Pixel 2 mhl or hdmi output function - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

As my car only have a hdmi input. If i want to use Android auto, apart from miracast, I think mhl or type-c to hdmi is the best way.
But since my Nexux 6P it can't support mhl or hdmi either. It's so Headacheļ¼
And I ask google support. Thery say it won't support in pixel 2 too.
Can any one could try it in pixel or pixel 2 with a type-c to hdmi adapter?

Warer, I wish that could be possible with Pixel 2 USB 3.1 port.

Just received my Pixel 2 and was looking for info.
I tried a USB C to HDMI that works on my Razer blade but does nothing on Pixel (I still have menu to choose : power device, charge, pptp, midi but no video out)

The Pixels does not support any video output via the USB C port.

External display over USB-C?

New Macbook can drive an external display over USB-C. Can Android / Nexus 5x?
Found a USB-C hdmi adapter that says it supports ChromeBook Pixel. Any idea if it would support Nexus 5x? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01EP...i=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Usb-c+mhl+hdmi
Yes. Im using it on my LG G5 right now. Only issue is the resolution. I cant seem to change it. The adapter I found has hdmi, usb, and a usb-c port, so I can hook up keyboard, mouse, monitor and still charge.
Nexus 5X doesn't support display out through USB port. It uses new connector, but specification is only USB 2.0.

BC Master USB Type-C to HDMI Female Adapter Support 4K Resolution

This is BC Master USB Type-C to HDMI Female Adapter is the "Swiss army" adapter because of all it does for me. I own a Google ChromeBook Pixel and USB ports are at a minimum plus im constantly streaming to the TV so this is the perfect solution for me as it fixes 3 of my issues with the Pixel. I also just ordered a Motorola z force which uses USB TYPE-C so I will be also using this adapter on that device and one feature that puts this adapter ahead of others is the PD port which I know I will be using with Moto Z to be able to charge the phone while I am using it while using the adapter. The BC Master USB Type-C to HDMI Female Adapter has 4 USB 3.0 ports for SuperSpeed data transferring of up to 5 Gbps and downward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 specifications and supports high resolution up to 4K . Another feature I dont see on other units I compared this to was it also supports high definition audio including SACD, DVD-Audio which I liked for gaming. This adapter is Bus-Powered, so no additional power adapter needed and supports hot swapping & plug-and-play and for safety has a built-in surge protector incorporated to safeguard your USB devices. Overall im very happy after using this for over a month and never thought I would use it as much as I do but it really comes in handy in some way everyday. Its priced at $35.59 HERE and comes with a 24 months warranty.

USB-C to USB-A Cables - Technical Differences aside from 56k OHM Resistor?

If any mods feel this shouldn't be a separate thread, please move it to the "Android Auto issues" thread.
Would anyone be able to provide technical expertise regarding USB-A to USB-C cables, aside from the 56k OHM resistor, Possibly latency differences of some sort? The Tronsmart is on Bensen's approved list
Right now I am using these Tronsmart Cables: USB C Cable, Tronsmart USB-C to USB-A Cable with 56k Resistor (3.3 Feet, 1 x Black,1 x White) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018S347O0
With the recent influx of Android Auto issues on the newer phones, I'm wondering if there's any technical differences between this cable, and for example: Anker Powerline+ USB C to USB 3.0 Cable (3ft) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3NB6FB
I have absolutely no issues with my Nexus 6P, and I'd hate to spend $12 to find out the cable is not the issue, just because I have so many USB-C to USB-A Cables.
Using the original USB-A to USB-C cable that came with the Nexus 6P results in non stop crashing of Android Auto for me on my Pixel 2XL. Using the original USB-A to USB-C cable that came with the Pixel XL allows me to use Android Auto with my Pixel 2XL without any more issues than I had on the Pixel XL.

This is very interesting. I'm not home now and don't recall, does the Pixel 2 XL even come with a USB-A to USB-C cable, or just an adapter from USB A to C?
I never had an original Pixel, so I don't have the original Pixel cable. I also wonder what the equivalent cable would be to buy.

The pixel 2xl only comes with a usb-c to usb-c. You would think anything from Google would work but seeing as their own cable from the 6P is causing mine to crash that's obviously not the case.
There is an adapter that comes with the pixel 2 xl with A and C ports.

True...but it's the female side to use an old USB cable to plug into the Pixel 2XL for data transfer when setting up. It's not the male side that would plug into a head unit for Android Auto so I didn't mention it.

USB C to HDMI

Hi, I've been using this phone for the past 2 weeks. So far everything works as expected except usb c to hdmi which I'm pretty sure is not supported.
Does Asus didn't get the certification from HDMI to enable this feature?
