TWRP changelog : Here
Working/Bugs : Lemme knoe if anything broken
Please do read the installation guide note !
IMPORTANT NOTE :
1. At first boot twrp will ask for "Swipe to allow modifications for /system" and if you choose to allow it system partition will get modified. So if you choose to reboot back to OS without performing anything in twrp, the OS won't boot (as verity check is enabled in stock OS/kernel) . To avoid this you have to flash either SuperSU or flash any of the verity disabler zips there in xda
2. Encryption is enabled by default
3. If in case decryption doesn't go fine, twrp will popup a dialog box asking for password and that means decryption went wrong and you would need to wipe data once via twrp wipe options and reboot back to twrp for functioning of /data
Installation Guide :
1. Make sure you have unlocked bootloader
2. Reboot to bootloader
3. fastboot flash recovery twrp-xxxx.img (if you want permanent flash) or
fastboot boot twrp-xxxx.img (if you want temporary boot)

You can use it for N or O. No issues.

It says encryption is enabled!
Does that mean the problem where in the custom recovery couldn't mount anything when the device was encrypted, is solved with this??
Earlier I did need to do a factory reset from the stock recovery and then do anything on TWRP.

Oreo roms always says Encrypted but I've never noticed true encryption.

No not this one! I am talking about the situation when i encrypt the phone! Once the phone is encrypted the custom recovery fails to read /data.. which leads to no flashing or anything else, until i factory reset the device via stock recovery!
I will try it out anyway!

Thanks brother! I can confirm it works perfectly on device protected with encryption !!

Sorry i couldn't understand the first important note. Will i lose data if i allow system modifications? As far as i remembered this option also shows on previous versions and ive always given permission to modify. Is this the same?

Unless you do anything to system (for eg :wipe) allowing system modifications will not harm.

No offense, but there's already an official 3.1.1 version of TWRP out there... https://dl.twrp.me/athene

The official version can't use some Motorola configurations because their politics. TWRP unofficial can use that configurations, allowing to decrypt and encrypt /data. In summary, unofficial is better.

I think I can't format /data with F2FS. The option doesn't appear in TWRP.

INSTRUCTIONS
From fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
From TWRP:
- Install>Flash Image>"Select the recovery to flash">Swipe To flash>Reboot Recovery
NOTE: If the recovery asks you for a password, you have to erase the /data partition. So press "Cancel" and then Wipe>Format Data>"yes" to fully decrypt your phone. Note that a decrypted phone will boot more faster and will improve the FS speed.
THIS WILL ERASE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE
F.A.Q
Q: Can i flash MIUI ROMS with this recovery?
A: Yes, you can. If you flash an official MIUI ROM, you have to flash Magisk or Boot Image Patcher too, to disable the dm-verity and forced encryption.
Q: Can i flash custom ROMS with this recovery?
A: Yes, you can. This recovery is Oreo ready too.

As i know , PsyMan said in the thread that when you install the official rom you need to flash either Magisk either Boot Image Patcher for it to boot.
Hi, this twrp version asks for a password (for decrypt purpose) ; why ? There was no password prompted in 3.1.0.0 .. My Mi Note 2 is not encrypted and obviously I don't want to format /data.

Then flash 3.1.1 again and problem solved. Also , your data is password protected and everytime you start your rom it has to take some time to "unlock" your data partition. This way , if you format woth the new twrp, you will have a great increase in bootup speed.

Let me see if I understand, I need to flash magisk and also boot imagen patcher? Where can I get this last one (boot imagen patcher) and it has to be done after flashing the ROM without restarting it?

One of them . I recommend Magisk , don't really know which boot image patcher should we install.

I have the same problem

I can't install any custom ROM

I have bootloader unlocked and TWRP 3.2 installed.
Normally most ROM's are not finished installing always stuck in patching system image unconditionally.
LineageOS 14.1 it was installed but the screen was black with the blue LED on.
I have the stock S251 firmware version of P2a42 with Lenovo P2c72 model.
I tried to format data to EXT4 but doesn't work.

What version of Android are/were you on ? You need to be on at least Android 7 S244 to be able to flash LOS 14.1.
What I'd suggest you to do is flash the stock ROM all over again. See this. I have the c72 version myself and I've never encountered the issue you mentioned.

Yes, I installed 5. P2a42_S244_170725_ROW_fastboot.7z manually through fastboot and updated later to S251 through OTA. LineageOS 14.1 it is and example, which ROMs works for you? I am looking a Android 8 Oreo custom ROM. Do you have to change partion data to EXT4 or something else? I thought it was because I have the C72 version.

I've tried most of the ROMs here and they all work.
I had the same issue while trying to install new AOSiP 8.1 rom, I have unlocked bootloader, latest TWRP but now I am stuck with this error:
failed to mount /data device or resource busy
I cannot install any rom nor wipe data anymore. Stuck on LENOVO blue logo with the android with the lock in the belly! Help please!
PS: I can reboot to fastboot or TWRP
EDIT: i solved the issue rebooting twice from TWRP to TWRP again and making it permanent on the system, now rom is doing first boot.
Thanks, I always making permanent but apparently it was not enough. Now it's working. Probably I only need to boot TWRP through buttons instead of using fastboot commands to making permanent.

Dirty Unicorns stuck on boot screen; Oneplus 5t with TWRP

I installed TWRP using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3704592
I then wiped the phone (Cleared Dalvic, Cache, Data, etc...) to do a clean install, installed the rom along with a Gapps package (https://www.teamandroid.com/2018/03/04/install-gapps-android-81-oreo-roms/)
I installed the dirty unicorns rom with du_dumpling-v12.5.3-20181109-2330-OFFICIAL.zip form thier download page, and it has been trying to boot for an hour.

Are you encrypted?
If you are, you need to decrypt for DU on the 5T – format data via TWRP (but backup your internal storage first as this will be wiped too).

Nothing Changed
Followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/guide-how-to-decrypt-data-partition-t3642144

Exactly the same on boot. [I looked for a 5t version of noverity, but didn't find anything.]

Wiping data isn't enough, you need to format it:
TWRP > Wipe > Format data (but like I said before, backup your internal storage first as this will be wiped too).
@Zackptg5's Universal DM-Verity, ForceEncrypt Disabler works with DU on the 5T
I've always done: DU, GApps, DM-Verity ForceEncrypt Disabler, Magisk - no need to flash Magisk first to get a boot.img backup as it's in the DU zip.

Install instructions:
1. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik
2. Mount system and vendor than flash the Rom
3. Boot system (maybe bootloops once)
4. Complete setup
5. Reboot to recovery and mount system and vendor
6. Flash OOS_dipper-reboot-fix (wipes your internal storage when you aren't logged in your Google account)
Workarounds:
Bluetooth fix:
To get Bluetooth on, you have sometimes to tap on Bluetooth, lock your display and unlock it after some seconds. If it's still doesn't go on you have to repeat this some times.
Or you use the Terminal to activate Bluetooth
Face unlock fix:
Flash Face unlock patch from here, go to settings/security/smart lock and choose Face unlock
Recommendations:
•Oxy-ify magisk module for some missing OOS Apps
•Aether for substratum to tweak the quick settings
•Recommended GCam
What´s working:
Almost everything
Bugs:
•Double tap to wake doesn´t work
•Turn Bluetooth on can be a little bit tricky but it works
•Vibration works for notifications, etc. but not for haptic
feedback
•Fingerprint unlock only works with activated display
•IR camera
•Maybe more
