Dual 3.5mm and charger - HTC U11+ Accessories

Hey,
Does anyone know if the htc u11+ supports dual charging and 3.5mm output from the usb c port?
Seems to be loads of accessories on amazon etc... but some reviews saying the u11 doesn't support this.
I have just ordered 2 of the official 3.5mm outputs as they are good discount but htc don't do an official charging one. Be a bit of bummer if you cant do both!

https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4340137&stc=1&d=1511441175I use this one, bought from China, you can get it from google play store, however, this one is not very compatible with music app like hibyl and SONY music centre. actually, these accessories designed for android is not performed as well as apple accessories, thereof not really care about that.

I'm in China too and plan to buy an adapter this weekend to try it out. Watch this space and I'll post my findings.

If you wanna quick charge your phone and listening music with dac, this is the only one option you can choose, or you can bought a cheaper one from amazon, but I have to tell you that these accessories may not support quick charge or listening music via a good dac

anyone managed to find a decent one yet?

Car Dock wanted

Hi All,
I am looking for an car dock, please suggest me which would be good, i do not mind if it is universal car dock as long as it does not spoil my phone. I am open for anyone selling orginal car dock.
Buying an original brand new car dock is out of question as it has to be shipped from US and not available locally and it is pretty costly by the time it reaches here(Taxes etc)
Location: India,Bangalore
I did buy a charger a local car charger but this does not charge my atrix where as it works for other phones any idea?
Please let me know guys appreciate anyone's help
I'm on the search for one my self and so far Clingo is the best universal car mount there is! I'll be buying one very soon. Or I'll wait bit, I'm sure the official car dock will get very cheap and it will be affordable even including taxes. You can do the same if you are able to wait.
car dock
Amazon has the Motorola car dock for the atrix. Motorola suggests 59.95, but you can get it for 25.00 at amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Motorola-Atrix-Car-Dock/dp/tags-on-product/B004OA1UMY
The motorola vehicle dock is mint. Worth every penny. The integrated audio and charge via single custom wire makes for a clean look.

I was searching one to buy, but it's hard to find here in Brazil (or I hadn't searched hard enough). But this one from Amazon will do just great!
Thanks!

Anyone use this with cm9 or cm7? Does that all in one audio cable that comes out of the USB work or does it need some blur app?
Sent from my Atrix 4G
I've used the Motorola Car Dock with both cm7 and cm9. Google's Car Home apk works fine with cm7, though I had some audio glitches and would have to unplug and replug the audio jack.
I'm using Car Home Ultra with cm9 now as the google car home does not work yet and have had great luck with it. Bluetooth and audio jack work as expected.

All Moto Car Dock Audio works flawlessly with CM9 but only once you install the Google car app. At CM7 it was a cluster. Weekly CM7 resolved this, but the audio routing would change to speakerphone if you received or made a call. Blur based ROM is better at 2.3.x. Been running CM9 from jokersax for 4 days. Very impressed. Not worth trying CM7, considering how far along CM9 is at the moment. Some issues exist, but nothing that will prevent you using it as your primary phone.

Pixel/Pixel XL no headphones ?

While searching the web re: info on the Pixel XL, I came across a YouTube unboxing Vid of a Pixel handset showing what in contains and more to the point what its dosnt contain ie "HEADPHONES". With the cost of these hands sets, one would have thought headphones would have been standard....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mNK-hDEFZw
Well, I saw the same video with headphones but they are not listed as an accessory on Googles webpage. Guess we will have to wait until the 20th to find out for sure.
I also saw video and pictures of an unboxing that showed earbuds in the box

Headphones are often standard outside of the U.S. (although not always). It's hit or miss in the U.S., often with more misses.
Good. I just throw them in the trash anyway.
I have good headphones already, I don't need the freebie junk.

The last time I used headphones included with a phone was never. The only reason I'd care is if there were no 3.5 mm headphone jack, then I'd want a pair of headphones or an adapter until I could get a better pair to use.

It's the opposite, they're usually not the standard everywhere except some places (AU, FR...) where they are standard by law.
Do not want headphones anyway.

Because it is not a Nexus, and they rebranded to Pixel for competing with iPhones. Is it a huge ask? I use headphones with mics for meetings and do not have a second pair :crying:

NO.
Earphones are under the power adapter ONLY for AU (and in future, A FEW other countries if it will be sold in France etc).
MOST of the countries won't have the earphones. PERIOD.
Confirmed.. Got my PixelXL today (US) and ZERO headphones... damn cheapskates!

