I was thinking more about a simple protective case.. not too into the cover cases

I truly recommend Urban Armor Gear
https://urbanarmorgear.com/products/samsung-galaxy-a5-2017-case
I used one for my S5 and have dropped it numerous times onto concrete over 2.5 years and nothing ever happened to it.
So I got one for my A5 as well. It has already survived a few drops .

A cheap one
I recently bought a Spigen Liquid Air. My phone didn't fall but the case is very cheap and seems to be resistant.

I've trusted Spigen as always. Got the Liquid Air in black option. I really like matte finish on the sides and it's so far the best TPU case I've ever had on smartphone. And it's relatively cheap so...

Recommend verus high pro shield

Neon flip cover is very bad. Dont use this case.

Spigen Liquid Air in black option - solid standard with nice matte finish on the sides. I really can't complain. It is very solid.

I have not used SPIGEN dual-layer case for my A5 (yet); however, I have used SPIGEN dual's, like the one your link points to, for two years on my Nexus 5. It was a fantastic case and saved that phone's life more than once.

There's a chain of stores here in Toronto, Canada that sell a film-based protection. FONELAB. They have a tablet with every known smartphone's dimensions. You present your phone, they look it up in their database then laser cut a special military grade film to you device's exact dimensions and cutouts.. You can choose -- front only, back only or a full wrap. They then chemical clean your surfaces and apply the film using a wet process.
Very neat solution, especially for Edge phones.
This isn't so much for drop protection, though it is better than naked. The film cannot be cut or scratched. If you ever choose to remove it, it peels of WITHOUT an adhesive residue.

depends on what you need / want to use it for
For anyone that wants minimum protection, yet real protection then I also can recommend the Spigen Liquid Air Armor
The reason I say real protection, is that this one unlike many other cases does actually protect your phone also on the front side. It has good raised edges that protect your screen from falls.
I would still put this one in the category of the "regular" cases as it does not add much bulk to it. It is however more bulkier than those other ones that can be found in standard the phone shops. The reason is that most of the standard or cheap cases try to be as thin as possible to make it look good or make using it easier because of the now more curved edges phones have or the swipe menu movements. Resulting in low (al most screen height) and weak edges that cannot protect your screen.
The only thing i like less about this case is the sharp look it has on the design because of the edges, giving it a more square and strong look though.
I have seen another case, which was bought in a phone shop (Vodafone it was I believe), but I can't find this one in (Vodafone) shops locally. It was only in clear color i believe. but it was more rounded, felt slightly better in use but still good enough protection to not call it useless.

Do you believe that a leather wallet case can efficiently protect my A5 2017 from drops?

If OtterBox made a defender Case I would have gone for that but sadly no luck there so after an exhaustive search with not many promising results I ended up going with the UAG case and a glass screen cover designed to fit the curved screen. Altogether i didn't end up having to spend more than $50 and I am quite happy with the results and have dropped it on asphalt and concrete without any damage. I highly recommend the Urban Armor Gear case as the other options out there are purely superficial in regards to protection.

I had that first one... it was alright
honestly I'd get the cheapest clear case from ebay... after rocking a caseless galaxy s7 active I've come to enjoy minimalist designs even if the phone takes a beating from a drop. invest in a solid tampered glass screen protector though

I always buy the "cheapest one" I get (last is made of "leather"), is a flip case and cost around 6€ inclusive shipping - now I own it more than a year and it still look "good" and after all: it still works!

I bought the spigen liquid air is ****ing perfect

Video Review: Casemate TOUGH case for the Galaxy Note

Hello all,
I have bought a Casemate tough case and received it today and made a quick video on youtube about how it looks and feels on my channel.
In summary it is a fantastic case and the only drawback is the fact that it hand't been released earlier.

How thick does it make the device now?
It's not actually that bad to be honest. It gives it a "nice and comfortable" feel

How about when you put it in your pocket? is it still comfortable in there? I use TPU cases right now, and they're fairly slim as they are. But I never feel comfortable with them if I were to drop my device. They're just good for scratches, not for falls (which never happens, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later).

