Mi Mix 2 Freezes - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

I have a big issue with my Mi Mix 2:
Initially I installed the global stable MIUI 8 without unlocking the device, with the Chinese app. There were issues with the phone (Android Auto and Spotify would not integrate, etc) of which the most important:
The phone would freeze and would have (not always) to be reset. I was using Nova Launcher and different themes. If, when frozen and the screen was black, I would call myself from another device I could hear that my phone was supposed to ring but nothing was happening. I would eventually restart the phone.
I did a flash of the phone eventually after I unlocked the bootloader but forgotten to do a wipe. I had some errors, did the wipe and all went smooth.
I used default theme to limit errors.
Yesterday got the MIUI 9 update and the phone became noticably faster. Went back to pixel Oreo theme and Nova.
This morning I was charging the phone and unplug it but the screen did not turn on. Nothing I could do. I called myself the phone would not wake up but in the other phone I could hear it ringing. Plugged back in the charging LED light up and a charging sound. Unplug it and took it with me. Pressed the power button and there was a vibration and the screen went on. I then waited for the theme to load ( heavy theme) and I saw that the wallpapers disappeared. Also there was a prompt : Mi finder stopped or so.
Not sure what caused this. I logged out of the Mi account which is full by the way. I decided now to use the default theme with Nova launcher.
Any thoughts or ideas?
This starts to drive me crazy.
Thanks

Won't turn on or charge???

So after figuring out my signal problem my phone worked great. I flashed CM10, bought Apex launcher Pro, tweaked some stuff, installed freedom then I went to sleep. I woke up to hearing my phone ring when I had turned it off the night before. (Technically it froze and I unplugged the battery because the hard reset woudn't work.) It wasn't the first time it froze, but it only froze while using freedom.
I wake up and it's on and working, but lagging so I decided to turn it off via power button. I go to reboot it and it loads into a black screen after just showing the lockscreen. It wouldn't let me do anything on this screen, so I decided to unplug the battery. I went to reboot and it won't. It won't even boot into HBOOT. I plugged it into a charger and it doesn't show the light as charging.
I found this problem on Verizon forums, but most of the people on those forums seem to only know how to call and text and that's about it. I know this is common, but is there any fix?
EDIT: I rebooted my phone several times with no problems. I just had to go to terminal and do "su" then "killall drmserver" to get the Play Store working.

[Q] random reboots when waking g pad -- any ideas?

MY v500 G Pad is experiencing a weird issue where immediately after waking the device (via knock-on or power button), my lock screen will appear as expected, but then almost immediately the screen will become unresponsive (I'm unable to swipe my pattern to unlock) and the display will dim in increments until black. Once the screen is off, I have to hold down the power button to get the device to reboot.
The changes I have made that seems to coincide with this issue are:
1. rooted the device using the .bat script method
2. installed TWRP recovery
3. switched to Nova Launcher
It's important to note, I have not rom'd my device, and am still running the stock rom.
This is happening one out of every 15 or so times I unlock my device. I have switched from pattern to password unlock to see if it's an issue related specifically to the pattern lock screen (although I have used pattern unlock since the day I got the device).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I don't have that issue and I'm stock , rooted and with twrp you should probably check it's either some settings causing this or more likely an app you installed.

Thanks for the info Naruto. I think I'm going to remove Nova launcher and see if the problem goes away.
Meanwhile, the problem just happened again, but manifested itself slightly differently. Basically, just a few minutes ago when I pushed the power button to wake the device, nothing happend for ~ 10 seconds. Finally, the lock screen came up, but I got an error message "Sorry! Process system isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" Options were "Wait" and "OK". I selected OK and was taken to the lock screen like normal.
What do you guys think?
I had root from dalingrin and twrp on stock rom for about 2 months and i never experienced this issue you report. The lock screen is related to the launcher and as you use nova launcher i d say that it is most probably caused by it.
Thanks for all the help guys. I'm not ready to say that the problem is fixed quite yet, but after switching back to the stock launcher and rebooting, I have locked and unlocked the tablet about 50 times without issue. Looks like the problem was indeed Nova Launcher. That's kind of a bummer because I love Nova, and I have it setup exactly like my phone and it works great for me.
Maybe you could try to re download nova again that's what I'm using and I have no issues. Maybe it was a setting you had checked inside of its settings ?

I got the same thing on a completely unmodified G Pad last weekend. It happened once, worked ok for a few unlocks, then happened a second time. Each time I had to hold the power button down to force a reboot. It's hasn't happened before or since, so I've no idea what caused it, but I did notice something that might or might not be relevant - I happened to be looking at the battery graph later that day, and noticed that at the time of the forced reboots, the battery appeared to drop instantly by about 10%. There was a break in the graph - no vertical line showing the drop, the line just ended, then started off again immediately 10% lower down. If you get the same issue again, it would be interesting to see if your battery graph behaved in the same way.
I had this problem with stock rom changed to Mahdi
No reboots yet.
By the way, I saw a review video on YouTube and the guy was showing knock knock (spell?) and the g pad just crashed and rebooted.
Edit:
I have an LG G2, best phone ever never crashed no lag and a fast phone with great LCD maybe the best mobile screen I have ever seen.

