Thanks to Zidoo for the Opportunity to show and tell
Hope you enjoyed the look around of the ZUI interface
4 core CPU, running Android 7.0 32 bit,
Not a power house beast, most should be Good, Videos should be ok
Interesting to see what allwinner of today is with what it has to offer,
Android 7 would should add more smarts hopefully.
Possible incompatible with some testing software unsure.
Antutu sound was not clean, very stuttery. both demos.
Vellamo, onscreen animations frozen thru some of the web-browsing demo's.
3d Benchmark some of the Animation screen did drop out.
All test shown are only a reference or a guide to performance on some sort of a level playing field.
How accurate these results maybe in real terms is always open to conjecture.
If it looks and feels fast, with general operation on how apps run, start up etc
and the scores indicate that in some way, then some justification is plausible.
Temperatures looking good, low 40,s idle to 70c under the pump, (3Dmark)
Blue tooth remote Excellent.
No display on front one would thought with the size of that window.
Small Blue or Red pin hole led next to window for power indication.
Found Both Wifi and ethernet speeds to be good at this location.
Internal Movie Player or Media Centre as its called also good.
Scanned SMB, NFS, playing the majority tested, more testing to be done.
Netflix OK not HD looking pretty good.
No Kodi or equivalent installed as yet
A good looking Media player with a flash looking UI and Interface not to bad at all.

How does it works after a few months usage? I'm planning to buy one of these. Or something similar under 100$.
Sent from my NX569H using Tapatalk

It's one month i am using it and i have mixed opion of this box. Obviously it's a beautiful piece of hardware, but the firmware is limiting its potential. With a fine tuning it works well with kodi and all the common stuff you want to install on an android box. The embedded player works fantastic even if it misses the look and feel of Kodi while navigating the list of movies and other media.
I have choosen it because it's sayd Zidoo supports a lot its products. H6 pro was released, if i am not mistaken, in August 2017 and it received three firmwares so far. Anyway several problems still exist; nothing scary for an experienced user, nevertheless is not the kind of product to unbox, plug and play easily.

Not customizable android, No Ethernet port, when playing 4k video is lagging. But, as I sad, is doing the job. I recommend it only for non exigent user.

There is a new release:
http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/firmware-v1-0-20-for-zidoo-h6pro.7202/

Does it have release-keys or unofficial firmware with test-keys?
I'm wondering because some streaming apps test on it...
Thanks!

Just avoid this box until the Zidoo devs provide a stable working Firmware!
I recently bought it and 4 firmwares are out since its launch and every time its breaking something and fixing something.
No Pre-installed ZDMC (Ziddo's Kodi fork) and they ask you to sideload it.
All the FW updates have problems with Kodi 17.x, no hardware acceleration, low framerate, high cpu even on 1080p, x265 doent play anymore on Kodi on most recent FW Update!
Playstore search doesnt work,
NO OTA updates they boast about. Everytime I have to flash it with USB.
These are the pure basic functionality and if Zidoo can't even provide a stable tested fw addressing these there is no point to buy it. Zidoo is more busy in launching newer devices and supporting their higher end models and not giving proper attention on this one. Not complaining about hardware build , its good.
Visit the Zidoo forums and you will find many users with these issues and lot other issues.
Avoid it!

Hello.
How did you manage to make sure of this? I'm using VLC and MX player, with hardware acceleration enabled and it's working. The CPU temps and usage also dropped a lot but despite this, I also suspect that there is enough to improve... I'm on fw 1.0.28 http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/firmware-v1-0-28-for-zidoo-h6pro.8671/

Kodi is all stormed on Zidoo. Forget it.
Try these apps I told, it's working. I just do not understand how VLC and MX are working with hardware acceleration without the GPU being properly installed.
I run GFX bench and I confirm GPU is not working, it's a shame.
Every chinese box has serious software problems. While there is no model here in XDA or with custom ROMs, it will be this suffering...

Zidoo has own fork of Kodi called as ZDMC. I am using Zidoo x5 with ZDMC for almost 3 years + but it has limited ram and a slow Wifi so I thought to upgrade and bought this H6 Pro which has better specs and was under my budget.
What I didnt knew it doesn't come with ZDMC and Kodi sideload doesnt work properly! My bad I didnt checked the forums before buying!
The hardware is good but like you said **** software support and they cant even fix it (less efforts or funding?) and instead they keep launching newer box with more powerful hardware! This is how Zidoo screw us! They do release updates but what's the point of buying something you can't use bug free immediately! Instead have to follow forums and hacks and wait till they release new broken updates! Never ever got their hyped OTA update it didnt worked on x5 neither on this H6 Pro. I Should've spent more and bought Minix U9-H which atleast has no serious issues like Zidoo. I am gonna wait for one last update and if it didnt work I will sell it.

Hello to all!
I recently purchased this tv box and I still waiting to receive it. Unfortunately, I did not check the Zidoo forums before complete the purchase. Now, I am very affraid after all the negatives comments that the tv box have. Do you have any advise in order to avoid or not have to much issues with the box? For example, is it recomenbable make the upgrade to the lastest firmware? or make a factory reset?
I have a big issue, and it is that I can not request a refund or change of the box becasue in my country is very complicate to do that.
Thank you for your advises.

They did not solve anything, infact they made it worse, Google is crashing every 4-5 seconds and the unit is useless untill you disable all google services.... Moreover they do not reply to any threads in their forum asking for help, since months now...

How can I root the Zidoo H6 Pro?

[Review] Allshare Cast Dongle - lag/disconnection problems solved

Just got mine this morning. I was a little surprised it came next day from ordering because I never paid for express delivery.
Anyway when I opened it, I was surprised the dongle is so small and compact. It will be handy to take on trips.
l have just had a good play with it on my 47" hdtv and it's better than I thought it would be. There is only one button on it and it is used for resetting the dongle to use with other S3's. So when you first turn it on you must press reset to pair it with your S3. I did have to connect it a couple of times before it would stick but once it's connected, it will connect every time now.
The S3's screen is mirrored exactly. It will also auto rotate to fill your tv screen if your screen rotation is on. Although there is a slight delay when the screen rotates there is no delay when starting apps and games or viewing your pictures. Playing videos is not mirrored though using the stock video player. Unfortunately you can not use the S3 while watching video. It will stop playing if you exit the video player.
Browsing the Web on a large screen is a pretty good experience. It's great for sharing with others. When watching YouTube, your S3 screen will go black and it will fill the screen of your tv. You can still browse for related videos while its playing but not exit the playing YouTube video page otherwise it will stop. I really like this web browsing on a big screen while controlling it on my S3. I can see myself using the dongle for this a lot.
Now to the fun aspect of this dongle which is playing your mobile games on your big tv. I initially thought from video's I watched that there was going to be too much lag to play anything graphic intensive like modern combat 3 but I was wrong. It plays superbly. Like most people though playing a fps with a touch screen is too challenging so I play it with my dualshock 3 and I suddenly feel I am playing a game on a console. This is really what most people will get this dongle for. With more graphic rich games coming in the future this dongle will be really quick and convenient like a console to connect and play games on your big screen tv and not just Samsung tv's.
Verdict:
I think this is a wonderful addition to the S3. A must have if you want to browse the web, watch YouTube or play games on your big screen tv. It's worth the money I paid for it because it opens up a lot more options to enjoy your S3 to the fullest. I just wish it came out a lot sooner.

