Note 2 size, easy to get used to ?

How is the Note 2 everyday 24/7 ? I am talking size, do you get used to it right away ?
For people new to the large Note series, not owning a Note 1, how is the Note 2 to one hand operate and just use day in day out ? I have owned all three Nexus phones so far, Nexus-One, Nexus-S, Galaxy Nexus, and now the international One X. I have no problem with the Galaxy Nexus and One X size, yeah they are border line hard to reach top of the phone with my thumb in one hand, but have no problem with 4.7" screen whatsoever, could handle larger I think.
I really like what I see in the Note 2 and am looking for a change from my One X, but worried how difficult is it to use with just one hand, or is this a two handed phone mostly ?
Putting in pocket and then pulling out to answer a phone call ? Any issues with the size ? It fits in your normal type jeans or dress pants ?
Or typing up a quick text, can that be done one handed with ease and fast as a smaller Nexus sized phone ?
Thanks
Yea to me i got use it to. i went from a blackberry to the note 2 and it was a big change at first but after the first couple of hours it becomes okay to deal with. After a couple of days you feel like its a normal phone

This! It's actually funny to hold/use smaller phones after using the Note II for a while. It fits into my shirt or pants pockets but I'm always afraid it will slip out or I'll sit on it. Making phone calls is a bit odd at first too but it's all a matter of getting used to.
Totally true. After using my Note 1 for about 5 months, it was very very awkward for me to hold other smaller phones, especially the iphone 4s

It depends on what size your hands are. Mine are Large/Xl large on glove size. I came from a Htc one XL,4.7 inch screen. I've had it since it came out in Nov. Its awesome! I won't go back to a smaller phone. I love the way the stylus works. I wouldn't put it in your blue jeans though. A coat or jacket yeah. Maybe an otterbox case. I use a leather belt clip case with the original samsung leather flip case on mine. Sometime a bluetooth headset or a wired headphone/mic combination to use google voice commands while driving. I recommend buying it, you won't regret it. I love it so much I bought off contract and put in a straight talk sim card.:cyclops::cyclops:
Thanks for the quick replies.
I am looking to buy it at Best Buy, off contract, they said would match any legit online price. I am currently using Straight Talk ATT
What's the best price for it, off contract ? Like $649 ?

Its pretty easy to get used to but i can see how it might be difficult for smaller people. Only issue i have is that I'm left handed so the flip cover is a little awkward to operate one handed. It is true that its difficult to go back to smaller phones. Had to go back to my captivate for a day and it felt like using a netbook screen vs a desktop monitor
My only beef with the Note 2, is the stock launcher and 4 x 4 grid szie, seems ridiculous for such a large screen. But I know different launchers and custom ROM's can easily fix this.
My point being, 4 x 4 or whatever stock is, seems silly for such a large screen. I want it to be like 6 icons wide, x 5 icons tall, that seems to fit a phone like this better. And can't the DPI be altered too ? For a screen this big, I think it needs to be shrunk down, make icons and everything look smaller, would make it look like higher resolution ?

I picked mine up @ The At&t store when it first came on in November. I paid 650.00 for it plus tax. They wanted to give me 107.00 credit if I traded it in my 6 month old Htc one x. I declined because it was unlocked. Anyways like you said a custom rom gets you smaller icons, different menu sizes.

They will price match. $649 was the lowest I found it, so they matched that.
Yes will be easy to get used to. Will have a great time while getting used to it.

I came from the iPhones straight to the Note II. Other than I didn't want to leave fingerprints on it at first, I had no problem adjusting to its size. Within a week of using it, holding my old iPhones felt like I was holding a child's toy. I even subconsciously felt like if I was careful with the iPhones, I would break them by gripping them too tightly...
Once you switch to a different launcher and/or a whole new ROM, you more than likely won't come back to TouchWiz. Not many people do.
Will a custom launcher like Nova, disable the good S-Pen features and Touchwiz Widgets?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Which S-Pen features? Of course, I'm sure someone else is more qualified to answer your question. I know Go Launcher EX allowed most of the S-Pen features.
Touchwiz widgets as in? The clock? That can be brought over to another launcher. Music player? Same.
I have small hands and after a few days I was still very comfortable with it, it feels kinda awkward at first, especially for making calls, but after a little while any other phone just feels like a toy.

I have no complaints with the size. It fits comfortably in my hands which are bigger than average anyway...
Current Devices: At&t Samsung Galaxy Note, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Asus Google Nexus 7 Super Tablet

You'll get used to it quickly. I've only had mine about 3 weeks and holding my work blackberry 9900 or my wifes iphone 5 is very akward.

