Best setup for revived SG4 mini ? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings,
finally, I got new mainboard for my SG4 mini (meantime suffering from the curse of Meizu MX4 paddle) and I'm thinking about tweaking it a bit before putting it to full use.
So, since I have little to zero knowledge (except rooted Huawei Ideos X1), I would really appreciate any advice on how I can improve its function or which SW I should install on my desktop and pair it with my phone, etc.
There were some discussions back in 2016, but maybe something new emerged - after all, SG4 is one of the last one-handed-phone.

nothing much as changed. You need Odin and the Samsung drivers installed on your PC (widows). I'd then go for the official LineageOS ROM, white latest TWRP, if your model is supported by them both

[Q] Samsung Rom

Hallo, I would like to know if I can flash to my LG a rom from Samsung for example that from S4, I am asking because I have a low end device from alcatel and after rooting it I was able to flash roms from samsung or Sony. The main reason I am asking is because I bought recently a samsung gear s smartwatch which needs samsung devices to run fully. I managed to make it work on LG but not all features are present, I am really looking forward to replying me......

Is it worth to switch to this phone?

Hello everybody, I'm looking for a new smartphone to fit my needs. I actually own a Lg G Flex 2, and I'm unhappy with it. You may ask "why?". Well, because I'm very addicted to modding and all of these things. The locked bootloader etc. on the G Flex 2 made me really sad about this phone. Do you think it's worth to switch from a G Flex 2 to a Zenfone 2 (+ 30€)? Let me know, please. And most of all, this is not a "which one is better" so please don't argue too much. Thank you all!

My Opinion
1) If you want to buy Zenfone 2 then I suggest you to buy 4GB Ram version Only.
2) If you are interested in latest android only then go for Nexus (e.g: Nexus 5X)
3) 4GB RAM versions are also available in Oppo,Vivo, etc. (Search for it)
4) In Sony you can get waterproof smartphone. (Search)
Some Mid Range Great Smartphones:-
1) Lenovo Vibe X3
2) Samsung Galaxy A8
3) Huawei Honor 7
4) Nexus 5X
5) Nexus 6
6) Sony Xperia M5 Dual
7) Sony Xperia Z3+
8) One Plus 2
9) VIVO X5 PRO
10) and of course ASUS Zenfone 2.
But do whatever you want to do...
The Zenfone 2 is not going to knock your socks off, and I don't think it was ever supposed to. The Zenfone 2 is a nice hardware package (not big time, but nice) and the price tag on it is LESS than my first car. The development community seems to love this phone and we were promised android 6 this quarter. Just make sure you get the 4GB model, and don't make the mistake of ordering one online that seems cheaper than everyone else is offering one for (a lot, and I mean A LOT of people got hosed thinking they were buying the WW version, and instead got a chinese model that someone flashed WW software on it and can't get LTE). I ordered three of these from ASUS and all three work great. I love mine and this is the first phone that my son or daughter have not complained about, and they complain about EVERYTHING

i'm in ur same position ...i have xperia sp with GREAT deve community ....but i need to move since it's very old now(2013 phone) though it runs 6.0.1 with no bugs at all
gonna buy zenfone 2 after a month (till my exams are finished ) and i searched alot like VERY VERY alot
screen : it's not brightest nor the best IPS display but for the price u can't complain
volume : as i saw it's not that great...it's somehow little loud but it's muffled and tiny
hardware : 4g ram and quad-core 2.3ghz equal to SD801 or SD805 with only 300$ ....u sure can't complain about that
and ofc it got a great deve community with great ROMs and good official cm13 base
In all honesty, there are better options, I would go with the nexus or opo, I'm sorry I purchased the ZenFone 2.
From the current user of Zenfone 2, don't waste your money for it, you buy it as it is, no one care after that, more update bring more bugs, Intel has abandoned Intel Atom mobile CPU so if we are lucky, Android 6.0 is the lastest android version we could have on our phone, and if we are not, we stucked with 5.0 forever :3
Still great value for the $. It's not perfect but it's very functional.

Just buy a phone with Qualcomm inside instead of intel inside.
Thank you all for the answers!

Don't Play With Honor Devices Especially Honor 8 Pro

[I am sorry for the title, it;s quite misleading]
Honor 8 Pro is indeed a beast but this company is not for ROM development or atleast this phone.
Stop trying to Degrade/Root or anything else than updating through the stable channel. I have myself destroyed the device multiple times, although I did not hard bricked it, thanks to the almighty and was able to recover phone with that good old download folder method, but still, don't try anything with this device, use it if you have one and if you can't live for a day without root (there is no point rooting this device anyway, most modules won't work and the development is ceased anyways) sell it and get something that has developer support, OnePlus for instance.
OpenKirin ROMs are good. I am using OmniROM Pie Alpha 2 and it is great!!!!! It has all goodies (Pie + Honor Camera + no junk etc etc).
To be honest, it is always work in progress and thanks to developers (OldDroid and team), they are still coming up with best possible , stable ROMs for this beast!
It always depends on what you are looking out for!:good:

I have a Honor 8 Pro. 8.0.0 android and 8.0.0 EMUI
Model: DUK-L09
I have never rooted a phone before. The only thing I want to root it because it dose NOT recognize xbox360 controller with OTG cable which is ridiculous. Could you recommand me something ?
I have owned many Honor phones, and you're totally right.
The decision of not providing bootloader codes is somewhat good when it comes to this.

Stuck w/ old Android 5.0 and 4.4.2 two different tablets

Hello,
I have two tablets with very little support.
Either the programmers gave up because the original configuration were too complexe. I know there are a few who like challenges.
In any case
1st tablet
RCA
RCT6203W46
AKA VIKING PRO 2
2nd tablet
Hipstreet phoenix
HS-10DTB12A-16MG
AKA PHOENIX
Is there anyone that can confirm any custom roms working on these units.
4.4.2 and 5.0 are very limiting.
Thanks for looking into this.
There are good number of people that bought these units that would be very happy if anything worked other then stock rom.
Also, I just finished twrp / rr oreo on my old samsung mega 6.3 with full smooth success because of your programmers.
Kick ass!!!

options for note 8T

My Xiaomi Mi A1 is about to be replaced and my Mrs loves her note 8t (4\64 variant)
I'm very tempted to buy myself this same handset as it's nicely feature packed and great value.
I'm an it engineer and I'm extremely comfortable flashing new ROM s to devices (I've flashed new a new ROM to every Android device I've ever owned, including Samsung galaxy, TV boxes, Huawei, redmi and my A1) however my Mrs hasn't let me experiment with her phone
I have a few questions though before I bite the bullet.
I've seen videos and threads online about dual booting Android with Linux, namely Ubuntu touch. (Q) is there anything similar for this device?
I've flashed postmarketos to an old (really old) Samsung Tab 4 but it's nowhere near being a usable device due to lack of support.
Ok, so it turns out I've only really got one question.
Can this device run a usable form of Linux with display, data and calls working?