1080p playback with an mkv with high bitrate runs smooth on it ?
Playing games with it, have video delay ?...
Further testing
I have tried a 720p mkv and it plays smooth. What the S3 can play will be streamed to your tv via the dongle. I will try a 1080p mkv later and report.
As for games, I have tried Modern combat 3, Gangstar rio, Shadowgun and Asphalt 7. All play without delay except Asphalt 7 as the graphics are moving so fast it can't keep up and the controls are very tricky. Asphalt 7 is currently free on samsung app store. It has a special dual screen mode which shows a map on the S3 while you play the game on your tv, but like I said its tricky to control. I will update the op on other games that play ok.
More testing.
I have played a 1080p mkv high bitrate 24fps Avatar movie which the S3 is capable of playing smoothly and it streams to the dongle and my tv very smooth. No audio sync problems I can see.
nice review, but sorry for question: if i have smart tv es6800 still i need that dongle to use allshare cast? somewhere i have read that smart tv with wifi-direct doesnt need that dongle
The biggest problem I'm having is the Audio/Video sync is fine playing videos but anything else including games or even just scrolling through the menus there's about a 1 second delay on audio where video is just a fraction of a second, and obviously there's no settings to fix this so it's pretty much ruined the whole thing for me.
Is it possible to change the audio output to the phones speakers? I have a HDMI computer monitor with no built in speakers.
Sent from my Galaxy S3
I will be getting this for gaming and surfing.......
with this i dont really see the need for a Tab anymore.....i mean the only reason i used my tab was a bigger screen, my phone is faster than my tab so i would love to use it on my super 60inch tv and take advantage.
thanks for the review, i was a little spectical but i think i will just pull the trigger and get it.
Sorry for my ignorance, but will this work to"share " movies from the Play store? I can stream YouTube videos now thru the Ps3 but not my movies I bought.

All it does is "Mirror" everything you see on the S3 screen.
Meaning everything you can see on phone screen just gets transmitted to the Tv screen the same way a HDMI cable works.

I have read that Samsung's new 2012 models support Allshare Cast. It will probably require a firmware update but I'm not sure on that as I have yet to buy a new model. Check on the Samsung website or give them a call to find out.

I don't see any sound change options or any settings for allshare cast. Plugging in headphones is not allowed either. It cuts the connection when you plug headphones into S3.

I'm not getting this audio delay on the games I tried except on Asphalt 7 racing game because its bonkers fast it can't keep up. Unplug and reset to pair again. That might fix it. Another thing to try is turn on game mode on your tv, that reduces the scan rate. It helps on my tv. By the way what s/w version you on. I've got LF21.

It's still a valid question, because I know at least T-mobile TV is blocked when using the MHL adapter, and I would assume it's the same on this. Realizing that this is for the international version, and you don't have T-mobile TV, but I have also heard other apps, like HBO GO, detect the output and block it.
The part I am most surprised by is that you are telling me there is no lag? Have you tried any emulators? Mainly N64oid, and FPSE? If those run smoothly, I will be delighted!
I'm not using any paid movie service so I couldn't tell ya. If they use there own video player then they can probably block it. If you are using such a service please let us know.
I have not used those emulator apps you mention but from what I've played so far there is no mirroring lag of the S3. Asphalt 7 is now my favourite waste of time right now. It plays fast and now I have my sixaxis controller to play it with it's not a bad game. I particularly love the dual screen mode with the track displayed on the S3. The only lag or frame rate slowdown is because the game isn't optimised for the S3. Your large tv just displays 1 to 1 what the S3 shows. If the S3 is lagging it shows it on the tv screen. Anyway if the S3 can play those emulator games smoothly then it will mirror that on your tv.
I did have a slight delay when using the BLG8 stock rom. You can see this with the stopwatch app in the clock app. I then flashed the DLI4 jellybean leak and the delay has gone. As of now this is the best rom to use with this dongle.
Where i can get it ? dont find it anywhere

That's really interesting. The Jelly Bean rom has the best performance when using this device. Makes sense I supposed. Do most of the games you are playing have a dual mode, where the phone becomes some sort of controller instead of continuing to mirror the image? I am curious to see if you still had good results on a game that isn't optimized this way. Sorry to keep bothering you with essentially the same question, it's just that i would hate to drop $80-$100 on something that ended up being too laggy to use. Thanks a ton for the feedback.

Here is one place. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EAD-T...47386082&sr=8-1&keywords=allshare+cast+dongle
The only two with dual screen mode features are MC3 and Asphalt 7, both free on samsung app store. MC3 just displays the controls and Asphalt 7, the track. I particularly like it showing where the nitro and cash is on the track. I am looking out for more dual screen games.
Yes I was using the jellybean leak so I didn't have any lag delay from when I first tried it. Then I flashed ics blg8 and it was showing a visible delay.
Max Payne is very smooth as it is on the S3.
Has anyone that ordered thru Amazon already gotten theirs?
Try handtec.co.uk. They do international delivery. They are selling the EU version so i'm not sure it will work with an US S3. You could email to ask. It should cost about $85 if you choose Royal Mail delivered.
Have you test how this works with Bluetooth phone calls? I want to get this to integrated into my car display and act as a navigation but I don't want to loose my current in car Bluetooth. Also is there a option to turn off the phone display and only display the thru the dongle or a horizontal screen lock?
Thanks!
Bluetooth headset calling shouldn't be problem as you can turn on bluetooth while you are casting. I will try it with my headset.
As for connecting to your in-car display. You would need hdmi input on it and able to display in HD. You would also need a voltage converter to plug the power adapter into. It may not be possible without some ingenuity.
Turning the S3 screen off will also turn off on the other display.

