USB C PD Dock - Google Pixel 2 XL Accessories

Just had my Kidigi USB C dock break that I was using with my Nexus 5X. I am struggling to find any docks that have USB C and Power Delivery. Has anyone found one? It's not really important to have the PD because I only use this charger for at night when I'm sleeping but it would be nice to have if it's available. Thanks!

I am very happy with my Seifio USB C dock, but they have been out of stock for quite a while. https://www.seidioonline.com/product/seidio-desktop-charging-cradle-type-c/

Can someone clarify power delivery? I'm getting mixed results.
Are you looking for a dock that will charge your phone? What's the purpose of being USB and not charging?

FYI, I just received my new phone, Seidio Surface case and holster. I had the same setup on my original Pixel XL and it worked fine. However, for some reason the bottom of the Pixel 2 XL case is thicker, causing the USB C port to be recessed too far to connect to the plug on my Seidio USB C dock.
I will be contacting them for suggestions, as the two Seidio products should be compatible with each other.

USB C charging for the Nexus 6P was 15w. Power Delivery for the Pixel and Pixel 2 are 18w. Some laptops and macbooks can charge at even a higher rate

I cannot believe that USB type C PD has been out for years and there is not ONE usable dock.

I just bought this one, came in yesterday used it couple times now says it's RAPID CHARGING. seems to be charging well mind you it's only been one day.

I've never used a dock, but I can't imagine buying a dock like this where all of the phone weight is propped up on the charging port. Those things aren't welded in like a car trailer... they snap all the dang time. I am currently in the market for a USB-C dock, but am specifically looking for one that has a "rest" for my phone.
I've seen a couple out there, but one is Samsung and the other looks identical, but with a different name.
It seems we just need to create our own and we'll sell millions...

I ended up buying this dock. It's great so far even though it doesn't fast charge. I just have it on my night stand so I don't really care about fast charging there. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071HFM217/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ycgdAb6TYTBSR

Looks like this one is PD and even if it isn't at least it has a USB C connection and not an attached USB A cable.

Doesn't seem worth it. I've been burned too many times on Amazon with trusting their reviews. Just basically threw away $8 on a screen protector that ended up being complete garbage however had a 4.5 star review.

One of the reviews shows the connector broke after a few uses. Why are there no quality docks out there? Everything is so dang cheap. I'd spend $50 if I knew it would be a solid dock that I could use for a long time.

As theBeachBoy said, that's not a dock, so it's not what people in this thread are looking for. But if anyone is looking to buy a multiport charger that supports PD, I've owned that Anker one for a year. I have it setup near an older iOttie car mount that I use as a dock on my desk, and it works great.

Longer MicroUSB charging cable

The microUSB cable is too short, and need a longer one. Will any of the long ones that pop up on ebay work fine or does it need to be a specific type of cable or something.

Longer cable cause greater power loss
i bought a kindle3 last year, and the cable is very long. When i use it to connect my phone to USB port on laptop, my phone can't be recognized
The one that came with the phone was to long for me. I switched to the one that came with my one x. I use the one x charger to it looks better made

Perhaps you can use an existing USB cable?
I've plenty of these from my past units - I find Nokia cables very well made
My N8 USB cable have locking clasps at the micro-USB side and works pretty well for fast charging
For longer cable needs I bring with me the charging cable of my Logitech K800 wireless keyboard
Great quality USB cable for charging and connecting to KIES or just plain transferring files
I have one white original for my kindle, but using it with gs3 charger, as it's twice as long...

I always look to monoprice.com for cables. You are guaranteed to get a high quality cable. You can get one shipped for maybe $1 more than those ebay cables.

That's the whole point, to make the cable that came with the charger longer. That way one can lay in bed, charge, and use the phone at the same time.

Yeah, I just wish (KICKSTARTER!) that someone made a microusb cable that didn't protrude so much from the end of the phone, making it a pain to hold comfortably in landscape mode. Even the right-angle microusb cables I have aren't good enough.
Somebody should really make one that sits flush against the phone, with some extra silicone padding along the base, so you can't even really tell that it's plugged in. It'd be a little pricier, being niche, but I'd buy it... and if marketed right, lots of others would too.

