USB type C cables and chargers - Google Pixel 2 XL Accessories

This will be my first usb type c device. I'm sure a lot of you are upgrading from the original pixel. Can you guys recommend cables and chargers that you have used that you liked? I'm sure there are a bunch of people in my situation it can help to stock up on this stuff before the phone comes. And yes I know there is a list of approved cables, etc.

I'd look at Anker or Aukey for chargers. They should have a couple PD-2 chargers. They also sell the required cables.
The Pixel 2 XL will come with cables and a charger in the box though.

Thanks. I know it comes with some. Just trying to figure out work, bedroom, etc.

Make sure the cables you buy have a 56k ohm resistor.

I have followed this info on cables and chargers. Great information.

How does one read posts on google +? Left to right? I have a hard time with it.

Purchase via Amazon or store, whichever you prefer. It's the one that charges the phone rapidly with Power Delivery.

I would never get a cheap Chinese/no name version. From what I've read, if it doesn't have a 56ohm resistor, it has damaged phones.
You can also check on Amazon and read reviews from those who have purchased. Not worth saving a few bucks to potentially damage your $900+ phone.

I've never seen a EU version. I could be wrong. You can just the US version and get a plug converter.

If its OEM, I don't think there will be any issues. I'm sure people may have multiple USB-C items and I'm sure these news outlet and reviewers have multiple USB-C cables and plugs that they just use the same one over and over.

DO not get any usb c cable/charger so many of them don't follow the standards
Only get one that has been tested
bad cables and charger in best case can charge slowly
in worst case can damage the phone or explode
follow https://plus.google.com/collection/s0Inv
and only use good cables
from the top of my head, the good ones are from

As far as I can tell, Benson Leung finds issues with every Aukey product he reviews. I'm contemplating the BlitzWolf BW-S10, as I've had no issues with the BW-S5 or BW-CB3, and their reputation appears to be clean. The supplied cable is USB-C to USB-C, right?

I wonder if you'd want the USB Wall Charger 2.1A - Black. I can't tell from the description if the one you linked is only going to deliver .5A to the phone.
This Wall Charger has two USB A female ports, one on each side, and provides a total of 1A of charging power.
Click to collapse
So if you only plug a cable into one side is it going to send the full 1A through that cable or is it only going to send .5A which would be a slower charge. The SG3 is listed in the description for the 2.1A charger.
Monoprice cables are great. I use them with my chargers. I don't have the premium ones though. I bought this one: 6ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable
I'd love to hear what other users have to say.
I bought the premium cable from monoprice, and it works great.

Non HTC 10 chargers?

I don't fully understand why, but I've read that due to our phone using USB-C for charging, that I should probably just use the OEM cable and charger my phone came with. I have an LG G5 charger and cable laying around, but the specs are slightly different than the 10's. Would it damage my phone to use that as a spare charger? Also, can somebody give me a simple explanation why USB-C is delicate for quick charging?

I'll rephrase the question, not statement, in a way that might be easier for you to understand. Here it goes: Can somebody give me a simple explanation as to some people allege USB-C is not compatible with Qualcomm QC?
Also, since my question is about quick charging, and since the LG G5's charger uses quick charging, that's the kind of charging I want to do.

i would check the output voltage, htc can accept ~5volt ~9volt and ~12volt.
if you have a good usb-a to usb-c cable (stock or somethink like aukey (NOT ANKER)) i would feel comfortable becouse the phone and the charger communicate with eachother on what voltage to charge.

To be even more precise, on just one model ID of their PowerLine USB C cables, the rest of their PowerLine USB C cables are fine.
Anker’s Powerline 3.1 Gen2 cable has a flaw that causes it to “remember” the charging voltage for a laptop that it’s plugged into, then accidentally provide that higher voltage to a phone unless it’s unplugged from the more powerful charging base. This can overload your phone and destroy it.
Anker has already replied with the following recall:
We are offering all of our PowerLine USB-C A8185011 users a full refund.

