Would the 3/32 variant of this phone be a significant upgrade over an X Play? - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

My carrier (Virgin Canada) are offering the 3/32 variant at the moment.
My main gripe with the X Play is with Spotify. I have a 1gb plan so I try and store as much offline music as I can. The X Play with all my apps and Lineage installed only has ~4gb usable space for music/photos. Once I start to fill that up Spotify lags baaaad. Like if I search for something I get that loading spinner for a minute or two and then it gives up and tells me something went wrong.
Looking at the spec upgrade:
32 vs 16gb storage
3 vs 2gb RAM
SD 626 vs 615
Battery would be a downgrade at 3000 vs 3630mAh
Screen is the same 5.5 1080
How does the camera at 12MP compare to the X Plays at 21MP
How has the Z2 Play fared with (security) updates so far? As I mentioned I'm running Lineage on the X Play right now. If camera quality wasn't compromised too badly I'd probably eventually unlock the bootloader if official Lineage came to the Z2 Play

What Would You Like To See On The Xperia Play 2?

Hey guys iam just here to discuss what i would like to se on the Sony Xperia Play 2.
Screen: 4.3 inch super amoled plus screen 1280x720 pixel resolution.
Give us three buttons like on arc.
Front camera: 2MP with 720p recording
Ear speaker: louder and clearer
Headphone jack: let us use all headphones. Dont wanna break open my beats to get them to work WTF
Stereo speakers: No change already great
Back camera: 8mp full 1080p hd recording led flash
Internal memory: 1.5GB RAM 1GB ROM 16GB flash memory
External memory: up to 64gb sdxc
Battery: Heard about new technology called 'graphene or graphite' i think thats what its called. Takes 10 MINUTES TO CHARGE! and last longer than traditional li-ion and li-plo
Batterys.
Now down to the important stuff!
CPU: quad-core 1.5GHZ
GPU: whatever is the latest and greatest GPU at the time. I dont wanna see an outed brought back to life GPU. Its good but just not cutting the mustard anymore.
I dont mind paying out for a great phone and portable gaming device. What about you leave a reply.
I think sony should take the big step with the xperia play 2 and jump into the next area of phones. Not smartphone a superphone
My opinion as a realist: No, not with such specs.
My opinion as an optimist: YESYESYESYESYESYES!!
But seriously, with playstation certificate again, and such INCREDIBLE specs, this phone would probably cost 3x more than the first Xperia PLAY cost during its launch. You should note, that Xperia PLAY is already not so popular phone (in Poland its launch price was about 1800 pln (google this price to see comparision to your currency) which in Poland is very very high price, especially for a single-core phone), also playstation games on android market are only sold about more than 1000 times so for me this phone was some sort of "phone fail" for Sony Ericsson. But if the price was much lower during launch, the support was way better (I mean FULLY WORKING playstation store) and the phone was dual-core (there were already some phones with dual-core CPU, so it wouldn't be new and also expensive), I'm sure this device would be incredibly competitive for other phones.
Anyway, I'm really proud of my Xperia PLAY, gaming is awesome, idea for joining android with psp was superb and I won't switch it for another phone, until I break it or it will die. I just love it.

4.2" Screen OLED Cappacitive

More PS2/PSP games.
Roughly Cost £500-789 But I'D bUY IT¬1
I'd be happy if Play 2 had the hardware of Xperia S, maybe with a better GPU.

No, this isn't Apple, silly.
Joy
Better joysticks! Not one yoy pad like now, real Working touch joysticks!
The main thing I felt needed improvement with the Play is the horrid screen, which has poor viewing angle and very weak brightness. It has to be AMOLED. Also maybe better built quality.
I don't feel Sony wants to make another one due to the emulation and the recent failure of the PSP GO. I think if they create a device like this they want revenue stream from the softwares. They have to market it as a console and it needs to play all the PSP games, but right now this device seems more like a 'competition' to the PSP than anything (think about it). They can win consumers over if they provide good service through a strong market system and a large game library. And if the games are cheap, people will more likely to buy the games then to pirate.
PS. Quadcore don't mean anything to me except excuse for raising phone prices to $1000 and more bloatwares. I'll go with an Exynos 2ghz dual core myself. More cores doesn't tell the whole story when the Apple A5X beats the Tegra 3 on the graphic side. I still don't believe highest spec should be the main focus for a gaming device like this, as odd as that might sound, that is reserved for their flagship devices, to be paired with carriers like ATT and Verizon, and it simply can't be a gaming device. For a device like this it should be the ecosystem, which there isn't a strong one for the Play compared to PSP. I don't think Sony wants or need to spend money on this niche while their PSP handheld is going strong.