Had the same thought! I use them as toss around headphones. Not like I don't have others but dang I wanted to see how Google thought headphones should look... invisible I guess.
On the other hand my Note 7 came with a pretty decent set, changeable silicon thingys and all! Hopefully they don't melt down or explode tho...
Ok some EU countries insist phones must be sold with hands free option. It is aim to reduce accidents ... Don't know if it is effective.
It is in a similar way that some EU countries you not allowed to sell a bicycle without a bell and lights
In AU we get headphones. They are really nice too, am very happy with them. The ones that came with the Nexus 6P were similar to the Apple ones, and don't sit in my ear properly.
The "in-ear" ones that came with the Pixel have decent bass, and great response.
We didn't get headphones here in Canada either which I thought was ridiculous for the price. Other people say they don't use them but I would have as a cheap pair when k needed them.
Years ago I had a Samsung Galaxy Nexus , I believe that came with headphones . My guess on that would be it was due to the fact it was Samsung putting the headphones in the box , I could be wrong . The only headphones I ever really liked where the ones that came with my HTC M8 . I know the HTC wasn't a nexus device just demonstrating out of all the phones I have owned in the past only one pair I really cared for is all .
I would like to know who made the in ear monitors which are being sold here in India. No branding, nothing, just a white coloured IEM, haven't even used it, so can't speak for the sound quality.

Pixel 2 Does Not Allow 3rd Party Headphone Adapters

Info from Ohgami_Ichiro on compatible Pixel 2 headphone adapters:
There's more options now it appears.
BASEVS $17.90 https://www.amazon.com/Basevs-Earpho...dp/B077GT9MTD/
CONMDEX $17.90 https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-CONMD...dp/B077GS8G3N/
FARACENT $17.90 https://www.amazon.com/adapter-Farac...dp/B077FJH6WT/
AirsFish $17.90 https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-AirsF...dp/B077GVVLQZ/
These 4 appear to be the same with different brand names on them and they use a Realtek Chip compared to the Geekria one that uses a Conexant one. I don't know what the Google one uses though. Slight update it looks like the Razor one will be compatible so there's that plus the ones for the HTC U11 are as well although there is debate as to whether the one for the U11 and the U11 Ultra are the same with a new case design or us a different chip. But either way the HTC ones have a DAC in the adaptor so that makes it compatible.
So far the current list is:
Google OEM
Essential Phone PH-1 adaptor
Razor Phone Adaptor
HTC U11 https://www.htc.com/us/accessories-b...-3-5mm-htc-u11
HTC U11 Ultra Adaptor https://www.htc.com/us/accessories-b...mm-htc-u-ultra
Geekria https://www.amazon.com/Geekria-Headp...dp/B073Z47PSK/
I bought some $0.89 USB-C to 3.5mm adapters off of AliExpress, because they're dirt cheap and I know for a fact I will lose the one that comes with my phone. After receiving my Pixel 2 yesterday and plugging one into the phone, it says "Analog audio accessory detected - The attached device is not compatible with this phone. Tap to learn more."
I'm a little peeved that they decided to take the headphone jack out, make you use an adapter, and even more specifically make you use their adapter. I switched away from iOS specifically these kinds of reasons..
I assume the only way to remove this restriction would be via root?
Pixel 2 and 2 XL requires a digital adapter, which means it needs a chip inside. The one on the google play store is only $9, is a digital adapter, and also contains a DAC. There is no restriction that you can't use a 3rd party adapter, you just need to use a digital adapter.
USB c allows analog and digital audio, the pixel only does digital, your adapter is only analog (which is why it's so cheap).
https://www.androidauthority.com/3-5mm-audio-usb-type-c-701507/
This is very interesting! As is known, Google is focusing hardcore on USB C compliance. I was under the impression that since the pixel 2 does not do analog audio, it broke the spec, and was a bit confused why.
As per the error message you are receiving, it is clear the USB C port is reading the SBU pin's correctly, there is just no DAC connected on the other end. So i guess technically this is compliant...

