Issue w/ bluetooth when back glass panel is covered. - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

So, I received my pixel 2xl and one of the first things I did was connect it to my car infotainment system via Bluetooth. I noticed I had a lot of static during phone calls. Mind you I don't have this issue with my iPhone 6 or S8 plus connected to the system. I contacted Google and they sent me an email with steps to troubleshoot, still no go. While fiddling with the phone I noticed whenever anything covered the back glass panel I would notice the static even more. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Long story short Google is sending me a replacement (Sucks they had to hold $1000+ on my credit card to ensure they receive the original phone back lol)

I had this same issue with my 6p back in the day. When I would stream music to my bluetooth speaker at work it was fine but as soon as I had to crouch down or something with the phone in my pocket, the bluetooth would cut out. Google apparently puts all their eggs in that glass basket and if you cover it you get nothing.

Hmmmm I see. It's quite annoying. Glad they are sending another one. Hope it doesn't have the same issue.

Happens with last year's xl too.

After AT&T software update, audio output is crunchy with screen off

I've had my Note 7 since it was released on AT&T and actually love it. I was a bit reluctant to go back to Samsung after my Sony Z3Compact, but the Note 7 really wowed me.
As a commuter, I use the bluetooth audio 3 hours every day in the car and often either plug in headphones or use a set of bluetooth buds while I'm doing chores around the house. Until Saturday, audio output was phenomenal. Saturday I got a notification that there was a software update available, so I thought nothing of installing it. Since that time, my audio (BT, built-in speaker, or plugged in headphones) gets static-y when I have the screen off. Turn on the screen and everything sounds fantastic again. Short of reformatting the phone (or rooting and rom-ing, which I'm not even sure is an option yet), I've tried everything I can think to try to get this issue cleared up.
I'm willing to experiment, so throw your suggestions at me. I've searched around and haven't come up with any other users experiencing this issue. Any help is appreciated.
I've had this issue occasionally with my Tmobile Note 7. It hasn't received any updates yet. I noticed plugging in the charger also stops the problem.

More info: on the ride home today, I switched to Google Play Music and put on some music that would give me some pretty clean audio... No crunchiness,no static. Seems it may be related to Pocket casts.
I'll see if some setting or other got tripped.
Any suggestions on THAT are also welcome.
Aha! I may have it sorted now.
I had also bumped the playback speed of my podcasts to 3x (from 2.6), so I figured I would check to see if that's the cause and taking it back down to 2.7x seems to have fixed it!
Whomever is in charge of the things can close the thread.

Anyone who has sent their phone out for warranty work: what was the turn around time?

Looking for feedback from people that have had to mail out their Razer phone for warranty work. How long did it take to get it back?
I'm thinking about mailing mine off vs trying to fix it myself.
The issue I'm having is my speakers are crackling, even post "audio update" that reduced volume by around 30%. I can't get above 3\4 volume without having the speakers start crackling. What's strange is the crackle seems to be worse when orienting the phone to the side vs upright.
Both of them are doing it. Not sure if they are just dirty or they are blown, but when I first got my phone I would play most things at full volume often. I thought about pulling the speaker grills off since I read that sometimes the adheasive loosens and things vibrate but I wasn't sure how I was going to re stick them back down. Can't find replacement grills anywhere. Or replacement speakers for that matter. So I was going to send it in.

11 days round trip to Germany from UK ended up with factory replacement
The first time i sent my phone there it took 4 days to come back but the second time it took around 10 days. I asked why and they said "limited supplies" now i had sent 2 phones and both had speaker problems. The first was a heavily cracking bottom speaker after 3 weeks of use. The second one was both speakers weakening but not cracking and the third one has the same problem which is weird given that they advertized the speakers as good. Hopefully they fix this because i wanna buy razer phone 2

Pixel 3 XL Microphone not working?

Not sure if anyone else is running into this issue, but I just got a Pixel 3 XL delivered. After setting everything up, I discovered that the microphone doesn't seem to be working at all?
When calling someone, the person on the other end of the call can't hear me. Doing some tests with Assistant also seem to not be working.
Wondered if anyone else is having similar issues, or if I got a defective device. It's the Black 128GB.
I do have a second one showing up later today so will compare on that once I get it.
I had this issue with my original 2XL and it was a defective device. I'd start the replacement process.

Yeah, the other phone I got (White 128GB) worked fine. I also tried a full factory reset on the one that wasn't working and same thing.
Already contacted Google and set up a replacement. Hopefully this isn't a larger issue for other people.
No problem here. Sorry to hear that you have to send it back.

I have the same exact problem. Pixel 3 XL Clearly White 128GB. Callers can't hear me, unless it's on speakerphone. Google assistant also doesn't work.
Google support said, it would 15 days to get me a new phone - Verizon just returned it and sent me another.
I've had the exact same issues on my pixel 3. I just contacted Google and it went straight to an RMA.
Pixel 3 microphones not working
Hi, I have the exact same issue. The microphones work when recording a video but nothing at all in calls or with the assistant. Sounds like exactly the same problem as the Pixel 2...
I've only had the phone 3 days and Google said it would take 5-10 for a replacement through them, very ordinary. So I will try and take it back to the store I purchased from.
Black Pixel 3 in black.
Very disappointed for my first Pixel!
I had this happen to me also.
When cleaning up the phone for RMA, I sprayed it with compressed air. I sprayed the speakers, and lo and behold, the microphone worked again
I still sent it back.

