Would you buy oneplus 5T/6?? - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

If the oneplus 5T/6 is the same as the oneplus 5, just with no bezels and waterproofing, would you buy it?

No bezels and waterproofing makes it not the same. With a new screen means no jello effect so it would definitely make me purchase one again. I'd hopefully a bigger battery and 1440p screen as well.

No is too big for me.
I am already already with the 5.5 inches overstrained but as far as first will be with the remain.

Nope, I like the bezels and the current design of the O5.

Well if oneplus 5T comes out then Op6 is coming in 6 months or so its not worth upgrading from Op5 to Op5T.

Nothing out today is worth upgrading to. Maybe next year.

If not more expensive than the OP5, there's a lot of chances. (not owning a OP5 currently, wanted to but it's out of stock)

Wow, that's not even a question I'm buying the 5t as soon as I can click submit on the order page. Then I'll sell my 5 later, then when the 6 drops I'm gonna attend early drop & hopefully I can decipher the code quick enough to get the big bundle half off. So yes, I'm getting any phone, that's a upgrade, that oneplus releases. I'm on iT, it's so easy to resell a OnePlus phone too, after you buy your upgrade sell the old one when you find a good buyer, for example I bought the 5 first, then listed my midnight black 3t for 420 on Craig's list 8 days later it sold, Same with my oneplus 2 I sold it for 150 3 months ago. OnePlus is the business. Their phones are popular so people buy them used all the time, you can have your cake & eat it to. Get the 5t & the 6 Bros

Its a waste of money if you have a 5 already. The hardware will be exactly the same minus a different design.

One Plus was previously caught making phony posts on various sites to create enthusiasm for upcoming phones. Does this post seriously sound legitimate to anyone? Not only does this sound like a corporate commercial but posts almost identical to this one turned up on XDA a couple months ago when rumors of the 5T first surfaced.
If there is an OP5T the resale value of the OP5 will likely drop by 70-80% overnight because most people aren't going to want to purchase an OP5 with a defective display if there is an OP5T without the defect. Anyone who thinks this phone will have good resale value is nuts.

Most people don't even know what "Jelly Effect" is or even will notice it.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Probably not for me. The vertical space in the screen is minimial when you take into fact that you have to use the nav bar on the bottom now instead of the capacitive buttons, and then then the finger print scanner moves to the back, too. So basically you get an extra 1/4 inch of usable screen, plus I prefer the finger print/home where it is.
It'll be nice for videos and games, and water proofing is nice (if it has that), but I think I'll just wait another 7 or so months for a real upgrade. But who knows. Maybe I'll become envious and buy one!

I'm still rocking the OPOne, I was hoping to upgrade to the 5 when it was released, but the outdated design and lack of waterproofing, made me hold off. If the 5t/6 has the larger screen ratio and waterproofing, I'm in. I'd really like the main camera to have OIS though. Was leaning towards the LG V30 before the 5t rumors began.
1080 x 2160 vs 1440 x 2880 pixels (FHD vs QHD) and the pixel density has me a little concerned, will wait to see the reviews just in case.

If the 5T/6 releases as OP describes (no difference other than waterproofing and minimal bezels) then it's definitely a no go for me

Listen I really like the OnePlus phone I don't appreciate being accused of some Peddler pushing to OnePlus phone I love the OnePlus phone it makes me very very very happy and the discussion

No, One+ is supposed to be the cheap flagship killer. At $800Aud the 128 version was too much but I bit the bullet. Granted it is cheaper, in comparison , to the new flagships coming out, but the price is getting ridiculous....
It is a good phone but the lack of a memory card is the killer for me.
Like the RAM, camera is OK but definitely not the best.
If I was paying around the $500 for it I might be a bit more lenient but I still want my sd card...
One thing, love the fact it isn't a glass phone that MUST be wrapped in bubble wrap and cotton wool to make sure it doesn't get shattered or scratched with use but this still isn't a reason to get another One+...

Yeah, me personally, I'd be happy with great features and build quality, and skimp a little on CPU to lower the cost.
Give me the snapdragon 660/670 with 6GB of Ram, OIS camera, IP68, QHD+ and a tough metal backing.

Was wanting the pixel 2 xl but price killed it.. I lile the higher res screens .. and currently have a nexus 6.. so anything smaller screen wise wont do.. so this looks promising.. how does the current 5 work with Verizon? Saw the price drop on the Essential but seems to be plagued with network issues on Verizon. Also no root yet... Ouch

Yes, at a decent price and with the display mounted correctly (no jello effect...)

You gotta live under a rock to be on a hundred and thirty dollar a month family plan, sign up for 2 years and get not 1 but 2 free Nexus S's. If he is the one that ended up with my GSII hopefully that's his wake up call. I'm about to call him and tell him to tell wirefly to keep the nexus and send him GSII's lol. I got his number. I feel sorry for him.

