voLTE not working on stock XT1710-01 - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

Howdy folks,
I have a stock XT1710-01 running 7.1.1, never rooted or modified in any way. Currently, it is sporting M8953P_23.33.07.34R ALBUS_NA_CUST baseband. My provider is Mint SIM, which is a T-Mobile MVNO.
I know for sure that voLTE is supported on this network and is not limited to band 12 anymore. My wife's iPhone 7 can use voLTE without any issue while connected to the same tower. My Z2 Play always switches to 3G/H/H+ to make or receive a call. I specifically drove to a band 12 tower hoping it would help but to no avail. I went to engineering menu with *#*#4636#*#* and confirmed that voLTE is enabled there. I tried setting "LTE only", but it caused all voice calls to fail so had to revert back to LTE/WCDMA.
I read a lot of discussions where people reported losing voLTE functionality on Moto Z play and other brands/models after upgrading to 7.1.1 but nothing about Z2 Play so far. Does anyone else have this issue with their NA unlocked Z2 Play? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

... crickets I am not sure if the lack of replies indicates that other folks don't have this problem or that they never paid attention whether voLTE is functional on their phones.
OK, could someone please drop in and confirm that their stock 7.1.1 Z2 Play has voLTE working fine? I am trying to figure out whether it is the Android problem (software) or my phone's hardware is not working properly. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!

Dunno if you're still looking for a reply but I am also using an XT1710-01 provisioned on the Verizon network. Works great when calling my dad with his Verizon branded Moto Z Force Droid.

Yes, I am also facing same problem on my Moto z2 play. Volte is not working, only shows 4G.

Hey Folks
I am also having issue in getting VoLTE and seeing only 4G icon with calling at network symbol.
Is it same for everyone in India on Jio sim ?
Also having frequent network & wifi disconnect issue.
Does this have any fix ?
Thanks
Pawan

XT1710-01 on Verizon.
VoLTE works.
Perhaps you are not receiving many replies, because most folks are not on Mint.

VoLTE doesn't work on MintSIM. I have a Z2 Play and I have MintSIM as well so I was having the same issue (kind of - my issue was standby battery drain, which led me to discover this).

I think this is relatively recent - in any case, like I said I'm in the exact same predicament - down to the baseband version lol. I've been trying to figure out how to turn off "VoLTE Provisioned" in the *#*#4636#*#* menu but can't seem to get it to stuck.
Also, good luck asking MintSIM, the regular customer support people don't know anything.

Unlocked Sony Arc Hotspot not working

Hey there everyone
first time post on this forum. Hopefully someone can give me some good news on how to fix my problem.
I am on the Fido network in Vancouver, BC. I recently bought a Sony Arc from Rogers and had it unlocked. Everything on the phone works great, but I cannot get my mobile hotspot to work. Wifi, GPS, email, etc. all work fine.
I had read somewhere that I might have to change my APN settings, but when I did that, flash turned off on my web browser - maybe I had put in the wrong setting.
Then I also read that you have to change your WAP settings, but I don't know where to find that.
Hopefully someone here can give me some good news on how to fix this bug. I did phone both Fido and Rogers and they said that it should work and that nothing is blocked on my account.
Would really appreciate some feedback and some help with thanks. Thanks in advance.

Nothing to do with you're APN's etc if that' not working... if you're getting a data connection (GPRS/ 3G/ HSDPA) then this should work fine...
if it's not then suggest trying to reflash the firmware using SEUS or Flashtool.

