HDR+ ported - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey just want to share this here
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/
I think this is awesome, bad sadly it wont work on my le pro 3, i guess it also needs some google camera libraries or framework stuff, i dont know im not really a developer. But if someone with knowledge could take a look that would be awesome. I had nexus 6p before pro 3, and i can assure you, hdr+ makes ridiculous difference.

It needs Android 7.0 minimum.
Won't work on stock, but seems to work on Nougat custom ROMs.

Has anyone gotten this to work on LEX727 with custom rom? I have LineageOS 14.1. It complained that i have a builtin app by the same name and refused to install.

Well. Uninstall the camera app with the same name, or delete it thru twrp recovery . Before, make a backup of the app. Then install the new app. Done!

Working on Omnirom. No workaround needed.

Works fine on LOS 14.1. Had no problem installing with the same name built in camera app present.

Works on AICP though haven't tested it extensively.

How are pictures captured by HDR+ in comparison with stock camera app?

I was looking for this. Thanks. Now if they would add 60fos video

120fps slow-mo is working.

Video recording for more than 10 seconds is crashing for me on Omni with black screen kernel.

No problems with video for me, i have some that are 6 mins long. Paranoid android.

Works perfect with Resurrection remix

On my aicp rom the video start ok but no save file in memory.

Camera has been honestly one of the weak points of this phone... This app makes all the difference. It went from poor-mediocre to iphone-fabulous.

XDA link only has one copy of the port while there are many other variants that are being updated.
Refer to my thread below for other versions.

Although many camera share same sensors, image quality can be drastically different due to each company's processing know-how. Most of Chinese phones are known to have terrible camera for this reason.
Google is on opposite end of spectrum and their HDR+ does wonders especially in low-light or well lit situation. It overcomes not only processing but also sensor limitation by combining multiple shots in most efficient way. You get superior color rendition, low noise, high DR and more detail. There are many other HDR solutions but none like Google's. Though Google made its camera app public, HDR+ functionality was disabled for phones other than Nexus and Pixel series until this port.
Now, we not only got the working version of the port, the developer is aggressively fine tuning it further and further. There are dozens of copies already and once we find the one that works best for LP1, it will be a night and day difference.

I'm not sure a simple camera app can do that. Usually they change root libraries and that stuff

The lineageOS default camera or all other cameras running under lineageOS are garbage compared to stock miui camera. Sure, you get 60 fps, but as a package the photography experience is subpar. The superior panorama stitching in stock miui is gone and you get pathetic stitching unusable in many cases, the autofocus is slower, especially in video, auto HDR is poorly implemented, you don't get a good combination of an auto and fully manual camera with fully working video in one app... In short, you gain a little and lose too much imo.

Modified media profiles are needed for every non-Snapdragon camera apps. Snapdragon Camera and the default LOS camera take advantage of detecting the camera video modes automatically.

I guessed that miui camera is better. I hope now the kernel is out they can improve lineage camera
So you mean the only way for getting 60 fps is switching to lineage ?

But AFAIK snap camara doesnt work in miui roms right? I read it just FC
So then the choice is between Lineage with 60 fps feature vs miui rom with much better overall camera
Btw do you think LineageOs camera will improve now the kernel is released ?

Google Camera HDR+ BSG Ports

What is it?
Simply put, it makes your pictures better, much better. While there are many other camera apps, none are like Google Camera with HDR+. It not only improves dynamic range but noise and color rendition.
For more information, check out below XDA articles.
Google Camera with HDR+ Ported to Snapdragon 820/821 and 835 Devices
Google Camera HDR+ Port Updated with RAW Support, HDR Customization, and Major Bug Fixes
Where can I get it?
Please note that we get updates frequently and there are also modified version of BSG's ports.
For BSG's ports, @Kisakuku thankfully has been updating new versions on this thread with recommended settings.
For modified versions as well as BSG's ports, you may check @S4turno's own website here

You might as well check out OP5 and OP3 thread as those are more active. You will notice their ongoing discussion is about touch focus not working. Lucky, we do not have such problems on LP1.

GCam_4.4.012.156195200-41155109_7.0H_CameraAPI2_Min_v2.2.apk
Has been running on my phone for the last 7 days, no issues whatsoever. Video/and slow-mo working. On other versions videos werent saving to the device.
With this camera 4pda.ru user B-S-G did a monstrous adaptation job!
For LOS 14.1 from Team Superluminal I use this version:
GCam_4.4.012.156195200_MI5S_MIUI_Android_7.0_PIXEL_II_XL_v.1.1
Never seen such beautiful and defined photos/videos on the Lex 720! Everything works! It's a pity that there is no manual mode, but to be an automatic camera does a really good job! Cheers!
I test miui version, pixel version, ecc ecc but video and slow motion, after start and stop record, no save file.
I use aicp last version with 3.3 kernel black screen

