Got my OP5T 128GB. Any questions, ask. ^_^ - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

As the title implies, I have a 5T in my hands.
If anyone wants to know anything specific post it here and I'll reply.

Does it come with a pre-installed screen protector, and a case in the box? If so, how are they? Thanks in advance!

How is the jelly effect or scroll stuttering?
is it exact same size and feel like OP5?
How is the Silicon case? is it very thick? increases size?

Comes with the plastic protector as with the OP5, the case is also included. It's nothing fancy but will do while the case manufacturers catch up.

The Jelly effect is not apparent this time. I have the OP5 also to compare. Screen is obviously just inverted back to the correct orientation.
The phone feels identical to the 5
And the free silicon case is pretty thin, probably wouldn't trust it in a drop however its nice they thought to include it at least until more cases are available.

How is the "alt-tab" peformance between recent apps; is it as quick as you could possible ask for?

The switching between apps by double tapping the recent button is very quick. Just as it was previously. I always set my animation scales to 0.5 anyway, but yes. It's good.

Call quality is on par with the 5 if you used that one. It's as expected from any flagship.
The screen is lovely. Super bright and the responsiveness is top notch. I love the slightly rounded edges also.
I'd like to see oneplus add a full screen mode into the file browser app for videos.

How is the sound quality out of the headphone jack? Oneplus has always been recommended highly for its audio output, hopefully it's still good.

Yes, the screen doesn't seem to affect battery life at all either. I know from experience oneplus batteries get better with time. Or at least was the case with my 5. I topped an 8 hour SOT once. Looking forward to reaching similar levels with this.
The phone is very fluid.

I'm just testing this right now. Seems really good. I'm using the new IMR - R1 earphone. Sound is extremely lush and they don't seem under powered or anything.

Speaker is loud. Don't miss a dual front speaker tbh. It's sufficient here enough for my netflix binge watching and oh yeh, Netflix does utilize the full aspect ratio.
Honestly mate, Oneplus have nailed it. I love how the company is progressing. I just wish there was a little more transparency regarding a few internal issues with security.

My latest Gadget - One X - ask me anything you like to Know

Hi All,
Lucky enough to get the One X before the official release date (2-Apr) everyone is talking about.
Always wanted to own a phone which is the last thread in XDA but always my local shops get them little late but luckily this time they got it before everyone and i am the first person to buy
My Impressions:
Build quality is very nice (compared to my white Xperia S and Galaxy Nexus)
No heat until now (using since 3 hours)
System is fast enough to prove that it has 4 main cores and 1 companion core
Continuous camera shots function is too good and works really well
Features on My X
- grey camera ring
- no beats headphones
Any questions? will try to answer as many as possible with the knowledge i have
Signal strength - signal strength is little weaker than my wife's galaxy note on the same network
X v Note
Hi,
I notice that you have the Galaxy Note, which for me is the best phone that I have seen. How would you compare the One X with the note. Very keen about the screen in particular. Also is the size difference between the screens noticeable I am a huge fan of big phones.
I look forward to your answer
Hi, can your compare 3g signal strength with other phone? And audio from speaker
Feel free to answer the questions from the previous thread
I notice you said no Beats headphones, any headphones at all or just the phone, charger, etc?
I have 2 questions, how does the One X compare to the Galaxy Nexus in terms of pixels/clarity and blacks (if possible could you take a comparison photo) and also how is the gaming experience on the One X so far?
Would really appreciate if you could answer these
Hello, congratulations on getting the phone so soon, I am very jealous right now!
Questions then ( I imagine most want to know these)
1) What is the speaker quality like (Playing music and in calls)
2) Are the earphones any good despite not being "Beats"?
3) Compared to your old phone, whats the screen like?
finally
4) Whats the call quality like?
Ahhh the grey camera ring looks fine on retail build. Now... stay with grey or go white. Think I'll stick with grey.
Congrats on getting your phone
Can you test the loudspeaker with music?
How's the glossy edges?
Speaker loudness and pics from camera please?
How's the battery life so far? Just based on what you've observed in the three hours, I know you can't be very accurate at the given time. Thanks

compared to nexus pixel density seems very high but black levels are low which is expected due to LCD on one X and Amoled on Nexus

