Help getting U.S. Spec Sync 3 Navigation to work in Europe? - Connected Car

Hello everyone,
I've recently moved to Germany and had my U.S. spec Ford Edge with Sync 3 shipped over. Unfortunately, navigation doesn't work and the Germany Ford dealerships have said there's nothing they can do aside from removing the entire system and shipping it to a third party for over $1,000 and 2 weeks worth of work to get it to function. I'm of the opinion that there's cheaper (found things for around 249 euro but still requires removing the entire unit and shipping it to another country) and easier ways to do this but have no idea how.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

US Spec Ford Explorer
Where you ever able to find a solution? I ordered a US Spec Ford Explorer and thought it would be an easy addon to include EU maps.

hello, I'm making EU Sync3 USA maps without pulling out the radio. The radio condition must have the NAV icon. Price: 300Euro

T-mobile mda compact iii for sale

Hi all,
i have my mda compact 3 for sale. its a UK version on tmobile. it has the pdaviet black and blue operating system on it. i think its version 4.0 (not sure but can be checked).
Supplying with all the bit in the box and a 2gb memory card. the reason for sale is that i have now purchased a t-mobile mda compact iii so this handset is no longer used. I bought this phone in August this year and has 1 mark on it in the right hand corner on the bottom.
I belive the handset still has warranty (as long as you replace the operating system back to t-mobile software. Its a nice phone but i just needed the 3g as i use the web n walk alot.
I am looking to get £200 for it.
Please contact me if you are interested. ([email protected])
i can deliver the handset as long as its not too far from me or we can meet half way or if none is possible i can post out special recorded delivery only within the UK (but this is only if the distance is too great).
If i have posted in the wrong part of the website or am not supposed to post this then please let me know as i will gladly remove the thread if need be.
Thank you
Sam

What's the difference? (HTC / O2 / T-mobile)

Ok, so I know the obvious differences in that the O2 & T-mobile require you to sign up to contract and dump a load of their own branded software on the phone, but is that all there is when it comes down to it?
I used the Vario 2 for ages but jacked it in a few months back because I got fed up with it's clunkiness. Only now I need something to take it's place. Obviously I'm posting here so I'm looking at the HTC P3300 (or a contract one). Problem is I've still got 4-months left on my curent contract so I have to buy off-contract so to speak.
So back to the original question, given the HTC P3300 is roughly £100 more to buy compared to T-mobile / O2 realeases (roughly £200 on Eay) which is the better option? Frankly, I'm tempted to stump up the extra because I thought the Vario 2 I had previously was pretty dam slow with all the T-mobile stuff on it but then I'm as well versed in the ins and outs as some of you guys are so what do ya think?
T-Mobile has no WLAN.
And at least for HTC there are two packages, one with TomTom + Maps for Western Europe, car holder & charger and one without.
I believe O2 Germany had the big package, but I'm not sure.

No wifi? I hadn't realised that! Seems a bit like a no brainer then
Actually, come to think of it, I am correct in my understanding that I can just plug my T-Mobile sim into this and as long as I configure appropiately I should be able to get it to work?
if you use a non-simlocked device this is correct.
There is the question of styling, which is of course personal. However, I think the Orbit is much prettier which is why I got one. Everyone to their own, tho'

Yes, this is true and I agree but then I think I'd feel a bit of a twit using the O2 model on a T-mobile contract
O2UK ones are unlocked.
You could buy it from eBay or get it on contract from O2, CID unlock it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242) and then flash any ROM you wanted from the collection on this site or elsewhere.

[Q] buying note 2014 in another country

Hi,
I'm considering getting a note 10.1 2014, and may have the chance to pick one up in Hong Kong in the next few months. I've never bought a gadget from another country before though - and wondered if anyone can advise me on the implications of this, whether it affects usability or if there are any other reasons it's not a good idea.
Many thanks,
Andii

I've bought tons of Samsung devices from other countries for use in the U.S. My N10.1-14 is from Latin America. The biggest downside is you'll give up your warranty completely unless you send it back to HK for repair. I've stayed away from Asian imports because Western market devices allow you to interchange s/w whereas some of the Eastern devices don't. Maybe someone from Asia can offer more insight.
You need to make sure what you bought! They also have many "smuggle" from europe, and US. Which most of the US model is "14 days return" item. (I guess europe is the same but I dont know their policy.) Yes smuggle is cheaper.
If you buying HK model, then you dont care this. but if you want to buy the smuggle product, please note that some of them may change the original bettery, or is used item. To ID it, is check the SIM card slot, and USB port. If is new then good to go. For bettery, I don't know how to check is real or fake.

Galaxy s9 live demo

Hello Experts,
I have messed up I need some expert advice. I just bought an S9 live demo. I tried to installed stock filmware and now it is not working. It says installed unauthorized software and now it is not working please someone help me. How can I fix this issue.
How did you buy a live demo phone? Many times these phones don't even have all the hardware like the modem or antennas, plus many are stolen. You can't get support here for a possible stolen unit.
You can get demo units of phones in certain countries and online. I think they can be made to work as retail units. I don't know how.
If it's anything like the S7, there is no Modem in the demo units, and the Fingerprint reader didn't work
So no way to make calls or texts
You could however just flash the F firmware to them to remove the limits of the demo firmware iirc
did the sim card work?
here in Cyprus, they are using normal phones with the stock rom! and if there is no availability the offer you the demo mode(which is a normal phone 100% fully working) at lower price and beter warranty(from store)
try your luck by talking to the person you bought it or from Samsung directly!

Indepently bought SM-R805 watch (UK), pairing to S7 on EE (UK) - Work out the box?

Good Morning All,
I appreciate this is a little away from the development side (well it is and it isnt, depending on whether I have to hack it lol) but would really appreciate the expertise from the group.
I have been asking in Samsung and EE and neither can answer the question - as usual just fob me off to the other party...
If I go into Argos or similar store in the UK today and buy this "Samsung Galaxy Cellular 46mm Smart Watch (SM-R805)", take it home and pair it up with my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which has a SIM only 4G EE Contract (in UK), will the watch now work on its own, via 4G? - This is my main question/concern.
2nd question - do I need to get EE to do anything and/or pay them extra every month?
Its very important to me that the watch can pickup telegram notifications and emails without me having to have the phone on me (hence buying the cellular model). EE just want to sell me the watch + £14 pcm contract as they dont sell them outright.
From reading posts in this group all morning, I am getting the impression it should work out of the box without having to visit EE or pay them any extra. If Ive understood the various threads, the only complications is when pairing a watch with a non EE phone and/or in a different country? Thats when firmware changes and editors come into play
Thanks in advance for your time, Mark