I can't decide between 6, 10 and 15 ft.
I was going to get the 15 ft until someone else mentioned the longer cables affect charging performance. I don't know if there is any truth to that.
Can someone who knows chime in please
I just bought two 15ft cables on monoprice for two bucks a pop. There's a lot of positive reviews, so my guess is that it works just fine

Totally off-topic but for everybody that buys cables from Monoprice, do you guys have free shipping code or something?
I know their products and prices are good. But it seems like unless I'm buying a lot of cables, the shipping doesn't justify the cost.
Charging isn't an issue over 6 feet, but if you're using it for data, don't go over 6 feet...
This is what I use. No issues.

broke my Nexus 7 microsd cable..where to find oem replacement?

This morning I woke up and the microsd cable was broken, I guess in my sleep I bent it and it won't charge any more..(just the cable part) from the charger. Is there a place online to buy the oem original asus cable or something compatible? Something that will charge as fast as the original one.
I use a genuine BB cable from a 9900 Bold and it shows charging at AC rate, not USB.

Pretty much any micro usb cable from a reputable manufacturer will work (its the chargers where you get the differences). I've used my S3 cable, an old Motorola cable, and a monoprice (generic) cable for charging it and other devices with no problems.
Some generic cable don't work very well. I've had charging problems. You can get the Motorola cable pretty cheap on amazon.
Mine stopped working after about 3 weeks. The cable was never bent or even removed from the wall adapter either! It's very possible that you didn't bend the cable in your sleep, and instead the cable just stopped working like mine did. Since then, I've just been using one of my many HTC cables plugged in to the Asus wall adapter that came with my N7 FHD. It works perfectly!

This is true! I think the post you quoted would have been better stated by saying that any cable FROM A REPUTABLE MANUFACTURER should work just fine. Not just ANY cable because, unfortunately, there are many 3rd party cables that are just junk. If you have a cable from your current or previous phone, and it's a phone manufactured by a reputable company, then it should work without a problem.

Fixed my post I've never bought a no name cable but I can imagine if they're cheaply/poorly built they'll have terrible impedance and charge too slow.
Also note that really long cables will charge slower (unless they use lower guage wire)
For Monoprice, avoid the 24AWG ferrite bead ones (the ones that go for about $1 for a 3-foot one). While they seem like quality cables at first, I've had 4 and 3 of them have gotten flaky over time (the D+/D- ones broke on one of them so it doesn't talk to a computer anymore, and the other two often lose connection when moved around).
I have a bunch of different standard cables from eBay (different lengths), even the colorful ones. All work without problems. It's a digital cable ( 2 data and 2 power lines). if it's not broken or shorted any cable should work. Of course if you approach the maximum length (5m -15 ft) of usb and the cable is not up to the specs it may start failing but for 1-3 m should not have problems with any cable. If we speak about the power adapter (not cable) it's another story. There are many variants and not all provide the specified power, but if the specs are correct the 2A and 3A ones should work. Car adapters , an even more different story. I'm not using my Nexus 7-2 in car (have a build in Android navi now), but I used the first gen Nexus 7, and I tried 3 different adapters until I found one which provided enough power to charge the tablet with GPS and navi on (most will let the tablet slowly discharge). I think this model require less power so maybe even some which did not work will work now.

Output:5.2V 1.35A/7W for other USB device
Input:100-240V AC, 50/60Hz universal

I haven't actually been able to test the time it takes to fully charge since I usually charge it overnight but I'll try to run some tests and time how long it takes with the different cables and I'll post my findings. From what I've seen so far from using it, I haven't noticed any difference with charge time between the stock cable and the monoprice one With my experience using it to charge my droid razr (xt912) definitely no difference with charge time compared to the stock motorola usb cable. I'm sure with the n7 it's totally fine.

A few years ago I bought a couple of blackberry OEM cables on Amazon, and ever since, those have been my favorite ones because they are really nice high quality cables. Recently, I was looking to buy some more, and I bought a pack of 5 for $10 from the ebay listing below. I can vouch that they are the same genuine blackberry cables I've received in the past.

Yes, I would look for genuine OEM cables from a name brand. However, with ebay or other sites that have 3rd party sellers, they will often say OEM when in fact they are knock offs. It is more common with chargers than cables. I felt comfortable with that ebay listing because it looked like an actual picture of the product and not a stock image. Also, I already owned a couple, so I knew what they looked like with the blackberry logo on the end.
USB cables plays a big part. out of my 10 USB cables that i own only 2 can manage to transfer 1A.