[Q] What do you think?

Do you think this Nokia model is worth its price? What do you think about its specification and functions?
I think it's worth the price, it running pretty smooth even with this bad hardware, and apps is not a problem since you can use nokia own map app, and there are many third party stores where you can download more than 500k Android apps. But ofc u can get GAPPS to nokia X
But i find the device to be very good for it's price.

This device seems solid, don't know if it used tweaked qualcomm dalvik, if not it may be worth a try to have even faster device.
The specs seem reasonable for the price. Also interesting from a development and support point of view - it wasn't that long ago that low end Android phones still had 480x320 (e.g., Samsung Galaxy Young), and such phones are still on sale today. The installed userbase moves slower, so there are still phones at 480x320 or even 320x240 in use. So it's nice that for anything on Nokia X, we have an absolute minimum of 800x480.
I tried the UI out in the Nokia X emulator, and it seemed nice.
It will be interesting to see how many Android applications Nokia X launches with from Nokia's own Nokia Store. They seem to have done the cunning move of partnering with 3rd party Android app sites to port apps - I got an email telling me they'd already ported my apps, and they were ready to publish.
A 5 inch android phone from Nokia is really worth the price of just 109 euro I think. I will probably buy one as soon we can get custom roms for it.
Nokia XL

Nokia plans to release Nokia XL Q2 2014, much better specs than the first announced Nokia X, I'm worried about performance, compared to other Android devices, it runs Dual Core 1 GHz ARM Cortex A5 CPU, Adreno 203 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset with 768 MB RAM.

It's worth it's price, nowadays many local companies release android smartphones that are almost same as branded Smartphones, specially in terms of specifications. Nokia X & XL specifications are considered budget to mid-range bracket, according to tech blogs and forums, Some say the downside of this phone are lack of google applications, Nokia X & XL don't have applications such as Google Playstore, Google Maps & Gmail, however nokia provided applications, namely Nokia apps Store, via side-load.
IMHO it is absolutely worth the price coz in this range we have galaxy young, galaxy fame, xperia e, xperia j, lg l3, lg l5, desire 200, desire 300 all of which suck. If you buy any chinese phones then they have slow mediatek chipsets and no custom roms.
Thus to me this seems the best option in the price
Buying a nokia device is always better. 5 months back we all were using 512MB ram device . So 768 MB ram is not so low. And after seeing the quality of lumia devices we can go for X series.
Nokia is giving something different. We should try it. Its the combination of Windows phone and android so .. something what we want.

LeTV One/X600 s1 Hands on, Antutu, Camera, game, GPS, Battery review

We have got the smartphone Letv One/x600 from Chinese reseller. When i got this white one, i was deeply attracted by this high-end smartphone, as you know, Letv has its main line in producing its TVs, not for smartphones. This time Letv expanded its manufacturing line to produce mobile devices to compete with Xiaomi, Huawei, etc. Letv brings the first high-end smartphone for its customers to shock most of us. And its selling price has broken the industry's rule for most cellphones' manufacturers, meanwhile, it's a big shock for them. Therefore, let's probe into this high-end smartphone with me.

