It looks like the official Xposed has been released for 7.1.x. It doesn't look like people have gotten it to work with Pixel (XL) though. Has anyone tried?
I'm using Pure Nexus 7.1.2 with Magisk 14.2 and I am unable to get the new Xposed to work. Has anyone tried it with a stock rom?
Yea , i tried and it didnt work . I am not on stock , i am using PN.
i read in the xposed thread that many people tried it on the pixel xl and not working.
when i tried to flash the framework it gave me an error about mounting system.

Use Flashfire to install the ARM64 (v88) zip. Just make sure you select Auto-Mount in Flashfire when you have selected that zip.
When you've rebooted, install the Xposed 3.1.2 app.
I've only tried Youtube adaway, and that is working fine. I know a lot of modules need to be updated for Nougat.
I'm using SuperSu 2.82 SR5, I'm not sure this installation method will work using Magisk.
Works fine from the App just click the install button and select install when it's finished reboot

I installed it via flashfire but then it said it ver88 is installed but not active so I downloaded it and tried to install it this way and here's what I got any advice?

I was having trouble with it so I installed the systemless Magisk one from here (you need their version of the Xposed installer for it to work)

I just installed the xposed framework sdk 25 in the download section of the magisk manager app and installed the apk attached to this post instead of the official xposed installer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268

You know of where I can get the uninstaller for it? I deleted the module as a way to start fresh and now it's throwing up this error when I try to install it

Isn't that unofficial xposed? I tried that a couple weeks ago before the official version came out and it wouldn't work for me. Ended up getting rid of magisk and getting supersu and then using the xposed installer to install xposed.

First of all, it's 15.4.A.1.9. Second, Xperia M never had issues with Xposed Installer since 4.1. It has always been safe.
But if you've faced that problem, maybe you just did something wrong.
Follow these steps (But first, make sure you you are full rooted):
1. Download Xposed Installer and install normally.
2. Open the app, go to Framework, tap on Install/Update.
3. Grant superuser access.
4. Tap OK to reboot.
That's pretty much it.
To install modules, just go to Download, pick any modules you want, then install it. Then go to Modules and tick the checkbox of the newly installed module.Every new module requires a reboot.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: OH, and don't forget to download Xposed Installer from here. This is the official thread.

Actually, one time on 4.1.2 I ended up in a bootloop as the framework wasn't working properly with my device. I updated the framework, got an error and not thinking I rebooted and then ended up in a bootloop. So it hasn't always been safe.

I'm on the first 4.3 update and I have never experienced a problem with Xposed. I have had it rooted with Nicki root and towelroot and both methods work perfectly fine with Xposed.

If so, can you post a little about the initial setup? If you want to change kernels do you have to resort back to stock each time?
I understand you need to be completely stock when you install it the first time, I assume with an unlocked bootloader?

I use Magisk on all Nougat roms. I haven't had any luck with "Chainfires" SuperSU v2.78 or any other version for that matter. I think the set up requires a couple more steps that just flashing a SuperSu zip like the one we are all used to but the benefits that come with Magisk are worth it and it just plain works. And if you use the Magisk manager you can also toggle SElinux on and off and turn root on and off for apps that require no root.. I have been on board since N hit and we has no working root accept for this, and once I used it I was hooked.

Yeah I'm enjoying it. Also the automagisk app helps with other apps.
I'm using the phh superuser and its been working fine. Just waiting for xposed to drop for N and I'll be happy.

Yea no prob.
What I did was use the nexus root toolkit to unlock my bootloader (replacement phone) then followed this guide

But I replaced the su with the phh super user from magisk.
I also did Franco kernel.

hie guys i am actually new to magisk and using this for pokemon go, my phone is nexus 6p and running android 7.1.1. Everything is working fine as i have checked on root checker pro, I am having some problems and i hope i will get some help here
1.) i am not able to move any app to system, error showing is 'can not remount system'
2.) when i restore any back up it restores till 53% and then stucks in bootloop
3.) i am not able to install any update even if i hide my root. tried flashfire also

I'm on Google Pixel ROM(rooted), with SuperSU.
I thought that the installation guide on the Magisk site said that Magisk would over write SuperSU.
Whats your setup, and what process did you use to get Magisk working?

