(question) Nova Launcher At a Glance Widget - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
Does anyone know how to get the new Pixel XL 2 at a glance widget on Nova Launcher? I have no idea if it's supported or I have to wait for an update or something, just haven't seen anything on it. I tried installing Nova Launcher and it's not there.

I could've sworn I saw a setting for this in the Display settings but I'd have to go back and look. Have you tried enabling this while using Nova as the primary launcher? It may not be possible and requires you using the Pixel Launder and Nova will need to add that feature.

I could've sworn there was a toggle in the Display settings. I'd have to go back and look. Have you tried enabling that while using Nova Launcher. It might be that you need to use the Pixel Launcher in order for this feature to work and Nova would just need to add this.

Of course I do just not with Nova launcher enabled

Zooper widgets + Trident 3 pack can give you that.

Hi, I just made the At A Glance widget for KWGT app. It's free and should work on any device/launcher. It isn't really tested it on any other device than mine, so I'd be glad if anyone tried it out. See the thread I just started: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/kwgt-glance-kwgt-t3694513

I believe this should give you what you are looking for. Updated regularly.

The existing version of Google app has a beta widget for "At a glance".

Nice. Don't think I've seen or heard about this.

@EeZeEpEe: It was rather low key news, but it was mentioned on the XDA portal, along with a download link to the beta Google app that housed it. It graduated and now is in the release version. It makes me happy too: not only is it one less app I have to install (Another Widget), but Another Widget has issues displaying weather correctly.

Yeah another widget did okay but I noticed the weather was off too. Would say one temperature and tapping it I would get a different one.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread but did anyone find out how to change the options for the at a glance widget?
The widget is available in 3rd party launchers but I can't for the life of me find any way to adjust what it shows.
Any help greatfully appreciated

currently we just can set the lockscreen wallpaper only. Even using the 3rd party launcher, we cannot set the wallpapers...
I really don't get this from amazon, this is 2014 , and we still cannot just customize the wallpaper ? ha ha
Use Vire Launcher.

Vire launcher does not let you change wallpapers... You can change the theme and the background will change with it, but you can't change to custom backgrounds...
Unless someone else found a way to do so?

Buzz launcher offers full custom background support, and makes it feel more like an android device. Also, if you haven't already, get the playstore... None of this requires a root. Instructions are here:

Still better than the terrible stock Fire Launcher though... And all the launchers that DO support widgets are stuck with an UGLY plain black background! At the moment, buzz launcher is the best option, until someone either develops a new launcher, or updates an existing one to make the "background" to not be dependent on the system background, but rather be an image placed ON TOP of said background. This would in effect bypass the whole "No background" problem.

Once I installed the Google Launcher and playstore I didn't feel held back anymore from the phone and switched back to the Amazon Launcher. It's my preferred launcher now. I recommend everyone give it a true shot. I just wish they gave us an option out of the box as I feel more people would have tried it out then.
Default wallpaper is cool, i think its not necesary to change it

You can only use built in widgets but launcher lab works great and has many themes like themer, have been using it for a month with no forced closes.
Buzz has been the most stable for me themer crashed a lot I'm stock unlocked also glove box dock is really nice on here

You can change your background now if you have updated to version 4.6.1 You can choose from some wallpapers or your own photo. If not, then try Buzz Launcher, which is the only launcher that i've found so far that has a customizable background. Hope this helps!
I am using nova launcher prime 4.0.1 I think and I have wallpapers/widgets working.
Google Now launch lets you change wallpapers and most widgets seem to work fine.

Weather Widget

Hello,
I have downloaded and flashed the newest Malaysk ROM. I want to know if I can change the stock weather app, which you can see in the stock widget, because it is not working properly. Do you have a modified weather app or another one which I can put in the stock widget. I don't want to use an app with an alternative widget.
Sorry for my bad english.

No it is no possible. This 'weather widget' is not widget at all but built-in to JY launcher.
Also the weather uses Yahoo servers and reportedly there is some issue with servers, so we hope it will be resolved in due time.

You may try and post results here.
Ooh, I literally just installed my new head unit and was wondering about this. As long as the servers get sorted soon so that the weather widget actually works then that will be great!

If I understood good this Russian forum, it is implemented as standard widget in this launcher. So if you install it, possibly try to install it as normal application not to replace system launcher, then it may have that widget available to any other launcher you choose.

It works, but has 1024 resolution. As said above you can select your own widgets to be placed
where you like them to be. I hope there will be a 800 version soon.
Does it have a way of hidding status bar?
And, obviously I have to go back home after picking audio source correct? How does it handle previous audio source, does it turn it off before the new one is enabled? Looks interesting, and the media buttons only affect the selected source?
And what about Pandora, Spotify and other 3rd party players, can they be added to this? Both have widgets...

Unfortunately you cant choose the widget in another launcher.
Is it possible to make a new apk which looks like the one attached and has the widget from the russian forum?
Also it would be good if you have on one side the weather widget and on the other side the widget which changes between weather, radio, etc.
Also, I tested it and it wouldnt change radio stations. I could only press the station number and radio would open, but that's what the radio icon is for... LOL
Sticking with Next Launcher, never seen a nicer launcher since Apex Launcher.

Not liking the new Google app circular icons.................

Anyone else not a big fan of the boring circular google icons on the Pixel?
How can I go back to the Marshmallow icons instead? I've searched the GPS and just find icons that you have to use with specific launchers. I don't want to change the stock Pixel launcher as I've grown to like it. Used to be a die hard Nova prime user on my Nexus 6.
Any recommendations for just swapping out the Google application icons to Marshmallow?

New Pixel 2 XL Owner

Hello all....
I just switched to the Pixel 2 XL from being with Motorola Phones for the last 18 years.
It was a welcomed change but a different experience for sure.
Since getting my Pixel I have made the following changes:
Downloaded:
Nove Launcher Prime - Changing the Home Screen, Dock and Drawer
Pixelation Icon Pack - I just wanted a few more options from stock
Motorola Command Center Weather Widget - Well because I like it
Zooper Widgets - To add the date to my home screen
I really like the Pixel Launcher that came with the phone but the Google Search Bar was driving me crazy so that's what lead me to XDA. Looking for workarounds on moving this bar.
I was also looking at possibly downloading the Android P Beta 3 but was not sure if that would be over my head or not.
So for I am really liking this Phone. Really wanted to wait until the Pixel 3 XL came out but had to make a move so hear I am.
Any feedback or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
There is a ton of info on here it just gets crazy trying to jump all over looking for answers.
Thanks for taking a look and have a good day,
Rodney
Welcome to the party. If you are wanting to try Android P, I would start by reading here

Nova launcher will remove the Google search bar it's part of the launcher I use to really like it until Oreo came out then I prefer Google's launcher
This may not be true but I prefer to stay stock in sense of launchers and skins because otherwise I feel it's a little bloaty and feels like the phone slows down a bit more then other apps I own.

Welcome to the party! Obviously there are alternate launchers but if you like the functionality of the pixel launcher try 'LawnChair' it's currently in alpha but from what I've heard it's pretty stable.

I have had the same issue with weather coming and going at random with Nova launcher. I mentioned it in the Nova launcher for Google + but did not get any feedback on a fix. Would love a fix if anyone has one. Nova launcher is my go to launcher but in the Nova Google + all they said was to use a weather app and widget. I have other weather apps but don't need another app for something that Google already provides and works perfect for what I need.
For me works without problem, in AOD show weather. I'm use nova prime
