Yes, there is a volume icon on the right side of the Google Maps screen that you can tap to toggle the 3 sound options: no sounds/mute, alerts only, and all sounds on. I usually keep mine on alerts only when I'm driving familiar areas and turn on sound when I need to listen to turn-by-turn directions when traveling to new places.

Low Navigation volume in Jelly Bean?

Hi,
Have anyone noticed how low the TTS voice is in Navigation? I usually have a music app playing in the background while using Navigation. After upgrading to JB, I could barely hear the new TTS girl's voice. Is there a setting that I need to change? The volume level was maxed out. So...
Thanks for your input.
Same here. Barely audible!

Google probably took to heart that we always complain about our Wives and GF always yelling at us and telling us where to go
Seriously though - mine is pretty quiet as well... Maybe the volume + App?
Hi Guys,
I had this problem too but now I realise that my text to speech is entirely gone!
It works everywhere else, in Google now, Google voice actions etc. I'm not sure what's wrong.
One thing though is that I'm using Urvana's Google Maps which unlocks navigation in my country. I am not sure if cause it's not an official Google map which is why it can't connect to text to speech, though I doubt it since I did initially had voice navigation even after installing Jellybean.
I noticed this last time I was driving with gps on. I figured I would just turn down the volume on the music on the phone and turn up the volume on my car. Haven't had an opportunity to try it yet, though.

[Q] Link Notifcations and Ringtone Volume

I'm starting to get annoyed of the fact that i have to got to the setting to change the NOTIFICATIONS volume, where as i can adjust the RINGTONE volume just by using the Volume rocker.
Is there a way to do this without installing any app, i can live with flashing MODS, TWEAKS, or ADD-ONS...
When you turn up/down the volume in homescreen or just outside the apps dont you get expendable bars for other volumes?

I was looking around for a way to do this last night and came across "Settings Extended" in Google Play. You can link Ringer and Notifications through the app, which changes the way the rocker works since when you adjust the Ringer Volume using the rocker it now adjusts notifications too.
I also added a Wifi Hotspot toggle and Flashlight toggle to my Notifications bar for easy access to those options through the same app. Pretty pleased with it.

[Q] Volume in Google Maps (Navigation)

My apologies if this has been asked in the past... my research suggests that it's an old issue.
I am having a problem getting the volume from the Google Maps GPS to be equal to other sound output. Example, when I am listening to music from Google Music and I have turn-by-turn navigation on, when instructions are spoken to me they come in at about twice the volume as my music. I know that in the past Google used to have separate volume levels for navigation and other applications but that seems to have been removed for a few years.
In short, has anyone else been able to find a way to adjust the navigation volume separate from the main volume? I was thinking that maybe Waze handles navigation volume differently... maybe I'll try that.
Thank you
I too would like an answer to this question.
It makes using my phone for car audio really uncomfortable.

Override Do Not Disturb

Hi all,
I have updated my Pixel 2 XL to Android Pie, and I think I've got my head around the Do Not Disturb functionality. At present I want to see all notifications, but I want them all to be silent apart from Alarms. I've also set it so that media volume is muted in DND, as I find it really annoying when in DND and some advert on something, or a video blurts out loudly when you don't expect it.
This is all great, apart from when I hook my phone up to my car via bluetooth. Unless I take my phone off DND, I can't hear any music play via google music. Before Pie, I used to be able to have a seperate volume for bluetooth, but it now seems that everything is just muted and I can't alter the volumne unless I turn DND off, which I don't really want to do everytime I get in the car and never had to do before. I thought about setting google music to "override DND", but when I look at the notifications it is already set to override.
So, why isn't the music overriding the muted media of DND, and how can I get music to play without having to turn off DND when connected via bluetooth?
Hope that makes sense!
Chris

Music needs media volume. You muted it with DND so there's your reason. You can try not muting it with DND and just keeping the media volume low or manually muted. That's why they made the volume button to control media by default.

Media volume is muted by DND, Play music has override of DND, therefore it shouldn't be muted. Just doesn't make sense to me. I know I can just not have DND mute media, but that's not what I want here.

It does? Where? I don't see an override DND anywhere in Play Music settings.
Also, with Android Pie it remembers your Bluetooth volumes for each device. So if don't mute media, keep your media volume low but connected to your car or whatever Bluetooth, you'll get you volume back to what you had it.
In my case, a lot of times I actually mute my media and notifications because I get it on my watch. But when I connect to my car, I get all my Play Music fine without adjustments.

Go to Settings, then Apps & Notifications, Select Google Play Music, Select Notification, then Select Playback, Select Advanced and here you'll find Override Do No Disturb, which is on.
I understand what you're saying, just keep media on in DND, but keep it down low and have a different volume for Bluetooth, and that's exactly how I used to do it before Pie. But the problem comes from when you have watched a video at some point, forgotten to turn the volume back down, and then at some inappropriate time in DND sound blurts out. I was hoping that avoid that happening with the new media mute setting in DND but still have the bluetooth sound override that setting.
I'm not an android expert by any stretch of the imagination, just thought it was worth asking the question.

The keyword in your steps is "Apps & Notifications". The only thing that'll override DND with that setting is notifications coming from Google Play and not media volume.

microphone issue beta 1-2 OxygenOs10

So microphone seems to work in whatsapp calls but not on other apps like discord for example. Anyone got any fix?
Could be an adblocker.... My daughter couldn't use audio message on Snapchat and a few other apps and after removing from her adguard firewall all started working again. It's a longshot but hope you get it fixed

Could you please explain how exactly to do that? Are you referring to OK Google detection or what?
just disable "hey google" and you can use assistant via navigation gestures or power button
