Games that support 120HZ - Razer Phone Questions & Answers

Is there a list of games that support 120HZ somewhere?

If by support 120hz you mean support an uncapped frame rate so far I've played Altos Adventure, Titanfall, Arena of Valor that support this.
Only Alto was at a constant 120fps.
Titanfall ranges in the 7-110fps.

Android - 60FPS for HD games on G2?

Hello everyone,
I know this sounds a bit out of the norm...but does anyone know if there can be a 60FPS kernel that exists for the Team Mobile G2? I've managed to overclock my G2's CPU up to 1.8 GHZ, which definitely shows when an SD game is running (60fps constant such as N.O.V.A SD), but playing a game in HD the HD quality will drop the FPS rate to 30FPS constant, no matter how high or low I OC the CPU. The reason i'm all pro for this, is because HTC Evo managed to have a 60FPS kernel released..
So I have a feeling all 3d HD games for G2 are capped to 30fps, while 3d SD games and side scroller 2d games (like Angry Birds) all cap to 60FPS

gaming performance of m5?

How is the gaming performance of the Xperia M5? Specifically Contest of champions? I really like the device and am planning to buy it but i play contest a lot and its a heavy game. If anyone could test it out on the M5, id be very grateful.
Gaming perfomance is good.
~30-40 FPS on Asphalt 8
~40-60 FPS on This War Of Mine
~30-40 FPS on VainGlory. But game work on 1280x720
Later I test gaming perfomance on Wot Blitz.

Decoding H.265 10-bit ?

Hi, does Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (Snapdragon 636) support hardware decoding H.265 10bit videos ?
thanks.
Yes it does.
Sure ? for a video 10bit ?
Because a Snapdragon 625 can't play HEVC 10bit video with HW decode.
ARM CPUs doesn't support hardware decoding of HEVC files. You will have to rely on software decoding.
Be careful with what you say. Technically no CPU does hardware decode of video VPUs take care of that (and GPUs but sometimes the VPU is included in the GPU as a separate sector). SoCs do hardware decode of hevc.
The Qualcomm flagship SoCs have had ten bit hardware decode since the 820. Mediatek had it on many of its chips, both flagship and mid-range (and I think low-range too) but not all of them and they stopped advertising which ones do and which don't. Kirin 960 doesn't but I don't know if the 970 does.
The mid-range Qualcomm chips are confusing. The 625 and 650 don't but the 660 does. So it should be safe to assume that anything newer above the 660 does but who knows about newer chips that are lower on the spectrum.
I know this does not answer whether the 636 supports it but it does show it's possible and we should wait for someone who can actually test it.

Yes, it is capable to. I have tried Jellyfish video, 120 Mbps 4K UHD HEVC 10 bit. This is a super deadly combo. SD636 plays it smoothly using H/W or H/W+ decoder in MX Player (1.9.24). At the 140 Mbps 4K UHD HEVC 10 bit with TrueHD 5.1 sound, only H/W+, H/W not supported (seems missing audio codec). As long as one decoder works, it is playable.
At SD625 (RN4), even the lowest 3 Mbps HD HEVC 10 bit video there, already lag and dropped to S/W, can't decode in H/W nor H/W+. This is also something that SD820 can't do in its time. SD820 is capable (hardware), but a lot of vendor messed it up and don't put the proper software/codec to decode it.
In SD636, finally we have the hardware and software/codec enough to basically decode any video. (I haven't tried 4:4:4 video though) It should hold up for quite long until the new video standard (AV1) becomes mainstream. And by that time, you probably have upgraded to newer phone.
Additional info :
Same 120 Mbps video, switch to S/W, immediately black screen. So the VPU/DSP is powerful enough, but the CPU is not capable to pull the 4K. But S/W still can play 90 Mbps FHD HEVC 10 bit, not smooth though. And you don't want to play video using S/W, it will kill your CPU and battery. (At my previous phone test, H/W or H/W+ gives 8 hours but S/W only 3 hours playtime.) I don't try any bitrate above that, since we rarely have content with such a very high bitrate. At that kind of bitrate, we would run out of storage first. (30 seconds video already 500 MB; 2 hours movie will be 120 GB!!!)
Other RN5 users are welcomed to do the test. To get the sense on whether it is smooth or lag, try the same video at other SD625/SD820 phone. Or at RN5, try FHD video below 90 Mbps and switch to S/W decoder. Other SD636 phone should be capable the same, but I only tried at RN5.

Gaming at 120 fps ?

Hey guys , I have a Galaxy S20+ exynos variant ,
And I noticed with using fps counter that all of the games are capped at 60 fps . I precise that those games support 120 Hz and work with other devices in 120 fps like the OP8 pro even in 84 fps in my old Mi 9 with an overclocked screen . I only managed to get subway surfers to work in 120 fps . Are you guys having the same issue or it's just me .
More info :
Screen resolution : FHD+
Screen refresh rate : 120 Hz
Battery setrings : max performance
Currently I as know there are very few games that support 120fps. And even if a game supports that, it is almost impossible for Exynos chip to reach that 120fps, unless it is a very lightweight game like Subway Surfers.

Bro , there are many games supporting 120 fps .
I'm just talking about lightweight games like Alto .
With Mi 9 , I can play 84 fps at any games , even PUBG . Exynos 990 should be more powerful than SD 855

no Exynos 990 is not more powerful when it comes to the GPU.
@Simo4567
try this.
My S20 Ultra exynos variant has been tamed, tweaked and abused, I'm now only 12k points behind the Snapdragon variant on the antutu benchmark, check the top 3, that's my device 3rd down
Thee exynos can and does perform just as well as the Snapdragon, it just needs a bit of fiddling with if you have root, in my eyes it was more fun applying tweaks and getting the device to run the way it does now
So in answer to your question, yes it is possible to obtain 120hz/120fps in all games and apps, root needed though, my FPS doesn't drop at all in heavy games and I also alleviated the overheating without losing the performance, in fact it runs faster than stock and still no overheat
It's taken weeks of testing and trying different things but I made it
Get your phone rooted and we can discuss some more mate, happy to give my understanding of this phone to anyone, might be easier in discord or telegram, give me a shout
Sort of off topic, but is there a good app to tell you the fps your games are running at? Just curious what I'm able to achieve.

samsung does have an fps counter included , just enable GPUwatch in developer options .
Alternatively , you can install perf z and games plugin from galaxy store

Everytime I enable gpuwatch the developer options menu crashes. I can't get back in until I restart the phone and when I try to enable it again, the same thing happens. Not sure why, but figure maybe a third party option wouldn't give me the same hassle.

Question Call of duty mobile fps problems.

I have the s22 ultra snapdragon version. It has a 120hz display and one of the most powerful phones on the market (so we're told). I can't get cod mobile to run over 60fps even on low graphics it just stays basically right at 60,. This is with any setting in game. Is there a way to fix this issue yet? I know for sure codm supports it why can't I get it over 60? If there's a fix for this please do share... Thanks in advance.
