[Q] Best method to store apps on sd card when using CM11

Looking through the xm forums here there are a few methods suggested by which i can install apps on my sd card,
I have a few questions for anyone who has tried these
-Firstly do any of these work in cm 11 all listed instructions are for 4.1/4.2
-Is it possible to use a ext partition on my sd card, on my previous phone i used s2e and apps were installed to a ext partition on my sd card
so far i have tried links2SD but it doesnt seem to work for me with cm 11
Any other suggestions or advice is welcome

new member here, and because of spam policy no outside link possible so you'll have to make some copypasta.

TItanium backup storage on external SD?

Has anyone successfully backed up to external SD with TiBu? I recently mucked up my phone and had to reflash to stock to recover, and this wiped out all my TiBu backups which were on the internal SD partition. When I try to choose my own custom backup path in TiBu preferences it shows the internal SD as an option and then a folder in orange and the message "This folder is not writable". I have already ran SDfix and have the camera store images on the external SD, how do I get TiBu to recognize it as a valid location? I would rather not hassle with manually copying TiBu's folder in ES File Explorer
I did try downloading this Xposed module and TiBu still complains

EDIT: argh, thread already exists on here, the built-in search really sucks...
Make SD Card Writable to Apps
I used the procedure in the link here and it worked fine. I did it specifically for the reasons you cite, but it supposedly makes it work with all apps. I definitely works for TiBU. I am rooted. May need to be rooted to do this.

Titanium Backup and Temporary CWM not reading/writing to SD card

I started getting the error yesterday when I went into titanium backup to backup my apps before updating. It kept giving an error saying the SD card was out of free space. I formatted it, and reinstalled Titanium Backup but I still keep getting the error. When I select the backup location it says the SD card can't be written on. Temporary CWM also can't flash zip files off the SD card. It recognizes that it is seated, but selecting it just sends me back to the previous menu. But Spotify and the camera app have no issues reading/writing to the SD card. I'm using the 64GB Samsung pro sd card with a 16GB North American Zenfone.
For TiBu, try adding the media_rw line on external storage in permissions.
Posted using my phone.

Just checking, if it's rooted did you run the kitkat sd fix app in the playstore? It's a problem imposed by google as they don't want us using sd cards anymore...

No I didn't. Thanks for the suggestion it works now for Titanium Backup, I have tried temp CWM yet.
If you want to backup your apps on a SDCard with TB, You have to choose the backup directory. See pictures in attachement to proceed.
Sorry, my TB is in French but you can easily find the same repertory I guess
Step 1 : Go to "menu", then press "preferences"
Step 2 : Click to change the storage
Step 3 : Choose to storage with "DocumentProvider"
Step 4 : Choose the SD Card and the "TitaniumBackup" directory
Step 5 : Press "use the current folder", press "yes" when the popup appears.
Step 6 : Aaaaaaaaaaaand it's done !
It worked for me, all my apps are saved on the SDCard :good:

RN9PRO Problem with sd card recognition in apps

I wanted to change the core of my phone, and it bootloop when i installed twrp, so I downloaded latest official rom of xiaomi redmi note 9 pro(V12.0.4.0.RJZMIXM), but now I have an problem, the phone sees the sd card (micro sd) and I can use it with 7z or file manager but apps don't see it, example: retroarch (games emulator). I mean that apps just can't see the micro sd.Before the bootloop all apps could see the micro sd and use it.I even tried to format the sd card and it didn't changed anything. The rom i had before the bootloop was miui 12 android 10 I think? And the latest rom that I have now is miui 12 with android 11 the problem is in the version? Should I wait for an official update or downgrade to the rom I had? Pls help! Thanks!
Edit: nvm just downgraded to android 10 and it works fine
....I would downgrade to a working version and then wait for a better release
