Redmi 3s Prime - Debloat Script - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Themes, Apps, and Mods

-- The post is no longer supported
-- new and updated version on "MIUI9 - Removing Bloatware - 98 apps removed !!!"
This script is created for and tested on Redmi 3s Prime ( Global Stable/Beta Rom) but should be fine for Redmi 3s as well.
Use it at your own risk for other Xiaomi Devices.
Prerequisites & Warnings :
********************************************************************************
1. Should have MIUI9 or MIUI8 or MIUI7 rom on Redmi 3S.
2. Should have TWRP installed. (tested on latest 3.1.1 official TWRP)
3. Should have,
a. Nova launcher or any other custom launcher installed. ( System launcher removed in script )
b. Have any keyboard from play store installed and set. ( I use Google Keyboard. Stock keyboards are removed.)4. Create a backup of existing rom.
5. DO NOT FLASH before doing initial setup after clean flash of any new rom. Have atleast one clean reboot before using this.
Few apps which required for one time device setup are removed in this.
6. You CANNOT FACTORY RESET after this.
If you want to do factory reset -
a. Flash full-rom package ( which is named like "miui_HM3SGlobal_7.9.15_08a8541c78_6.0.zip" this) and then do factory reset.
b. Do initial setup again and reboot.
c. install a launcher and a keyboard. Set the keyboard.
d. flash debloater file ( in attachment) again.
********************************************************************************
Applications List :
********************************************************************************
The debloater removes maximum number of unnecessary apps.
The free rom at boot is around 2 GB, so you can guess most services are also removed.
The main apps which are removed on top of Bloatware,
1. Google Apps
a. Chrome
b. Drive
c. Duo
d. Gmail
e. Hangouts
f. Keyboard
g. Maps
h. Google Now
i. Text-to-speech
j. YouTube2. Xiaomi Apps,
a. File explorer
b. FM radio
c. In-built Email app
d. Mi Browser
e. Mi Calendar
f. Mi Cloud
g. Mi Compass
h. Mi Drop
j. Mi Launcher
k. Mi Music
l. Mi Notes
m. Mi Picks
n. Mi Play
o. Mi Scanner
p. Mi Screen Recorder
q. Mi Video Player
r. Mi Wallpaper
s. Weather
t. Mi Spam Call Filter - Never worked for me
u. Xiaomi Calculator
v. Xiaomi Music App
w. Clean master
********************************************************************************
How to Customize for your usage,
********************************************************************************
1. Unzip the attached ZIP file.
2. Locate updater-script file under ".\META-INF\com\google\android" directory.
3. Open with text editor.
4. Put "#" at the start of the app you want to keep.
e.g. You want the system launcher then edit line containing
"delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/MiuiHome");" and replace with
"# delete_recursive("/system/priv-app/MiuiHome");".
To make it easier, I have added comments to locate the apps easily. 5. Save your changes and zip the "META-INF" again.
********************************************************************************
How to use :
********************************************************************************
1. Boot into recovery
2. Backup current rom
3. Flash the attached Zip file.
4. Clean cache and dalvik cache.
********************************************************************************

You forgot to add that it is removing also GAPPS.

is it works on miui9

If Mi Cloud debloated (removed) from system, will it bypass locked Mi Cloud due to forgotten password?

I recommend a Nandroid Backup first , just in case you don't like it and please READ this entire post and ROMs Release Notes before flashing and download what apps you need to replace deleted ones !
You can use MIUI Backup app to backup your apps and settings and not doing the whole setup process again ! Titanium Backup restore instructions !
Instructions :
Clean install ( Wipe: System , Data , Dalvik Data , Cache ) - after you get ERROR 7 in TWRP just flash ROM without wiping again
For root flash Official SuperSU or Magisk ( if Magisk not asking for root permission try older version like 15.1/16/17.1 ) - don't let TWRP to flash SuperSU automatically or you'll get an bootloop
Skip the entire configuration screen ! ( Wifi connect , Google login ) - if you still get an error at Google Account / "Provision has stopped" -> enable Airplane Mode by holding Power button
*First Google login may take longer until Google Play Services build/download resources or trying to update , so be patient !
**To skip that download latest Google Play Store and Google Play Services for our device and update them manually from here