Right, and that's a USB-C to USB-C cable. Not sure why you're recommending to stay away from Anker's USB-A to USB-C cables.

Get the right Type C cable!

I came across Benson Leung's blog posts for USB Type C cables that pass muster, preferably USB IF Certified. He's an engineer with Google. There are about a hundred or so "compliant" cables but there are probably hundreds more that are not, tons are on Amazon and at Best Buy. One quick thing to look for that good cables have is a solid pin , there is no vertical seam down the middle of the pin that plugs into the phones charging port.

this is so annoying. so I've gotten two USB c adapter he recommended so I can use one with my Samsung charger, which I assume will work no problem. and one ill use in car. but my car chargers are old, and i think quick charge 2.0. so if I use the adapter, will it blow my phone up?? You should check to see if they are Benson's list for compliance. He forced them to issue a recall for one of their products. I'm returning an Aukey 3.0 charging station today that is overheating badly while the 2.0 charging station I have from them runs fine.

Correct I was thinking about this Aukey charger, my mistake. They laid into Aukey hard core. obviously both companies have put out some inferior products with regard to Type C USB standards. we cant give them blank check on brand name...yet.

Heads up, I picked up a couple of cables from Benson's list. One iOrange-E and one WolfBlitz.
Unfortunately the WolfBlitz does not appear to support Quick Charge 3.0. I'm getting a message to use the original LG cable. The iOrange-E cable does not have this issue. Both were $10 on Amazon for the braided 6 foot long versions. I like the braided versions over the stiff Belkin type cables because They are eaiser to keep in my coat pocket when connected to my small 3.0 QC power bank.
I bought a good quality braided USB A to USB C cable to use as a spare for my LG V20.
When I connect my phone to my PC using the cable, the phone indicates "Charging" but it doesn't show up as a removable drive and there is an exclamation mark on the COM6 device in device manager.
Switching back to my OEM LG cable, everything works just fine.
This is the cable that I bought:
http://www.hi-online.co.za/pdp/snug-type-c-to-usb-3-cable/_/A-270091AADG5
When looking at a cable in-store, I honestly don't know how to tell which cable will work and which won't.
Now, I only really need the cable as a spare for charging purposes but I'm concerned about whether its safe for me to continue to use it for that.
There aren't a lot of options available in stores where I live but this is one other option I saw:

As Bensor and Nathan K point out repeatedly, the USB C spec forbids proprietary fast charging such as QC 2 and 3. USB C supports PD fast changing. Oddly, the LG charger that comes with the LG20 has QC3 but I don't use it, I use a Benson-approved PD charger.

so my question is with USB C being the next thing in adapters and now my laptop has a few of them can all things USB C be plugged into all chargers with USB C? for example my laptop is USB C and what happens if you plug that into your Pixel?
Thanks
I prefer anker, they make good quality stuff at an affordable price.
I don't worry about the spreadsheet and I have no issues. I don't get the cheapo $5 chargers I stick with reputable brands. I appreciate what he's doing but the lists are very confusing. I've read so much conflicting in for about what's safe and what's not.. Some say ALL USB C to C cables are fine and there is nothing to check. Some say you do have to worry about them though.
Some say you can use micro USB adapters with old micro USB cables and not worry.. Some say you have to worry.

I feel the same way. I tried reading all the articles and it confused me more than anything. Such as the one you buy from Verizon the cord is supposedly junk and it doesn't charge properly....
The way I see it is if the charger is charging properly and the phone isn't running hot, then you should be good to go....
I'm using my Anker Qualcomm quick charger 3 car charger with decent success. It's probably not charging as fast as possible for this device but it works.
I have a Choetech type C charger at work and also a RavPower type C ac adapter which came with my Ravpower QC3.0 USB power bank. Both works flawlessly.

Need new Charging/Data cable

I have ordered 2 cables from Amazon that said they were compatible with the S3 SM-T820 tablet but I had to return them both because they would not fit the S3 tablet. Does anyone know where I can get a 6 ft charging/data cable preferably a flexible one?
