I'm on the latest stable and then tried the latest beta build to no avail. I'm on Android 8.0 beta on a Nexus 6p. Every time I add a direct dial or direct message widget nova crashes. No amount of reinstalling reseting or clearing of cache seems to fix the issue. I reached out to support but haven't heard back. Anyone else ever an into this an have/know a workaround?
Not helpful, but I'm having the same problem... both with Action Launcher and Google Now launcher. Also cleared cache etc..... I noticed a problem when the original widget called the wrong contact.... I then deleted the widget with the intention of re-adding, but now can't.
I can only think it's connected to Google Assistant which I've just just enabled.... I can't find the way at the moment to remove it unfortunately!

OK, so I've removed myself from the Google app beta programme, which seems to have reverted back to Google Now from google assistant, but the contact widget is still crashing the launcher and not adding... hmmmmm...

Now tried a third party contact widget app that does work.... Not ideal, but a workaround at least

Well not exactly all... you cant disable all. Its just common sense. Leave the system apps like phone, contacts, clock etc.... I disabled almost all 3rd part apps just left the ones that I want it to start such as beats audio, lux light etc...
Is it possible to completely replace stock sms app with another app like gosms or handcent ? so the stock sms app will be deleted witought causing problems.
You can remove it but I'm not sure if the app itself is required to actually send/receive messages. Why do you need it gone so bad anyway?
Because my philosophy is "one app for every function" I hate having two apps for the same function.

Well if you really want to, you can use Titanium Backup to "Freeze" the app. It will remove it from your launcher and everything just as if it were uninstalled. You can un-freeze it if it breaks something. If you want to take more drastic measures, you can use root uninstaller. But if this breaks your SMS functions, you need to know how to get it back.

app interaction with the system is all about Intent, the ability to broadcast to Android "hello, I'm an app with SMS capabilities, and I can do the same tasks that stock SMS app do"
Like you can remove stock launcher from a rom zip as long as you put in another launcher's apk.

If you have a custom launcher you could always hide it and stop the push notifications.

Hi there, I'm running paranoid android and just installed go locker. It works fine, all exept a notification that won't go away. It says: tap to launch&configure, and can't be swiped away. Clicking it opens up go locker, but the notification stays.
I already went to settings on my phone, and unticked the box to show messages, but thats not it.
Does anyone recognise this problem?

Settings> applications> golocker> un check notifications. I cleared cache and data before I noticed this and it cleared it. So I hope this makes it permanent.
Just upgraded my galaxy S4 via the AT&T over the air update from 4.2 to 4.3 and now I have the same issue. Clicking "turn off notifications" under the Android settings - applications - go locker didn't resolve the problem. Thoughts?
I've been having this problem as well from GO Locker and the Side Dock from GO Launcher.
I've done the above fix and it's worked, but I haven't restarted it yet to see if it stays.

Ok I restarted and the GO Locker & Side Dock ones have gone, but the GO Launcher EX one has comeback asking me to turn "System Persistent" off.
It goes after I click on it, etc bit always returns after a restart.

Are there "safe" values to put in the build.prop to fool an app to think my phone is a tablet?
I need the phone to appear as a tablet for several apps.
One of the apps has a maximum of 1600 kbps for streaming, however it only does this on a tablet.
Streaming is limited to 1200 kbps on the phone.
Device details are attached.

If youre rooted, try xposed framework using " app settings " module. Allow root and enable module, reboot device.
Open app settings and look for those specific apps. Turn on those apps and set its screen (dp) to 1000x1600.
Thats tablet mode i believe.

And build.prop does not have a per app dpi setup for apps to be forced tablet mode.
Go to
LCD density in your build.prop and change 320 to 160-180 and your phone and all of its apps will believe it is a tablet.

Enable magnification gestures before you reboot our you may not be able to read some or all font.
Every time I change the tab from portrait to landscape (and vice versa) I get this little pop up message. Anyone have any idea why it's showing up? I have the sprint version if that makes s difference.

I can't believe they did not make an app update to resolve this. Someone at Samsung sales must be looking for another job. Or his dad owns the company

Typically one can try goto settings> apps> all apps tab> scroll to and tap watchon app> within app info tap clear cache then clear data button.

It works, just uninstalled WATCH ON App. Bye bye error, which was annoying as @#&%! I thought my tablet was messed up! Not. Just that WATCH ON App. Great help from original poster. Now if I could only get my typing errors accurately auto corrected SAMSUNG.
Those of you that are uninstalling the WatchOn app, how are you doing that? I have an AT&T (T707A) and I don't ever get the option to uninstall it. I can disable it, but it comes back after a while. I've even reset the tablet a couple of times hoping that would trigger the uninstall prompt, but nada.
I have the same issue. But I'm not with AT&T. I purchased mine at office depot. Talked with samsung several times. They didn't even know how to fix it. I can't delete it. If I disable it, it just enables back. What can be done to fix this. I have the tab s.....

That worked for a day or so...but the server error came back. Sigh