Ahhh that's what's meant by two colours of grey...
Dialaphone just calls it "Black".
Seems strange to me that HTC would offer two slightly different darker versions. From all press releases it seemed like there would be white, and there would be grey.
The OP's phone definitely looks gun metal gray, it quite closely mimics the MGS4 LE PS3 IIRC, which was gun metal.

I agree its pointless, a watch that can't be read all of the time is not a watch.
Well i do have one complaint. Compared to my urbane, the screen is not as bright, especially ambient mode. Its impossible to see outside in daylight. My urbane was always readable.

That's a downside to AMOLED, which gets much better battery life in ambient mode due to tbr nature of the tech.

Black metal
Hi, would you comment on the quality of the band, and the black coating?
Also, on promotions pictures, it seems the black frame of the watch has a "brushed effect", does it look as cool as it appears to be?
I don't mind the leather band of the cheaper model, but am really wondering if the brushed black metal is worth the extra 100$.
Thank you,
David

Will Google tighten up quality control on the Pixel 2 XL?

Do you think Google is going to subtle improving quality control on the Pixel 2's, specifically the 2 XL?
I have a 2 XL that I received on the 20th. Overall the phone is great, but I do have the off axis color shift. I see some that barely show a color shift and others that show a more pronounced shift. I'm debating sending the unit back and waiting a couple of months before checking it out again.
Do you think phones in a couple of months will have less off axis color shift?
Thanks,
Rick
The color shift is the polarizing lens applied to the scree. Other phones do it too.
Google says this color shift is inherent in the P-OLED implementation. They might try to lessen the effect with a software update but it's a feature that probably won't go away.
It doesn't even bother me... I think half the sky is falling reports, are coming from Apple fans trying to do damage control because iPhone 8 sales were lackluster...
I think you know the answer to your question: NO ONE KNOWS
There are multiple levels of color shift. Some are ok and some are horrible, such as mine phone. Hence the QC question. Alot of these phones are abnormal, so saying it's normal is not legit, alot of fluctuating between phones
The question is if someone has returned their phone with excessive blue shift and got a new one that's acceptable. I wonder if there really is a large difference between phones or is it just based upon individual perception, or what
The simple fix is that if you are trying to write an email or watch a movie at a 45 degree angle from the screen... Tilt the screen towards you. Problem solved!
My phone is awesome in all regards.
Samsung best remember googles android( Samsung has been trolling Google) put them on the top of the smartphone business.
Along with over-saturated screens and the android play store.
Now im seeing articles online about a Pixel XL 2 recall seriously, its not that bad.
I have a slight bluish tint but not enough to return this wonderful device.
Im really wondering what is the endgame here, does google keep lg as a screen partner? Highly unlikely at this point to many headaches.
This really is the best smartphone i have ever used until the Pixel XL 3 is released lol.

Here's a couple more at various settings. Still looks nothing like the video.
I've read on a few sites that the blue shift is from the circular polarization filter over the OLED screen. I would GLADLY give up the circular polarization filter to have a PURE WHITE SCREEN AT ALL ANGLES.
My Nexus 5X the screen would be black in portrait while wearing my polarized prescription glasses. It was no big deal to see the screen though.
1. Lift my sunglasses
- OR -
2. Turn the phone to landscape
Designers dwell on small problems only to create larger ones. What they should do is not apply the filter layer to the screen, but add it to a glass screen protector. They could sell "clear" or a "depolarized" version
Then everyone's happy.
I find it really hard to gauge where my screen falls in the blueness scale when comparing to pictures people have posted online and in threads.
I wish there was any easier way to tell.

The things nobody tells you about this great phone.