Things to do after flash ! Very important !
Using Root Explorer check in system/app/ and system/priv-app/ for empty folders ( some just with libs into ) and delete them ! Ex: jjhome , MiuiScanner , PicoTts... etc.
Use SD Maid to delete corpses (leftovers from apps) and then disable autostarts for the following apps : ( Help ! )
MIUI SDK (com.miui.core)
SIM Toolkit (com.android.stk)
Music (com.miui.player)
Google One Time Init (com.google.android.onetimeinitializer)
Download Manager (com.android.provider.downloads)
Contacts Storrage (com.android.provider.contacts)
Calendar storage (com.android.provider.calendar)
Calendar (com.android.calendar)
Backup (com.miui.backup) - and freeze it (unfreeze when you need it )
Xiaomi Service Framework (com.xiaomi.xmsf) - and freeze it
Xiaomi Sim Activate Service (com.xiaomi.simactivate.service) - and freeze it
Updater (com.android.updater)
Themes (com.android.thememanager)
Omacp (com.mediatek.omacp)
Notes (com.miui.notes)
OneTimeInitializer (com.android.onetimeinitializer)
PersonalAssistantPlugin (com.miui.home.launcher.assistant) - just freeze
MTK NLP Service (com.mediatek.nlpservice)
Google Partner Setup (com.google.android.partnersetup)
Google Contacts Sync (com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts) - if you don't use it !
Atci_service (com.mediatek.atci.service)
*Also disable autostarts for third party apps that you don't need to start at boot ( Ex: Facebook , Gmail , Youtube... etc. ). Don't forget to disable autostarts from MIUI Security app too
Tips and tricks : Basics
Use Greenify ! - highly recommended
Use Quickpic instead of MiuiGallery ( delete MiuiGallery and MiuiVideo ) ! - highly recommended
Delete PowerKeeper app if you dont need some notifications like Instagram etc. ( Messenger and Whatsapp works ! ) and to reduce wakelocks ! - highly recommended
Delete or freeze apps you don't use ! (Ex: AntiSpam , TouchAssistant etc. )
Disable autostarts for third party apps from SD Maid and MIUI Security app due to your preference
Use 2G network if you don't use/need mobile data (don't do it of your signal is affected ) !
Change animations to 0.5x from Developers Settings !
Check Force GPU rendering box from Developers Settings !
Don't set display Colors and contrast to auto !
Try to use low Brightness or even disable auto-brighness !
Remember to turn off Wifi , Mobile Data , Bluetooth , GPS when you don't use them !
Disable Syncing or try to reduce it !
Reduce apps notifications ! I have only Messenger and WhatsApp notifications enabled !
Don't use features like 'Lock device when in pocket' , etc. !
Don't unplug charger immediately after reaches 100% ! Always use original one !
Optional :
For even deeper optimization you can check Skinny Pro Custom Boot Images thread ! Be careful , not for noobs !
Note that some features like Themes , Xiaomi Account , Scanner , Compass , etc. are gone ! But you can re-install what you need and get some back READ EXTRA !
Extra :
Starting with MIUI 9 you'll find the Extra zips on AndroidFileHost into the same ROM folder !
If you want to connect with an MS EXCHANGE account or any other account that you can't find in Settings-Accounts or even Gmail app then you have to install Email
If you have trouble with Storrage management and can't acces your files using other apps ( Ex: Can't sync MEGA , can't import Themes ) then you have to install FileExplorer and DocumentsUI
If you wanna get the Themes or Xiaomi Account back install XiaomiAccount and FindDevice ( + RtMiCloudSDK into system/priv-app - MIUI 9.5 Stable 9.5.1.0/9.5.2.0 ). - !!! Put FindDevice into system/priv-app/ !!! To import themes install FileExplorer. Applying imported themes requires an designer authorized Xiaomi account ( How to bypass authorization - MIUI 8 )
If you want MiCloud back install CloudService , CloudSysbase and CloudBackup. - !!! Put CloudSysbase and CloudBackup into system/priv-app/ !!! Of course first you need Xiaomi Account from above instructions ! ( starting with Beta 7.10.5 , 05/10/2017 )
If you want the Weather back in SKINNY-V2 you need to install Weather and WeatherProvider into system/priv-app/ ( starting with Beta 7.10.12 , 20/10/2017 )
If you want to change wallpaper/lockscreen wallpaper tap and hold home screen -> change wallpaper then select Browse -> QuickPic. - Stable 8.1.3.0-SKINNY-V2
If you want to import ringtones install FileExplorer or simply paste your ringtones into internal storage MIUI/ringtone/
If you want the FM Radio back you need to install FM ( starting with Beta 6.10.13 , 14/10/2016 )
*To install apps you need to copy the entire app folder to system/app/ , set permissions to folder 0755 and permissions to .apk 0644 and reboot your phone ! DO NOT TRY TO FLASH EXTRA ZIP !
Google calendar not showing in MIUI Calendar FIX ! - Since this is a bug in MIUI 7/8/9 for a long time , I found a way to fix it :
First sync Google calendar from Accounts , then using SQLite Editor navigate to data/data/com.android.providers.calendar/databases/ , open calendar.db/calendars and modify your wanted calendar's visible and sync_events columns from 0 to 1. Next open MIUI Calendar and press Refresh !
If you like my ROM and appreciate my work , just hit the Thanks button ! If you want to help this project feel free to donate !:good:

