Screen not waking up in low brightness - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Good day
Had a problem, searched but nothing found. Nexus 7 car instal. When dimming the screen to auto brightness on zero (or tasker setting 0 brightness) screen is properly dimmed, perfect for night driving. But after locking the screen and then unlocking the screen backlight doesn't turn on. I can still operate touchscreen (hear music, taps etc) but nothing on the screen. Resetting by holding the power button brings it back, with brightness set to zero and backlight on.
Any solutions?

[Q] Proximity/Phone issue

Since moving to Gingerbread I have had a consistent issue with my proximity sensor when placing and receiving calls.
When I answer/press send the screen immediately goes black. The only way to turn the screen back on is to press the power button to unlock the screen. The only way to turn off the screen is to lock the screen again.
This occurs with auto brightness on or off. With auto brightness on I can see the screen changing brightness levels.
Easy fix: go back to froyo
Actual fix: unknown?
does anyone know of a fix or have a similar issue?

[Q] Auto brightness error... Auto brightness NOT on

I've had a problem with the t989D since I got it. Here's what I want:
**Auto brightness turned OFF and the brightness remain at minimum setting.**
However, with all the roms I've tried (Stock, Juggernaut 4.1- 5.0, Tuesday) I always have the auto brightness OFF and the screen always brightens up to about 75% whenever I turn the screen back on.
Note: the settings still show as if the brightness is set to 0%, but the actual brightness coming from the screen is the same as if I turn the bar up to 75%. When I start to move the adjustment bar a slight amount for the brightness, the actual screen light drops right away. It only stays on 0% as long as I'm using it, but then is really bright again when I lock, then unlock the screen.
Is anyone else noticing this? Beyond that, is it possible to prevent the screen from adjusting it's brightness while the auto brightness nis off?
Thanks for any assistance!!

Auto brightness on wake up sometimes fully dim?

On both the stock ROM and CM11 nightlies (12-12-2013, 12-13-2013) here are times when I try and wake up the tablet (double tap, power button) and the sceen is fully dim. It does not even auto adjust and get brighter after unlocking. If I power it off and wake up the tablet again it is the normal auto brightness.

I received my Gpad this afternoon. Apart from installing apps I have not modified it with root or custom ROMs. The auto brightness seems 100% rubbish. Ticking and unticking the check box seems to have random or no effect at all. This is indoors and with steady lighting. I can't say that I've noticed anything out of the ordinary when waking the device. Auto brightness is simply rubbish, full stop.
Try the Lux app, it fixed the brightness issues for me.

dim screen on wake up

most of the time when the phone wakes up and the screen stays dim and grey, as if there is a semitransparent picture in front of the screen. I can see the clock and I can unlock it, but everything is dimmed.
If I turn of the screen one or two times, it usually wakes op again without this grey dim sheet and I can use the phone in full brightness.
I turned off auto brightness, but this did not solve the problem. The brightness slider also turns upp the brightness, but it is still about half as dim as it should be.
can anyone help me in finding out why this is happening?

Backlight and screen not in sync

My screen and backlight turn off one after the other after locking the screen or when the screen dims off itself. The screen is the first to go off and then the backlight follows, this can only be seen in a dimly lit room or place. Anyone having similar issues is there a fix to syncing the two?