Ramos i10 Tablet Intel Z2580 2GHz/2GB RAM 10.1 Inch Retina / Android

Hi
I just recieved my Ramos i10 Tablet (android version) and want to collect all possible info about the device here. Like ROMS, experiences, tips & tricks, tests etc. As I write this, my Tablet found a new OTA update, and currently downloading it.
Short review:
The tablet is made of high quality materials, and almost everything on this one is real aluminium or metal. The overall build quality is good, but the tablet is also a bit heavy.
The screen is bright and have good colours, sharp picture and not much to complain about. So far I found the screen to be better than on my other Chinese tablet (Vido M10). And the resolution is also very nice.
It has 2 front speakers (ACC dual speakers) and actually it is capable to play real loud, and the sound quality is also ok for a chinese tablet.
The speed of the tablet is really good. There is not much lag (if any) when I have used it. It seems to be faster with its Intel CPU and 2GB RAM than my previous tablets with Rockchip 3188 CPU.
The bad thing is that the tablet came without any Google Play Store. But you can use other stores like "Aptoide". I am downloading an OTA update right now, and hope that it maybe will add the store, but I have to wait and see.
UPDATE: I managed to install the Google Play Store, read the instructions further down!
Other than that the tablet is really nice and I just love the "HTC One" design that it has.

Fixes

It can be installed so it works 100% no crashes, no fc, and all apps can be downloaded/installed fine!
I found this trick to do it after 2 days of trying all kind of methods!
Be sure to backup all important stuff first on the tablet, because you will need to factory reset it.
1. ROOT the tablet with Shuame ROOT tool http://www.shuame.com
You will need these files for the ROOTING
- i10 driver : http://pan.baidu.com/s/1em9l3 or here mirrored all 3in1 file http://peecee.dk/upload/download/436622
- Ramos ROOT file: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1w30L5

2. Follow my ROOT/ADB instructions in this word document! http://peecee.dk/upload/download/436617 or here mirrored http://www.sendspace.com/file/dbow6s (close the popup that may come, when hitting download)
(Big thanks to Daphne for the translation!) The needed ROOT files, drivers and tool are also in links inside the document. On the tablet, remember first to enable "Unknown sources" in security and enable "USB debugging mode" in the developer options.
3. When successfully ROOTed, let Shaume install its SuperSU and the other apps it comes with to the tablet.
You may check with ROOT Checker if it is really rooted now or not. (ROOT checker app, you can download using another store, for example the Aptoide store)
4. Reboot the tablet
5. Now factory reset the tablet, after a fresh reset, SuperSU should still be there and it is still ROOTed.
But your removed all the Shaume bloatware and chinese appstore it also installed.
6. Download the Gapps package here http://www.mediafire.com/download/m00z1385acthrdm/Gapps-s7yler.rar or here http://peecee.dk/upload/download/436619 or mirror2 http://www.sendspace.com/file/g8h7lz and put them on a SDcard, and then the card in the tablet.
7. Install the "Google Account Manager APK" file from SDcard (do it via the file manager app on the tablet)
8. After that go to settings in the tablet, then to Accounts and Add new Google account and login with your account
9. Now install the Google Play Store APK from SDcard (if that is NOT possible, then skip this step!)
10. Install the GooglePlay.Installer(ALL-Colors).apk from SDcard, it should install all nessecary Gapps!
10. Then run "Installer cracked Google Play" from the app drawer, inside the app choose Modded Google Play Original Style, and then the button Install and Reboot.
11. Reboot
12. If you can see Google Play store, then start it and your good! but if you can't find the shortcut to Google Play store on the desktop! (actually it is there) then do a factory reset of the whole tablet again.
13. After the factory reset, you should have the Google Play Store shortcut on the desktop!
14. But hold - you just did a new factory reset! so you need to do step 7 and 8 again.
15. After that start Google Play Store and it should now work!
16. No crash, and you can download apps and games without problems!
17. After that I installed Titanium Backup Pro (paid version) and converted the important Google Play apps from user apps to system apps. So when a factory reset is needed again, they will stay on the tablet. Because they are then inside the ROM.
Have fun & hit the thanks button if it worked for you!

Thank you for your great review!
It looks like HTC One on Steroids .
I am just looking for good 16/10 10inch tablet, Is it worth the extra ~40$ over Ifive 3X?
Who makes better tabets/FW's ? iFive/Pipo/Ramos?

You have to look on what CPUs they use. The Intel CPU in the Ramos i10 I have found to be much faster than the Rockchip 3188 that many of the other China tablets use. I have compared it to another 10" tablet (with Rockchip 3188) and the Ramos i10 is much more smooth in the browser and UI.
2D and 3D Games also run very nice & smooth on the Ramos i10. While some few games don't always run that well on the Rockchip 3188.
UPDATE check my quick comparison video here: Intel Atom vs. Rockchip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NNfDrO43Ho&list=PL4ZcKmLvMO7rJxHVewY6wObtvsofM32dk
Wow- now I see the difference in UI performance between Z2580 VS RK3188,
I know that there is no much dev on intel based SOC, but if the official rom is stable and bug free out of the box is good enough for me.
Thanks so much for your contribution!

Thank you so much :') That is all I was looking for. You have really useful and interesting videos at your channel.
I am waiting for this tablet i10, I think that in one week I will receive it. When I was searching for good quality tablets, i had to decide between this Ramos i10 and the Pipo M9pro, but I realized that there was some problem with the antenna in the PIPOm9, so i decided for this Ramos i10, it seems to be that the z2580 processor has better user experience and it is more fluid, right? What do you think about the Pipo m9 pro vs the Ramos i10?

Thanks, regarding the Pipo M9, I don't really know that tablet, but I think it's an older tablet by now. The Ramos i10 is newer, and the Intel Atom CPU does a better job than the Rockchip RK3188 in my opinion. The Ramos i10 is much more smooth, where the Rockchip tablets can have small hickups and lag. The gaming performance is also excelent on the Ramos i10. The WiFi is also very good.

No idea, but I think you could maybe install "floating apps", then you can open some apps in floating windows - that is not 100% the same, but the closest thing. I think the other tablets has the feature built into the firmware.

Hi St7ler, i've just received my i10 but i would like to know if when you download facebook app from playstore it is bad optimized for tablet? I mean, the fonts and photos are oversized and other stuff. It happens in all android tablets (galaxy tab too?) or only in chinese devices.

What do you mean? Fonts and photos are oversized?? On mine fonts are just small as normal and photos are resized to the tablets screen width. Can you post a link to a screenshot of what you mean? Because I don't understand what the problem should be. Text and pictures are displayed fine on mine in Facebook.