Yeah I purchased initially because I wanted a flat cable. These really are tangle free and they are tough as nails. I bunch them up, roll them up, tug/pull etc and have yet to have one fall apart or crap out functionally.
Biggest problem I have with it is my coworkers stealing it from my desk!

I am using it with these chargers:

It definitely charges substantially faster than the OEM wall charger for my Nexus 5. That may be the charger or cable or both.
Would be happy to test the mA charge rate but I assume I would need an ammeter which I do not have.

Anker® 18W/3.6A Dual-Port USB Wall Charger / Portable Travel Charge... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8L36A6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_SVf1sb1DQ2N3K
Anker® USB 24W / 4.8A Dual-Port Car Charger - Simultaneous, full-speed charging(White) by Anker http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8M4IMK/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_GXf1sb07XQGKT
It definitely charges substantially faster than the OEM wall charger for my Nexus 5. That may be the charger or cable or both.
Would be happy to test the mA charge rate but I assume I would need an ammeter which I do not have.

If you could test that would be great! I just ordered a bunch of high quality full speed micro USB cables from monoprice that I linked above, but I wouldn't mind having some more that were a little more fun and colorful. It's always nice to change things up every now and again.
You don't need a multimeter or anything.
Just get CurrentWidget off of the play store (it's free) and add a widget to your homescreen. Set the update interval to 1 second, and watch for the highest number to repeat multiple times (it will always fluctuate up and down, but the highest number will keep popping up) that's your max. It may take a few minutes to get to the top speed, but you'll know when the same number range keeps showing.
It's probably not 100% accurate, but it gives a good ballpark number. The stock LG charger/cable charges at ~1050mA. If the flat cables allow full speed charging, you should be able to match that.

Installed CurrentWidget and ran the tests - very sad to see these fosmon cables that I love so much are limiting my rate of charge.
I tested the Anker wall charger with both the 3ft and 6ft fosmon cables at work and got a max value of 480mA. At home I got a max value of 518mA
I tested the Anker car charger with both cables and was floating around 350mA
When I got home I compared (using the same outlet) the Anker wall charger versus a Blackberry Charger I have (which is the fastest charger I own) and found a distinct difference. As stated before the Anker wall charger with both lengths of fosmon cable maxed at 518mA. The blackberry charger maxed at 1589mA.
FWIW, here is the blackberry charger I used (no, the cable is not detachable from the wall adapter)

Sorry to hear about the cables, I was going to grab a few if your results were different. And sorry about making you sad bud... I guess you can see that it's not just a high amp adapter/charger that is important, but the USB cable has to support high charge rate as well.
Your Anker wall/car chargers are very good though, if you used different cables (or even the stock Nexus 5 cable), the charge rate would be faster.
I've heard of the Blackberry charger being very good, but to get it in Canada (amazon.com won't ship it here) I have to use amazon.ca and they charge $20+ for it... Which is so stupid considering Blackberry is a Canadian company located in Ontario... You'd think it'd be a bit cheaper in the motherland.
But it's not really necessary for me anyway, I'm making an attempt to have all of my chargers as Qi chargers. I have plenty of 2A adapters, I just wanted really good USB cables to make sure my Qi chargers are getting fully juiced so they can provide the full 1A output.

No worries - if anything I thank you for showing me how to test it. I had read a review on these fosmon cables saying they were fast current but never went so far as to test (because I thought I needed an ammeter to do it).
These cables still have their use, but I will be snagging a few of those ones linked on monoprice for my bedside, work and car chargers.
I am going to look more at fosmon too (maybe reach out with an email) and see if they offer or plan to offer a flat micro USB with more amperage.
Side note: which Qi charger are you using? Specifically using well with those cables from monoprice.

Get the right Type C cable!

I came across Benson Leung's blog posts for USB Type C cables that pass muster, preferably USB IF Certified. He's an engineer with Google. There are about a hundred or so "compliant" cables but there are probably hundreds more that are not, tons are on Amazon and at Best Buy. One quick thing to look for that good cables have is a solid pin , there is no vertical seam down the middle of the pin that plugs into the phones charging port.

Thanks, this is very useful, I'm surprised spigen is not approved them products never failed me.
I use both the iOrange-E and Anker Powerline...didn't even read this list before I purchased them.
I do use Anker's Micro-B to C Adapters though and haven't had any issues.
this is so annoying. so I've gotten two USB c adapter he recommended so I can use one with my Samsung charger, which I assume will work no problem. and one ill use in car. but my car chargers are old, and i think quick charge 2.0. so if I use the adapter, will it blow my phone up?? I have no idea. lol ugh. so annoying.

