Decrypt SDCard Data post bootloop errror - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
Recently my phone went into boot loop error which was fixed by LG replacing the motherboard. All my data is backed up on my SD card. However it was encrypted by my G4 prior going in for boot loop error. Now when i try to put the same SD card with the data my G4 cannot decrypt the files even though i'm using the same passcode that i used before. The SD card contians some last pictures of my dad who passed away couple of months back and hence i'm desperate to decrypt the data on my sd card.
Can anyone help me with any suggestions or alternatives to fix this issue?
Thank you for your time.
Cheers

Blank SD card error after root, was working fine...please help!

I just fully rooted my phone to the OTA 1.32.651.6 last night and everything was working fine. I completed a nandroid backup, updated the radio, and followed everything to a T. I haven't had any issues with my sd card until a few minutes ago when I shut my phone off and turned it back on. Now I am getting a blank SD card error and it is telling me I have to format the card. I don't understand why it was working after I rooted and now all of a sudden it is not. I even did another nandroid backup earlier today. Any help on fixing this would be appreicated.
Thanks
I just got home and tried another 8gb sd card and my phone reads it just fine, so it's not the phone. Looks like somehow my SD card got corrupted during the restart. I tried putting my original card in a reader on my computer but in both mac os and windows, it is telling me I need to format the card in order to read it. Is there any other ways you can think of to get my data off of it? Also, since I am in root, is there any files you think I should put back on my memory card if my original one can't be saved?
Can anybody help?
Mine is doing the same thing. A few days after putting the latest Fresh on my phone it suddenly told me that my sd card dismounted and now needs to be formated. Trouble is the phone won't format it and it won't let me do it from my computer. I'm trying to find out what's going on but I don't know that there's anyway to salvage the data. My phone did this once before and I couldn't save anything which sucked, but it still formated the sd card. I'll report back if I find anything.

[Help needed!] Cant' mount sd card - dev/block/

Hey guys, today morning i got a problem with my desire. the screen was black and there was no possibility to turn it on.
I restarted my desire and got stuck in boot loop.
So I wanted to restore my backup but everytime the recovery tries to mount the sd card it says "E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1"
and "E:can't find /sdcard/update.zip"
I also tried to mount my sdcard with a cardreader but neither windows 7 nor XP recognize my sd card.
So is it possible that my card is broken, if so that wouldn't be as bad as having a broken phone.
I would apreciate any help!
Thank you
I had this same problem after I tried to answer a call my phone reset and went into a boot loop, I went into recovery which seemed really slow for some reason and the phone would not see the memory card, so I removed battery and left the phone off for ten min's and then tried again and all was well again.
unfortunitely, even after half an hour without battery, it keeps on saying can't mount /dev/block
I guess my sdcard is broken, could that be?
Does it say "Invalid Argument"? If you have a linux system, try and format/overwrite the card (using dd if you can) and you'll see a "short write" error - your card is broken unfortunately. Mine did the same only this weekend
I too have the same problem, but I think mine is way worst!!
I've tried with 2 different sd cards, and I still get the "E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1" and "E:can't find /sdcard/update.zip" error.
If anyone knows a solution...
I just bought a new sdcard...and after doing the whole rooting process again, it works fine! so my problem was probably a broken sdcard. I just wonder how that could happen...didn't touch anything.
Thank you guys
I hope for everyone who has the same problem that a new sdcard fixes the problem
I think it was just age. The one that failed a few days ago for me, was over a year old (I would have thought it should last longer than that).
I know this is an old post, but I had issues with this today and I managed to solve it, I just want to share what I've done, it may be useful for somebody.
I formatted my SD with a 1gb ext4 partition and 7gb fat 32 partition. I put everything back to the fat32 partition but my rom didn't boot up, so I tried to enter recovery and I got the can't mount sd card error.
I just deleted my partition and created a whole fat32 partition, no ext. After that I could use the update.zip with no issues. Updated my ROM, used ROM manager to create the ext partition and now everything is fine.
edit: I'm not sure, but maybe you need to label the partition as sdcard.

[Q] Problem with Note 2 encryption

Hi I recently encrypted my phone and SD card.
Everything worked fine until i connected it to my mac and was using Kies to copy a folder over to the SD card. It was a i.39 GB folder, while copying the phone suddenly restarted and when it resytarts its usualy asks for password to unencrypt the device and SD card.
While adding the password which was the correct one as i used it before, it kept asking me to try again as if the password was wrong. I tried it many times and in the end after 10 tries the phone erased all the data and restarted with factory reset.
The prtoblem is now all my images, pics, videos are all loked...i can see them but cannot open any tfile which was on the SD card.
is there a way i can unencrypt it...Please help!!!!

Anyone else had SD card go corrupt and resulting issues? I'm stuck and need help gett

hey,
i hope this is a good place for this. let me know. I posted in Viper thread and TWRP. I'm desperately seeking answers because I'm stuck now with low functionality and trouble restoring system image... Read on...
i have Viper10 4.4.0, and i have a 128gb MicroSD card as internal storage. Well this card just bit the dust, i lost everything on it. That's ok cus it was backed up, but I am still having problems, so i am guessing the Viper ROM / system doesnt like that the card is gone. it's corrupted i suppose.*
Before i bought a replacement card, i tried using my camera. "please insert an SD card" - so it couldnt adapt to the card being gone? there were other similar things but thats a good example. So i bought another card, class 3, so its fast. i formatted it as internal storage, and still got the same message in the camera!
Another example is I cannot download anything in Chrome - whether I have no card, new card as internal storage, or new card as removable storage - none of those will work.
So i thought it must be time to restore TWRP that system image i made while back. i pasted my backup onto the SD card, went to TWRP to restore, and TWRP didn't even see any files on the card. So, i reformatted to removable storage, pasted, went to TWRP. did restore > my system backup. It said "select partition" but it didnt allow me to select anything, nor did it initially show anything selected. so the backup initiates but stops and complains "no partition selected."
can you advise me at all? is the system image restore what i need to do, and if so, what do i do about the partition selection?
Any other ways I can get back to stock?
thanks!

Can't read SD Card from bootlooping G4 (on Windows/repaired phone)

I got the dreaded bootloop two weeks ago, but I didn't think this should affect data on my SD card. However I cannot read it in Windows. I've just got my repaired phone back and booted with the SD card in (phone has been factory reset of course) and I just got a notification saying "SD card is corrupt. Touch to fix" and it takes you to format SD card.
Just wanted to check the SD card really is toast or is it somehow locked to the original install or my google account somehow and I can still get the data off somehow?

Have you selected adoptable storage in settings? This means extending your internal storage with sd card space.
If yes no chance. The sdcard gets encrypted when doing so and you can access it only from within android.

No that wasn't how I formatted it. Oh well, not too worried about it as Google photos backed up everything I really wanted from it.

Ok what i did on my wifes. If u have even a old cheapy rooted device. Format the card but dont save anything on it yet or ypu will start writing over old data marked for deletion I use disk digger pro. It can recover most of ure pictures some movies and music. The larger the files harder it is to recover. I know its not a surefire method to save all but i was able to pull 800 of 850 pics and movies of my wife sd that kept corrupting. As long as u do a quik format. And dont write over any of the card. The datA is on the marked for delete side. But is techñichly still there. Do not to full format. Will replace the data with loads of 1$ and0$. And the data will be gone forever.