Weird. Most of that doesn't make sense. Adobe Flash is unaffected by APN settings. Unlocking has nothing to do with 3G either.
A quick Google search turns up:
APN Settings for Fido: http://forums.fido.ca/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/Smartphones/thread-id/768/page/1
Like im_iceman said, if 3G works, hotspot should also.
Have you set the password? SSID? etc.?
Hotspot works fine on my arc. And X10.
Portable Hotspot Doesn't Work For Me Either
I purchased an Xperia ARC from Mobicity in Australia. In order to work on the NextG 850 MHz network I purchased the Model LT15a which is described at dudubdub.xperiablog.net/2011/04/17/xperia-arc-lt15a-sold-on-ebay/ (replace dubdubdub with www). This is built for and branded Rogers. If I switch on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot it works so that I can connect my laptop to it but turns off my data connection so it is useless. If I turn the hotspot off the data connection comes back on. I can't have the data connection and the wi-fi hotspot on at the same time.
I've interpreted this as a Rogers special build that doesn't allow tethering to satisfy Rogers commercial requirements. Telcos in Australia don't mind tethering but some others do and I guess Rogers is one of them. Its a guess though because I don't know Rogers policies.
Sounds like Rogers have added some power saving app, and this is automatically disabling your data connection when WiFi is on (JuiceDefender does this I think, but might be intelligent enough to notice when you're using the phone as a hotspot - I've not tried yet).
If that's the case, you'll either need to track down the app and remove it (there's a guide on here somewhere for removing pre-installed system apps) or flash your phone with more generic firmware that doesn't have it.

US991 Unlocked - VoLTE or Simultaneous Voice & Data

Hi all,
I picked up an unlocked LG G4 US991 from Buydig via eBay the other day. I got the phone today and was on a call and needed to use data and realized that data did not work. I currently have a Verizon sim that I noticed it did not work on . I also have a T-Mobile sim. Is it possible to enable or use VoLTE or Simultaneous Voice & Data on the US991 with Verizon service or T-Mobile service?
I don't have the T-Mobile sim right now to test it out at the moment.
Thanks.
Since T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, WCDMA (3G GSM) does support simultaneous voice and data.

Thanks for the reply.
I popped the T-Moble sim in over the weekend and was able to do simultaneous voice and data, which is great.
I just wish there was a way on this phone to do it on a CDMA carrier.

CDMA does not support simultaneous voice and data unless the phone uses 2 radios.

I am interested in your experience with tmobile service with this phone. I have read that some people had issues after upgrading to marshmallow. Wondering if those were just a couple isolated incidents. Could you share a little more info please? Thank you

I'm sorry I should've been more specific. I meant VoLTE to support simultaneous voice and data on a CDMA carrier with this phone.

I'm not familiar with the issues, but so far so good with T Mobile's service. The phone came with lollipop installed and I upgraded it to Marshmallow over wifi before I popped in the T-Mobile sim card. The GF uses it with their service and has had no problems so far. All the different data modes work from LTE down to 2G, messaging and calls work as well.

Wifi Calling?
Hi. Thanks for the info.
Does US991 permit T-Mobile's Wifi Calling, which I believe is linked to its ability to provide free Gogo In flight free texting on major airlines?

No it does not have the wifi calling ability. That only comes on T-Mobile branded phones.
I'm also wondering how to activate Advanced Calling on the US991 model for Verizon. I have it activated on my account I just cant seem to be able to make it work on the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

From what I can see in the hidden settings menu, it is not possible. This version of the phone does not support VoLTE. When you click on VoLTE in the hidden menu it tells you something along the line of it not being supported.

Hidden features/menus in the Unlocked Galaxy S9 G960U1 - Megathread

Howdy,
As many features are missing (disabled) on the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S9 bought directly from Samsung. I started digging deep and I found quite interesting things.
1) Wi-Fi Calling and HD Voice (VoLTE)
As someone who upgraded from an AT&T S6 (G920A), it didn't make sense to me that I was unable to get the same (or better) voice call quality in my Galaxy S9.
Using Tasker (the automation tool), I was able to see couple interesting apps:
HD Voice Settings
Outgoing HD Voice Settings
3 Wi-Fi Calling apps
Screenshots:

}
Both HD Voice Settings and Outgoing HD Voice Settings are inaccessible. I tried turning on the Wi-Fi Calling in the last app, but as soon as you exit it goes back to off.
However, there's an app called LTE test that caught my attention. It has a menu option where you can test VoLTE.
Screenshots:
* P.S. It is worth noting that whenever I ask Bixby to turn Wi-Fi Calling, it goes to Network settings and gets confused. *
2) Dual-Sim Possibility?
In one of the screenshots above, there's a SIM 2 option in one of the 3 "Wi-Fi Calling" apps. In addition to that, I found another mention for SIM 2 (Slot 2) in an other app called Network settings. Therefore, theoretically speaking, there's a high chance that the hardware is there.
Screenshot:
Any contribution would be appreciated!
As far as I know, HD Voice and WiFi calling are not firmware related, but carrier related. Meaning that they are there (in the firmware) but they are activated only if the carrier allows it - depending on their infrastructure, subscription/pre-pay etc.
In my case, I have HD Voice and WiFi calling, but I can't find RTT.