Try the one I mentioned.
I tried all the versions that have been posted. it seems strange that I have this problem. perhaps it is the version of the Roma. photos are perfect and are saved without problem. but the video, once stopped, it seems that saves, but then on the gallery there is nothing. soon will be released a new version of the AICP see if I have this problem.
I have x727 on newest omni weekly:
Mod_GCam_4.4.012_MI5S_7.0H_Cam2API_Final_1.0.apk
works for everything, slow mo, lens blur
Note that different copies are expected to show different image quality, not just whether it works or not. The best way to test it is taking a shot of high DR scene and see noise level differences.
I see B-G-R is still working on fine tuning noise/detail performance. Too bad I cannot download directly from the site as it gives 404 error somehow. I can only hope @snowwolf725 to keep uploading it on AFH until the end.
In all, it is a game changer. The worst thing about LP1 and majority of Chinese phones are their low IQ. Google Camera HDR+ can fix that.
Do any of these have the snapdragon optimizations? I noticed that the paranoid release has the camera with snapdragon optimizations and taking photos is instantaneous.
For the lastest AICP, tried few included that you mentioned, but Slow Motion makes app crappy. What should I do?
I ran a simple test on 5 random different versions. Image quality differences were minimal to the point it may not be easily distinguishable on a phone screen but visible on 32inch 4k monitor.
Noticed differences were...
a. saturation - some were neutral while others were strong.
b. noise - some had stronger noise reduction applied which resulted in blotchy gradation with less detail.
I think there should be DR difference but my test setting was not suitable for that.

4PDA gives you 404 most likely because you are not registered at their forum board. Once you register, you can download directly without any problems.
I change rom from aicp to omni and the camera work good. Now video and slow motion save on sdcard.

This is big improvement over previous ones. In settings, you can config camera - N6P, N6, N5X, PixelXL, NexusExp2016, NexusExp2017, ExpPixelXL. Also an option to save DNG files when taking HDR+ images, video stabilization, and many others. But there is a catch: it crashes once you go into the setting. I guess updated versions will hopefully fix this issue.
EDIT: It does not crash once you go into config camera setting and choose a phone model.

I was using nexus 6p but realized auto flash doesn't work on that profile. It didn't work on pixel XL profile either. I'm using nexus 6 profile now and everything seems to work.
Of note I'm using

Edit. Just updated to 3.0.3 (all in one) and it works on nexus 6p profile with auto flash working and burst mode working as well.

If you are rooted you have to add below line in build.prop -
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
after that reboot. you will have working gcam with HDR+. although the slomo option won't work. and you will have EIS too in gcam.

If you cant find the difference by looking at the samples posted, then you dont need HDR+.
But the fact is the difference is night and day!
Google is primarily known for software, which is what HDR+ is all about.. It uses the camera h/w, takes many pics when you click the shutter button, each in different contrast, and applies some kick-ass machine learning algorithms on every pixel of each groups of pics it took, fuses all of them, to get awsome looking pics.. Thats all it does, and thats all that no other stock camera app does from any other manufacturer. Thats why it beats even iphone.
So basically, google does more through software , what all others achieve through multiple h/w.. Reason why pixel 2 still has single Camera.

Yes, when I open the app and moving the camera around, it gets stuck and then continues to work after couple of seconds. No issues with Arnova mods.
I'm also unrooted by the way.
Only scrubber and cstark's dedicated gcam version don't produce screen flickering when tap-focusing in video recording. I don't know if I missed something or it's really that way for other mods.

Hi all. I just ordered this device and am happy see there is potential for almost fully working gcam mod. Would you recommend doing the API enable temp root process and then loading the different versions to see what's best. Seems scrubber mod good one to try first of all. How good is the EIS once enabled. Does it break the stock camera app? Thanks

No, sadly... My advice is to use Gcam only for photos and MIUI camera for videos/slowmo/time lapse at least for now.
Great post! Would you say the Urnyx GCam (or this version of yours) is superior to the xtrme version? Have tried both but can't come to a definitive conclusion, really.

Would also like to know this as I'm using xtrem's version.
Just curious, how you guys mod these gcam apks. Is knowledge in coding necessary?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only 6.2 Gcam with all 4 cameras (3+1 front) working well with Mi 9T is the one in OP.

You're correct, this is the only 6.2 GCam working on the Mi 9T. But xtrme's version, although it's based on GCam 6.1, works great too with all 4 cameras. I don't know much about photography so I can't really tell which one is better overall.
Can you reduce NR for main camera as well? Night shots with HDR+ are good, but lack detail. A little grain won't hurt the image IMO.
Grainy noise is better than colour noise

Try changing library in advanced settings. Fit v2 seems to be optimized for Mi 9 that has a very similar main sensor.

It should crash only if wide or Tele camera are active.
Do you know if there is a version with working video/settings and auxiliary cameras support?
I suspect that video profiles for aux cameras are missing/hidden, at least in Global ROM.

Good evening everyone.
I have just joined the forum having just purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9T phone (That's still awaiting delivery)
Anyways, I am just wondering if this google camera mod can be loaded straight onto the phone or does the phone need 'jailbreaking' in some way?
Thanks in advance.

Just install the apk and enjoy.
The download links are dead? It just says that the file might no longer exist, in both links