Why screen took 71%?
Most I could get was 3h23m... not bad when compared to the 2h20m it used to be, but still far from your 5h...
Did you wipe everything before flashing the 6.8.4?

That's what it usually take... 70%+
It's normal for display to consume the most battery I think. I'm watching Youtube , Twich , etc. ~3h so the display it's always ON. I'm always using Wifi...I saw you're using Mobile Data so maybe that's why it shows a lower Display percentage

Yes , I wipe everything before flash. But first I do a backup with MIUI backup app and then restore. I always wipe everything before flashing new update . I know that I could dirty flash and not losing any data , but that's how I like to test every build , with a clean flash

Read Stage 3 and delete what apps you want or you don't use. I personaly don't deleted any libs. Also don't forget to use SD Maid to disable autostarts and delete corpses.
The list with apps I removed it's quite big and I don't remember every app name to tell you exactly. For exemple I deleted many MIUI apps like Gallery , Video , Account , Mipub , etc... I deleted 30 apps from system/app and 10 apps from system/private-app.
perfservscntbl.txt I edited using Root Explorer:
CMD_SET_CPU_CORE, SCN_APP_TOUCH, 1
CMD_SET_CPU_FREQ, SCN_APP_TOUCH, 403000
P.S. If you give few ss from system/app and system/priv-app I'll tell you exactly what I'd deleted ( due to my preference ). I usually delete apps and files directly from ROM.zip ( from 775mb+ to 525mb+ .zip ready to flash )
great tips. i do always get less than 4 hours of SOT.
GLOBAL DEV right now.
didnt try the global stable.
The stable version will be available on the 16th

Unfortunately I've deleted .zip file...
I can redownload it , "configure" it and then upload , but I will delete exactly the same apps due to my preference ( I don't use Mi Account , Video , Gallery , File Manager etc. ) Just tell me If you agree with this and I will upload it

I'm willing to try anything, lol
And i believe a bunch of people are as well, we've all been suffering with RN2's poor battery performance. In my latest attempts I already froze most of the MIUI framework anyway.
If you could do that, I'd appreciate it.
Best one !

Thank you very much, I'll test it out tonight. Have you tried using jajk's skinny kernel for 6.8.4? It's working fine for me, but might provide better results on your skinnied ROM.