There is a Spigen cable on Benson's Amazon list which I linked in the original post.
I'm using Aukey USB A 3.0 to USB C cables with no issues(same ones I used on my Note 7). Got a 5 pack for $20 on Amazon

You should check to see if they are Benson's list for compliance. He forced them to issue a recall for one of their products. I'm returning an Aukey 3.0 charging station today that is overheating badly while the 2.0 charging station I have from them runs fine.

He caused Anker to do a recall. Aukey is a different company. If my Aukey cables were going to show an issue, it would have been when I used them for the Note 7 lol

Correct I was thinking about this Aukey charger, my mistake. They laid into Aukey hard core. obviously both companies have put out some inferior products with regard to Type C USB standards. we cant give them blank check on brand name...yet.

Heads up, I picked up a couple of cables from Benson's list. One iOrange-E and one WolfBlitz.
Unfortunately the WolfBlitz does not appear to support Quick Charge 3.0. I'm getting a message to use the original LG cable. The iOrange-E cable does not have this issue. Both were $10 on Amazon for the braided 6 foot long versions. I like the braided versions over the stiff Belkin type cables because They are eaiser to keep in my coat pocket when connected to my small 3.0 QC power bank.
I bought a good quality braided USB A to USB C cable to use as a spare for my LG V20.
When I connect my phone to my PC using the cable, the phone indicates "Charging" but it doesn't show up as a removable drive and there is an exclamation mark on the COM6 device in device manager.
Switching back to my OEM LG cable, everything works just fine.
This is the cable that I bought:
http://www.hi-online.co.za/pdp/snug-type-c-to-usb-3-cable/_/A-270091AADG5
When looking at a cable in-store, I honestly don't know how to tell which cable will work and which won't.
Now, I only really need the cable as a spare for charging purposes but I'm concerned about whether its safe for me to continue to use it for that.
There aren't a lot of options available in stores where I live but this is one other option I saw:
http://www.kanex.com/usb-c-usb3-cable
Will that work?
I've been using Samsung note 7 cables and they work great.

I bought the above Kanex USB-A to USB-C cable and found that it has the same problem as the other cable that I bought. My V20 shows charging but I cannot transfer data and there are exclamation marks in device manager.
I researched a bit further after buying the cable and found that Benson Leung has also given a negative review of the cable on Amazon, stating that the cable is not spec compliant.
I really like Spigen products, decided on this.
https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-C10C0...71123&sr=8-1&keywords=Spigen+C10C0+USB+Type+C
And this case, had one for my Nexus 6, never failed me.

Funny enough, I have 3 Belkin cables (one is 3.1C) and all work as they're supposed to be.
I got a anker power line c to c. No issues except when I hook it up to my alienware 15 r2 usb c plug my phone will blink back and forth of charging not charging. Might try a different c to c cable and see if its cable or computer

As Bensor and Nathan K point out repeatedly, the USB C spec forbids proprietary fast charging such as QC 2 and 3. USB C supports PD fast changing. Oddly, the LG charger that comes with the LG20 has QC3 but I don't use it, I use a Benson-approved PD charger.

Has anyone seen this one yet? It has all the "certifications" but no reviews yet. I'm looking into getting a PD charger but with an attached cord since my 12v outlet is in a weird spot. Is there a way to look up the certs on this company?
will these all quick charge?

Awesome! It's on the list. Thanks for the link!
What spec car charger is required for the Pixel 2 XL? I currently use a Scosche ReVolt Dual with 12W/2.4A per port that works well with my Pixel XL. But it won't charge my Pixel 2 XL at all.
I ordered this one. Supposed to have PowerDrive I'm pretty sure

I just don't believe this phone charges very fast which is making me change my style of charging. I normally only charged on the way to work and way home (20 min each way) with my S8+ and kept it above 90% normally but this one is so slow charging using Waze for traffic I might have to charge at office or home
The Belkin car charger that Google sells on their site is available on Amazon for $17. That's what I got and it works great.

I finally broke down and asked Google Pixel 2 support. "Richard" said that the 2 XL needs 15W and 2A minimum to charge.
That page you gave doesn't show your charger's output per port. But assuming all of them are equal, it only gives 13.5W per port. Not enough for the 2 XL.
I bought 2 of these last night. Great limited time price last night
