iphone x (app-opening speed test) and the results were suprising. In many cases, the S7 opened the apps faster (netflix, facebook, gmail, whatsap, etc).

OEM skin/software

Are you comfortable in your own skin? Is your phone comfortable in its skin? Rate this thread to express how you deem the skin on the OnePlus 3. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it adds just the right amount of features, it's visually pleasing, and overall it's additive to the experience. If this is a Nexus phone (you didn't think we hand-wrote all of these prompts, did you?) then use this rating to indicate how the latest version of Android looks to you.

I keep telling people that the only thing better than stock Android is OxygenOS. It has a small handful of helpful features, like button customization and dark mode, to make using the phone more pleasureable than even a Nexus.
For me stock Android is the worst. Zero personalization. Oxygen OS has some tweaks but this is still not enough. I've flashed Ressurection Remix on the first day
More customisation than stock Android, but less than CM. Love Oxygen OS !
It's truly the bee's knees. Wholeheartedly agree with @svetius. Much better to use than a Nexus. Love the gestures and button customization.
I'm really happy about software, I would like a screenshot gesture like my previous zenfone 2 ... that's it

This phone has nearly everything I want in a phone: FM support, Infrared Blaster, Big screen, Great battery life.
However.... the actual phone part...it's only GSM and not CDMA...thus the calls aren't great, and the lack of a noise canceling extra microphone is also a bummer. That said it has most of what I reaaally want in a phone. None of the new handsets seem to offer infrared and FM support AND CDMA and Noise canceling.
Right now I'm going back and forth between my LG V10 and my lovely Mi Max. The LG has superior cel call quality and thus is what I'm using right now. But that big lovely Mi Max screen calls out to me....asking me to take her back...
Do I love this phone? I do... She's just old fashioned enough to speak my language when it comes to IR and FM...but new enough to be Phabulous...

cant be better at just 10k
Best phone I've ever had, (and I have had a few flagships that left me wondering if they were worth it). And the ratio of price/features-performance is amazing (bought it around February this year).
This phone is awesome !!!!
Its a really awesome phone. With the custom rom this thing is a BEAST nothing can beat this phone.Just an issue of heating but overall this is really awesome. I hit 158k on benchmark
not perfect but you will eventually fall in love with its imperfections too
Lovely phone for its price. Fell on the road while riding on bike once, broke nothing. Just a corner bruise. I'm impressed. Using it without any protector or case cause I like my phone that way.
I am planning to buy a used Z2 Plus. I it is only phone with Snapdragon 820 in my budget. Do you think it is a good idea? After all, it has the best hardware considering the price and good ROMs are also available here. What do you think?

It just sits right there. Not perfect because of back being of gorilla glass too. Phone is a bit fat compared to other metal/plastic body ones and a bit heavier. For the price, its worth every penny.

Perfect phone for one hand use.
Powerful plus 5 inch.. any other brand would have sold it for 50K
Great hardware only needs good softwae optimization
I only hate the camera apartment from that the phone is great.
It's a Beast of a phone overall. I have been using this phone for nearly 5 months now on stock ZUI Unrooted(But I'm planning to flash Custom ROM). I got it for 8.5K under exchange best value for money. Performance is as expected from a Flagship phone. Gaming is Butter smooth but personally for me it's a dream come true. Was using Redmi 2 for past 2 and half years. Gaming Totally sucked in that phone. So from a Snapdragon 410 to Snapdragon 820 is a Huge jump in performance. All I can say is I'm Just Lucky to have bought this phone. BTW other than The heating issue the phone is fantastic. But there is a easy solution to the heating problem, just use the case provided by Lenovo free that's it???
This phone is average in when you use with stock rom but you feel awsome when your mind is techie.
There are draw backs but at the price point, it deserves full 5 star

I've had mine for a year-and-a-half now and have gone through 2 OS's and a plethora of updates " AT&T Model lol" and in terms of raw power, it's great. but keeping up that consistent speed and power requires you to do some routine based cache cleaning. no bueno means that is not a big deal to me because I've spent many many years was low-powered entry-level phones, but considering this thing was almost a $1,000, it should pretty much be-self automated. Not saying it's pain staking or tedious. I'm a heavy power user so after year and a half ago probably like 6 years old basically and it's about five steps to keep it running as good as I can to run pubg at the highest levels but an average user literally just hit the clean button that's it.
I apologize if some words don't make sense but I've gotten in an accident in my thumbs don't work that great and I live in a rule area so speech-to-text is not always correct and plus I can't find a special dialing one for my fat pudgy fingers LOL.
The V35 is noticeably faster and smoother than the V30. Not that V30 is a slow phone but the 845 is just better.