No , I always use stock kernel. But If you try it with my version please tell me how it works
Thank you for this, i'm flashing it right now for test. I have an answer: i try to unzip the stock rom, remover the app/folder as you say, zip it and try to flash, but it doesn't work (it give me an error because the updater-script, that i hadn't touch, isn't in the folder 'android'). So i download your and it work like a charm. Why this? I think i wrong/missunderstood how do the modify to the zip...
EDIT: after flash it, your zip do a loop of error after put in my google account, so i have to roll-back to standard zip and try to skinnyfy it from rom

What is more crucial issue is there is not possible to access SD card with MEGA sync or others.. DROPBOX and so.. DOCUMENTS in MIUI is missing, the line with grant permisions in XML is existing but still - NOTHING. I guess there is an library or something working with SD missing.. Please help.. I'm stucked..

You get that script error because the zip is no longer signed after you repack it. I delete files directly from zip without unpacking it.
I have no problem with google account. It gives you errors when you try to login at first configuration ? I usually don't sign in at that point. I sign in using Settings-Accounts and I have no problems :/

MS EXCHANGE ACCOUNT is missing because I deleted Email app. Try using Gmail maybe you can login there ( I can login to Yahoo mail using Gmail tho )
I think you can't acces SD Card/Documents etc. because MIUI FileManager is missing and some apps ( especially MIUI apps ) depends on it. I uploaded you FileManager.zip. Extract it and copy entire folder to system/app/ then change FOLDER permissions to 0755 and FileManager.apk permissions to 0644 and reboot phone !
Once again that ROM is "build" due to my preference. Please first read what apps I've uninstalled and If you're ok with it then flash If you want

How to install first time
* First of all, make a complete backup of all your photos and internal data in the computer, since the first installation requires to eliminate ALL the sdcard content, given the encryption of Android Nougat and later; the one that warns you is not a traitor, you are going to lose all the data (just as it happens if you install other ROMS). This is due to (in turn) that if we have not formatted the sdcard, it will not boot for security protection data of the cited encryption,
* With TWRP Recovery (read tutorials on how to install it) we will make another backup, but this time System, Data, Cache, Boot, and especially the EFS (important).
* Download the ZIP flasheable and pass it to the internal memory of the phone (no matter if we have already formatted it or not).
* Restart on TWRP recovery
* Make Wipes: System, Data, Dalvik, Cache.
* Install from Recovery the EpicROM ZIP flasheable and wait for it to appear okay (If you get error 7 the TWRP in the step of "formating system / extracting system", restart in recovery immediately, and reinstall it, this is due that in Nougat you must re-generate the system partition for encryption topics, so it will install you, it should work like the rest of us )
* We reboot in fastboot mode once the rom has been installed correctly. To do this, we can do it from TWRP in REBOOT / Fastboot or by holding down the power button and the volume down button until FASTBOOT and Mitu appear by soldering an Android robot. In this step, we connect the mobile to the computer, and in the same folder that can be downloaded from en.miui.com/unlock (to unblock the bootloader) click inside that folder in a blank space in the right mouse click while holding the SHIFT key on the keyboard; a window will appear and the "open command window" option should appear. We tapped on that window. When it opens, if you open powershell (blue screen) from windows 10, type cmd and press enter. If you open the classic cmd of all life (BLACK SCREEN) we are already where we want.
* Type in the cmd (be powershell or cmd) fastboot format userdata and press enter. There will be formatted all our mobile, and restarting it will work everything.
* Restart normally and configure. Remember that the first start takes a little longer, from there, it will always light fast. In the following versions, it will NOT BE MISSING to do all this, just install without wipes and to run. I already adapt it so that I clean what I have to clean with each update EXCEPT that I expressly say something else in that UPDATE.
* Enjoy (and re-pass all data previously backed up to the internal memory).
How to install UPDATE from Epic ROM 6.X.XX / 7.X.XX
Download Epic OTA with OTA app from Settings (No MIUI Updater, use EPIC OTA!)
You can also download update manually from en.miui forum or htcmania spanish forum
Install update from Epic OTA or from TWRP Recovery manually
You don't need to wipe anything if we don't say it on update! If you have to do some special, we will let you know
Reboot
Enjoy

Awesome! Thank you so much for making this. Downloading now!
Thank you very much for the hard work and sharing with the community!
I have one question: What is the difference between this version of the rom and the "Epic Rom for Mi MIx2"? Can I simply update version 7.11.16 which is currently installed on my device using the version in this post, without doing a wipe?
Thank you!

