HTC Desire 530 - HTC Desire 530 Questions & Answers

Alright so I currently don't have a PC.
And iv already messed around with trying to root with non legit apps
Now I know there's a way to to adb side load over wifi
Using another device using the terminal. I just can't find a legit guide to get me threw the process of being able to connect the 2 devices threw the emulator terminal.
I haven't rooted since back when untouched 3g was out. And then I was a proud owner of the oneplus one so there was no need to root.
I'm looking to root unlock bootloader get custom recovery the whole deal. Just need the correct way to connect to adb without PC

[Q] Rooting this device

Hello Everyone. Im receiving my slide tomorrow and you already know i must root this (been a g1 user with root for 2 years now). But as i see, rooting this device isn't like a G1 and this involves ALOT of adb work which in my situation kind of sucks because my windows vista fails and wont boot and im stuck on ubuntu and my adb on ubuntu is kind of crazy (doesn't adb push anything and it doesn't seem like all the adb commands even work.. only thing that seems to work is getting an logcat) and all rooting methods involve using windows. I don't know which version my slide is going to come with i dunno if its going to have the OTA update or not already preinstalled because if it does i can't use the linux simpleroot by eugene and wesgarner because it requires you to be on the stock firmwire. Also from researching i see hardly anyone can revert back to the stock firmwire. So any suggestions? I hate being on Stock.. Alot lol

Trying to get SuperCID

I previously rooted using Gfree but I opted to use the "s -off" method only instead of doing the whole she-bang. I'm going back and performing all the steps now but I cannot get past getting a root shell. My Terminal Emulator closes but I cannot open it again the second time. It just freezes for awhile but never works.
How do I fix this?
Hey,
Probably a dumb question, but have you tried via ADB? the guide in my signature is the one that i used to get everything unlocked though ADB if you wanted to give that a try.
I use ADB to push the files and that's about it.
Terminal freezes as soon are you enter in su? Are you sure you were properly rooted before?
Also, are you trying the whole rooting process again (as in using rage to temp root)? This isn't necessary if you already have permanent root. You just have to run gfree as stated in the Wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Unlock_the_Phone.2C_Set_SuperCID.2C_and_Turn_Radio_S-OFF
Yeah I'm already permanently rooted. I'll try ur advice later today. Thanks!

What Z4 Root app work with the EVO?

I know I saw a Z4 root app that worked with the evo can anyone point me in the correct direction?
Last time I rooted the Evo was back around launch when I nand unlocked my Evo. I am trying to do a simple root to load a rom for a buddy on his phone and cant seem to find anythig as simple as loading an apk and clicking a button like with z4. I used z4 on the droid x and on htc Hero with success and I thought I saw one that was for the Evo as well but I cant seem to find it.
Thanks, Thomas
All I want is to unlock the phone simply, so that I can load a rom. I can do everything else fine I just cant unlock this phone. I can use the original method because its been updated past that point and I dont want to add things to my computer to root.

There is no app that will give you permanent root on the Evo. If you run an app like Z4 or Visionary, it will give you temporary root access. You will lose root upon rebooting the phone. Therefore, you would not at all be able to flash any custom roms or anything, as you'd lose root as soon as you powered the phone down.
if you want to put a ROM on for him, you need a permanent root. There's no real way you can do that without 'adding things to your computer." There are a couple programs that will root you, that you run from your computer. one is Unrevoked (www.unrevoked.com) the other is called AutoRoot (by xHausx), which you can find in the development section. The other way is a manual method, using adb, and pushing files. It's also in the development section. The author of that thread is Zikronix. Any of those three methods will give you permanent root.

Unlock Root using Mac computer

I have a friend with a Mac computer and he has a galaxy nexus phone verizon. I was looking for an easy way to root and unlock his phone.
I noticed the Gnex toolkit does not work with Mac. He wants to install Jellybean on his phone. I was able to find a site that he can install Jellybean on his unrooted phone but I can't find a file to download it with. It says to download ClockworkMod but I need an app to open it with after I downloaded it. Also doesn't clockworkmod only work on rooted phones? I am open to all suggestions.

This will show you how to unlock your bootloader, load up JB, and even root.
Use Efrant's link above. The commands are all the same on a Mac, except you use Terminal instead of Command Prompt, you don't have to deal with drivers and the commands have "./" in front of them. For example:
Code:
./adb devices

[q] hellp need root on 2.3.5 without pc

I have an Evo 4g and the usb connector on the phone is broken. i have searched and searched for a way to root without a pc connection but i can't find anything. If someone can direct me to a thread that will help me solve this problem, or if you could give me the code to run that would be great too!
Don't think it can be done without PC.
If I remember correctly you need the computer to unlock at htcdev no matter what. After that you need it to flash recovery through fastboot. Then you need it to use revolutionary after downgrading to one of the supported updates. I can't remember specifics, been a long time since I rooted my evo