Ok, so I don't think the problem was nova launcher after all. After switching back to the stock launcher, the tablet worked great for several hours, but eventually the problem started happening again. At that point, I rebooted into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, then fixed permissions, and rebooted. Fingers crossed, but the issue hasn't returned once since, and we're going on 18 hours. I've even been using nova launcher without issue. Still not sure what the issue is, but at least for me, clearing cache and fixing permissions has worked so far.

There is a known issue with 4.2+ of rebooting if you have third party widgets (Not sure which) on the lock screen. Do you have any on there?

Thanks for that -- unfortunately I don't have any third-party widgets on the lock screen.

Phone screen wakes up around once an hour on its own? Help?

Hi there,
I installed the latest stable 10.0.1.0 ROM from Xiaomi.eu (OEICNFH) for whyred, and I noticed that after a completely clean install, the screen seems to "wake up" around once an hour as if someone touched the power button.
I've done another CLEAN flash (wiping everything), and left it there immediately following the install, and still it happens. I'm not getting any notifications but for some reason every hour and a bit, the lockscreen turns on for about 5 seconds and then fades back to black. I'm not touching the phone at this point and I haven't installed anything, so I'm wondering if there is something communicating with the device.
I tried disabling any sort of double tap to wake or raise to wake, but it still persists. I'm also rooted and trying freezing all the Mi Cloud, Mi Account....etc and Mi related apps, but still it persists. Any thoughts? Everything else seems to work ok, but it's very annoying.
Have you tried any custom rom and check if problem persist.
I have the same issue on mi max 3 fully stock and it drives me bonkers!!!
Happened to me also. Turned out there was a ghost in our house. Called the priest and he said the magic words to cast the ghost away. Now the screen doesn't turn on by itself.
JUST KIDDING.
Try to set your phone on airplane mode, if the screen doesn't turn on when in airplane mode then maybe it is a service that is doing it.
And also try to install Wakelock Detector to find out what is causing it.

Phone locking up after full charge

The last two times I allowed my phone to charge fully, the phone locked up (would not come on when the power button was pressed) and I had to do a soft reset (hold the power button for 30 seconds). This happened on two different chargers with two different cables (one of which is the factory set). Thus, the issue is almost certainly not hardware related.
There have been no changes to my phone, no newly installed apps, etc. There have been a number of app updates, including several Google/Android core apps, and I am wondering if one of those could be the problem. (After the first time the phone locked, I updated the kernel to the latest version, i.e., PQ3A.190801.022. Note also that the phone is rooted with Magisk.)
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what did you do to resolve it? What can I do to try to figure out why this is happening?

Try replicating it in safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps.
I'm having the same issue the last 2 weeks. I haven't updated any apps and I have auto updates off. No changes to my phone since the end of august and it just started doing this.
Were you able to figure out what was causing it? My issues occur using a 5W Qi charger. So it is definitely not cable/charger related.
Sorry to report, but I have no idea. Since having posted my question, my phone has been behaving properly.
I've got the same issue on 10. I put my phone on a pixel stand at night and when I wake up I have to do a soft reboot to get the screen to turn on. Reverted back to Pie and the issue went away. Flashed the Oct factory image for 10 including wiping data and the issue returned. Booted into safe mode last night. Woke up this morning and had to force a reboot to get the screen to turn on.

Weird. I'm still on 9 that was working fine and no update that I know of.
I confirmed the issue with both QI charging and cable charging on my phone.
I've taken to making sure my phone is charged before bed and just pulling it off the charger before going to sleep. Since my phone is also my alarm and having it go unresponsive is no good. Only looses about 3% battery overnight.
Well, not sure what happened but the day before yesterday my phone did it's usual lock up while charging requiring a reboot. Unusually after reboot if I logged on too fast it would immediately shutdown. But for some reason this time it took me 7-8 tries to get in. I haven't updated any apps, changed any modules in Magisk or anything. It just went to almost boot looping.
As soon as I got it stable I popped into Magisk and looked at what modules were there. I noticed I had added Substratum previously, to try and do a dark theme, but apparently I never removed or disabled it. I disabled all the modules and suddenly no more problems. Reboots without shutting down after log in and no longer locking up on the charger.
I removed two audio mods (audio compatibility patch and audio modification library), as well as substratum. Three of 5 mods I had downloaded.
I am currently only have Active Edge Mod and V4A legacy FX for mods and my phone is now working fine. If it changes I'll let you guys know.

Screen sometimes stays black sometimes [Android 12]

Hey guys,
I recently upgraded my Tab S7 (T870) to Android 12 with One UI 4.0. The tablet worked perfectly fine before the update but now the screen stays black sometimes when I press the power button or double tap the screen, although the Tablet is turned on. I hold down all three buttons, force a restart and then it works again. Why is that happening from time to time? I think it's a bug related to the new update
Factory reset if you already haven't, otherwise clear the system cache.
Avoid using SmartSwitch.
It may be a 3rd party app that doesn't play well with 12.
Make sure your critical data is fully backed up. Boot loops if they do give any warning beforehand its usually lagging, glitches and instability... then boom.
I don't update my Samsung devices and they remain problem free.
Rule #1 - if your OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... let it be!
This happend to me today for the first time ever. I just I rooted my t870 and locked bootloader and installed firmware over itself. It happend while charging the device it wouldn't wake up the screen was black but the back lights were on. Must be a bug. I'm on Android 11 and have had the tablet for like 5 months and it's the first time I noticed this.