This one is Global base, so, sadly, you'll need a clean install (fastboot format userdata included).
This is much better (new notification shade from Xiaomi was added)
Thanks i will try it but link doesnt work!
Wow. This is epic. So basically I get the Epic Team improved MIUI, but AOSP notifications? So my notifications will actually work with MIUI now? Really? No joke?? THanks a lot! Truly Epic.
Can someone confirm this has Japanese language? Usually I have to use MoreLocale to enable it. Thank you.
Nice job OP!
Thanks for the hard work and supporting this awesome device!
Ok so I flashed Rom noticed volte wasn't working took me about 30 minutes but finally figured it out. Go to settings search region. Change to your correct region and you have volte. Not sure about others but here in USA. It was set to Spain by default. All is good now. ??
Thanks i will try. it works perfectly
@MrRaines why can not change dpi, everything is very small How to use stock dpi?
I have formatted internal storage/data already when I switched to Validus.
Is formatting data needed if I switch frfromnother custom ROM or is a factory reset enough?
I'm doing the fastboot format userdata thingy from my ADB folder. But nothing happens. I push in the command and nothing happens. No output at all. Just the blinking underscore in CMD. I can't type anything else.
If I use fastboot devices, my phone does show up. What do I do wrong?
Fastboot reboot also works, so it does react to fastboot commands I guess?
Does it include 5x6 home screen layout?

I had the same issues which drove me crazy. Fastboot devices returned the correct code, any other fastboot commands seemed to crash without any message.
I ended up using another computer which had never seen any Android stuff before.
With the stock theme.. or any of the themes for that matter except the ones included with really small icons all have an issue where icons are smaller than they usually appear and the text underneath is almost touching the icon.
Anyone have this problem ?

Right........... so flashed this now I'm getting
'Can't get valid device ID' on the first boot, no WIFI no Signal. Great.
Also can you not add epic recovery.
Some help would be really appreciated.
Things I've done:
Reflashed fastboot Xiaomi global rom (dev)
Wiped all with fastboot format userdata
reinstalled this rom - still no valid device ID.
Downloaded again, seems to be okay now....

MIUI Debloater - MIUI 7/8/9, Stock Nougat and Oreo - UPDATED [16-Apr]

Hi fellow Redmi 3s / Prime Users,
I have created a flashable Zip to remove all the unnecessary bloatware and extra Apps from MIUI and AOSP roms.
You can do the same by rooting your device and removing the apps one by one. But there should be a better and quicker way to do this.
It will remove around ~50 apps in MIUI and ~30 in AOSP roms in one go
App List -- https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77017588&postcount=12
Tested personally on,
MIUI8 - Global
MIUI9 - Global & Developer
AOSP - Nougat
Lineage 14.1 official
AEX mod
Viper OS
CrDroid 3.8.5
AOSP - Oreo
Xperience
Nitrogen Official
Atomic
PixelExperience
Please USE on any other ROM not listed here at your OWN risk.
Prerequisites,
Install and setup Nova Launcher.
Install and setup Gboard keyboard.
What it will remove,
Google Apps excluding Play Store (obviously) - So reinstall whatever you want from Play Store afterwards
Your default launcher and keyboards - hence the prerequisites.
Many many more ...
It does keep your dual apps, second space, scrolling screenshot from MIUI but I have removed personal assistant, Mi launcher and Mi cloud.
If you need those then refer to last section which provides guidelines to edit the zip for personal preference.
Why you should use it,
Makes more space available
Cleans up the app drawer
Less apps should logically lead to better battery life
How to flash,
Reboot to recovery
Flash the zip file
DO NOT WIPE DALVIK AND CASHE
Reboot
What if you want some of the apps which I think are Bloatwares ?
Install WinRar
Open the zip and browse to DeBloater.zip\META-INF\com\google\android
Open updater-script
Suppose you use MIUI screen recorder app then locate the line which deletes this app ( I have added app description comment for every app so you can easily locate the line )
delete_recursive("/system/app/MiuiScreenRecorder"); # Mi Screen Recorder
Put a "#" at start of this line (which we call as commenting out the line ) so the modified line will be,
#delete_recursive("/system/app/MiuiScreenRecorder"); # Mi Screen Recorder
Save the file.
Note that there are some apps which will need multiple lines to be commented out (like "Mi Cloud" requires three lines to be commented out like above.) So search entire file to find the app name and comment out all such lines.
If you use other ZIP software then you may unzip .. modify updater-script .. and rezip.
For any query related to any app or the modification .. just comment below with your query.
Changelog :
v1 - Initial Release
v2 - Webview & launcher won't be removed anymore so as to have better usability.

