Software install failed - Honor 8 Pro Questions & Answers

My phone says I have a new update which is the 742MB B140 update that has been out for a while now. But I can't install it for some reason. I tried flashing the three zip files via TWRP and then I tried it with the stock recovery extracted from the UPDATE.APP from the B140 firmware update. Everytime it fails and says "Failed to check update files". In TWRP it gives different reasons depending on the zip I flash first. Is this because I unlocked my bootloader? I am new to Huawei or Honor and things are a bit more complicated with this one than I'm used to.

If you want B130 I think it's better to contact honor, they may give you a direct link to it (just mention you want FULL-OTA)

Yes better to contact them , they wont give you link but they will ask your imei and they push your update.

MediaPad M2 Installed wrong UPDATE.zip

Hello together,
i got a MediaPad M2 801-W. It was running on Android 5.1.1.
So i just downloaded the 6.0 image for it. BUT i downloaded the M2-802Lxxx Version....
I dident know there are differne version of the Tablet....
The Updater just finished fine and the Tablet just started just normal BUT it is now random crashing and restarting the Os.
So i tried to install the correct version back but now the Updater in the os has no Local seetting to select the update.zip.
In Recovery the Updater works but dosent update the correct version.
It is verifying the update and than says "Software install failed".
Is there an other way to update the correct update to the tablet?
Sorry about my bad english....
Best Regards isi

Flash this in stock recovery through dload method:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5I_q70mNuR4N3JLTnNDYzBEYTg/view?usp=sharing
Then you need the stock 801W rom, extract the update.app and flash it through dload. Then it should work and flash back to stock.
Thank you but your file has only 21kb is this right?
When i put the file in the dload directorie and boot with power + vol up + down the installer is verifying something installs it to 36% and aborts again. =(

Okey for those who did the same **** like me:
First download http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=74723&version=273368&siteCode=tw
Than downgrade to this version.
Now you can update to the corect 801-w Android 6.0 version.
Me too install wrong update I have MediaPad M2 801-L, But i downloaded 6.0 the M2-801Wxxx version and got a MediaPad M2 801-W after install update.zip. Updater in the os has no Local setting to select the update.zip. I try downgrade to 5.1.1 M2-801Wxxx version by three buttons, flash stock recovery. But on choose language button "next" not working. Continue try install different stock flash...
Sorry about my bad english....
Just what I needed.
You literally saved my tablet. I had the exact issues (stupidly installed the 801L Marshmallow update on my 801W, which resulted in the non stop rebooting every 5 minutes). Nothing was working and no other roms were being accepted until I came across your post. I made this account just to thank you! The tablet was brand new and was lying boxed and unused for 3 years, so thought I'd use it
Just in the unlikely event anybody else faces this problem, just wanna add one clarification to Isipisi281's original post; to get the first step interim update to happen, make sure you unzip the update file first, then find the update.app file and paste that and it's accompanying folder into the dload folder in your directory, or else the update will fail. The rest is clockwork.
And PS, the M2 runs amazingly after the marshmallow update. Noticeably smoother, snappier and even more frugal with added android features. Highly recommended.
Thanks again!

Yeah, welcome to Huawei world. They don't make it easy to go back to stock on the older devices.

i mentioned earlier where u can get the full firmware, it is a 3.1 GB file, and here are the methods i have tried
sdcard dload force flash
extracting the images and flash them individually using adb, for that u can use huawei update extractor, and for going into fastboot mod, plug in your phone and press power+volume down, tell me if u had any luck booting up

Hey, I just received the Oreo update for moto g5 (xt1677) in India . I like to extract that update from my moto g5 so I can post it on XDA . If anyone let me know how to extract the update, I can put update.

Only if you are rooted & it's in the cache partition
Obviously if you are rooted you won't be able to install the ota
Plus we already have the firmware posted - the ota is pointless as it requires people to be on certain firmware to be able to flash it in recovery
Best to stick to just flashing the entire firmware via fastboot or just wait until an ota is available on your device

I don't rooted the device and this is for version
93.14 which has not been posted on XDA and it is the full version which I have received. So I like to know where the ota zip file is located so I can capture it and let other user also use it . I have downloaded the ota update and it ready to install so I like to know how can I extract it.

Unless you used a packet sniffer type app which will tell you the address of the download as you are downloading it you can't
The ota is saved in the cache folder which requires root to be able to access
Would this be useful?

Seems we can capture the link and download the ota directly. Not sure if this works for all phones.

Ota update opp28-85-13-2

Please someone help me
I'm looking for the official OPP28-85-13-2 OTA, I need the zip to update to that version officially
I'm looking for it because it solves the low sound problems and the October security patch:crying:
Sorry that I answer so late, when I was searching for ways to update to Oreo I found this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/cedric-ota-archive-t3795275
It's a collection of ota files, it also describes the order how to flash them.
The otas and the list for that are here
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1BkpfHvgQ477NViLYvzgv88Fgq3SSt5Py?usp=sharing
Edit: I'm currently on OPP28.85-16 but I don't know if you will find the otas for this, but I flashed firmware directly, guess when you don't want to reinstall your phone this is not an option?

Why should that? When you flash stock oreo firmware and it comes an update you can just install it like a normal ota in settings

I do not know what it means, I think it has to do with the companies that distribute the firmware in the different update channels or region