I got used to the size very quickly. The size allows Android handheld devices to be what they really are Mobile Pocket Personal Computer aka MPPC. I love it.
I would be willing to to go larger. Maybe 6.3" or 6.5".
I came from Droid X and Samsung Omnia i910 (win mobile 6.1).

Which phone are you swapping to now? Pixel / I7 / V20 or other?

Haven't had an iphone in years and not sure what to go with now. 256gb i7 plus? or wait for new pixel? what are you doing?
Just pre ordered the Pixel XL 128Gb. Apparently it comes with a voucher for a free Daydream VR. I think the phone is the closest thing to the note. Wont touch apple. I forgot to mention that I already got my 256 GB micro SD card free.
No wireless charging to start I am out...

Correct me if I'm wrong the Pixel doesn't have a Micro SD slot.
S7E the only model that comes even close to the N7. Damn shame, awesome phone.

The wife and I are swapping out in the morning for Edge 7s. It's the closest thing to the Note so we'll go with that until the successor to the Note arrives.
Ordered a Pixel XL from Verizon which arrives 10/20...but now im in a predicament because I'm flying on Monday for a week long vacation and can't legally bring my Note 7 on the plane...

I upgraded back to the Note 4. Love the Note phones Note 4 is better than the Note 5 IMHO. For the price it was the best phone to purchase in the Samsung line. This will also give me a chance to upgrade again to the S8 or Note 8.

Getting the s7edge. I feel the pixel is overpriced and will drop in price really fast.
Getting the one plus 3 to tie me over
I'm getting the V20. Going to miss the S pen and wireless charging but looking forward to the DAC enhanced music player. Also I'm intrigued by the dual screen.

I agree.. No OIS, makes me feel that they are going cheap on hardware. They are more relying on their software capabilities..
So as soon as something new will come, out their resale value will drop like like a stone...
Does anyone know if the Pixel will have video calling through the phone app that allows you to video call anyone on the Verizon network no matter what phone the other person has (as long as both phones have the ability)? I know there are third party apps, but I'm asking specifically if it will be built into the native phone app? I use this with my daughter who has the S7. Worked great between my N7 and her S7.

When did you order the i7?
Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
How about none. Outright returned my phone, switched back to my Note 5 (although I did the stylus tip switch before turning it in, so the stylus is more accurate). Didn't want to waste my money with a downgrade and didn't feel like waiting to upgrade to an iPhone 7 Plus so I could Ebay it. The Pixel looks nice, but no demo units to test and I hate how they chose on-screen buttons instead of capacitive buttons. That, and no microSD card support - I have 2 x 256 gb cards, and want to use one in a phone to ease switching.
The BS of it is they are crediting my bill the amount of the Note 7, not refunding it directly.

Tis the week of the pixel

Finally! Just a few days away. I haven't been this excited about getting a new phone in a long time. I'm guessing selling my 6p and going back to my Nexus 6 might have something to do with it. Don't get me wrong my old 6 is still doing what I wanted it for when I decided to keep it instead of selling it. I got to tell you if I miss one thing is the camera in my 6p. Trust me once you get used to a quality camera on your phone than have it taken away and you will understand. I'm looking forward to having that again and am hoping with Google jumping all in we actually have some companies going all in when it comes to accessories. My wife has a iPhone 7plus and the amount of quality and I mean quality accessories that were immediately available for that phone made me jealous. Let's face it while Google and Nexus were technically together the phones really never made it big time. The plan is selling a heck of a lot more of these than any other of the old nexuses so let's see!

I think I'm looking most forward to the smaller size. I don't dislike the size of my 6P, I'm just looking forward to having a more manageable size. I'm reminded of how much I enjoy smaller-sized phones whenever I take out my Nexus 5.
The camera is the other thing I'm really looking forward to.
I don't have big hands either and know what you are talking about! This 6 is too big and the 6p was better! I've handled the pixel xl and can tell you it's even better than the 6p. It's not just the screen is a little smaller but it's Engineered better.

I'm not too excited about my preordered pixel. If I hadn't had my hands on the Note 7, I would be. I don't expect it to come close, and feel like I'm settling for something less than what I wanted. I'm sure it will be a great phone, but it's not a replacement for the note, just the next best thing I could find.
Exciting, will be allot of fun.
Everyone will be pixel-ated

I couldn't agree more with this. Having this note 7 has really changed my mind on large phones and I think that's what im most unexcited about. Nothing and I mean nothing out right now can possibly come close to the note 7. The pixel is just the next best thing.
The features of the Note 7 far outweigh the Pixel's, but the only thing I really used on my Note that I can't do on my Pixel is the S-Pen. And I will trade day 1 updates and blazing fast speed for my S-Pen and be more than satisfied
It's going to be great. it's going to be so great that it will be yuuuuge. It's going to be immense!

