help with LG G5 and mirrorlink, wont allow button savior. - Connected Car

I'm wondering if there is a way of getting full access to my mobile apps via mirrorlink on my new car. it has Fulllink which includes Apple carplay, mirrorlink, and android auto.
ive seen it done on some Samsung Galaxies using LG's mirrorlink app of all things. but that seems to work because of the incompatibly dumping the phone backto the launcher.

Button saviour doesn't work
Tried button saviour trick but it won't let me go into LG drive mirror link with it running.

the head unit is essentially the same as in VW's.

Anyone?

this is what happens when I try and use the Samsung way to get 1:1 mirroring.
SEAT Toledo 2017 TSI 1.0 MY2018
this is what happens if i have simple controls or button savior installed:

this is what happens if i unistall the tools:

how can i fix this? or is it because the software has been updated to block 1:1?

[Q] Car dock not starting application

Hey all,
I'm using the iBolt car dock with my S3. I've updated to 4.3 and my S3 would still launched Car Home Ultra until about a week ago. The only correlation I can make is I was playing with the Day Dream feature and since then it wouldn't launch CHU. I tried clearing the default setting on CHU to get the launch application choice again, but it didn't work. I can tell that it is recognizing the dock as I get the sound and the home screen rotates to landscape. I've read that 4.2 remove the home button link to CHU but I didn't think that would change the ability to launch CHU. I've tried using the custom APK to change the home button function but it still goes back to the home screen and not CHU.
Is there anything that someone can think of to try? I have rooted my phone and have access to Root Explorer and SQLite editor, so I can do some troubleshooting if I know where to look.
TIA!
-Shawn
Well, I spent yesterday and last night rebuilding from a factory reset and no difference. Is this even an option anymore for an application to launch when a dock is connected? If someone can tell me that, it would be most helpful.
It's just odd that it worked after the update to 4.3 and then it stopped.

Hi Shawn, I am with iBOLT. Also try to download the new DockMode Control app we just made available on Google Play, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iboltdockmode.carhome&hl=en It simply starts the "DockMode" app like Dock'n Drive, Ulysse Speedometer or the CHU app. If it does not work with our cable, it will work with an NFC tag. Let me know how this works out...

This is fantastic! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much!
Now if you could go and tap Braden and let him know the cable he send me didn't fix the cellular data noise issue, I'd be even more happy.

Ok google not working.. Please help

Hi Everyone. I hope you could help me with my situation.
I had the watch about a month now. It was working nicely till a couple of days ago, the ok google stopped working.
When I tap the screen twice, there is a red G speak now. I cant tap on that icon. When replying a sms, the watch doesn't go into the voice recognising mode. I also tried sync with another phone.
I tried resetting to factory default. Reinstalling android wear and moto connect. Still doesn't work. I even tried the settings in Google settings, re recognising the ok google..
Running out of options.. Please help
When the red G Speak now appears do the following:
Speak.
This is the new design since Wear 2.0 Update
I spoke ...
but nothing happens...

Strange, could your microphone have something in the little hole?
i doubt that something is stuck in the little hole at the 9 o'clock position.
cos if i tap on Speak Now - it should have some bars which emulates a sound equaliser... but in my case, there isnt.
So i suspect is a setting. ... sigh..~ btw i am using Samsung Note 4
Ok, excuse me for my upper post.
But without the further infos you have now given, i could not resist to write this.
Test the microphone with an other app.
SleepAsAndroid, LED Music Controller or any soundrecorder which uses the moto360 microphone.
Have you rooted your Samsung and are you restricting apps with xprivacy or a similar program?
If the sound test fails I think your microphone is broken...
Try this. My problem was that "OK Google" only working from Voice Settings Screen using Moto 360 with my Samsung Galaxy S4 running Lollipop. I could not get the "OK Google" feature to work anywhere EXCEPT when I had the SETTINGS/MY DEVICE/LANGUAGE AND INPUT/GOOGLE VOICE TYPING screen open on my phone. Turns out that you have to have the GOOGLE NOW LAUNCHER as the home screen software. It will not work with the TOUCHWIZ HOME as the home screen software. To change this, go to SETTINGS/MORE/DEFAULT APPLICATIONS/HOME and select GOOGLE NOW LAUNCHER.
Static sound coming out
I am having the same issue. Also I am using a custom rom for note 4. I have tried the solution above and it doesnt work. I installed the "wear audio recorder" app and I only hear static sound... Is there an app or something to see if the communication between components working?