I would hit them hard on shipping and on % taking off the price of my device. I would let them know how desperate I was for this phone and how upset the contents of this package made me. We'd be on the phone for about a hour talking that one out because now I have to wait for the device to be shipped again?
I would even slide in a BB complaint if they didn't feel like coming to an agreement with me. This is a pretty large mistake. One a company shouldn't make with a high end device during it's first week of demand.
Edit: I misunderstood. So they are having you take care of the problem? Is it local? And yea, I would try to have wirefly send them 2 GSII's. That would be one very confused family to find one phone in their box.

The other family ordered two Nexus S's not GSII's, I have them. About to ship them back to wirefly. Instead of receiving two Nexus S's they received a single ET4G. I hope they open it up and fall in love with it and cancel their order and order two ET4G's instead. It's a shame their signing 2 year agreements with the previous model.

Got a one plus one invite, should I use it, or give it away?

Looking for quick feedback. This phone is nice, but I like the "flagship killer" as well. Just that I really don't feel like dropping any money right now, abd this phone is still pretty nice.

By the way, if you are coming from a Note 3, it's a tough decision. Both are close in power, with the Oneplus having just a slight edge. However, the Note 3 has a bigger and nicer looking screen. Likewise, the camera on the Note 3 is said to be better than the oneplus.
If you like Cyanogenmod then definitely go with the oneplus one! Hope this helps make your decision easier.

Could someone please send me a invite at [email protected]. Really dying to have hands on this damn pretty thing. Thanks in advance.
I gave my invite away. I would use maybe have used it if it had Wifi Calling. It's a side-grade from the Note 3 overall at best even putting that aside.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Samsung plans to sell refurbished Galaxy Note 7 handsets, according to a new report.
After two dramatic recalls, termination of manufacturing, and a plea for customers to turn off all Note 7 handsets forever, it was safe to assume Samsung had killed off its latest flagship for good. But a report from The Investor, the Korea Herald’s business blog, suggests that Samsung isn’t quite done with its most fiery phone.
Reporters at the publication, which is based on Samsung’s South Korean home turf, believe that Samsung may begin selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 handsets as soon as 2017. One industry source is quoted as saying: “Samsung has not made a final decision yet, but it will likely sell the refurbished Note 7 units next year.”
According to the report, Samsung will likely target emerging markets like India and Vietnam, where low-end phones are typically popular. The Note 7 is a seriously expensive handset, but it’s likely Samsung will drop the price significantly considering the phone’s reputation, and the fact that they’re refurbished models. This would be an excellent chance for Samsung to rid itself of spare Note 7 stock, and recoup some cash in the process.

samsung galaxy note 7
Samsung first recalled the Galaxy Note 7 on September 2 after an internal investigation uncovered a serious battery flaw that was causing some users’ handsets to explode. The phone maker then had to issue a second recall after it emerged that some replaced handsets were also exploding. The Galaxy Note 7 is now no longer available to purchase, with Samsung reportedly focusing all attention on next year’s Galaxy S8.
Samsung is expected to release its next flagship phone in February or March next year, with a Galaxy Note 8 model confirmed to be coming later in 2017.
Unfortunately, Samsung declined to comment on this article.

After they have safely deleted all the data from ex owners I suppose?
I hope this is true. Most likely they would be using a smaller battery and different battery design. I could live with that. I am still using my N7 - I would turn it in for a "refurb" N7 gladly.

Smaller battery? Most phones of similar caliber coming onto the market have MUCH larger batteries. Mate 9 Pro, for instance, is what, 5000mAh
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

None of the other phones have a curved screen with the battery curved on the edges to fit snug up to the curves of the display. So I said smaller battery so give a little more room for Samsung to use a more conventional battery shape. Just a guess I am making. Maybe they found some other kind of reason that was causing the very rare instance of thermal overload. Who knows. If they are really going to be selling refurbed N7's, then that means that they most likely figured out the issue and are confident they have it fixed.

No, as I have the one I want now. And doubtful we ever see the above phone in the US anyway. I actually am not a big fan of the edge display, but I am a big fan of the basically bezeless display on the sides that the edge screen allows.

Nope. As with many things electronics if you wait a day, week, month, year, something better will come along. One can either choose to wait and wait for the newest best thing and never buy anything, or they can buy now and not worry about it. As with many things as new products are introduced existing products are reduced in price (or discontinued).
The rumored specs of the soon to be released new Moto phones have been circulating for a few months now. One could have waited to buy the new phone if they wanted. <shrugs>
My only concern with Moto introducing so many different models of phones is their support (firmware updates, bug fixes) for all phones will suffer. In typical Motorola fashion, the updates/fixes for the Moto G5 Plus are already lagging months behind.

This is not planned obsolescence. Releasing a successor to this device does not change a single thing about this devices performance or usability.

Yeah, the thing is, it still kinda is. They know people want the newest, best stuff. No reason that the G5 plus couldn't of had these little extra features they've added to the G5S. But this way, they get even more money out of people because they know they will buy it.