It fits into my pocket alright a nice fit without making it look like i am "excited" . I am 6'2" however so my pockets might be slightly bigger. With this I literally have no worries about it dropping. I probably don't even need the screen protector on the device.
If you look on my youtube channel there is another case review up from casemate too and the phone does seem just as secure without the added bulk.
Will it fit an extended battery?

Depends how big...a slight raise and you might just get away with it but an extended battery like a 4500mAh then no...This case is designed exactly for the normal battery with a tiny tiny bit of room if any
Nice lookin' case, shame it's only in black
nice case there, the only thing is it adds so much bulk to the note, that's my only concern with this case...

I see what you mean but I don't mind it as the phone is big already.
I just love the case because it is soooo comfortable to hold. I had it on my GS2 and I couldn't wait until casemate released it.
It would be worth trying it if you get the chance you won't regret it

Sure mate, might buy it later i guess...
Its always good to have choices..
I have a TPU gel S-Line wave case on my Note right now.
I intend to buy the Case Mate Tough, but there are some things I want to ask you about.
How does it feel when you press the power / volume buttons? I mean... do you feel it, or it's like... erm... dang. The feedback, is it good or bad?
Also, how "slippery" is it on the top/bottom edges (where the polycarbonate shell isn't holding it as tight as on the sides)? Bad enough to "slip" off a bit when you take it out of a tight pocket, or even when you drop it...?
---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:57 PM ----------
Oh and one more thing (not likely to be the last )... Did you get a screen protector inside the package? The store where I'm about to buy it from claims there is one in the package, although they don't mention whether it's made by Case-Mate (do they actually do screen protectos?) or some other firm, or if it's clear or matte or whatever...
The feeling is really good I loved it. The button feedback is great. I buy tough cases for all my phones as I love how they feel. The buttons are easy to press and the phone stays clean without any dirt getting in between the phone and the case.
With regards to screen protector, no there wasn't one and I am not aware that casmate do do any screen protectors. I usually go for zagg ones as I like them the most.

Thank you for the answer!
Then the store that is selling the case probably includes a crappy screen protector in themselves . Or CaseMate started to add this recently... who knows.
I'll buy it on wednesday. Hope I don't get one that has askew cut-outs and such, haha .
My case arrived just today!
It had a screen protector in the package... which was probably added by the shop, since the package was not sealed anymore and... oh well...
The screen protector was probably good, at least as good as those cheap ones you can get for a dollar a piece, but I f**ked up at installing it. I was planning to go down to a shop and buy a 3M Vikuiti screen protector (the vendor installed it, perfectly), anyway.
-----
The case is... well, it's bulky! It's really good, but installing it is a bit... well, it's hard. I did some drop tests with it, and the buttons were slightly off, also the lip... required some extensive pulling-with-teeth .
I'm dissapointed by the fact that they didn't add a few extra stripes of ABS on the top and bottom.... without those, those two sides are flimsy and easy to get off, you know... Anyway.
Also, the hard shell doesn't perfectly fit over the silicone glove, at least on the top side... but it's good enough.
For this kind of price, I was expecting utmost perfection, but it's good . To be honest, the S-Line wave TPU case I had before felt better in hand - also had better grip. Or perhaps I just need some time to adjust to this new case...
Also, hate how the silicone is a dust magnet.
-----
Anyway, this case is overall good. Definetly protects the phone well .
I used the case-mate tough case back when I had my Galaxy S and loved it! It offered outstanding protection from bumps and knocks so I purchased the case again for my Note. Used it for a few months but have since moved to the Mercury case. What made me change was the difficulty I had taking the phone out of my pockets. The textured surface of the case is nice to hold and feels good but it's too clingy to clothing, magnified by the size of the case's surface area ( probably why I never had the same problem with my Galaxy S). Still use it every now and again though.

The Mercury case seems to be a jelly case?
And it doesn't even cover the buttons...
Oh well. You should have bought the CUBZ S-Line wave TPU case instead, it's more good looking

Drop Protective Case?

