Google Smart Lock? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

I'm looking to purchase this phone but wondering if Xiaomi stripped out (or down to BT only) Google Smartlock? My Mi Max had it with MIUI 8 but now it's BT only with MIUI 9. I you can let me know I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Can anyone please tell me if it has full Google SmartLock to include on body detection, Trusted places, trusted voice?

It does not, only BT. I am on MIUI 8.5.

Smart lock is not working. Neither by Bluetooth or place. I'm on MIUI 9. You'll get the prompt to setup smart lock, but it won't do anything. Xiaomi implemented its own smart lock which only works with Mi-devices afaik...

Hi all,
i just got my Mi Mix 2S, great phone so far. What I miss is the possibillity to keep it unlocked when I am wearing my Garmin smart watch. With my previous phones, I could use the Smart Unlock feature, the phone would not be locked if my watch was in the vicinity. Now the Mi Mix Settings 'Unlock with bluetooth device' finds the Garmin watch (somtimes), but I cannot pair the devices. The phone prompts me to push a button on the device. With my previous phones, I did not have to push a button to set the watch as a smart unlock device.
My understanding it is a Miui restrictrion. Is this really true? Would installing a different rom support smart unlock?
Or are there workarounds (Apps, etc.) to enable Smart unlock, maybe even for trusted wifi networks?
Thanks in advance
Steffen

I'm using the omnirom pie version, and Smart Lock works out of the box without problems. So it must be an MIUI related issue.

Smart lock does not work with Xiaomi. It must be a Xiaomi device to unlock by bluetooth. Very annoying

am using lineage-15.1-20190423-nightly-chiron-signed.zip
Smart Lock will disappear after a shutdown/restart/reboot

my idea is :
close the bt after sync means app ,

what do you think?

Mi6 bluetooth problems

Each time I use Mi6 via bluetooth in car to answer/make calls - first call goes OK, and all others not - people I talk to don't hear me. It happena in 4 different cars so it's not car's problem. Mi5 was OK. I run 7.1.1 NMF26X global beta. miui 8 7.6.8 global beta. And can't solve it myself. Tried deleting and re-adding cars, restarted phone - nothing helped. When I switch to phone during call - it's OK. As soon as I switch back to car - same problem. No one hears me and I hear everyone.
Any1?
I'm sorry but I can't test because I don't have any Bluetooth devices.
Not using any bluetooth device either.

Ok, one by one.
1. My phone does not see andriod wear app on my smart clock with bluetooth --> My watch works, did you unpair your watch with old phone first? Android wear watch can only connect to 1 phone.
2. There's personal hotspot, you can see it in the settings menu.
3. GPS needs time to find your phone, you need to have wifi (or mobile data connection to assist the phone), if it located your phone, next time GPS will work faster.
It is a different issue with me: when paired with a BT device with the "phone audio" profile enabled, despite picking up the call on via pressing the green button on the touchscreen, it still defaults to the BT device (and I have to switch audio back to "phone" before the other person cuts off after hearing nothing). This is on the global ROM 8.2.2.0...
The global ROM seems buggy as hell...

Hello Friend.
The same happens to me.
It connects to bluetooth but I have no output or audio input.
Did you get it fixed?
Thank you
Everyone.
This is not xiaomi's problem.
This problem is due to oreo's new bluetooth stack.
There is no current solution to this. I've searched far, wide and deep.
Android has a great track record in keeping the bluetooth stack broken.
If you try to search google, you will find out that not only xiaomi phones have this problem.
The only theoretical solution is to port old bluetooth blobs, and somehow make it work. But as far as i know, no one has done this before.
There is hope that android pie will fix this. But from what i read, early builds of pie still has this problem.

It has option to unlock using Bluetooth device under lock screen & passwords > advanced settings > unlock with a bluetooth device.
Nah that option only works for a Mi band. You need to tap the device to confirm it when you try to add it.

Bluetooth, 4G connectivity and notifications issues

hi everyone,
(i posted a similar message to another thread which might be obsolete)
my previous phone was a redmi note 6 pro and now i run a redmi note 8.
On both phones are installed the same apps, same use and same connected devices.
Issues on redmi note 8 (runs MIUI Global 11.0.4 PCOMIXM Stable):
1. it cannot maintain bluetooth connection (initially is connected but connection breaks as long as a call takes place) with car's infotainment . I've read that smartwatch app might cause the problem, in my case amazfit, which is true but i do need both amazfit app and bluetooth connection to my car. I changed AVRCP from default 1.4 to 1.6 but didnt help. Any help?
2. While redmi note 8 is connected to bluetooth headset (i've checked meizu ep51 and mi sports) all text message notifications sounds go through the headset not the phone. Notifications settings are checked. I think its a wider issue. A workaround is to disable media audio for specific bluetooth connections but you can not listen music thru the headset then.
surprisingly Redmi note 6 pro handled all aforementioned successfully.
3. mobile internet connections is often interrupted (for an unknown to me reason) and i have to switch on-off airplane mode to restore internet connection

nope
in addition to all these issues i realized that from some apps with all necessary permissions given there are no notifications at all. Another issue is that DND seems not to work. No matter if DND is enabled or not by AutoDND option, sounds are active unless i turn on or off manually
I wonder if a custom ROM is free of these bugs, but which one?

why don't you try flashing the stock ROM with mi flash via the fastboot method and then see if these issues still exist.

In case the ROM hasn't been flashed correctly?
Does it make difference from downloading the latest package by the updater menu?

Yes you can update from updater app too...but it's much better if you flash via mi flash fastboot method as it's a much more clean flashing and also it flashes all the partitions... fastboot flash is known to solve some issues...make sure you have a backup of your data .... you'll also need an unlocked bootloader but that's not an issue as you can lock your bootloader again if you want to while flashing via mi flash

I have the same issue, can you solve it?
Sent from my Redmi Note 8 using Tapatalk
No , i have no solution of anything. I reflashed phone's same ROM, no hope.
I look for a custom rom hoping it would be bug free
Same problem here ( Redmi Note 8T MIUI V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM)... Using Notify & Fitness for Amazfit with my Amazfit GTR and connection is unstable, every now and then connection is lost. Also transferring watchface is taking long time, about 10 seconds for 1%, and on my old Huawei it is about 1 second for 1%. I also tried another watch, but same problems. Tried every AVRCP setting (1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6) but same issues. Has anyone tried custom ROM or maybe MIUI EU? I'll try but have to wait 1 week for unlocking bootloader.
I also have to wait one week to unlock my phone. Firstly I'll try a XTRV ROM which is China source based.

Question Having trouble with my new wireless earbuds. Can't manage bluetooth devices.

I imagine everybody who's not on a custom OS by now is using MIUI 12.5 (garbage).
Anyhow I got this new set of earbuds but when trying to connect it says wrong pin/passcode or some crap.
I thought great (manage devices and delete the damn thing), no such option. Researched a bit on google, tried deleting the data and cache on the bluetooth app, to no luck.
Seriously, coming from pixel experience with the poco f1 (waiting for a stable official release) I really hate MIUI, can't wait to get a better rom on this phone.
Anyone got any ideas????
Well.. I'm using the xiaomi.eu rom and I can manage the devices that I paired previously.. I just scroll down the notification bar, tap on Bluetooth and 'more options', it will show the paired devices that I have. And my earbuds from xiaomi also work perfectly.
