1) Put the zip file in your SD Card
2) Reboot in Recovery Mode (use Twrp or Philz Recovery)
3) Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache and format /System (If running Philz Recovery use the "Clean before install a new rom" option)
4) Install the ROM
5) Reboot.
Note: First boot may take a while, that's normal. Once it booted setup your device and reboot again to ensure the full performance of the rom.

AOD is missing in this firmware. Sorry for bad english.

AOD does not work because it is a J5 port, they do not have AOD

This is official J5 rom, with no mods, thats why AOD is missing.

successfully booted of from 8.1, and looks pretty smooth, no cam issues, no wifi issues, no slider issues, substratum works nicely along it, magisk works fine, what can i say it's near perfect

It's perfect rom except for that I can't use Google camera may be in next update
Update Nikita gcam works fine so I can say the rom is perfect now no problems I really enjoy it

This rom is absolutely incredible ! I love it but there are too many reboots on gingko ! It's not stable at all ! Please do something about it !

Awesome rom, had been used for two days.
Build: descendant-X-OFFICIAL-ginkgo-20200806.zip
My device is Redmi Note 8T EEA
Cons:
1. No inbuild camera. However, any gcam should work, I use TrGcam 7.1, any essential function works.
2. Recordie app causes device crashed and restart. I will give the dmesg if it just occurred to me. All permission has been given.
3. Very minimum customization, almost none. I can't even swap button position.
4. NFC doesn't work properly. The switch is there, it can read NFC cards, but can't receive or send files.
5. While phonegraph is open source, it has locked functionalities as in app purchase.
6. Some fonts are quite tiny compare to normal, like quick tiles titles' font, fortunately I like to hide qs titles.
7. For those looking for call recording, no it isn't there.
Now the goods:
1. Guardia is really, really nice addition to the rom, salute to that.
2. Battery life is awesome. I'm just a casual daily user with occasional photo taker, going around with gps, ordering taxi, foods with gps, little internet browsing, no games at all. Battery stands 1 day with those all high activities. Deep sleep works.
3. All major function works. GPS is quickly locked with all GLONASS, Baidou, etc. Camera works with gcam. Fingerprint works. Wifi, Bluetooth, hotspot, works so far. Phone call doesn't have any problems. Can't tell about volte. FM radio works, infra red works.
4. It has UI that quite distinguish from other aosp. Like the quick tiles, sound level adjuster, the notification, all is good looking, I'm very pleased with it.
What I would like to see for the next build:
1. Recordie is either fixed, to be replaced with something else that work, or gone.
2. Same applies to phonegraph. I'd rather install my own music player.
3. Please start adding some customization.
Overall, it's a very good rom, I'm looking forward for the next build.

the rom is working fine but the front camera is not working ,not even black image..just crashes camera app also no face unlock on the settings.
i had other Android custom rom (android 12) before and the camera was working .
(also on recovery TWRP i can't flash any rom only some its give me error code 9 if i remember correct)
how do i solve this issue ? Anybody has the same issue ? do i need to flash any vendor partition ? or a specific official update before installing this ROM ?i am confused with poco m3. and it's not my first rooted device .Any help would be great .thanks

Hey I wanted to thank you for the great effort you guys put into this rom here are some bugs that I encountered during 2 months of usage on this rom Poco M3 and Redmi 7)
(Clean install - Orange fox recovery- rom version v5.2 on Poco m3. V5.1 on redmi 7)
1- can't receive/send data (any thing) via Bluetooth
2- USB tethering won't share internet (wifi/cellular data) connection on pc
3-voice recorder won't record even with all allowed permissions
4-while recording video screen will lock up and therefore video recording would stop
5-there is no Pocket mode
6- instability on google voice call (some times can't hang up, some times app crash)
*7-this is more of a personal preference but I rather use this rom with out root permissions (feels safe that way) I was using crdroid and all banking apps worked perfectly fine without using magisk hide and shamiko addon but in this rom that you provided I must use mentioned service and app to be able to use banking apps ...
8-double tap wake /lock just doesn't feel "sensitive" enough I have to tap much harder in order to use above features
9- I believe this phone (Poco m3) is capable to be charged with 18w charger but it only charges up to 11w ... I wonder if that is a bug or something ...
10-Shutter click sound is so intense that I'm scared to use it like it is shutting so hard that I can hear it shooting photos never encountered this on Stock rom ...
11- video shooting makes device hotter than when using stock rom.