Lack of analog does not break the spec, AFAIK. The spec allows, but does not require, analog pass-through.
I wish they did allow it, so we could buy cheaper adapters. However, that would require another DAC and amplifier in the phone.
Google made the right choice
Google made the right choice here. As not all USB C devices do not do analog out it is better to only do digital out. This is so you can use your USB accessories with other devices. Not allowing it is actually more complaint in google's mind then doing analog and digital out.
I tested the adapter that came with my Essential phone in the Pixel 2 and it worked fine. It has a dac inside it as well

Yeah but not at that price and also something that is available now...
I tried some el cheapos that also didn't work on my Essential phone, so I went ahead and ordered 2 more from google since they dropped the price to $9 a few weeks ago. Mind as well roll that into price of the phone if you insist on wired like I do. Sucky thing is they're not slated for delivery until Nov 17 – 18.
My advice would be if you need another adapter to buy the official Google one and not a 89 cent China eBay special. You must remember that embedded DAC is solely responsible for making sure your audio doesn't sound like ****. Don't cheap out and get a quality converter

Agreed the price sucks. But I'm cautiously optimistic that Google will drop that like they did for the regular adapter right before launch. (fingers crossed)
As per usual, Google pulled a Nintendo and did not make enough of one of the most sought after accessories for their flagship phone. The adapters are out of stock and any orders placed for them while they where in stock don't even ship until mid November. Lame.
Does anyone know if the Razer Phone's adapter will work on our Pixel 2? Would be interesting to try that THX certification out if Razer were to sell this separately from their phones.
Nothing looks simple, but i have found some things like this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65201371&postcount=48
I'm using a Dragonfly Red with my Pixel 2 (via an Anker USB-C to A converter) without issue, aside from the known low volume problem with the Red (which isn't as much of an issue for me as I mostly use sensitive headphones.)
I can't personally vouch for this because I haven't got it yet... but this adapter appears to have a dac.
Its pricey, but there if you need one before Google can get them back in stock.

This one is good. It was referenced in the 2XL forum. A user there did testing of audio quality and his result was it was just a little bit less than the Google supplied one.
Post for reference: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74352935&postcount=26
I have scoured Amazon and really at this time The google one and the Geekria one are the only one at this time. As more and more companies release phones without 3.5mm there should be more options. One other option I brought up was also that the iPhone adapters also have DACs in them so there is the option to get one and get a Lighting to C adapter.

usb-c to headphone adapter

After receiving my Mi Mix 2, I ordered an adapter to listen to music while charging.
https://m.banggood.com/Bakeey-2-in-...-Pro-Max-Xiaomi-6-p-1186682.html?rmmds=search
Seemed a perfect solution, but, when connection the adapter, my phone thinks there's an headphone connected, even when there is none present. That means that the alarm sound uses the music volume setting. Which is quite inconvenient.
When using the original adapter from Xoaomi, all is well. But it's either music or charge.
Does any of you have the same experience with cheap adapters?
There is no Android standard for that specific type of accessory so unless it's actually made by your device manufacturer you are pretty much guaranteed to have one problem or another with those. It's a big problem for a lot of people. Many Android phone manufacturers decided to ape Apple's decision to drop the headphone jack but Apple actually makes the kind of adapter you are describing for their phones. Most Android phone makers do not and third party accessories rarely work well.

I'm using Huawei USB-C headphones (the ones provided with their phones). I got them from Amazon for £20. Sound is alright (I'm not too picky when it's about music quality tho) and I'm not bothered with adapters and whatnot.
Just a note. I ordered 2 Google adapters in mid July, checked the order status a few days later, and back then the expected delivery date was in October. I think like the 2nd week. So I cancelled that and bought these for $19.90 for two from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DY8B9GR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They work fine and they're better because they actually arrived shortly after I ordered. Since Google charges shipping on small orders, it was going to cost $23 something for two and I'd still be maybe 6 weeks away from getting them.
My fear is Google is not really keeping them in stock because they're putting either a regular 3.5mm headset jack on the Pixel 3, or there will be a DAC so that the cable doesn't need to have it.

I'm not an audiophile, but music sound quality is good. They seen a touch better than the OEM Google adapter with earbuds. And I mean stock Samsung and some $30ish sweets I have. I tried then with my Corwin E7 which is I think $60 on Amazon. So not the cheapest tier, but also not a few hundred dollars either. With those, I don't think I could tell the difference between the oem and the adapter I got on Amazon.
Google just launched their own type C earbuds. They are on the Google store for $30.