Hello guys i m new here . I m going to get a red nexus 5 in 2 days, and i want to order a case from amazon probably. My last phone was xperia x8(lol too old) and it was very good in terms of drop resistance,i have dropped it like 5-7 times. For my nexus 5 i consider buying the official bumper (Sorry i cant use links since i m new here),the cruzerlite persona case ,THE CRUZERLITE BUGDROID CASE and THE TUDIA Ultra Slim Melody . However the last one, which i like the most(tudia melody) doesnt ship to Greece..
Could you guys reccomend me any good drop-protective cases for nexus 5 with a decent design? I dont want something too bulky or ugly. Also does the quality of screen protector matter? All the screen protectors from amazon dont ship to my country, and i will probably have to stick with some local ones. How terrible could they be!?
Thanks in advance. Any help will be appreciated !

Thanks for the reply ! In their official site it costs ~30 euro + 7 for delivery so its quite expensive (compared to the other cases that cost around 15 ). I watched the video that u sent me,so it seems its worth it . i will probably get this! Whats the matter with the red case ? ( I saw your comment in the video talking about the red case)
Edit: Why is there space in the bottom ? The phone will break if it lands this way.
IAt the bottom, there's still protection, even though it looks open. You can't get the glass to touch anything. Other people have mentioned this, but they are wrong. They don't own it.
It's only partially open at the bottom, to allow the speakers and usb port some room.
The materiel still runs along the very bottom, and on the front and back corners. Even at any angle, nothing on the phone will touch any flat surface.
Theoretically, if the phone was falling at a very severe angle and hit something small and hard that was protruding up from a flat surface, yes it could hit that.
But I have accidentally dropped the phone on hard surfaces and this case protected it.

Thanks. Ive seen some of other drop tests though from higher places. I cant post links,so if you want to watch type this in youtube : Nexus 5 Drop Test Part 2! (Tudia Melody Case) .
This case for example is much cheaper. But eventually i will probably go with the tech 21 ,i suppose its worth the extra $ . I must be really careful until the case arrives though!!!

I've seen an iPhone in a tech21 case fall 20 feet onto concrete with no damage. But that's an iPhone not a nexus. I own a tech 21, a slim armor, and a ballistic sg for my nexus. Personally I don't trust the tech21 to protect better than my other two cases. I also believe the ballistic will protect the best. I have no science or personal experience behind these statements being I have never dropped my nexus. The tech 21 feels best in the hand but looks like crap because the back is clear and scratches super easily. So I use the slim armor looks awesome and I think will protect against drops. I think the ballistic is the most protective case made for the nexus, but it's huge.

I saw a g2 drop test with slim armor and.. the screen broke.Seriously i begin to think that they is no way to protect the screen ,when dropping the phone.
These were done outside on Concrete:
Cruzerlite Nexus 5 Drop Tests (survives no problems) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY9Svj9fYVg
Tudia Melody Nexus 5 Drop tests (survives no problems) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbaz8FNY34A
Both much cheaper than the Tech21 and both protect extremely well on concrete drops and tosses. If you matched one of those TPU cases with a Tempered Glass Screen Protector such as the Nillkin H+ (I use it, it's fantastic and it's less than $15 on Amazon) you're pretty much covered for most drops.
Nillkin H+ promo video (a little over the top, but you get the general idea) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61fnJu3HZKg
Basically, one of those TPU cases + a Tempered Glass Screen Protector still comes out to cost less than the Tech21 and you have complete coverage.

Ya I saw that one too. I've also read a post here where somebody said their screen shattered while using a ballistic. I'd say you're right, there is no way to guarantee your screen won't break from a drop. That's why I chose the middle ground, between a good looking case and a protective case, and settled on the slim armor coupled with a ghost armor screen protector.

I m not limited ordering from amazon as long as the delivery prices are reasonable .For example ordering from tech 21 site is much cheaper and gets delivered much faster than amazon.Btw Which cruzerlite case would you recommend(in terms of material, not design) . Ebay has some crazy delivery prices ,for some things it needed up to 50$ for the delivery lol. You are right, the nilkin is available from one of the buying choises but it says it needs 2 months to ship ._ .

Good tough cases

Hi i have a Samsung Galaxy Ace3 LTE, is there a case like Spigen make for iphones they only seem to make top end phone cases. I worry i will drop it break the screen bit clumsy, and i don't like the wallet type case. I looked at Invishield i think its called for the glass at least, i could use a gel cover for back, but is the Invishield good for drops or just scratches?. A full case Armour is ideal but making one up if i knew how any ideas thanks
The problem is that all big case manufacturers only focus on popular Samsung models, like Galaxy S# series or Note# series. I never heard of Ace model before. So, your best bet is to search eBay for rugged case for your phone model. Yes, the quality is not going to be as top notch as Spigen or Seidio or UAG, but it should still work great and will protect your phone.
Invishield, ia screen/body cover? Those are for scratch protection only, and they distort your screen cover. You drop your phone, screen will break

Go on eBay, search for a tpu case. More protection than you should need. Better than those hard cases people like so much.