No, it isn't. The device still has the same specs. Just because something came out with the same price and slightly higher specs doesn't mean our phones have been downgraded. It doesn't change the performance of the phone. What they ARE doing, however, is taking advantage of people's lack of self control and tech addictions. They can come out with a SD835, 6GB RAM model tomorrow for $50 less than what I paid for my G5 plus and I wouldn't care the slightest bit. I love my devices and I love technology, but if you always have to have the absolute best technology or absolute best deal at all points in time, you will never be happy and will constantly complain when technology moves forwards and you failed to predict the next item being released.
Not really, we all knew what we got when we bought this phone. Its not an powerhouse, it doesn't have the best camera, its just a good decent phone. If they slapped the Lenovo tag on it it wouldn't be such a big deal.
It's still a good phone that you can easily use for 2 years. Plus the specs are nearly the same so I am guessing the software is going to be pretty close together too. If they just keep rolling out updates I really don't see the problem.

If it was the same spec it would be called the Moto G5 Plus, clearly there are differences to make it yet another model.
So then, bigger screen, better camera(s) full metal body and the same price as what the G5 Plus was.
We've been shafted lads and lasses.

You can always sell your G5 Plus and buy the G5S Plus, no big deal

You are talking cobblers fella, even in the world of technology 6 months is a short period of time for a product to be superseded, not even greedy Apple have the balls to pull that stunt.

Oneplus did, Samsung did, HTC did. 6 months is long in the world of tech, sometimes in a couple weeks something better is out

6 months is a very long time in the tech world. Most flagship device at least comes down one third in price in 6 months. In comparison I have to say that g5 retained some good value.
Moreover I am not seeing it as a big update either.

No not really... This phone works fine and it'll continue working fine even when that new model comes out.
In my opinion it's not a replacement of the g5 plus but it's a different phone in the same lineup. For example I haven't considered the g5 plus because of the screen that is too small for me, but I'm definitely considering to buy this one.
I'm just waiting to see how the g5s plus performs in real life and how much community support it will have.
Sorry to resuscitate such an old thread but I was just wondering how hard it would be to port a ROM over for the g5s+ or if there might be Dev support for it. The specs look EXACTLY the same except for the better camera and bigger display. If there will be Dev support I might be interested in buying one as they're on sale for the holidays.
Why do people say the S plus is a better camera?
Just because it has two doesn't make it better.

Right! From all reports I've seen, the G5S+ camera does not perform well. However, I understand the camera 2 api is enabled on that device, so I'm very annoyed that it's not on the G5+. But in hardware terms, the G5S+ is a big yawn, for me.
As far as I'm concerned dual cameras are nothing but a gimmick, in most cases. There are a few implementations that work well, but most are hit or miss. Coupled with a screen that's larger than I want, it all adds up to an unappealing package. Obviously, others' mileage varies.

I had the mate 10 pro and sold it because of huawei is to slow in updates. If the software have a problem, you shoul wait for months. Also no rom or kernel support because of kirin. Oneplus 5t just rocks.

I love my one plus 5t lava red and my one plus 6 red but over 3 years straight I have been deeply taken back by Huawei honors innovation, creativity and their totally and vastly different approach to the mobile industry just as much as the totally different but brilliance of EMUI. I remember the very first day I got my first taste of Huawei honors EMUI and this is coming from a apple user die hard for many years until about a year I spent a year and half purposely with Android exclusively as I write professionally and I also write under the profile name [email protected]@MobileTechNow free Lance. Even won a couple contests and awards early last year for articles about Huawei EMUI and recognized nationally for the content I published. Their updates are very slow but if you notice only a secret few mobile companies send out updates soon after Google does for the pixel and a lot of the slow or seemingly lack of updates in a timely manner has as much to do with Google as the company whom are sending them out. It's either Google's way or the highway basically. Take a deeper look into it and you will see what I speak of. Google much like apple wants to dictate their own profit margins and for the most part both companies do so. Huawei honor relates to what I just said because they are and will be eventually just a matter of time now and I'm talking 5 months as I mean 3 plus years up to 5 Max but Huawei will not be in the Android network platform or however you'd like to call it as they will become third own entity and already well over half way there. All these major tech tubers who totally bash EMUI whom think they truly know more than all of us miss the entire target board they shoot at. EMUI is not Android nor was ever created with intent to be Android or anything like it. It's the only Android software that has a so called heavy huge skin say like Samsung does but the difference is Samsung is rains atop of the lag mountain not one time in over the three years straight I've interacted with EMUI has their software which compared to Samsung's software skin is 4 times heavier yet they are able to give the user a just as smooth and seamless OS as apple has. Long to short within the next few years the entire mobile industry will be impacted with change when Huawei reaches what their plan has been and what they already are in the process of doing and building to be prepared fully to bring their vision to life or fruition. Much more I could write but I'm pressed for time. I'll digress but possibly elaborate in detail another time
