Zuk z2 plus volte issue on any rom, is there a fix? - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Volte is not working on any custom rom which is volte enabled. Tried aex 4.6 , aicp 12.1, rr. When I dial *#*#4636#*#* it says voice service: in service but can't call using volte/ jio sim.
I tried to create a new apn which is said to work but when I hit save it gets deleted automatically/ doesn't show up in the list.
Create a new apn :
NAME:ims
APN :ims
APN Type:ims
APN protocol :IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol :IPv4/IPv6
Is there any fix? Please help.
Volte doesn't with any of the rom I tried.

Same problem with me u find any solution yet?

I had same issue,Following step worked for me
1.Flash stock 2.5 rom.
2.Restart device .
3.check if volte/hd symbol appear .
4.unlock the boot loader again, and without restarting the device install twrp
5.flash the rom you want to use.

Change ROM

I am facing similar issue here. Got the phone delivered today with stock marshmallow rom. Straightaway unlocked bootloader and flashed VIPER OS. VOLTE didn't work.. How to flash the 2.5 stock rom?

Can I flash the de-odexed zui 2.5 nougat Indian version found in XDA rom section?
UPDATE:- Flashing de-odexed rom 2.5 rom enabled volte.

The trick is to make sure when you move out of the Stock ZUI rom, volte or HD should be activated or displayed in status bar. To confirm make a test call and check if dialing is successfull via JIO sim. Also after installing TWRP do not reboot after clean wipe, directly install custom rom.

No, it won't relock the bootloader. Even if it locks the bootloader, you can unlock it again via Zuk unlock website.
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Flash custom recovery.
3. Flash the baseband 1.76
4. Flash the rom
If you need further detailed steps, tell me.

VoLTE Not working in AEX 8.1 Rom.

Hello I have done the same procedure, as soon as i received the phone unlocked boot-loader, flashed recovery and rom. Now after repeated experimenting with different roms like (Pixel Experience 8.1 & 9.0 Alpha, AEX 5.8 and 6.0 Alpha) still facing same problem no VoLTE. I use Airtel network and area I live the phones indicated LTE+, but when I call it switches to H+. I even tried the method suggested by https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/how-to/guide-volte-fix-oreo-roms-t3692596
Does the Procedure works. Any suggestions you can give me?
Thank you

Volte problem in both RR roms

Hi from past 2 days I've been flashing custom roms on my device and did a hardbrick (but solved it from customer care they replaced motherboard in less then 4hrs).
alright, so after this first I flashed official RR Rom, volte did not work. I thought the issue is in rom so I flashed unofficial RR rom then again it didn't work.
today i flashed stock OOS 4.0.2 to revert back to stock. volte worked just fine. is it something am i missing ?
I might not be able to use custom rom as it don't allow me to use VOLTE (Jio sim)
any help would be appreciated.
p.s.
i have tried everything in custom rom to enable volte it didn't worked
enabling volte provision in *#*#4636#*#*
enabling enhanced lte in sim setting.
any mod please move this thread in oneplus 3t question answer
thanks
nvm it is fixed now after flashing stock rom volte worked then later i flashed RR rom and voila volte work's!!!

Airtel, Vodafone VoLTE support on stock/custom Z2 plus possible?

Even though z2 plus supports VoLTE (Jio works fine), for some reason on Airtel and Vodafone 4g networks z2 plus is not supported for VoLTE.
Airtel and Vodafone however support VoLTE for many other phones like the Xiaomi mi5, redmi 4,5, one plus etc. In which case, is it not possible to figure out what it is that allows other phones to access VoLTE on these networks and then extract these necessary files/configurations from the ROM and install it in z2 plus stock or custom ROMs to enable support for VoLTE?
For me volte works fine.
BTW I am using Vodafone 4g

You are using a custom ROM right? Which one?
Would it be possible to create a flashable mod maybe to enable VoLTE (for Airtel and Vodafone) on the Stock ZUI ROM?
The effort and hassle you may take to make your device ready for flashing process is 90% of total work before using a Custom ROM.
Compare to ZUI, any Custom ROM is thousand times better.
Why not trying the entire thing then?
And if I am not mistaking, ZUI 4.0.xxx (stock / official) supports other network VoLTE. Given you are in a location or accessing a tower which is VoLTE capable and keeping your AirTel/Vodafone SIM card in your SIM Slot 1.
I don't think VoLTE may work with SIM Slot 2.
Thanks.

After flashing zui 4.xxx volte started working like a bang!
Then I flashed aex 6.0.
That's it.
Which ZUI version to be flashed and it should be official or custom and should be flashed via QPST or TWRP ?
See i just want to clarify that zuk z2 plus , supports volte on all networks. It depends on the sim type and the area you are located in.
See , i just tried that . my friends sim supports volte (Airtel) and when i put that sim in my phone(zuk) i could make calls over lte .
So try contacting airtel/network provider to get a sim swap.