If the ROM does not come with root, reflash ROM and then magisk.

Magisk does not overwrite supersu, if it detects supersu it does not install it's own superuser version. It continues to allow the system use supersu.
If you want to use magisk and use magisk's su, then you'd need to use a rom that does not come rooted and then flash magisk.

Finally got Magisk installed by removing SuperSU, reflashing the boot image (stock), then Magisk - all good!
Can anyone tell me some benefits of magisk apart from hiding root to some apps?

A lot of apps won't work if they detect root, or if the SafetyNet won't pass. Android Pay is one of them, but a lot of banking apps, Pokemon Go, Mario Run, etc won't work.

The modules are worth it. I only use a few for the camera, like 60fps video or EIS, and they're quite nice.
I installed the weta 9.1 using twrp and it installed successfully but V4A is not showing up in my SuperSU and it also didnt ask for root permission. I just want to know if its working or not?? And is this normal??

Twrp RC2 doesn't work for me. I have to use RC1 to flash Weta 9.1

Not sure if anyone actually answered your question. It's installed as a system app with the drivers. SU permission would only be if you installed the drivers from the app. So, mine works great but not listed in SU permission list.
None of the default locations work for me.
Make sure you install SuperSU as systemless, and do Su/xbin I believe.

SuperSu is indeed systemless. However, BusyBox is saying that it isn't. Very strange.

Are you saying it will not install if using suhide? I am unable to install Busybox Pro (Stericson ) in any folder in the list of choices. This is true on both Pixel XL and Pixel, and both are running suhide along with SuperSU 2.82 SR3.

and was able to install busybox after. Newest su will root but not compatible with busybox. Works ?
Definitely Busybox or SUhide for now. Installed SR1 Pixel Fix over SR3, and SUhide wouldn't open or install, Busybox would install. After installing Busybox, installed SU SR3 and SUhide. The Busybox install disappeared. Tried BB to other directories that would allow install with SR1 Pixel Fix and it still disappeared when installing SR3/SUhide. I'd rather have SUhide as Android Pay and other apps I need hidden from root are working.

That solved a lot of problems for me...
Update: though the v4a driver installed after this version of BusyBox was installed, I lost root and could not get twrp to prompt for decryption. So, disregard the part where it solved my problems... Actually created more...

Experiencing the same thing. Can you check if yours also has Internal Storage at 0MB when in TWRP?
Also TWRP could not mount /data and is unable to find crypto footer
Process of install: Supersu > Suhide > Busybox
Had the same issue after installing busy box. I had to flash a factory image and re-root.
I already reflashed my factory image. This solved the problem. I haven't rerooted yet but at least Android Studio sees my phone now.

I assume you all used meefik busybox. I installed it about a week ago, and it appeared fine. Upon reboot, I had lost root/suhide and was unable to get back into twrp. I ended up having to reflash the factory image. I am just waiting for a compatible version of busybox/supersu/suhide at this point and not installing busybox since the other two are working ok.

UPDATE 3: This thread is now useless, I recommend flashing mesa's custom kernel and then just normal magisk
UPDATE 4: Magisk is now officially fixed you can use stable version of magisk now

Are you claiming the magisk manager works or root works but the manager doest work.
I have root with this but magisk doest work.
If you want root aps like adaway to work this will work.

I use a custom rom that isnt on xda

The official mck oreo has a device check that checks for a530f and if its not a530f then it would fail

URL leads to A8+ but I see a link to the A8 in the same thread. Is there a plan to release on XDA? There is a language barrier for me.

No there is no plan to release on xda
Dont worry about a8+, it will still work

And it doesn't seem to work with the busybox from Magisk modules, says it can't detect root. That's actually the reason I don't use Magisk either right now, even though I've managed to install it and other stuff seemed to work ok (eg. Xposed). Titanium can't detect root, and if you try to install Stericson's Busybox it says something about unrecognized binary and refuses to install.

So you will have to install apps remember this a temp solution for root.