Am I the only one who has waited for this since the Nexus 6?

I never could bring myself to get a 6P or Pixel. I feel like I have been waiting all this time, JUST for this phone! I hope it won't disappoint.
What do you all think?
I'm with you. Upgrading from my N6 too. Was going to get the Pixel XL last year but couldn't pull the trigger at that price with those bezels, no waterproofing, etc.
me too (i spend all my saving for this year )
i order my pixel 2 xl 64 black

no, i did that also
I had fun with the Nexus6p and Pixel XL between the Nexus6 and the Pixel XL 2...

Same here, for all the same reasons. N6 is starting to slow down and battery isn't as good as it once was. It lasted longer than any other phone I've ever had though

I'm getting a P2XL, but I feel like I'm still waiting for the perfect phone. If I didnt have to get stuck with TouchWiz I would say the S8+ would be it.
Went from galaxy nexus to nexus 5 to nexus 6 then to 6P then skipped the first pixel. So i also has high hopes for this year
But I learned with my 6P that 128gb of storage isnt quite going to cut it so very disappointed the XL 2 doesnt have a 256gb option.
But other than that it ticks all the boxes and then some for me....in still debating it lol.

You'll probably get it knowing your track record!
Currently have the Nexus 6 and upgrading to the Pixel 2 xl. It was between that or the v30. Want a phone with good development don't know if the v30 will have an unlockable bootloader maybe only the unlocked version. The nexus 6 has been so good to me that haven't had a reason to upgrade. Its still kind of difficult to let it go since the phone works perfect. Maybe the battery has a little less capacity. Other than that, Shamu will be missed.

I went from Nexus 5 to The original Pixel xl. Was looking hard at the Nexus 6P. Now the new Pixel 2 XL.
I just put my Nexus 6 up for sale. It was my daily driver for 2+ years. It had every ROM known to man at one time. I got an XL nut the screen was not big enough for me. The N6 spoiled me.
I'm daily driving a Note 8 right now but I'm looking forward to the 2 XL.
Hehe.. yeah i had the orig xl verizon version.. depixled when i got it...bit had to rma.. received 7.1.1 on replacement.. put it on swappa same day.. went back to my tried and true N6... I just hope the 2 xl stacks up to this phone on quality and dev support

I tried the pixel and had charging problems so I returned it like the phone though. Just ordered the xl2. If there are any kind of problems with this phone illl return it and go back to a iphone. As frustrating as iPhones are to use I'll at least have something that works properly
I'm coming from a N6 too... Though not because I didn't wanna upgrade sooner!
Yes, I'm upgrading from a Nexus 6 to a Pixel 2 XL. Haven't decided which color to get thought.
Great to see a lot of Nexus6 and Nexus6p owners onboard for this exciting Pixel XL 2! Rock on

Google Pixel 2 XL | or | Oneplus 5T

I am confused between google pixel 2 xl and oneplus 5t, which phone should I buy?
The purpose of buying any one of these phones is to install different custom roms.
so what you people suggest which phone will have more custom roms?
Thank you.
should surely be 5T. but launching with Android N just sucks!
I came from a op5.. Although both are during 835, the pixel is so much smoother and also the touch latency is much lower..
Facing the same dilemma here.
On one hand, the Pixel 2 XL is a clear winner for me since great (if not the best) camera is very important to me. However, the screen issues (talking about REAL issues like flashing, green lines, etc) are putting me off since I don't live in a country where Google has an official store, meaning - every return/warranty claim is going to be a nightmare.
On the other hand, the Oneplus 5T seems like an almost perfect device. Great build, fast and fluid UX, low price tag, but there are 2 things holding me back - the camera isn't as good as the Pixel's. Not even close. 2nd thing is security - no timely updates and the whole spying/data mining fiasco lately just shows how security is NOT taken seriously by Oneplus, unfortunately.
So I'm basically torn
You can buy 2 op5t for the price of one pixel. So you get good value for money. Pixel 2 xl doesn't seem good value.

Pixel 2 XL is more expensive, but better in every way (except charging speed)

If a person is buying a phone just to root and ROM..... no, the One+ is a better buy so long as you're not worried about the camera. For the better camera and a fully device supported over the life of the phone the Pixel is the better buy.
If your just talking about custom roms go with the 5t.

Is the Oneplus usable on all major carriers now? I always wanted one, but I'm on Verizon.
If you care about having Google's android and functions and 3 years of update (3 versions after Oreo) go for the Pixel 2 XL.
But of course it's more expensive
Sent from my Pixel 2
If you don't care much of camera quality go for the 5T. It's cheaper and you can buy other toys with your money.
