MUST INCLUDE QUALCOMM or MEDIATEK TO COMMENTS OR THREAD TITLE - Moto E4 Guides, News, & Discussion

* * * ATTENTION MOTO E4 USERS * * *
Since the Moto E4 has TWO variants (Qualcomm and Mediatek) PLEASE include YOUR variant in the title of your thread or mention your variant in
your comment to reduce confusion within the threads. Here are a few examples:
Comment Examples: I can no longer open photos on my Mediatek device running latest build" or "Can I install Xposed on my Qualcomm Moto E4?"
Thread Examples: "I need help figuring out why my Qualcomm Moto E4 won't boot up." or "Where can I find the latest GApps and Viper Audio links for my
Mediatek Moto E4?"
Qualcomm variants have THEIR OWN Development section. Please ONLY post Qualcomm variant threads and comments in this section. (adding variant to comment or thread title not required in Development section)
Mediatek variants have THEIR OWN Development section. Please ONLY post Mediatek variant threads and comments in this section. (adding variant to comment or thread title not required in Development section)
BOTH variants share ALL other Moto E4 sections, which is why adding Qualcomm or Mediatek is so important.
To increase the visibility, chance of receiving an answer, or response to your thread or post, you can also add these tags; [QUALCOMM] or [MEDIATEK]
Please follow the above instructions to remain compliant with Forum Rules:
"2. Post using a clear and descriptive subject and message."
Following this will GREATLY REDUCE the confusion within the threads due to the differences in the Qualcomm / Mediatek variants.
Thank you.

Define the difference
Would you edit this post to explain how to tell which one you have? Many people simply don't know the difference.

Lists of model numbers vs. CPU manufacturers
I don't yet own an E4 (or an E4 plus) but I'm thinking of buying one, so I've done a bit of research to find out what's what. I made the following 2 lists so I'm sharing them with you. The info came from:
http://www.phonemore.com
http://phonedb.net/
http://www.gsmchoice.co.uk
https://www.mobosdata.com
https://www.devicespecifications.com
and yes, there are conflicting reports about hardware specifications (for example, https://www.mobosdata.com says that the XT1768 is a mediatek device!)
Anyway, here are the lists:
moto e4 (2017):
XT1760: MediaTek (Indonesia, India)
XT1761: MediaTek (Europe)
XT1762: MediaTek (Europe/Russia)
XT1763: MediaTek (Brasil)
XT1764: MediaTek (Mexico?)
XT1765: MediaTek (USA MetroPCS)
XT1766: Qualcomm (USA Sprint)

XT1773: MediaTek (Brasil)
XT1774: Qualcomm (USA/Canada)
XT1775: Qualcomm (USA/Canada)
XT1776: Qualcomm (USA/Canada)
Remember, I don't yet have one of these, so I've just got this info from those websites that I've linked to above. Feel free to correct any errors if you want. HTH.
Corrections:
20180120: XT1762 regions changed from Africa/Brasil/Pakistan to Europe/Russia, thank you @KevMetal
20180120: XT1766 changed from MediaTek (Europe) to Qualcomm (USA Sprint), thank you @madbat99

G4C H522Y MTK Mode

I have 2 H522T stuck in mtk mode.
What tool can flash them ?
Since you have the mediatek version of them, I have no idea. Maybe ask around in some mediatek chipset subforums?
Any news ?

is the SM-G960U (US model) still boot locked?

Has there been any progress rooting the US version of the S9 (Snapdragon chipset), or is the only rootable version still the F model with the Exynos chipset?
Have any of the later US versions (S10, etc) been successfully rooted?
It is still bootlocked unfortuantely.
Thanks. It can be hard to find clear info, since the forums aren't sortable by chipset/sub-model, only by the commercially advertised name.
Thanks for the help!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...s-recoveries--other-development/root-t4041815

Is there any SM-N975 variant with the qualcomm 855 that can be rooted?

I am looking for a Note 10+ from any US provider with the Qualcomm 855 chipset. Have any been successfully rooted?
No
Playa cat - might want to keep watch on this thread. If and when anything does avail itself for the N975U and N975U1 you will undoubtedly find an announcement made.

Crossflash to SM-G770U???

Hello I ordered an S10 Lite (SM-G770F/DS), but I see the US version (SM-G770U) has more bands available for T-Mobile, 66,71
Is there anyway to crossflash the dual sim to the US model using a patched Odin? Has anyone tried?
Besides the difference in ram they should be same Snapdragon 855 chipset
