I'm finding the call volumes to be fairly low at the highest volume levels. Anyway to raise the upper limits without root?

It's not likely without root, but may be possible with an app. Like this

Haven't tried it yet.

Call quality is very high.
Call quality is a definite reason to get this phone. Coming from a Nexus4, calls are clearer and more intelligible on both ends.
I have found call quality to be great. Great volume and clarity for me and the person on the other end.

It's always clear and concise! The only mild complaint I have is that this phone seems to have noise cancellation... For the person on the other end? If the other person is not talking the call goes so quiet (no background noise) that I can't tell if it hung up. And this has happened with everybody I've called. It's very bizarre but I kind of like it.
Take for order on older forums!

On a noisy environment i am not able to hear clearly other person voice. Also the volume is a bit low
So far on a handful of calls I can hear them very clearly. No distortion. On their end I'm very clear. On some it sounded like a tin echo here and there, but not every connection is perfect. Overall the call quality is great. Volume seems good also. I haven't had a call where the surrounding area was very loud, but I have talked next to a loud TV, and even with that both sides were loud and clear. I never found myself straining my ear to hear. The noise canceling mic does it's job well.

Yes, I fully agree after 2 weeks with my Maze Alpha. The only issue is since the speaker is very small integrated in the upper border, it's quite easy that you don't put your ear perfectly in front of it, making the volume looks low. It happened several times to my wife ( Maze Alpha's owner too).. Moreover than this, quite good quality call

If you're having call issues, in wifi, switch to wifi calling. It's incredible.
Call quality was great so far, the top speaker is very loud by default and I had to tone it down, the other party confirmed call isolation works much better than my previous Sony XZ, I haven't used wifi calling yet since I have a UK unlocked model, that would help it too.