I mean that for example in the ipads facebook app is different than the iphones facebook app, but in ramos (and i think all android tablets) the facebook app is just the same than the one for phones and it only increases the size of the photos are resized to the screen width as you say, but I think that it is normal.
Another thing that I've just realized is that the digitizer is not too accurate, when I use the tip of my finger, sometimes is clicks like 2 or 3 milimeter away. About other things the tablet is awesome. If the digitizer were better, it would be the best tablet of that price.
Another thing xD I installed the multiwindow feature (not floating apps aplication) that I posted on a Youtube video, and it is really cool, better than the Galaxy tablets feature.

Sounds great with the multiwindow feature, maybe I should try it. So you just did what he does in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcPcjMMwYjM ??
But I don't get it? what is the difference on that and floating apps? It is both just floating apps?

[Q] Can it Goat?

Can the Fire TV play the recently released Goat Simulator port for Android?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coffeestainstudios.goatsimulator
Half the price of the PC version.
Really hope they will make a one level time-limited version so we could test it for free.
They should do that anyway since many people are having trouble with it.
Someone please make a performance video if you get it on Fire TV. (from an actually supported device)
How do you force all Play Store apps to be "compatible" with Fire TV?
Edit:I theorize since Amazing Frog from OUYA runs on Fire TV and Goat Simulator runs on OUYA,that Goat Simulator should be able to run on Fire TV.
Hope I am right.
I usually just use http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/ to get the APK then install it via ADB. You have to be logged in and own the app in order for it to download apps that cost money however.
Sadly not...Looks funky and broken :crying:

Funny note:how did they not get flagged for using the Mario POW block graphic?
Fire TV can Goat!
There is multiple versions of it,and you have the wrong version.
Each version is made just for specific GPU types.
You need to get it with another device that has Adreno for the GPU or fake as a compatible Adreno device (Nexus or Samsung?) to get the right version.
I jumped the gun and "did something" so I could test it and it runs beautifully on Fire TV.
I even get extremely smooth fps in some cases thanks to GPU governor on Performance and my other tweaks.
Obscure:Goat came from something on the 17th.
Controls are slightly limited with a Logitech K400r Keyboard.
Too bad I can't find out how to modify the controls in my status, but it is playable with a K400r,and not sure about joypad controllers.
It seems to mirror various GTA Android keyboard inputs.
(1 makes the Baa noise,2 does nothing, and WASD is strafe right or left/forward/reverse while cursor keys do nothing besides hideing touch parts instead of having proper movement)
I have to use touch controls for proper movement and camera rotation.
I'm using the version that came from my Galaxy Note 2. I have a Nexus 7, should I try that APK from that?
Assuming Nexus 7 has Qualcomm/Snapdragon/Adreno,then yes.
I remember something about Dolphin Emulator and Nexus devces not working so well with it.
Best part about Play Store:Buy an app, gain access to that same app in the Play Store on other devices in the same account.
Heat issues,I got Kernel Tuner saying 32F instead of reading the actual temperature.
It must be over 9000F degrees!
I really hope they fix this well known overheating issue.
Edit:Not so big an issue for Fire TV because of the massive heatsink.
I don't ever get lags in Goat Simulator, but it still makes the Fire TV's surface get really hot.
It is a common issue called the "Matrix Goat" bug when you have the wrong GPU related version of Goat Simulator.
The right version on Fire TV runs beautifully unless you have XBMC and are low on RAM.
(I don't have XBMC,so it runs perfectly fine on my end.)
Depending if you get it through another Adreno device of yours to your Fire TV (however that procedure is done),you can exit on 2nd run when the "download" screen appears and relaunch it to play again with no more interruptions.
My guess is that it downloads the data through that on a listed compatible device.
If it exits or crashes, you may not have enough free RAM at the moment.
I never had a random crash in Fire TV on Goat Simulator, but the main problem for others is XBMC or other things taking too much RAM.
Get something called "Memory Booster" so you can keep about 1.1gb of RAM free before starting the game.
It has this small rectangle to touch for freeing up some RAM.
Just remember to make sure the boosting is on aggressive while some apps you use are checked on the ignore list.
On Goat Simulator, the console command can be opened with tilde (next to 1/!) on a K400r keyboard.
A really good command is "FOV 100" for better sight of surroundings on a big TV screen.
Using FOV 10 gets you a good look at the smoothness of the framerate.
Then there is cheats like fly, walk, and ghost which lets you do just that.
The ghost cheat is fly combined with noclipping and the walk cheat is to return to normal physics.
Fly and ghost are basically debug movement in a sense.
One irritating glitch is when you randomly fall below the map just by hitting a basketball or another object,or even just landing from a small height such as a rooftop to the ground.
Just tap the onscreen jump button to respawn when this happens.
Would love to see a YouTube video of Goat Simulator on a Fire TV like someone did on a custom OUYA game center.
I hope they do add all of what has already been in the original PC version.
It will need speedups (lags on some devices) and optimization for the larger level size to continue running smoothly.
Joke:Goat Simulator needs RAM!
When you say XBMC is taking up RAM and causes problem for Goat Sim, you mean if you load up Goat Sim thru XBMC right? Or are you saying that when you install XBMC parts of it get loaded when you boot up so have much less memory then if you didn't have it installed?
XBMC is just too much to have open while trying to play a game like Goat Simulator.
It is an entire media center, right?
Goat Simulator will probably take even more memory to run once it gets updated.
I hope they at least get all of the initial first level fully built with the company building and the "F*** The Police" score bonus.
Someone should make an opposite version of XBMC focusing on minimal RAM usage and maximum stability with decent speed.
It would still have a bit of functionality, but would let other apps handle the rest.