Hi V30 fans.
I got my V30+ 2 weeks ago and love this phone.
However there were a few things nobody ever mentions in their review like the great vibration motor, the sharp edges at the bottom or the plastic feel of the screen.
That's why I made my own consumer review of the V30. You can watch it here:
https://youtu.be/1Eejb64Cwy8
Did you notice similar flaws with your V30 and how much did they bother you? Cheers
I put a case on my phone, so no sharp edges on mine or my wife's.

Just a different question: When I set DND to only priority some app notifications like tinder show up even though I did't activate it. Any thoughts?
What bothers me the most is front facing camera, it's hideous, sooooo crappy, my 3 year old htc m9 had a better camera. Other than that I'm super happy with everything this phone has to offer

Really no LED? This is going backwards in time, back to my N6 that had to be rooted to get the notification LED working. This actually might be a deal breaker, leaving me with my HTC 10 until something else with a decent DAC comes onto the market.

Oh. I had that on my 6P. I like the v30's version better.

I guess the thing is that it was the one thing I was most worried about and, while I miss it, I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.
Alright, first thing I want to clear up is this:
Plastic OLED does NOT mean the display is actually plastic. You CANNOT tell by touching it. You can tell the difference by touching the S8 and the V30? Both are glass! LOL.. Also, AMOLED is what Samsung calls its OLED displays. There's no LG AMOLED panel. So its not "plastic AMOLED", its just p-OLED.
Now, for the most important part about this topic, all recent OLED panels that have any kind of flexibility/curve are ALL plastic substrate OLED panels. Including the AMOLED panels on the recent Samsung S and Note devices. LG calls it pOLED (stupid choice for a name tbh, it causes this exact sort of misunderstanding!). So, the "plastic" just refers to the plastic substrate layer instead of the glass substrate layer used on OLEDs prior to the flexible displays. It's under the glass and digitizer, its part of the actual display panel, so there's no way you can tell the difference by touching or looking at it.
I agree about the sharp edges on the USB port, SIM tray cutout and headphone jack, it's one of the first things I noticed. Not an issue really, but feels like someone forgot to grind the edges down.
The speaker is plenty loud for notifications or the occasional Youtube video for me. I NEVER play music on a phone speaker and if I'm going to watch something, I almost always use my earphones. So, personally, it's a non-issue as long as I don't miss notifications.
Good review overall mate, just make sure you do the necessary research (doesn't take more than a few mins) and avoid making assumptions. Cheers!

Visibility outside?

How the visibility of the phone outside please?
Outstanding.
Coming from a Razer Phone 2, the outside brightness/visibility is on another level.
Having the display set to colorful mode along with auto brightness helps a lot.
Manual brightness doesn't allow for maximum peak brightness.

Hmm many thanks. I have someone on another forum saying the software on this phone is a big letdown. What are your thoughts?

No problem.
"A big letdown" is harsh in my opinion.
People were complaining about third party launcher support, however this seems to have been fixed now.
Personally I use the stock launcher, it's pretty decent.
I have no complaints. It's fast, the screen quality is fantastic, the battery life is the best I've experienced yet.
Gaming is as good as it's going to get on an Android.
The charging is just crazy. When using a 11v PPS charger the device barely warms up.
The speakers are the best I've heard yet, absolutely smashes the Oneplus 8 Pro out of the water.
I could go on and on! I've had it since day 1, since update v4.11 I haven't had any software issues.

Without a case, it's like a bar of soap.
I did get a Nubia clear case with the phone, but this was junk. I used it whilst a better case was being shipped.
I now have an digital camo style case from Aliexpress for £10 and the quality is outstanding, the grip is great (like my previous spigen cases).
A complaint actually, the accidental side touches are annoying.
I always accidentally press on a suggest video within Youtube when I'm watching a video.
The Oneplus 8 Pro has fantastic anti-touch software built in, hopefully Nubia will do something similar.

Hmm thanks. I think the accidental touches would really annoy me, and I wish I could actually see one before buying it ?. But none to see here in the UK.