When I first bought my Galaxy S9 directly from Samsung, WiFi calling was not available however, in a later update it was made available and it works.
Phone is G960U1UEU3ARJ2 service provider is Verizon.

That's what happened with me on AT&T also. I was actually told that since it was unlocked they couldn't promise anything but the update did enable it.

What about HD voice
I am doing research about it too. It is related with csc. For example on my unlocked s9 I flashed the h3g UK firmware and the option stays on when you exit the menu but for me it is impossible to use because I live in Italy but don't have h3g so sip values are not correct
Can you elaborate? I purchased an unlocked S9, and I'm on AT&T. Are you saying you received an update that enabled hd voice and wifi calling?

Trouble with sim cards LG G7 dualsim

The problem with the phone in those cases:
1. You can not always hang up
2. It is not always possible to pick up the phone.
3. Both SIM cards are cut down as if they are not there.
All this happens arbitrarily, sometimes it works correctly, sometimes not. Very frustrating
LG G7 + Phone (LM-G710EAW)
According to the recommendations on the forum, I stitched the firmware for the CIS, successfully, the recording of calls and Russian letters to the dialer appeared pleasantly. From the unpleasant - instead of the level of the signal of the network with chopsticks, the triangles are non-standard and before that you could see which type of network 2g 3g H H+ and now it’s not visible only when internet is active.
Well, I think, okay, but it will work correctly ....
And it was not there - I can’t put the phone down and the cards disappear as they disappeared.
While writing this message already appeared ... Themselves ...
This is a complete fail for such a flagship level.
Does anyone have a solution, advice on what to do?
I really do not want to sell the device ... He has only a month
Used with Ukrainian networks

Does your LG G7 Dual SIM has WIFI calling?
I can reproduce the similar issue, started happening since jan 10.
When set on 4g, calling issue is persistent, setting it 2G only mode solves the issue.

Thank you for the answer. I just recieved my LG G7 from Google and liking it so far. I have a Samsung S8+ duos but the S8+ duos does not support WIFI calling. I am thinking of getting a dual SIM LG G7. If the dual SIM LG G7 does not support WIFI calling, that would not be an upgrade for me. Thanks again.
That`s nice that help you with smth, but I really need to resolve my problem.... It`s so sad.... to see yoour phone without any cannectivity...and lost incomes

How to prevent XZ2 Compact from using VoLTE ?

Hi. I have a XZ2 Compact since a couple of weeks. My contract (Congstar, using german T-Mobile network) includes 4G for data, but only 2G/3G for calls. So the phone should change to 2G/3G mode if I call someone or someone call me. Sadly it only does, if there is 4G coverage at the beginning of the call. If there is only 2G/3G coverage at all I can't call anyone. So the phone always try to use VoLTE first before the network force it to use GSM for calls.
How can I force the phone to avoid VoLTE at all? I know there should be a option for this in the connections menu, but it's just not there. I tried a hard reset and I also flashed another firmware which I downloaded with XperiFirm. At the moment I have 52.0.A.8.50 installed.

Usually no button means no support
I would ask the Sony support about this problem.
It may be a software bug.
So there is no quick solution? I would like to use my phone without waiting for a bugfix And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only user of this phone in germany and this "LTE only for data" sim card are pretty common here.

As you maybe know, O2 support VoLTE and Wifi Calling for all customers, also for reseller like blau, ay yildiz etc.
T-Mobile and Vodafone only allow VoLTE and Wifi Calling for their own customers, not for reseller like Congstar, Otelo etc.

So I would ask the sony support, if it won't show a disable button.
Or use a SODP based custom rom. (Here VoLTE and VoWIFI is on the todo list).
Maybe one of the many listed adb props helps you, too.
http://bfy.tw/ONWv
But that would be just a forced disabling via ADB.
Not fixing the root cause of the issue.
Sony answered very fast, but just said I should contact my network provider. Well, useless as they only care about devices customers bought directly from them and not on the free market.