Okay, i got ya. Not everyone runs XBMC at the start up, I don't. So if I wanted to play Goat Sim smoothly then I can just reset my AFTV and run Goat Sim first. Wonder if a soft reboot would be enough, probably. Thanks for clarifying it.
Earlier...LOL! I made it crash with a licked object treadmill glitch!
I licked the train and went near the treadmill until I got stuck going into the air with trampoline bonuses adding to it plus other things and back to treadmill.
I went so high up that the music kept restarting and I released the now very distant train which then caused a force close.
Good thing Fire TV's heatsink keeps things smooth and even gradually lowers the CPU temp in a short time by 7 or 8 whole degrees after looking at Kernel Tuner's CPU temp.
Default CPU ondemand governor recommended at the normal clock speeds.
At default CPU and with the basic forced GPU tweak,Goat Simulator runs extremely smooth.
It ran even smoother than the last time I opened it!
I guess the reason others with ANY device can only run it for about 10mins is because they don't have enough free memory.
Having 1.1gb memory left is the best amount besides 1.35gb free memory.
I've played it for hours with no random close ever happenning.
Fire TV still needs a more legit way to get Goat Simulator besides transferring it from a Nexus complete with Fire TV gaming controller support.
Someone just needs to message the devs and ask about it since.
A small part to do is remove the Play Services/G+ data and then the FTV controller mapping.
Also please ask about adding the missing key inputs for normal movement (cursor keys),headbutting and special power on qwerty keyboards.
Maybe they should add an input style select for touch mode and controller/keyboard mode while touch still has the keyboard part intact.
The controller mode would not have the onscreen buttons besides the top left corner buttons.
They will have to figure out navigation via controllers.
Still waiting on Pewdiepie to play this mobile port of Goat Simulator even though there's not as much to do,but new glitching with instant goat mutations.
Either version for Android or IOS.
Still can't get this ****ing game working Tried everything, sadly I can't remove XBMC or I will be divorced.
You know that xbmc is just an app and you an quit it right?
Try getting that memory booster and get to the point where it tells you that you have 1.1gb free memory or near that much.
Also try force stopping all of your listed apps that are not being used at the moment.
I am curious if using "Forced GPU Rendering" has anything to do with my FTV running it perfectly.
Removing XBMC might even make things worse.
XBMC just does not get along with Fire TV all that well.
It is the cause of some bricked FTVs.
Anyone else that actually has it working should reply here telling us what status your FTV is in:
Do you have XBMC or any other similar thing like kodi?
If yes,do you have it opened when successfully running Goat Simulator with proper graphics,or is it closed?
Are you using a RAM/memory boosting app?
If yes, what amount of RAM do you have left before opening Goat Simulator if it shows you?
Please answer most of these so others can figure out why it exits randomly.
Tips:To get it from another device, get it from one with the Adreno GPU or it will not work properly on Fire TV.
Learn how to transfer apps and their data files from a well written guide.
(I wish I knew where one was so I could link it.)
Good luck to others who try to get it working.
Edit:Also,Goat Simulator updated with "bug fixes" and new languages supported.
Not worth updating for me until more content like the fan building is available.
I have my AFTV set up to boot up FiredTV. Since I use it for all sorts of things, I like being able to get to all the various apps.
I don't use a memory app, haven't ran into a problem where I've thought I've needed one.
Game plays fine. All the games I play run fine for the most part. I tend to set graphics up to max possible.
While I don't expect everyone to like gaming on the occasion, there are other apps for the AFTV that are pretty good. I suggest booting up firedtv instead of XBMC and just move the XBMC icon to the first location, so it's a quick click away on boot up. Unless all you use it for is XBMC...

I've had 1.4GB of memory free at one point. XBMC was not running, nor was anything else. Regardless of which version I install...I've installed from the playstore directly on the device about 5 times spoofing 5 different devices with Market Helper with no luck. I've tried installing "other" versions of the APK with no luck. I've tried updating to the latest firmware.....I also get the same result, the game without graphics, regardless of how much free memory/CPU. As per my screenshot in my first post...How is everyone else installing it?
Other users on the Play Store app page have replied with the same issue which makes me think it is getting the wrong version for even faked devices.
Unless none of the ones you faked as match up with Adreno as the GPU.
If you have another device that has an Adreno GPU and can run Goat Simulator on it,you might need to try and transfer to your Fire TV if you can figure out how.
Someone needs to tell the Google Play staff to add a version override that allows you to select the other device versions if yours is supported initially, and also have it tell you what GPU your device has.
That way if you get the wrong version, you can make it get the right one for your device.
Maybe it is one of those cases where it gets corrupted for some reason when downloading it for installing.
Just need to get the developers attention so they might eventually make it directly available to Fire TV.