5.5 Inch 1920 * 1080 Pixel FHD Sharp IPS Screen
When it leaked before it was officially announced, the screen to body ratio is much large, and it is said it’s borderless or bezel-less. Letv cellphone has two types, one is 5.5inch, the other is 6.33inch, today i will introduce 5.5inch version for you first. It comes with 5.5inch FHD Sharp IPS screen (1920 x 1080, 403 PPI) display, providing the ultra-clear screen quality when i watch the video, view the photos and so on. Therefore, Letv one can be the best rival of Xiaomi Mi note pro, even iphone 6 plus. It's worthwhile to experience its nice sharp IPS screen, which is more exquisite and superior than the common screen.
MediaTek Helio X10 Octa Core 64Bit 2.2GHz + RAM 3GB ROM 16GB
Letv One or Letv X600 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz , along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Letv one is the first time to use Mediatek chipest, Mediatek Helio X10 MTK6795 processor, which means most rapid playing or running speed for more efficient operation. I test to play 3D games, the overall running speed is so fast and swift. Meanwhile, it has come with RAM 3GB ROM 16GB, personally, RAM 2GB storage is much enough for me, but Letv one has RAM 3GB, which is able to make me download apps or run the programs more fluently. You will not agree more with me.
13.0MP Back Camera 5.0MP Front Camera
Letv One or Letv X600 has dual camera with 13.0MP Back OIS Camera flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash, 5.0MP Front Camera located on the front side of this handset. I can easily use 13MP back camera to take photos clearly and fast to memorize every moment in my life and work. Meanwhile, i use the front camera to make face beautification. I like selfie or self-portraits all the time, this time, i really have my own selfie camera instead of bringing the big digital camera when i go traveling. I can take photos well during the strong or weak light. The 1080p video capture amkes it easy to preserve the important moments, which allows you to shoot crisp, detailed images.
3000mAh Battery
I am really satisfied with the battery with 3,000mAh capacity, it can support up to 10 days of standby time. Meanwhile, i don't have to buy a backup, because i can play it all the day without charging under the environment of normal usage. But if i take a vacation outdoors, i will prepare a power bank to charge fast for my smartphone in case of powered-off situation.
EUI OS
It has broken the record to use it own original and pure EUI OS, which can be one of the most advantages of this smartphone. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with Letv's EUI OS on top of Google's operating system. Therefore, Letv one utilizes its latest and best system to provide customers with better experience in OS.
Support 4G LTE, OTG, WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, Multilanguage, Play Store, IR Remote Control .etc
This is also a dual-SIM device (micro + micro SIM) which offers 4G LTE connectivity as well. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0 are also available here. Of course, it can support Multilanguage and google play store, GPS, IR remote control function like other smartphones. 4G LTE Network lets you surf the Web, access social networks, download apps and stream media. GPS function helps you locate unfamiliar destinations. IR remote control function helps me control my TV, air conditioner or other appliance at home more freely and conveniently. Therefore, do you think Letv one is powerful?
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Letv one can be the best and first smartphone for Letv to grab a lot of market share in terms of its hardware, software, or its design. Most importantly, it costs its users less than other high-end smartphone such as Huawei p8, Xiaomi mi note pro etc. This 5.5inch FHD smartphone has taken its first step and have a good standpoint in smartphone line. I know it is in stock now, hope you can share with me.
Letv one phone 4G LTE can be used in the United States? I finally bought a Letv One Pro phone, I need to wait 5 days to get my package.

Maybe you need to install Google services or something like that.
I got mine today from tinydeal.
Positives
- Display is great. I had no problem out- or inside. It was sunny today, so I think the display will work just fine.
- notifcation-LED up-left
-I like the mute button. I missed it since my last iphone and it's very soild. I hope I don't play with it too much (ruined on my old 3gs by playing with it)
- you can display the battery status in procentage TinyDeal Rom: its pre-activated
- you will have the full 16 GB for apps and stuff. 10,15 GB are free, sadly thats 2,8 GB less than on my Mi3
- USB OTG is avaible on the LeTV SE1. I already asked sandisk for a USB Stick Sample. Stay tuned!
- USB C – i love it!
- just about 50k Antutu points yeah! Tinydealrom: first run 50.000; second 49.000. Devices get warm doing those two benchmark runs
- performance is great. It's like butter.
- yes, its not brezel-less but it's still a beauty!
Neutral Stuff
- It doesn't feature two speakers, just one. the other grill is the microphone.
- no 2D Gla
- TinyDeal doesn't ship the LeTV with LeTV Services
- Tiny Deal installs a Rom with Dt. Sprache.
- I'd like it a little less apple. Even the package is iphone 6
- vibration could be stronger
- there are no notifications on your app icons (like 5 unread messages)
- just 2 micro sims, no nano or normal sized sim
Die Cons
- you basicly can't see the softkeys in bright sunlight .... or any light.
- no sd card slot
- there is really much bloat software installed on the letv one
- … USB-OTG only works via...yes USB C
- the overall feeling is great. BUT the backcover is a pure joke
- no Band20/800 MHz
Benchmark:
Geekbench 3: TinyDeal Rom: 906/4622 // Stable 003S Single Core : 884 MultiCore 4751
Geekbench 3 Battery: TinyDeal Rom: didn't run that // Stable 003S is going to take place tonight
Antutu Benchmark:TinyDeal rom: 50106 // Stable 003S: I can't find antutu benchmark anymore?!
Audio:
Stale (LeTV's) Bugs
- many apps don't work with the LeTV any more, like Modern Combat 5
- no batch install in Play Store anymore
Whats in the future:
I'lll test the LeTV intensive. Make more photos and stuff. Stay tuned

yeah, i know, I even made a tutorial video on how to install it. But tried so many apps, still, can't access contacts. For example, I downloaded the Contacts app, which easily lets you sync it with your Google account. Once you want to do that, it redirects you to phone's settings, which allow only to choose Corporate, Facebook or Skype account. I even tried to set up Google account as corporate, still no result.. Anyway, I think it will be fixed some day. It sucks as all my contacts are in Google.