Yup just happened to my pixel 3 XL as well. Only works on speakerphone, very weary on the reliability of this device! In process on getting a replacement from Google.

wow, so just for the heck of it, i tried this as well......and it fixed it, wtf???
You don't even need canned air. I just got my new Pixel 3 XL, and freaked out when the mic wasn't working. Came here. Canned air? Ain't nobody got time for that. Just slapped the microphone end of the phone against my shirt a few times (on my big fat belly), poof - working mic.
Still, it's not a good feeling buying a brand-new, quite expensive device and finding it has manufacturing defects, even if they are easy to McGyver.
This totally worked!!
Don't know how, but I said to myself, "F it, I'll give it a try". Lo and behold, two smacks on the belly, and the mic is working. Calls, Google Assistant, everything. Thanks a ton for the suggestion.

broo wtf worked for me too

After screen replacement, intermittent speaker performance.

The strangest thing happened. I had a professional install a brand new screen on my Pixel 2 XL and now most notifications don't come through and it doesn't ring and I only have the earpiece speaker. Music and videos only play through the earpiece speaker I don't get phone rings, email notifications for AquaMail, SMS/MMS the same. If I use a stock notification it comes through.
I am on Dirty Unicorns from July, Magisk, ElementalX.
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Nobody has any ideas, theories?

When they replace the screen, several ribbons have to be unplugged then plugged back in. Maybe something got damaged or disconnected.
The tech says it all looks good.. He owns a 500 employee cell phone repair shop across the country.

My screen was also replaced on Monday. No issues whatsoever, the screen also seems to be better than the original one with less blue shift.
No matter how many employees this guy has, he did something wrong! But I checked everything before I paid (speakers, cellular connection, GPS). Didn't you?

screen replacement of the screen is so easy, i did it last week by myself, and unfortunate the bottom speaker stopped working and the ear one start loud then dim by time until you can't hear anything..
i do some inspection and i find out that i knock out the bottom speaker transistors when i was unplug my old screen... the transistors is so tiny black peace beside the screen flex.
i don't know if this issue can be fixed or i need to change the whole main board !!! but am sure that is the thing happened to you too
i will send the phone for ismash to try to get it fixed so wish me luck

This might be the reason for my problem!

galaxy buds and S10+ issues

i think the buds are really good.... but I am now on my third pair, as the first two both malfunctioned, and i'm starting to wonder if its the buds or the phone. In . both cases, when new, I had equal stereo, but within a few days, I found the left side to be much quieter than the right side. One day they were fine. the next day they weren't, and they never returned to working properly. Identical experience on the first two sets. In both cases I had tried resetting them, removing and re-pairing them, messing around with loads of different galaxy buds and bluetooth parameters etc. Of course, I tried reversing them in the opposite ears, but it was the bud, not my ear! So now im on my third pair, and hoping they dont go wrong. Anyone else had these issues? Perhaps its the device itself?
enable disable absolute volume.
set volume to max on ur earbuds and never to change again. change the touch controls to some other function or lock it. control volume only via phone.

in case your buds were accidentally softened?

They weren't.
Well I can say that the other end of a call not being able to hear you, and the crackling of presumably crappy bluetooth connection when phone in pocket does NOT improve with a different phone. I had to warranty my s10+ for the sprint signal issues and no change on either front. Getting ready to try and see if they'll swap out my buds now, but who knows with samsung nowadays

I had major issues with my buds after an update so much that I couldn't put my phone in my pocket without 2 or 3 second dropouts. I had to reset the buds a couple of times and now they are perfect again. Have you tried this?
Does the ambient sound work for you? For me and other users who reported the issue in Samsung forum it does not, meaning that it does not make any difference...
There was an update in the last few days. I've had much better luck since then.
Hey guys I have an issue with my galaxy Buds.
They are not loud enough and dont produce good sound quality for calls as well as for music, they also dont get along with bluetooth connectivity. Most of the time gets disconnected and produce uneven sound while they are connected to the device, people on the call do not hear my voice properly and clearly.
Have tried reset option but it does not work for me, face the same problems time and again.
Any solutions? Definitely not going for a replacement as the procedure will be lengthy as I got them in the pre order sale.

Have you tried adjusting the volume of your buds? Go into the wear app, select your buds (my app defaults to my Gear S3), and go into touch pad. Change it to volumn up. By default they are set to like 1/2 the volumn they are capable of.

Did that the very first day but I did not help. So have sold the buds after all.

don't update them, I seem to think the update bricked my pair so now I just don't mess with updates..

My buds were shipped to me the day the phone launched. From the beginning they seemed low budget in every respect except sound quality. Sound wise they are solid mid tier Bluetooth buds. Like many I had spotty connectivity while pocketing the phone. I had the right bud with less battery life/capacity then the left. And now my bud are being sent in to Samsung since the case no longer tops the earbud off without being plugged in. Fully charged case, insert dead buds, 3 hours latter buds still 0%. Light inside case never turns on.
My right one stopped connecting :/
hey,
does anyone else have a battery drain on the f3 update? my right bud keeps draining my case and itself.
The case was fully charged I left it and after 24h the case was dead and the right bud is at 30%, while the left bud is at 100%.
I tried resetting, cleaning case and even adding papers on top of right bud(bad connection) but nothing helped.
I know my bud is charging for sure because the light recognizes it but it seems unable to fully go out when in case(The bud).
Anyone had the same issue? anything that can help? I really like the buds but this issue that came with the last update(I THINK) is really a downer