[ROM] ROMs Comparison

The threads on custom ROMS are generating lots of posts.
Some questions are asked multiple times, some are never answered (because lost in the flow)... making it hard to take a clear decision about with custom ROM to flash, if any at all.
Thus, I'd like to use this thread to discuss about the "pros and cons" of each method, or rather the "possibilities and limitations" of them.
For the moment, this would include the three following ROM:
- The stock ROM (the one you get which your fresh Shield TV)
- The StockRestyle 3.0 ROM, provided by @zulu99, see the thread here
- The Full Android Marshmallow ROM, provided by @zulu99, see the thread here
The goal is not to encourage you to go in one or the other directions, but to provide objective arguments. This is why I wrote "possibilities and limitations" are preferred to "pros and cons"
Please comment in this thread, and I'll update the following posts regularly.
1) The stock ROM
Link to Nvidia Open Source Resources and Drivers here
No operation required, this is the standard ROM already installed on the Shield TV -> Just Plug and Play!
Shield TV game controller and remote fully working wireless (Wifi-Direct), including Voice search, and headset plug.
Can play Nvidia specialized games - Doom 3/Metal Gear Solid/Android based or Geforce Now streamed.
Play store limited to Leanback-compatible apps (Shield TV runs Android TV)
- Thus, the number of compatible apps is limited (also due to the absence of touchscreen, obviously)
- Some apps cannot be installed at all, or cannot be run properly
Standard applications (not available as Leanback-compatible apps, e.g. web-browser...) can/need be sideloaded
- By defalt, sideloaded apps don't appear in the standard Home menu
- Sideloaded apps can be started using Sideload Launcher or Apk2tv
Standard applications can also be installed directly from Play store using Market Helper. NOTE: this requires root access.
Keyboard and Trackpad devices do not produce too much efficiency due to rom limitations
Unability to use a remote desktop
Apps related
No web brower installed, but Chrome (or others) can be sideloaded.
Skype for Leanback isn't working: calling buttons cannot be selected, no video call button.
Kodi can be installed. It allows you to stream content directly to your TV
To be checked:
Amazon fire TV 4K remote and game controlled can be paired using the Shield Accessories tool. (Works on the StockRestyle)
2) The StockRestyle 3.0 ROM
Link to the thread here
Requires to flash the ROM. The process is rather simple, but as always to avoid risks you should know what you are doing. Reading carefully the main post of the thread related to this ROM, and at least the last comments and those from zulu99 is recommended.
Full Play store available (access to more games. Yet, touchscreen-only games cannot be played with a game controller)
Aptoide TV filters apps that are compatible with Android TV. For example, for Skype, the standard Aptoide app provides the last version of Skype (6.26 for the moment, which is not working on this ROM), while Aptoide TV provides the version 6.15.
Shield TV game controller globally working
- Some issues reported with the new version of the game controller: Home and Back buttons not working well.
- Voice search button first starts Google search, a second press (not a double press) starts Voice search
The Nova interface is designed for touch and/or mouse and/or keyboard actions
- Most of the interface can be used using a remote or a game controller
- But, the configuration often requires a mouse (or at least, is faster to use with a mouse)
- A wireless all-in-one keyboard is a good device to use with, e.g. Logitech K400 Plus (others are good too, but this one is battery-friendly)
Web browser usable in full desktop mode, e.g. Chrome (without ads if you download adaway, root required)
Multitasking may look limited. Yet, you can use Alt-Tab on the keyboard to switch between apps
No Android Navigation (softkeys) or Status Bar (e.g. You do not get to see notifications/download progress/etc)
Amazon fire TV 4K remote and game controlled can be paired using the Shield Accessories tool. They won't appear in the list of connected devices, but they are working well, including microphone.
It may feel like a bit of a strange mix, not really remote-friendly, but not really full Android capable either. However, this is the only know solution to keep the proprietary tools from NVidia working while having a standard Android interface.
Apps related
Skype 6.14 and 6.15.x are fully working, i.e. audio and video calls, using UVC webcams (tried with Logitech C920 and C930)
Some easy fixes
Settings App: First step after install - Go to Widgets> Nova Activity and selecting Settings app so that is shows up on desktop
Remote/Controller Friendly Navigation in the App-Drawer: Nova-launcher setting for App-Drawer needs to changed from Vertical to Horizontal
Foreign external keyboard can be remapped using one of the many apps available
- External Keyboard Helper Pro is working well in my case: Android interface in English (US), external keyboards in German (QWERTZ, Logitech K400 Plus and Logitech K830). You can try the demo version for free. PS: I'm not linked in anyway to the developers of this app.
3) The Full Android Marshmallow ROM
Link to the thread here
Requires to flash the ROM. The process is rather simple, but as always to avoid risks you should know what you are doing. Reading carefully the main post of the thread related to this ROM, and at least the last comments and those from zulu99 is recommended.
Smooth, fast, responsive ROM
Full Play store available, more standard applications should be compatible
Leanback only applications can also be launched using an tweak tool: QuickShortcutMaker (see video here)
Shield TV game controllers not working wireless (using Wifi-Direct) but working as normal a standard gamepad when connected via USB
Shield TV remote control working (using Bluetooth), including audio. [Confirmed here]
Long-term update is questionable because it depends only on the person who is providing this ROM (even though this person is very active)
To be checked or confirmed by several users
Some slower performance (frame rates) in games from stock-restyle (feedback based on Rom ver. 1.0, not sure about 1.1) [Mentioned here]
- This could indeed be a counterpart of all what is running in the background of full Android (see here). In others words, full Android is more general in the sense it offers more possibilities, but at the same time it cannot be expert in all those aspects. Thus Android purist would prefer to go for this ROM while Nvidia gamers may prefer to stay on the Stock or StockRestyle ROMs. In the end, YOU make the final choice.

You could possibly add another or include as an option to #1.
Stock Rooted with Market Helper (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146216) device spoofer or the other hack.

It is quiet in here. I was interested in seeing some responses. Maybe an anonymous poll.
If I had more time, less family, less places to fish I would run 3 boxes and compare them all. I would always need to have one that is stock and family friendly for the wife and the kids.
When i bought mine a month ago I was hoping there was more community support but it may take more time to catch on. Luckily Zulu gives us two options to toy with. They work pretty good. Statistically speaking and I could be wrong, About 90% of the people making a purchase like this just want to plug and play and have no desire to tweak or tinker. I know this because out of the 6 in my family I am the only one that even thinks "can I root it?" when I am researching it. The rest of my family just want to plug and play. They want simple.
As for me I want it to over-clock, play games without CDs (Wii<family loved this but I have a tone of unwrapped games> and xBox with external HDDs), aging my self here play a game using two 5 1/4" floppy drives with all files working on 2 disks instead of 6 disks(AD&D SSI games), running android on my tilt 2 slide out keyboard sell phone, I could go on.
I really hope development picks up. I only wish I could help more. I do encourage Zulu and others to continue.

I was also hoping for more feedback.
Indeed, the last few weeks I was struggling to find the best ROM that would suit my need. After reading the 200+ pages of post in the thread of the ROM proposed by @zulu99, I had hard time to extract the right information.
Thus, the idea of this post: I want to present objective points of comparison, I have no apps to sell.
The point is also to avoid the post like "Which ROM should I pick?". If the advantages and limitations are clearly listed, everyone should be able to make his/her own decision, all ROMs are good, it only depends on what you want to do with it.
PS: In my case, I wanted to 1) keep the Nvidia Shield TV game controllers (and my Fire TV 4K remote and game controllers), and 2) to have Skype working. Thus, my final choice for the StockRestyle ROM.
Mythamp's Review of the Roms
Stock Rom
Pros:
1. Ideal for basic 4K TV owners who want to stream all current channels of 4K content
2. Can play Nvidia specialized games - Doom 3/Metal Gear Solid/Android based or Geforce Now streamed
3. Remote and Controller work great
4. Kodi allows you to stream content directly to your TV
Cons:
1. Small selection of Android TV Apps
2. Browsers and Non-Android TV apps need to be side-loaded
3. Cannot install most Non-Android TV apps
4. Keyboard and Trackpad devices do not produce too much efficiency due to rom limitations
5. Unable to remote desktop into the device incase you wish to send remote instructions to download content so that you can come home and enjoy.
Overall:
The Stock Rom is unable to take advantage of Android. It is a cumbersome process for people who like quick responses. I would say it is as limited as any other 4k TV's with Android built-in apart from a few Nvidia games. Trust me, this does not justify the $150 investment.
Stock-Restyle Rom
Pros:
1. All of the pros of Stock Rom including full controller and remote support plus
2. Install unlimited Android Apps taking full advantage of the Google Play Store
For Example:
• Use "Airdroid" app (root required) to remote mirror your device from work and have all the content ready when you get home.
• Play thousands of Android games on your 4k TV
• Use Chrome in full desktop mode (root required) without ads (download adaway) - almost as good as a desktop Chrome. Great for quick browsing.
3. Less cumbersome to move around by using a Keyboard with Trackpad (I personally use the "Logitech K400 Plus")
Cons:
1. Multitasking may look limited - yet you can use Alt-Tab on the keyboard to switch between apps
2. Many Android apps (mostly games) require touch, which can be done using android mobile device with Droidmote installed. Some games can be played using the Keyboard/Trackpad combo but its a hit & miss.
3. No Android Navigation (softkeys) or Status Bar (Eg. You do not get to see notifications/download progress/etc)
4. It is technically not a Full/Clean Android as it has Nvidia's framework still builtin
5. Some easy fixes FYI
• Settings App: First step after install - Go to Widgets> Nova Activity and selecting Settings app so that is shows up on desktop
• Remote/Controller Friendly Navigation: Nova-launcher setting for App-Drawer needs to changed from Vertical to Horizontal
Overall:
The Stock-Restyle Rom is in my opinion the best rom for the Nvidia Shield TV. It opens the device to all the Android & Google Play Store goodie-ness, while allowing you to use the fantastic shield controller and remote to play/stream all nvidia and some android games. I have also personally found that android games run smoother on this rom than on the Full Android Rom (Maybe its because the rom is based on the nvidia framework, I could be wrong.)
Bottomline - install this rom before trying the rest.
Full Android Marshmallow Rom
Pros:
1. Amazingly smooth, fast, responsive rom
2. You get the full Android experience
3. Includes all the pros of the above Roms
Cons:
1. No support for Nvidia controller wirelessly, you can use it by plugging in the cable and installing keyboard drivers
2. Noticed some slower performance (framerates) in games from stock-restyle (feedback based on Rom ver. 1.0, not sure about 1.1)
Overall:
The Full Android Marshmallow Rom is a great solution for Android purists. You will miss-out on the seamless (wireless) experience of playing all the Nvidia/Android Games. If someone can get the wireless controllers to work here, I will be the first one to shift over from stock-restyle rom.
- This is just my opinion on the roms based on my usage, I am sure many users have their unique needs which might not match my feedback, so please take all this with an open mind -

