[Q] My PC doesn't detect my arc s

Hi, I just bought this phone, yesterday I connected to my PC for the first time, and my pc detected it, but now my PC can't detect it.
Any idea? thanks
in which mode you trying to connect?
I don't know, i just connect the USB lol.
It's solved!
The first thing I noticed is that my other computer detect the mobile always without the software "PC Companion".
I downloaded PC Companion and I installed it in to the PC were the mobile can't be detected, then I turned off the mobile and connected it to the pc, after it I turned it on and I selected an option in the mobile to connect automatically, then the PC detected it and it's working really good.

SGSIII USB/odin connection issues/solution

I've searched google/xda and no one seems to address this very clearly.
I was having problems connecting my SGSIII via USB to my computer(s). Yes, I was using the cable that came with the phone. When trying to simply transfer files via USB (MTP or PTP) windows would not recognize the phone and a message saying "usb device has malfunctioned" popped up from the notification area of the taskbar. I had all of the drivers installed. I tried connecting the phone to my laptop (thinkpad) and desktop (homebuilt) computers, which were both win7 64bit. I tried every single USB port of each computer. Sometimes the device would show up in my computer, but I couldn't access any of the files. I was able to get odin to recognize my phone, however, and (foolishly) tried to flash a rom to my phone. Odin would fail every time at a different point in the process. I was stuck with a phone that would not bootup.
Then, I tried a computer (old dell, win XP) at work. I tried to flash the rom with Odin again. On the third attempt it worked! (after changing to a back (instead of the front) USB port) It was a big relief that I didn't brick my phone. Also, with this computer I could connect to my phone via MTP or PTP. I thought, therefore, that the problem was win7. So, I went back, installed win XP on my computer at home. This computer would still not play nice with the phone. (USB device malfunctioned error appeared again.) So, if you're having problems try a different computer. I had to try 3 before I found one that worked.
TL;DR: Try a different computer and different USB ports on that computer before you give up on connecting your phone to a computer via USB.
Finally, I NEVER had these problems with my HTC Hero, or HTC Evo. The phone would connect to ANY computer or ANY USB port. This was true for transferring files and for ADB also. With my S3 I'm transferring files by removing the SD card and connecting that to my computer. Kind of a pain in the ass. Thanks samsung.

PC not detecting my phone

i have a windows 8 and my PC cannot detect my phone at all. when i connect my usb cable to my PC it charges it but nothing else. ive tried both the htc and samsung usb cable. the phone detects fine on my older PC. i'm not really sure on what im supposed to do now.
Try installing the Windows 7 drivers from here http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
I know you‘re on Windows 8 but I think the drivers should work fine

Cannot connect to pc with windows 8.1

Hey guys i recently got a new pc with windows 8.1 and it doesnt recognize my gnex. whenever i connect it (i tried various combinations of mtp,ptp and usb debugging on and off) it says usb device has malfunctioned. same thing happens in bootloader mode. if i go to device manager i cannot see it under either portable devices or adb interface (the option is not present) i just see a yellow exclamation mark under "usb controllers> unknown usb device(port reset failed)". I have also tried all usb ports both usb 2.0 and 3.0.
anyone have the same problem? the phone works perfectly with the same cable in my other laptop with win7
I solved the issue. It seems that my USB cable was the problem. I changed it and it installed fine. I didn't think of it at first as the same cable works perfectly fine with win 7.

I always have the problem that I can connect to my phone, but sometimes when I try to open a folder, it keeps loading and won't open the folder. Don't think that's an USB problem too, but I'll try...

[GUIDE] [Solution] How To Get Windows 8.1 To Recognise USB Mass Storage

How To Get Windows 8.1 To Recognise USB Mass Storage On Your Phone
I have had the problem for ages that when I connected my Samsung Galaxy GT-S5360 into my Windows 8.1 PC nothing happened - Windows 8.1 simply refused to recognise the device - not even anything in device manager - nothing - nada
However it would recognise the phone if I set the phone to download mode - but I want to use my phone as mass storage
Well after months of trying I finally found a really stupid solution
Solution
Install the usb drivers for your phone as normal
connect the phone to pc via usb cable (nothing happens other then a few beeps as normal)
now plug in any usb dongle that you have already installed on your pc - like a usb wireless mouse dongle
suddenly windows detects the phone and you can now set your phone to mass storage from the phone status bar
Every time you want to connect your phone in mass storage just plug it in then plug in the other usb dongle after
My Device never getting error like that on my Windows 8.1 Laptop

it maybe the brand of laptop too and the chipset of the laptop - there have been lots of problems with usb devices with windows 8.1 and inbuilt bluetooth too although manufacturers quickly released new bluetooth drivers as the windows 8 ones didnt work in windows 8.1
so this is just for those who have problems with their particular laptop
Similar Issue with Samsung Galaxy S
I had a similar problem when I needed to copy some files onto a Galaxy S. In the past, I had to ensure that USB Debugging was off, connect the USB cable and then select Mass Storage on the smartphone. Win 8.1 Explorer did not see the device although it showed up as SAMSUNG_Android in Eject Media and Device Manager had the phone listed under Universal Serial Device. I was able to access the phone on one laptop by selecting Samsung Kies as the connection method (showed up in Explorer under the device type rather than a drive letter) but this did not work on another laptop.
The steps described in "How to connect Android devices to PC with USB Mass Storage Mode" on device-recovery.com worked for me on both Win 8.1 laptops: enable USB Debugging, connect the phone, pull down the status bar, tap on the USB Connected entry and then Mass Storage.

What you said will not work for this phone because when you plug it into a windows 8.1 laptop the option to select connect to mass storage in status bar is not there - It just shows the phone as charging
The only way iv found on a windows 8.1 laptop with this issue (note it depends on your hardware to weather you have this problem) is to plug the phone into the laptop then plug any other dongle in - the option to then connect to mass storage suddenly appears in the status bar and you can connect as normal
