Sadly, no. Honor 8 lite can't keep up with power users.

its a kirin chip so development is slightly slow.

developing and evolving slowly. Only 2 ROM at the moment but will evolve for sure with OpenKirin team.

not looking great right now.

If you're looking for a development-friendly phone, Honor is not the solution for you. We do have a program where we give out bootloader unlock codes to a select number of people every once in a while, but there is no official support for unlocking your bootloader. This results is a very small development community.

Has root and TWRP. Could be worse but could be much better!
Like others said, there is TWRP and a bootload unlock, but that is it. No modified ROMs or LineageOS.

overall looks is pretty good.
just like 5x..
Overall I'd give this a rating of 7/10.
So finally we have this section when I reported this to MODs as this was missing and created recently. Thanks MODs.
Coming to the phone part, yes this was a good choice the time when this was launched but now a days lacking the competition with 3 GB RAM models. This is currently in 10K INR in India and we get Honor 6X in 11K and definitely a worthy upgrade over 5C, 5X and many other out there.
Overall, This is not a bad choice when this was launched but if someone ask me to purchase this one today, I will recommend to go with 6X intead
Another phone not "loved" by Huawei.

Why not loved? It got the updates to emui 5 and volte in India. Have 3-4 good custom or say debloated stock ROMs.

But source was not released.
Highly acceptable for an affordable device
Bought recently one Huawei GT3 which is the European honor 5C on promotion (162 Euros) with fingerprint sensor and i really like this phone. It has good sound quality, RAM management is excellent with android 7.0, fluid interface and battery lasts for a while. Very sturdy and included a case , headphones, cable+powercord. I'm very happy
LAtest custom ROMs made the device worth...2 GB ram was good enough on EMUI 5 but custom made them even better.

fingers crossed
The kernel source has been available for some time now. If nobody actually makes proper device/vendor/kernel trees for custom roms, I will just try to make do with the stock kernel source, add things like KCAL to it and upstream it after we get Android Pie GSIs working with it.
Until then, I recommend patience.

It's Xiaomi so we ain't afraid at all haha
Xiaomi's Mi A series happens to have a huge fan following & the previous phones got good dev support. But Xioami didn't roll out Android 10 for A3 yet
I just hope devs will start working their magic when Xiaomi finally decides to release Android 10 for A3.