Should work fine as MIUI has the same app names across devices.
Just to be on safer side do the following [ if you wish to try it ]
Download and save full recovery update zip from http://en.miui.com/download-298.html and save it in your Internal storage.
Flash the debloater ( refer steps in OP .. again DO NOT WIPE DALVIK and CASHE right after flashing debloater)
In case you have errors/force closes in the phone usage .. just wipe cashe and dalvik cashe in recovery.
Flash full recovery rom zip file
disable dm-verify .. you can flash lazy-flasher zip as well.
reboot.
All your system apps will be restored and you are back to normal.
You can use any third party keyboard .. just make sure you have one setup before removing all stock ones via the debloater file.

Also you did not wipe dalvik and cashe after the flashing the zip right.
In any case .. if you can access recovery then,
wipe cashe and dalvik cashe
Install full rom package (which I mentioned in https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76255001&postcount=4 )

Are you able to get out of bootloop and back to stock rom with flashing full ROM package?
I have used the same process countless times during creation of the debloater zip. It is just removal of app folders from system partition so the full ROM package should sort this.
As I mentioned it was a long shot and I have few users flashed this on Note 4 (mido) and worked fine there.
But still, really sorry for the inconvenience.

What is Project Pixel?
Project Pixel is a small team of developers that work on porting most, if not all of the Google Pixel features to stock firmwares.

12. Google Keep (With Handwriting Libs)
13. Google Lens (Works within Google Photos and Recents in Pixel Launcher)

15. GPay (Working Payment Method along with NFC functionality)
16. Google Phone
17. Google Pie Emojis (Not Samsung Ones)

Use Beyond ROMs twrp. Because you updated firmware to ASG8 your using ASG8 kernel. Reading the notes tells you, that only ASF3 is supported, which is why he said to use Beyond ROMs TWRP which is based on ASF3.
Also, don't flash Magisk. It now comes as part of the recovery

I think you have the wrong twrp recovery. Use the latest "asf3 twrp" and S-/G-Cam should work again.

Guys what are the bugs on S10e I will try to fix them.
Hello everyone !!!
I want to install this ROM but I did not understand the installation procedure very well. For now, I'm with the original ROM with Magisk and TWRP (patched with Magisk 19.4-73). Could you explain to me in detail the procedure please?
Thank you.

New Mi 10 Ultra Super wallpapers for Mi 9T Pro

I am not an expert so I will not answer questions, but I was trying to make the new saturn super wallpaper work and it could not work so I share the method that worked for me, Use the Lucky patcher as an installer since I was skipping the error that I could not install system applications from unofficial sources, with the lucky patcher the app is installed correctly and you can now select the new super wallpaper along with those of earth and mars. https://bit.ly/33VepWP
I have:
Mi 9T Pro / redmi K20 Pro
MIUI 12 v12.0.3.0
Unlocked bootloader
Rooted device with magisk
Fully functional MOD EDIT: Content Removed
https://bit.ly/33VepWP
I also share my method. You can also try Mixplorer is you have. Allow root on settings and then highlight select the saturn apk, tap the three dot menu, then select install. It will install as root and you can now use saturn superwallpapers
on my miui.eu, I just installed and restarted. The file I got on YouTube I don't know if it's the same.
Also you can unlock installing system applications from unofficial sources. Just type in terminal setprop persist.sys.allow_sys_app_update 1
Unfortunately not working for me, black screen...