Stock, StockRestyle and full Android, on the gaming part, more precisly on Accelerated 3D Graphics, have the exact same components. Are Identical.
I extract this part from stock firmware and are Nvidia proprietary blob. ( every developer can compare the files )
Every Nvidia exclusive games are working on all 3 firmwares in the same way.
But in full Android you can have also more normal games compatible in addition to all Nvidia exclusive games.
Also for Audio and hardware video decode the 3 firmwares have the same components.
There is only one, very important difference between the 3 firmwares. Only full Android have the full Android framework, permissions and components and in the real life you can translate this as more compatibility with millions apps in Google Play. For the present and for the future.
just to be precise.
P.S.
But attention, don't forget that if you run Windows XP on a modern PC, for sure is faster than Windows 10. Why ? Because Windows 10 have more things.
I think that Android TV is not comparable with full Android for the simple reason that Android TV is a stripped down version of full Android.
But if you don't need everything that Android can offer, you can use also Android TV.
Another fact, very simple, is:
If you want everything that Android can offer on TV, a controller or a remote with only directional keys are not sufficient. And if you prefer only directional keys, you will have barriers, limitations and slow interaction forever. Instead if you use a better input device you can have also a full OS on TV that for me is better, because i can do things of both worlds.
It all depends on what you use and what you know, the most important fact is that you can choose.
Great thread, I'm just trying to decide which to install on my Shield when amazon delivers it.
I'm really thinking of using Full Android but have bought the nvidia remote control too (mainly for the audio jack). So..
Is the Shield remote working or not on Full Android (is it bluetooth or works like the controller?). Can anyone point it out, please? Thank you!

The remote works for me sometimes but I usually end up ditching it because it is a pain. Sometimes I can pause a show and walk away. Sometimes it does not. I am not sure if it is loosing sync or not.
Voice does not work. Volume control is iffy. It does pause videos with the volume slider on occasion. When I hit the home button it will sometimes go there. It has become useless to me. I am glad it was free.
My issues probably do not reflect the ROM(full android) but I remember it working when ever I picked it up on stock android. I am just not ready to go back.

Maybe again an issue with the version of the remote or game controller.
I noticed that on the StockRestyle, the old version of the game controller was working perfect while the new version had issues with the Home, Back and Search buttons (both using the same firmware update).
Might it be the same with the remote? Is there an old version (with Home button represented by a house).
See the difference for the game controllers:
Version 1, this model is still the one you get when bought separately.

I don't know if there was a "version 1" of the remote, I cannot find any trace of it.
But, since they change the design of the Home button to be a circle only on the V2 of the game controller, and that it's the same as the V2 of the remote, it wouldn't be surprising if there was a V1 of the remote with similar symbol as the V1 of the game controller.
@zulu99, which remote do you have?
Love this thread guys as I've been considering another ROM but didn't know the clear pros and cons of Full Android and now this ReStyle one which I'm very interested in. I have a few questions for anyone. Perhaps the answers could gain momentum for many others as you guys are absolutely right that AndroidTV's app selection isn't just lacking, it feels like AndroidTV apps exist and the consumers want them, but the interface for getting them or allowing users to simply inform specific developers the demand to support it is insanely behind. On the desktop play store you can't even sort or filter Android TV apps other than seeing these two specific links unless an active user is seeking blogs or postings regarding them.
Apps for Android TV
Games for Android TV
Gotta vent a bit the already known... feel free to skip down...
On the stock play store, you can search for apps but not having even top charts or proper categories other than the useless 'featured' in addition to strong limitations is hurting as a whole. Some of the biggest brands out there have no or heavily limited apps for ATV, including even many tv channels like TNT or ESPN. I think Nvidia or Google for the time being should at least allow the detection of a mouse and keyboard to least show apps that 'might work' rather than none and give the user the option to control that. Hopefully Android N will improve things with the Picture in Picture and maybe even DVR abilities. Love this box but even though Android is a strength, it's also a weakness in the shade of a very sensitive cycle. More users --> More developers thus more apps --> More users --> More developers --> etc... I feel like the users are there, but while developers are increasingly aware, it should grow faster, and Google should help that awareness.
Anyways my questions were:
1) Does HDMI-CEC still work? Currently in stock it works in turning on the tv and with the tv on its Source Input, off with tv, and controlled by tv remote but not with volume (shield remote controlling tv volume).
2) Any loss of functionality with Casting? More specifically I usually cast from Youtube, Plex, Google Photos, and Mirror Casting from Nexus phone.
3) Any loss of 4K support, including Youtube, Plex, VLC, MXPlayer, or hopefully introduction of HDR support (doesn't work natively on Shield perhaps because of the HDMI 2.0a not yet being implemented). I'm interested in keeping Full dynamic range and ability to toggle 4K 60 and 4K 24fps along with Plex (with Refresh Rate Switching for native 24fps support in 60 mode). So I guess along with this can AndroidTV specific apps still be installed or will the phone/tablet versions be installed instead? Example: Plex.
4) Is Adoptable storage still supported? I'm guessing when flashing the StockRestyle ROM we'll have to wipe the adoptable sdcard and essentially factory reset.
5) Can AptoideTV work just fine on stock? I'm going to probably try it tomorrow
While I personally don't play any of the Nvidia games, I'm looking to have the Stock Stability + current emulator/rom support (rooting for Wiimote support) + specific apps that are not supported on AndroidTV without having to constantly manually update them through sideloading. Apps I'm interested in include Google Apps including Google Photos + Logitech Webcam supported (Skype + Hangouts + FB Messenger) and possibly Amazon Prime Video but ideally if it can support at least 1080p or 4K. I also use Kodi but am still learning to use it.
I'm very familiar with modding on my Nexus 6P (TWRP, root, Xposed, with monthly updates) so was wondering if there was anything different I should know other than the obvious loss of a screen when adding custom recovery and rooting along with Nandroid backups. Has any one successfully backed up their stock ROM and restored it later? Also anyone root stock, then backup everything on Titanium Backup (sideloaded) and restore apps + data on StockRestyle ROM?
My set up is 16GB Shield Stock 3.0 not rooted yet + Samsung 128GB Pro+ microsdxc + Stock Controller + Remote, it's connected to a Samsung 4K SUHD UN65JS8500. Also using bluetooth Logitech keyboard + mouse, xbox 360 receiver, x360 controllers. Still waiting for possible DVB-S2 integration and maybe live tv solutions like silicondust.