I have been using the Cruzerlite Bugdroid TPU case. It has a slim profile while feeling quite sturdy and able to withstand a drop. All my friends who have the OnePlus One have this case. It comes in a very very wide variety of colors, too. The only downside is that it does fade after a while, but it really isn't that bad or too noticeable. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the product. It is easy to find on Amazon.
Hope this helps.

I got this yesterday in mail (black and white colour). Very happy with the quality and all the ports/mic holes perfectly centered. sturdy feel. I dropped my phone 3 times without the case (luckily not much damage at all.. just minor ding on corner) and then i thought of buying a case before it has spider web screen.

That is a horrible looking case[emoji21] why would you hide the design of your phone with that? Get a Tudia TPU case and you should be fine.... Oh God.

I think that and the Tudia cases are ugly lol. Personally prefer the Diztronic or the Orzly fusion cases

Agreed, Diztronic ftw... dirt cheap but very good, even fast shipping (7 days to the Netherlands, NEVER longer... ordered like 6 different times)

Make sure you get the one I linked to, with the slightly bigger corners, better protection
I've had the Diztronic case for around 7 months now and it's been perfect. Protected when dropped, not too bulky, slight raised lip on screen side to protect screen when placed screen face down.
The only negative I can think of is that it does add a bit of weight to the phone, although I'm sure that is inevitable based on the protection it gives and also the sturdy nature of the material it is made from.

Exactly... you want protection? Then you're gonna feel it
Try a casemate barely there on your phone and see if it protects... makes me wanna cringe immediately
I wouldn't wanna droptest with that on, or any other "lookyoucanhardlyseeandfeelmebecauseIamsothin" case
if you like TOTAL protection i recommend TWO cases TUDIA OMNIX and POETIC. i have the TO and my experience to it is that the covers of the audio and charger ports are not good if you use them for a prolong period of time they dont go back easily i mean there is a small part of the cover that tends to stay open.
FOR POETIC, i saw reviews both Oneplus.net and amazon they say that it is much better than TO it is much thin than the TO and the ports are much better.
Another great feature about the Diztronic is the way it covers the side buttons and gives them a more sturdy feel. I got another case previously and it had cut out for the buttons, but it was a pain trying to press them as the OnePlus One's side buttons are so small.

If anyone is looking to get rid of their OEM orange and yellow cases, I would be willing to buy. Message me if anything.

Good dual layer/slim case?

This cheapo dual layer case has done well for me, but I'm not a fan of how thick the case is, considering how slim so of the protective cases are today. What's a good case that's slim, but also has the dual layer thing going on?

This thread is a good read:

I still am a Spigen fan. I really appreciate what the dual-layered cases try and do, but the Spigen really surprises with its protection and thinness.

I really like this case & I don't think it has added that much bulk to the phone.
It does provide good grip & protection.
I dropped my phone when on the treadmill & it landed on the belt & shot off the treadmill flew about 5 feet & hit a wall and no damage to phone. Whew!! that was a close one.
I have dropped it screen side down numerous times with no screen damage.
Yes it has good grip, but my hands do not, so I drop my phone a lot.
Anyways here's the link to the case I use.
If you get it with the screen protectors those are pretty good at staying clean.

I hate bulky cases. I found this slim case that has protected mine from some nasty concrete and tile drops.
search amazon for this "Moto G5 Plus Case, J&D [Drop Protection] [Slim Cushion] [Lightweight Bumper] Shock Resistant Protective TPU Slim Case for Motorola Moto G5 Plus (5.2") - [NOT Compatible with Moto G5 5.0"] "
I just purchased a case from armor-x. If you do a search for armor-x and moto g5 plus it should pop up. They have a really neat mount system that is built right into their case (on the back). It does not seem to add noticeable bulk to the phone.
