Charger Specifications - Honor 8 Pro Questions & Answers

The charger that comes with Honor 8 pro has output of 5V/2A and 9V/2A as specified on the charger itself.
Can someone tell me the wattage(W)?
And Huawei has its own Super charge technology. So, Honor 8 pro does support that tech?
Sent from my Honor 8 pro using Tapatalk

Electricity basics (Ohm's Law): Power (Watt) = Intensity (Ampere) times Voltage (Volt)
Which makes: W = 2 x 9 = 18W. <-- I guess 18W is for SuperCharge.
With 5V/2A it makes 10W.

Forgot ohm's law. Happens.
That's a normal fast charger.
And not the Huawei super charger hmm

No worries happens to everyone.
Have you tried google-ing anything about this ? It could be written in the manual, haven't taken a look at it yet.

The honor phones ship with a regular fast charger. The Huawei phones ship with a custom Super charger that's considerably faster than this regular fast charger.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that feature not available on Honor phones only ? I mean, you'll need a fast-charging cable and a fast-charging charger. Even if you use a Honor it will work though.
Not every cable works with fast-charging as not every fast-charger works with any cable. You'll need both fast-charging compatible to get this to work. I might be mistaken though, but AFAIK, that's it.

Is there some sort of special quick charger needed? None of my qc2 or qc3 chargers charge this thing at any sort of reasonable speed
Only the Huawei Quick chargers work. I have a Blitzwolf charger that isn't specifically quick charging, but it charges it fast enough. Also my Chromebook Pixel charger charges the P9 very fast too. USB C is amazing - I love having one charger for both the phone and laptop!!

The Huawei 9V2A charger is much faster. See the discussions and timings etc here ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/help/charger-huawei-p9-t3373037
I purchased this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QEX83LA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It charged from 52% to 81% in 30 minutes (61.1%/hr), and another instance it charged from 27% to 90% in 70 minutes. (52.4%/hr). This is without touching the phone (screen off). Also I am not using the cable that the phone came with, not sure if this matters.
If I want order from ebay or aliexpress. Which should i get thats legit? EU plug.

Neither, it uses Huawei's own Fast Charging protocol. Don't get a Qualcomm QC2.0 or 3.0 charger, they wont fast charge the p9

I just order quick charge from china (aliexpress.com). It took 15 days to reach me in saigon-viet nam.
After testing, an interesting is that, when you use adapter quick charge (9v-2a), there are two thunder symbol appear on battery i/o one when you use original charge.
I am not sure the timing charge will com shoter. I will do some test and let you now.
But one thig you need to know, your p9 gonna be lag when use the quick charge. I am not sure this fault come from my quick charge adapter or because by itself function

It does not lag here, but you need to have in mind that real quick charge kicks in when screen is off. I see wattage difference in my wall tester the charger uses when I use the phone and while it is idling.

Old Nexus 6 Charger?

This is probably a dumb question, but if I buy some USB-C -> USB cables, can I use my old Nexus 6 charging bricks and still get fast charge on my Pixel? I have a couple of them from my Nexus 6, and I'd hate for them to be useless now.
Don't take my word for gospel but the OEM Nexus 6 charging block has the same output voltage as the pixels block.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
I used the USB cable that came with the XL with my N6 charger last night. Seems to work just fine.
You absolutely can. Just make sure you have a Benson approved cable.
Also, it won't charge as fast as the OEM charger.
The N6 Charger Specs:
Nexus 6 battery is 3220mAh Turbo charger rates:
[email protected]=14.4W (Turbo 2)
[email protected]=14.4W (Turbo 1)
[email protected] =9W (Standard output)
You will only get standard output since the Type-C standard is 5v only. So you will charge at approximately 1.6A rather than the approximate 3A from the Pixel Charger