I'm curious about this too. I like the idea of the shield basically replacing my chromecast, but with Full Android it looks like you can't cast TO it, but you can cast IT'S display like any other phone or tablet. Is it possible in full android to cast another device TO the shield with full android?

Other s912 device,I think the mecool bb2 is better. It's cheaper than r box from some online store such as geekbuying
Mine just arrived. From Geekbuying. The top side was scratched I assume this is duo the fact that they probably opened it to fix the issues at the factory. EDIT: Lol apparently it's a protector thingie. Kinda strange that it didn't peel off when I first tried<.<
It has 11GB free from the 16GB
No setup page.
The menu is kinda retarded, you have the default android settings menu and you have an "mediabox menu" that has the same settings but just show less.
2.7GB RAM available according the settings.
You can uninstall the ****ty apps that are included (beside system apps)
It has by default root.
Looks like the light is blue while booted and red while suspended.
And for the love of god some one link me to a proper wifi remote<.< so I can use my phone instead of the default app that doesn't even have qwerty in it.

My R-Box has currently a ROM issue. My R-Box froze up so I had to power cycle it down and up again but that apperently broke it. Waiting for their support to respond on how to solve it.

I have configured the Kodi player to use the pre-installed TVHeadend PVR plugin to access free to air TV channels, but the play back is pretty poor - I cannot even view the HD channels due to buffering issues, and SD channels are very stuttery.
The unit is connected with a 1000-BaseT GBit wired network. Using a Raspberry Pi 3 running the same version of Kodi under LibreElec gives a much better response - HD and SD work flawlessly.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or an Android one - does anyone have any ideas?
BTW MPEG-TS is the Transport-Stream version of MPEG4, and is the underlying standard used by DVB-T and DVB-S for free to air TV.
R-box pro 3gb faulty 1 day old
yesterday i received my R BOX 3gb and i have problems with it already
1 ) i noticed the boot up animation is jerky and audio stutters and does not play smooth
2) the RJ45 ethernet socket is a poor fit you have to be gentle pluging the cable in because you can push it too far into the socket then you will lose internet connection i have tried numerous other cables with the same results
3) The lighting effect when red (standby) the light is very dim and flickers it is obvious that there is somthing wrong with the box i have been sent

I got my r box pro 3g/16g couple days ago and I'm very satisfied, but that is my first android tv box and have nothing to compare with.
Bought it from Aliexpress, paid around 71euro with shipping, arrived in Serbia in 30 days.
First thing I've done is factory reset, then replaced kodi 17 alpha with 16.1 stable version, my opinion is that 16.1 working better then 17 alpha.
Didn't try everything that this little thing can do, but what I've tried worked ok. I tried chrome, youtube, kodi, installed couple apps from playstore (not games), wireless transfer from pc to box, box to pc, from/to phone, connect wireless mouse... Kodi works good, no buffering issues like with some people.
Blue led stripe around box can be turned off, on navbar there is light bulb icon so you can turn off/on the light.
When the box is suspended, the light is red, but there is no light when it's shut down. In settings there is option what power button do, suspend or shut down. I choose shut down, the box need around 45 seconds to fully boot up, so that's ok.
In settings there is an option Backup&Update, but OTA not working, it cannot connect to OTA server, known bug for everyone. But, there is another option, WirelessUpdate, I'm not sure what that option update, apps or firmware. I click on it, it say "update detected" and I confirmed that I want to update now. It download and execute update. Version of the firmware is 20161018, but unfortunately I didn't remember version before update, so can't say if it changed.
About firmware, I found yesterday on the net new version, 20161118 (flashable with pc), but didn't try it yet. Be aware, there is two different boards inside r box pro, q6330 and q9377, if you mix up the firmware the wifi and bluetooth won't work or the box won't boot. I have q9377. Install Cpu-z from playstore to see version of the board.
One strange thing, I wanted to check the price on Ali yesterday, but surprise, there is no sellers who sell r box pro, and there was 10-15 at least one month ago... Why, I don't know.
One thing that didn't work for me, I try to connect box to tv without hdmi port. The box have tv out, the cable didn't came in the package but I have it, from some old camcorder. The cable have 4-pin 3,5mm jack on one side and 3 chinch connectors (white, red, yellow) on the other. When I plug it there is no picture, just mono sound. I think that is not box fault, but the cable, wrong pinout.
This is my review of the R-box PRO 3G/16G, if someone want to share their experience, it would be nice. Cheers!
My R-Box with Q6330 with updated firmware is running smoothly with krypton 17 kodi no problems i have the latest firmware and the prg to burn the sdcard for update if someone want it its 13/10-2016 firmware (latest for q6330)
Has anyone had problems with the latest netflix app on these devices. Mine stopped working completely, always giving me a network error. Even if I use the new download feature, I cannot play the file as it reports a file error. The same account running the same app version on my phone works just fine. I've had to factory reset and not upgrade the netflix.
Blue led stripe around box can be turned off, on navbar there is light bulb icon so you can turn off/on the light.
Where did you see that ? Can you make a screenshot for me please
Of course, no problem.
Here is a picture of navbar, first icon is small lightbulb.
When you click on it, blue light is turned off, when click again, blue light turn on.
