Multitasking/RAM - Honor 8 Lite Real Life Review

You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the Honor 8 Lite performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the Honor 8 Lite keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Get's the job done with casual apps. Not much for intensive gaming.

emui 5 is doing a good jon in ram management and multitasking.

RAM management is better than MM but still EMUI kills 21st app all the time and keeps only 20 app in RAM. even those 20 gets killed, like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter.

Yeah. It can accomodate only 20 apps at any point of time. Have checked this on KK, LP, MM and Nougat.

Seriously though. Android 6 is not much of an upgrade over "Android 5.1". If google were to be honest they would have named it "android 5.2"
I much prefer a bug-free 5.1.1 Rom than a buggy 6 rom. For example fixing all the battery issues would be nice (no serious leaks, mask the dreaded "15%" issue, etc)...

Thank Farming. Thread Closed.

Need some feedback and advice from you guys about 7x.

I'm planning on getting a backup phone (Have a s8plus and mix2). I see that Kirin SOCs aren't getting much attention from devs. Based on your experience, will this change? Or am I better off waiting for the Redmi note 5?
PS: Also how is the UI? Just okay or buttery smooth? That k you in advance.

Not sure about development.. I don't think u will get great development like Redmi...
Regarding UI. Its superb.. No lag. No stuttering. No heat. Its butter smooth only.. May be u won't get timely updates but having a bugfree OS is better than getting buggy updates every months...

If Oreo is to be, it's gonna be late

Hello friends and family!
As I stated at one of my first posts if Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus should get official update from Samsung to Android 8 Oreo it will not be soon.
Based on what's been happening so far and back last year I'll say we'll get it in June 2018.

No hurry to update.
Especially if it means turining touchwizz into Samsung Experience.
During official Oreo update.
I must say Oreo did not improve my battery life. It dies slightly faster if anything. And my phone never got hot before oero. Warm yes, but not hot like my s7.

Android 7 is ok. Oreo has some improvements I really prefer however. While I can get split screen on nougat too, Oreo has a screen in a screen so I can watch YouTube and put it into a smaller box and keep the rest of my screen for my game or browsing , the UI is also a bit better looking and the system is faster overall. No real lag or wait for things to open and run. But like any new OS the first few versions are plagued by bugs. I was fortunate enough to be able to fix all of mine and it's running smooth. Except NFC. But really.... Its NFC. I don't use it. Kernel auditor and background restrictor improved the battery. The heat issue I've not defeated yet. Its obvious its pushing the Gpu harder then necessary, it's currently only happening when a game runs. Maybe if I slow the max core speed and or take 2 of the 8 offline it will correct it

yep, same here, no use for NFC (yet).
This split screen, is it something like KNOX to divide pro and priv stuff or just like 2 Tabs in a web browser?
This "split screen" is a bit unfortunate name now cause Xiaomi (dual apps and something else I forgot the name) uses something like that to do what KNOX does.

Take it apart. Replace RAM. Been done on other phones like the LG Nexus 5X.
https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x-hardware-modded-to-upgrade-ram-from-2gb-to-4gb/
But you probably ruin the IP68 protection.

Why stop at 6GB? Why not 8GB?
Or you just used the 6GB RAM module from the V30S? It's compatible, because it's a "V30" JOAN also.
But like I said before, you probably ruin IP68 protection - - unless you have access to skills/tools to restore that.
I'm good with 4gb.
Had before a Z2 with 3GB and that was enough for me, now with 4 GB im happy too.

ip 68 die。It is now estimated that it can only be splash-proof.
Occupy 4gRAM every day, the game takes up to 4.8gRAM, 8g is completely unnecessary, I will not try to run more programs because of the extra RAM (8G), 3300 mAh battery I think is not enough with 8gRAM:victory:

OK, got it welcome to xda. did you get any photos taking the phone apart? where did you get the ram from? maybe you could change the thread title to something like "how to upgrade the ram in your v30" ?
just that most new folks on here start off by saying, "what phone case can I buy", "which colour should I get" or "is it possible to root my v30"
I don't game on my phone (I have a nice 17" asus rog laptop for that) so couldn't see myself ever doing this but good job anyway
one more post and you should be able to post pics here :good: (i think the limitation was ten posts first, then able to post links?) interested in this too hrhr

Agreed.
i always wonder why Chinese market Android phones have more ram then US/Euro models. It is because they don't run have Google Services? Do the multiple app stores in China necessitate more RAM? Maybe government mandated spyware would slow down the phone without the extra memory?

For a budget device I think it's normal. Most of the budget device only get 1 major update and 2 years of security patches.
Flash any of the roms and be happy. For smooth and bug free experience I would recommend PE and arrow.

There won't come any further updates, February security patch was the last update.
And about Gcam... I think mobile data is more important isn't it?
If there will be no further updates, then is it safe to use the device, particularly for banking transactions?

I read some comments about bootlooping, and as the partition was encrypted users had to format internal storage, thus loosing all their data.

Flash the ROM you want and then just don't encrypt the data. The data is unencrypted in most ROMs by default. So if using an unencrypted phone doesn't bother you then you will be fine.