Well, at least, you can export them.
Just checking, did you install some google zip with TWRP? I found this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6DqRw6CSF8mcnI3ZzRleVVySEk/view
Now, my TWRP is in spanish, any way to get in english?!
EDIT: I downloaded the file 286X_v1_1080_dark.zip from https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/z31s1g/1080/TWRP 286X_v1
Connected the phone to pc, renamed that file to ui.zip, created a folder called "theme" on the TWRP folder on the phone storage and copied ui.zip to that new folder. Done! TWRP in english and themed!
EDIT2: Now, in TWRP, it just doesn't unlock, when it says "swipe right to unlock" it does nothing. No button work there. Oh the power does!
Guys, something is really wrong with the GPS. When driving the accuracy sky rockets to 30+ meters (tested with GPS test plus, get in aptoide). At 80 km/h, the accuracy goes 40+ meters. Yes, meters, not feet. My crappy THL 5000, maintains accuracy always at 3-4 meters. I'm running the last update 5.0.003S.
Anyone here tested it on the road?

Google Daydream compatibility

Does anyone have an idea if when the Z Play gets Android 7.x.x if it will be compatible with Google's Daydream app and headset like the Z and Z Force are?
It may be (I hope) but we first will need nougat. So anytime from today until March from the rumors
I doubt we have the screen resolution to meet the Daydream requirements.
Googling shows "Resolution at least 1080p @ 60Hz display with 3ms or less latency and 5ms or less persistence. (Quad HD or higher recommended.)".
Since the Z Play is 1080p it could perhaps be enough rez but the 3ms/5ms I could not find specs on.
It just about meets all the known Daydream requirements. The AMOLED display should meet the latency requirements.
But even if everything is met, Lenovo would actually have to bother to get it Daydream certified. They might not have an interest in that to distinguish it further from the Z flagship.
We may meet the requirements, but it's been said that a 1080p resolution isn't ideal for VR...My limited understanding is that with the split screen, that essentially does 2x480p...Not as awesome as on the Z / Z Force. Since I didn't get the phone for VR, not a big deal for me. But hey, even the smallest phones getting Nougat will have VR out of the box. Figures why $100-250 phones are getting bigger in size...
Well I just tried out Cardboard with a crappy headset I have and the rez and latency didn't seem too bad! I really like the idea of that controller that the Daydream comes with.
Also the lower rez screen may have the added benefit of not taxing the GPU/CPU to badly so that the FPS stays decent.
We don't even have needed horse power.

Now that 7 is out - has anyone tried testing this yet?
No daydream not compatible with android 7.0 unlocked version, I tried on retin channel
You can force it if you have root by changing a couple of lines of XML but I doubt the 625 processor is going to do very well. An 808 is going to be the minimum I'd say and it won't last long until it desolders itself. Runs great on the pixel XL of course. I got it going on the OnePlus 3t which is 1080 and it's not too bad. Even the 820 gets super hot. The 821 does better but it was only pushing 1080 and not 1440.

How can I make it work on a Moto Z Play? What XML file do I need to change?
This is how I got it working on the OPO 3T.

I don't have /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml on my phone. Running Oreo 8.1.0, should I downgrade to Nougat (7.1.2)?

[Q] Sony XA1?

My LG K20 has a broken screen and apps constantly crying about not being able to update because of the lack of internal memory (16GB).
It's time to upgrade but I am trying to get off AT&T as well, so I am trying keep this manageable as doing so is already more than my car payment.
This phone came up on Tom's Guide and Sony phones aren't foreign to me at all, but when seeking other options, this phone isn't mentioned among the best at around $200, it finishes behind the Honor 7X and G5 Plus Amazon edition.
I am not picky over some of device features as I use my phone mainly for productivity, not social media or media consumption. I would like enough memory for my apps, play some emulated games, maybe a Rockstar game or two and takes decent pictures which is apart of my job.
Is there any reason I should consider this rather than the others I mentioned?
The XA1 is a great device! I can fully recommend! Its camera is very impressive. And 32 GB internal storage are enough for some basic apps and some rockstar games. BTW - performance is great.!