This may be helpful.
Below is a quote from a Google engineer from another forum.
"Will it be safe to use my nexus 6p USB-C charger with the pixel/XL?
I would advise against it. Please use the charger that comes in the Pixel box with it.?* The Nexus 6P charger will technically work with the cord it comes with, but if you use a USB-IF certified USB3.1 cord, the Nexus 6P charger behaves badly.
You do not want to risk a $800 phone on a $10 charger. If you use the OEM 18W Pixel charger, warranty will cover any problems you encounter.
Also, will it be safe to use any qualcomm Quickcharge charger?
Is the Qualcomm QuickCharge charger USB Type-A (square plug) or Type-C (round plug)?
Type-A (square plug) QC chargers: it depend on the manufacturer. Some make good chargers, others make bad. It depends on the maker.
Type-C (round plug) QC chargers: these are bad and go against the spec. I do not recommend using any Type-C Qualcomm QuickCharge chargers.
also, according to the processor spec, it does support quickcharge 3.0
No. The Pixel does not support QC at all. It uses USB-PD (PowerDelivery) at [email protected] and [email protected] levels. You need a USB-PD power supply with those levels or greater.
will there be any harm or advantage if i use a quick-charge 3.0 certified charger?
You need to speak to QualComm. I have personally tested "QualComm Certified" chargers that are bad. I have data to prove this. However there are many "good" QC3.0 chargers as well.
There will be no harm (if the charger is good). There is no advantage (if the charger is good). A QC Type-A charger will work like any other USB-A port and charge at 1.5A maximum. (It remains to be seen if the Pixel will recognize Apple 2.4A charging.)."

Awesome, thanks for the reply! So from what I am understanding, the cable is more important than the charging brick? I charge my phone every night, and I want to avoid fast charging in that scenario since I've heard that Fast Charges create more wear and tear on the battery than a standard charge. That being the case I'd like to use an old standard charging brick (like a samsung one) and then use a certified USB - USB-C cable to charge the phone.

Sometimes those estimations vary quite a bit. Reinserting the plug resets this, and can sometimes change the estimation by a few hours.

So slow charging ...

Hey guys, i bought a xiaomi mi max 32gb.. i have the original european charge and the official cable .. but the phone charging very slow.. from 20 % to 40 % almost 30 minutes. The phone and the components its new . never opened , tell me what to do please !
Considering this phone has a large battery, it's normal it takes more time to fully change it. Maybe next time get a phone with smaller battery capacity, and then you can charge your phone few times a day. [emoji14]
Sent from my MI MAX using Tapatalk
I'd say that's about the charge rate I'm getting. I've got the Global version with the same European 2Amp charger. I'd have to agree with iJohnny, the 4850mAh battery is a bit of a beast, so it will take longer to charge. 20% battery gives me around 2hrs SOT depending, so it's not all bad!
The MI MAX is compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The included charger, however, is a simple USB charger. Buy a Quick Charge 3.0 charger to charge the phone faster.

Yeah. Good and affordable brand in my opinion. I already have android TV box from them and I am very happy. So I decided to get their QC 3.0 charger. Good quality charger, good and long cable in the box.
Google it, and you can even find some videos on YouTube about their charger.
But if you plan on using Xiaomi Eu ROM then you won't have QC 3.0 because it's not enabled in that ROM.

Now I thinking that while I have a Xiaomi power bank quick charge 3.0 10.000 PLM01ZM. Why the phone can't charge fast ? Some guys told that the battery is too high so if I buy a quick charger 3.0 I will not see any difference right?

you have to use the oem charger for that.
My 4000mAh battery is charged in 1h and 10 min.
Huawei Quick Charge, my guess is that it requires a switching voltage (e.g. 5v and 9v) in order to fast charge.

Will it be OK to charge it with other chargers such only 1A or 2A? I have some Samsung chargers and Anker.
The Huawei charger works better than the OnePlus One charger even if is lower wattage. Charging is not all about the wattage. I actually charged a OnePlus One quicker on the lower wattage Huawei.
Probably will have to wait for the M30X to get Godlike charging of the M20P or buy an iPhone. I heard they give you a super fast charger in the box

Yes of course. I own mate 10 pro which also supports the same 22,5w. I am pleasantly surprised how fast it is charging with normal chargers...
Fast charging i only fast in the beginning anyways, it slows down beginning from roughly 60% getting slower and slower, to make sure the battery stays healthy. So all above lets say 70% is not much slower than the fast charger.

I get that apsect. But this phone has 5000mah battery and probably could actually utilize the 40w better... but wasn't advertised as compatible. Oppo and OnePlus seem to have a more superior regime with higher amps to actually charge even faster with less heat and such ... But would be curious if anyone has tested Mate 20x with 22.5w vs 40w charge block to see if it seems the 40w is possible on 20x.
I tested the Huawei 20w charger with the OnePlus One 6 and it was quicker than the 50 watt OnePlus One charger.

Ok...so I guess Huawei is using similarly high amps to BBK brands. Just looked it up and Oppo Lambo 50w is 10v and 5a.
Still curious if the 20X will pull more than 22.5w on the 40w brick?? Wouldn't change times much, but could be worth having the 40w now and then when you are in a hurry