Music.apk app opening always at startup

Hello
when my head unit starts, it always opening Music app that I really don't like...
how can I prevent it from running? there no option to disable the app (via settings), the device is not rooted so I cannot uninstall it or freeze it...
please advise (info on my head unit is attached)
thanks
Also interested to know how to do this. In my case the radio app starts automatically, which is pretty annoying because it starting on a frequency that we do not have broadcast on (87.5 Mhz). Which gives you a really noicy start on your drive...
Thanks
I've know it's possible only with root, but it seems there's no way to connect the kit for a laptop for rooting...
Can tools like OneClickRoot or similar work perhaps? Tried to contact seller of head unit, but do not quite understand the more technial aspect of android or programming of it.
Oneclickroot supposed to work, but nothing is happening when I plug the unit to my laptop... I've ordered a male-to-male usb cable to try maybe the rear usb ports will work... Waiting for eBay package...
You can root the 4.4 units by just using a specific password, check the Wiki.
Also you can disable apps in 4.4 without root (not all apps can be disabled tho).
The headunit will start playing whatever source it was last playing when it was turned off, so you can exit the radio app if you'd like, also it shouldn't start at 87.5 unless you left it on that freq, make sure the acc and constant power wires are correct and you aren't resetting the unit.
@jakejm79 mine is 4.1.1 not 4.4...
Hey,
I've finally managed to root the device!!
Instructions
* On the device, download `Root Master 2.1.1` on this URL: Root_Master_2-1-1.apk
* Make sure internet connection is active, `Root Master` downloads instructions depending on the device you have
* Open `Root Master`, refuse the update (last version of root master will not work)
* Click the big button where it is written “ROOT”
* Wait, it will ask you to install an app, install it (otherwise it will keep you asking that)
* Wait again, at the end a message popup, click the purple left button, it will reboot the device and install SuperUser (right button is for rating)
* Your device is Rooted !
Pretty easy !

So I did managed to freeze Music.apk using titanium backup.
now I'm searching for the best music player (any suggestions beside Poweramp?)
and also I need to find some player that can run automatically when unit is starting and resume from last playback...
and it seems the wheel control buttons are not working with any but the native music app (the one that I was freezing)
thanks

Re-purposing an N7 as a "smart display"

With the announcement of google assistant "smart displays" at CES I thought well I have my N7 that I find myself using less and less (reading ebooks, some content consumption and some social media) maybe I can use the nexus as a smart display?
Short of flashing a Android Things OS (which as far as I know isn't an option) how can I set it up to best suit my needs?
So wiped and flashed stock 6.0.1 haven't rooted shouldn't need to and going to try and install as little as possible as it's showing it's age perfwise.
I've enabled Google Assistant and granted it isn't using far field microphones it'll be next to my bed so I can't see it being a huge issue.
One of the annoyances is that assistant defaults to a portrait mode while I'd like it to remain in landscape any ideas?
I'll have it plugged to power in with either a lockscreen showing just the bare necessities or dimming the display to as low as possible. May want to keep it as an always on display what's the burn in situation on the screen?
Audio will either be a 3.5mm to an old speaker or default audio out to a chromecast audio.
Also looking for any nice widgets that could be useful for a smart display?
Or any other ideas or thoughts?
thx
Maybe instead of having it plugged in all the time, just use wireless charging. Yes, it is slower, but it would make it easy to grab from a night stand. I have thought the same thing as you when I heard about the "smart displays". I'm on Lineage OS 14 with Nova Launcher. It runs really well for being 5 years old.
I bought the official dock from Asus in Amazon (Warehouse return). I use Daydream as a screensaver. Only negative so far is that it responds in portrait mode when giving it voice commands. It picks up my voice better than I thought it would. I wish there was a way to have the assistant screen up all the time with a screensaver when idle. Maybe there is and I just don't know about it.
I'm setting-up HADashboard (a Dashboard interface for Home-Assisant) on a couple of Nexus 7 2013's through the house, with the wireless charging in the wall and a removable printed wall mount. I'm currently searching for the right apps / rom. I'm currently running stock with WallPanel running.

HADashboard seems interesting. Can you expand on your WallPanel solution ? Perhaps a screenshot ?
I've been trying a few things to use as an always on home screen. I settled on using Android Auto as a nice clean interface. The issue I have is that the tablet is either rebooting after a short while or the app is crashing and is leaving the tablet on the home screen. I'm still using the latest stock image build from Google. It seems to be doing the same thing with most apps that I've used as either a Daydream screensaver or an always on app. Not sure if this is because of marshmallow or just that the tablet can't handle keeping an app running all day.
Now that there are real devices available, has anyone looked if it is possible to port or or use old tablet as smart display device like Jbl Link View etc?
Interested in this. Is there a way to convert a Nexus 7 (2013) to a Google Home View?
Ditto to finding this. Has anyone been able to perform a system dump?

Question Issue with game controllers.

Hello, I have been having an issue with game controllers and my Fold 4. Phone is good in all regards except game controller connections. I have factory reset twice (with the most recent at the same time as UI 5.1 dropped). This whole time I assumed it was Bluetooth lag until I decided to try some testing just to realize it doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired directly into the phone. This issue happens most notably when I am pressing the facing buttons like Y, X, A, and B. I am not talking about mashing the buttons either just regular attack speed for a retro beat em up game. It leaves any game unplayable due to missed inputs. I tested this wired with 8Bitdo Pro 2 controller and a PS5 controller, they all act the same as the wireless Nacon MGX Pro.
Worst of all I just tested the Nacon MGX Pro wirelessly on an old Samsung Tablet S6 and it works just great. To think upgrading to this flagship phone when my last Note 21 ultra never had this problem.
I am attaching a video capture of the Nacon wirelessly connected and the Pro 2 Plugged in. I am pressing the buttons at the same tempo as the Right dpad button in the beginning.
Please I can use any help.
Hey !
I have the MGX Pro as well but don't have this issue.
I use it for xCloud mostly.
Update, I tried turning any and all accessibility options off and I noticed something interesting. An option called bounce keys was on, it's a delay from a second press of the same button. The phone just had a fresh factory wipe and this was enabled . Turned that off and other accessibility options and games where playable. I don't know if it was another option bug but I believe "bounce key" option was the culprit.