I am using Z2 Plus with ZUI 2.5.104 ST and this version is unable to use VoLTE. I have put the same SIM card in a Redmi Note 4 and VoLTE works there. I have also contacted Airtel/Vodafone and their answer is simply update OS, no official support.
Since on Custom ROMs it seems to be working, I just want to know if it could be possible to make it work on the Stock one as well. If it is working on ZUI 3.5/3.7/4.0 versions like the deodexed one or RuMod then I could switch to it.
I like the bottom quick settings and U-touch too much, and it holds me back from changing to an AOSP ROM.

Regarding U-Touch, yes you can get similar options as in ZUI in Custom ROMs too by tweaking fpc1020tp.kl file.

Hmm, interesting.
You are from which circle? I am in Vodafone Mumbai but VOLTE not working for me. But then have been on custom ROMs for too long. In past Jio did work for me... had got it working on ZUI before flashing custom ROMs.
I flashed zui 3.5 and turned on volte and then updated to the zui 4.0.x and volte was working and after this process every other custom ROMs are working with Airtel volte.

And u mean after this process after zui 4 if flash AEX 5.7 it will support vodafone/Airtel volte ?
Airtel VoLTE works on Stock ROM and Custom ROM
Hi,
Kindly check this :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78580727&postcount=6
I could not check it for ZUI 2.5 and ZUI 3.5, but saw it working for ZUI 4.0.199 and AEX 6.0
Not Sure if the signal strength is good, but at least VoLTE is working.
Regards,
Amit

I've done this method on pie roms but I think it's the issue of baseband. there won't be any problem or performance changes in swapping baseband, zui 3.5 qfil to zui 4 ota worked for me ,but don't forget to enable volte in zui 3.5 before updating to zui 4.0 . I can't confirm bcz I don't have aex 5.7 with me.

Hi Lakshmi, Can you check my post above. I have shared the steps which got me VoLTE in Stock as well as Custom ROM.
All recent ROMs support Airtel VoLTE. The problem isn't with our device but it's Airtels VoLTE implementation. Unlike Jio, Airtel only enables VoLTE if the imei of the device in which the Sim is inserted is one of the officially supported device. (List on their website)
What you can do is as follows:
1. Insert your Sim in one of the officially supported device like iPhone, one plus, etc.
2. Keep using the phone until VoLTE is enabled (it takes Airtel anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours to activate VoLTE on a new sim, even when inserted in a supported phone!)
3. Once VoLTE is enabled on your Sim, you can switch back to your z2 and it should start working.

Yeah, same with Vodafone too. I inserted my sim in redmi 4 and volte was not working and so i didn't knew this method of volte implementation so I reinserted my sim in z2 plus and told Vodafone on email that volte is not working for me(i didn't mentioned my device to them in the email). So they replied me that your device is lenovo z2132 which doesn't support volte officially.
Now I'll again insert my sim in redmi 4 to get volte working.
Thanks.

Is it worth it to Update baseband?

I'm currently running AOSP 7.1.2 with 1.7x baseband, should I Update the baseband? is the performance difference really significant?
Cheers
Friend is not the baseband that give performance and
yes the updated bootloader. (I am currently in the bootloager Pie in performance these new updated roms (kernel 4.4) They are spectacular, but in battery it sins a lot, thinking of going back to the nougart roms.If your cell phone has already been installed zui 2.5 Indian (then went to the customs roms) Do not need to upgrade (pass to 3.5 by qpst). The basebands do not leave the 1.70x only have one that is different that is the 1.76

Friend if You before going to the customs roms was in zui 2.5 indiana do not need to update the bootloader (by qpst installing zui 3.5) just install factory vendor in twrp and then install twrp treble and install rom with kernel 4.4, gapps, mods and the ones you want

friend if you want high performance, security, updates continue, software news can go to the 4.4 kernel roms, but depending on user to user the issue of battery autonomy is relative is each testing and evaluating whether it is good or not!

Update for Who wants to go to the 4.4 kernel ROMs you need? I have the answer to see

Zui 2.5 confirmed that it is necessary to install roms with kernel 4.4, it does not need zui 3.5 (in my case I had already installed zui 2.5 indiana as my rom and I decided to go for custom roms and today I use them with kernel 4.4 without having to install 3.5 zui per qpst)
I haven't unlocked my device yet.. but I'm planning to flash custom rom. currently I'm using zui 2.5 the official one. Friend I just left the aex pie to na bootleggers. Yes you just need to unblock the bootloader and install twrp as a recovery, after that you need to do the following: First install the factory, then watch the twrp treble (reinstall back to twrp) and install rom and gapps and what you want

How many errors etc ... none so far. You have to have zui 2.5 Indian to do what I did!
I left aex pie because there is a bug in the download to download anything has to be completely on the page for example I want to download a game and I can not leave it in the background and I can not let the screen erase because the download pauses
If you want to install only nougat based custom roms, zui 2.5 indian baseband is fine. But if you want to use oreo or pie roms, you need to flash at least zui 3.5. I've used oreo roms on zui 2.5 baseband and it gives you Little glitches here and there and offline charging doesn't work.
